1342  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property is real on: December 20, 2022, 09:46:28 PM
Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property although is just concrete but it is real.
But what is there to say, when I tell them, they’re scammed they don’t believe me and even being very hostile on me and call me retard, they think they’re getting the business when they buy the stock, what give?

Stocks and real properties are two (2) different investment mechanisms that offers different approaches in order to be effective. It does not mean that if a person losses money frequently on the other, it concludes that investing on such is considered "bs" like what you just mentioned.

Again, while stocks or cryptocurrencies are intangible, it does not make them any less of each other. They have as much impact as any other investment, if not, better if the person knows how to deal with them and use it to their advantage. Having to hasty generalize that they are absolute trash is very fallacious, only depending it on your experience while not checking others.
1343  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Keep your money off exchange, in this crisis moments hold Bitcoin for safety on: December 20, 2022, 06:34:31 PM
Recent events in the cryptocurrency market have forced a lot of cryptocurrency investors and traders to start moving their funds off-exchange most especially centralized exchanges.

There has been a lot of bank runoff with cryptocurrency and a lot of banks are under fed investigation on possible use of customers money to invest in cryptocurrency through centralized exchanges, and with the recent bankruptcy war and money laundering investigation against major exchanges.

It has become imperative to avoid exchanges.and the coins, convert all asset into Bitcoin, and transfer them to your own wallet with your wallet recovery phrase saved. Go on break till after Bitcoin halves in 2024 and if you must invest buy more bitcoin.

Friendly reminder not your key, not your coins!

I am actually guilty of this practice- I mostly store my coins inside an exchange rather than getting my person hardware wallet. The reason on why I do this practice is due to the convenience of placing it on our local exchange in the country (which is heavily regulated and requires the submission KYC documents to completely use it) where I have the freedom to convert BTC to our local currency.

Not to mention, we can also use the same local exchange in paying our monthly bills of electricity, etc. Though this may be the case, I think it is imperative that everyone should keep their BTCs in a hardware wallet due to the recent events of scams and hacks.
1344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there are no cool games on: December 20, 2022, 06:23:59 PM
The technology today is bad only dice, roullete and the normal games like slots.

Its not competitive. Why not open games players vs players.

For example somethign similar to Tekken on a browser.

Remember that casinos are designed in order for them to profit. As this is considered as a business, releasing games that are mostly skilled-based (pvps, etc.) compared to the traditional luck-based games (poker, slots, etc.) would hurt the profit of the establishment. If a person can win purely based on skill, then it somehow eliminates the element of luck on which a casino is founded on gambling.

In conclusion, there would be no "gambling" per se and as it can completely change the whole business model of the casino. I think that is the reason on why gambling companies are hesitant to release such games to date.
1345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: December 20, 2022, 05:55:45 PM
The world championships in speed chess and rapid will be held in Kazakhstan next week. Not known to many people, but almost the entire world top will participate in this. Last year it was a surprise that Carlse was unable to win both parts, and then a young talent from Uzbekistan won. There is a live stream throughout the day with commentary from very strong chess players such as Peter Svidler. Carlsen will still be looking for revenge after his disappointment last week. There is also a separate section for women.

What a strange date to still hold this tournament, just before Christmas and New Year's Eve? Chess is of course a very free and independent profession, which is the advantage. I don't know who the favorites are to win this tournament, but what I have read is that Carlsen is in conflict with certain organizations. He demonstratively gave up against a German player some time ago, because he suspected him of cheating. It has become very discredited and the reputation of the player from Germany has been seriously damaged.

it's a weird date for a big tournament, indeed

I find that speed chess and normal chess are almost like two totally different games
the skills needed to beat on each are quite different too

Thank you very much for this information- but yea, I do agree that they held this tournament in a very weird date. In between Christmas and New Year where most people are busy, I hope it gains traction on the viewers as most would be very occupied at this time.

Speed chess and normal chess are two different worlds apart. In speed chess, not only do you have to recognize pattern in the openings but you must also based your move mostly on instincts as time is of the essence in this game format. In normal chess, it is more of tactics and technique where you should be playing 90-99% of the top moves in order to garner that advantage over your opponent.
1346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games plebs like us must play on: December 20, 2022, 05:32:19 PM
So technically you are saying that gambling can be more ideal as a stress reliever than making a trade?. well it depends in trading if you have knowledge regarding the position you would like to do is you make the right time and proper preparation at the same time, if you execute the trade properly its good but if not you have a mistakes every thing right there has a lesson but in playing gambling is you just make a deposit, play and let the game you choose to decide if you are a winner or not, gambling is more stressful because you are just letting other people make your luck not yourself with your knowledge and skills.

IN my opinion gambling is much more stressful than day trading, I say this for the following reason: for example if a person takes 100$ and that person starts making sports bets, that person bets 10$, loses, bets others 10$ and loses again, bet on 10$ wins, but then goes back to bet on 10$ and loses again, this person will start to get stressed because he sees that his bankroll is reducing all the time, and he doesn't know how to reverse this situation, then panic starts to take over him, but when doing trade he will always put stop - loss and he can do hodl for some time until he has profit, then he will not have stress when doing trade

I think that gambling can be more stressful than day trading.

Remember that in gambling, luck is the majority factor that can either make or break your day. A person with no skill at all can still win tons of money in gambling if he has the luck for the day. But a person who does not have any prior experience nor skill in trading is most likely to fail and to experience losses.

Though both have the element of luck present, you can at least lessen the chances of you losing if you have the knowledge and experience in trading.
1347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or altcoin? on: December 20, 2022, 04:48:41 PM
Leaving sentiments asides, will you advise someone to still buy some Bitcoins (Not up to the value of 1)  if they have an amount of money that will be okay to purchase the equivalent of 1 of a good altcoin with a strong community? Is having some bitcoins (in decimals) more valuable still than having the value of one good altcoin?

I think I would prefer to invest it to BTC due to its value and volatility in the long-term strategy.

The problem with most altcoins is that its price is somehow slower to progress and develop, unlike in BTC where at least everyday, a news comes up and effects significant change. Like what most people have experienced, a single news that affects BTC could either make or break your investment overnight. So it really depends on the person on the risks that they have the shoulder.

Personally, I am willing to take that risk given that I have been reading/learning about BTC for the last five (5) years. If there is one thing that I have learned, it is always to trust the process!
1348  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Finally got my boss to pay me in Bitcoin on: December 20, 2022, 04:20:52 PM
Hello everyone I am very excited today as finally my boss has agreed to pay in Bitcoin. After losing at my first attempt in Cryptocurrency as I thought that wealth falls like rain here I was brought back to reality with losses I got a little job on the side although a small amount paying job I think it is okay for me and I can get back on my feet.

Interesting, but I have some questions for you OP- are you working in a company or are you personally hired by your boss? Generally, wages are to be paid using the respective legal tender of a country and anything different from that may be considered void. Were you able to secure this kind of payment system with your boss?

I do hope that countries would definitely adopt cryptocurrency to their financials and adapt to its usage. With this kind of example, employers may give employees the freedom on how to choose their wages to be paid- either by fiat or by crypto.
1349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: December 20, 2022, 03:40:15 PM
I do not think that digital dollar would become a threat to BTC since they have different uses and purposes.

Digital dollar is the same as fiat- the only difference is the platform on where you can use it. In contrast, BTC is something that can be used as alternative payment if you want to secure your transactions in the blockchain. Again, like what I similarly comment on posts like these, both fiat/digital dollar and bitcoin can co-exist with each other. They can both be used as they can fulfill each other's roles effectively.
1350  Other / Archival / Re: who played here? on: December 20, 2022, 10:27:41 AM
I think you should do a thorough research about a casino before you throwing your money into them, not even single dime. There are also a lot of other functional and trustworthy online casinos which is also tested with lots of positive remarks that you can try with also lots of bonuses and incitives.
One thing you should know is that, everyone is not the same and no one should be trusted on this internet space a d you should try searching for reputable casinos in the forum.

Not to mention, there are tons of sportsbook websites out there that are far more reputable and trustworthy. Though I am not completely dismissing OP's question of that website, but there are tons available that are well-received by this community.

Like what you mentioned, you are correct for doing the research in this forum first before putting any money. Again, prevention is better than cure and it is very wise for you to ask for feedback in the community before delving completely on it.
1351  Economy / Gambling / Re: Researching for Upcoming Game on: December 20, 2022, 01:46:48 AM

I'm part of a team developing a crypto/blockchain game that has big $$ prize potential. I'm doing some research and hoping this community can help. If you guys have any insight/thoughts on the following questions please share them. We are really trying to build something that is enjoyable for the crypto gaming/gambling community.

- What are some current pain points in the crypto gaming/gambling space for players?

Generally, I think KYC was an issue for most players due to the sensitivity of information that they have to release. While this cannot be entirely avoided, I hope that there is a middle ground on how to address this.

Quote
- What would you like to see?

Definitely some new and interactive games. Given that there are lots of online gambling websites nowadays, you have to create your own identity and games in order to retain your customers.

Quote
- What makes one game fun to play -- more so than other competitors that have similar games (ex: why you enjoy playing crypto poker on X site rather than site A)?

I think it has something to do with the overall aesthetics of the website. Given that there are poker games in every gambling company, you have to create your own identity and make the game somehow interactive to introduce change.

Quote
- Aside from BitcoinTalk (this forum) where else do you get your news that you trust (which newsletters, sites, which Youtubers, any twitter accounts)?

Mostly on all social-media platforms. To be honest, this forum is my main repository of cryptocurrency news and I definitely trust the reviews/feedbacks that others give and their respective insights on a given issue.
1352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Go-to casino on: December 19, 2022, 06:45:18 PM
Hi guys, just interested what are your casino's of choice? Or just general online sites?
And what are your go-to games?

It depends on several factors but my go-to casino depends on their strict regulation. If you are curious in knowing what such factors are, then you should consider if an online gambling platform has KYC, free bonuses, sign-up freebies, and/or a consistent customer support service.

Basically, my go-to game is always blackjack due to the simplicity of it. Compared to other games, blackjack has that level of luck + skill combined where you based your decisions depending on a set of cards. Unlike slots in which you primarily result to absolute luck, in blackjack, there is still that element of skill + decision making whether to hit the cards or keep.
1353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Embarrassing First Bitcoin Lecture Attempt with my Colleagues on: December 19, 2022, 05:14:57 PM
<..snip..>

I know by then the AC would have been fixed but I want to ask members of this forum how do I overcome stage fright in my next meeting? This right now is my biggest worry and concern. I do not want to mess this up again. Please share some tips with me, Thank you.

Every presentation has to be associated with preparedness. No matter how knowledgeable you are on a certain topic, if you do not have any presentation available, then it is actually a recipe for disaster. I would definitely recommend creating a flowchart/framework on how you would be able to explain the fundamentals of BTC. Divide the sections and explain them as if you are explaining something to a 5-year old for them to easily understand.

Another recommendation is to show visual aids during your presentation. This will not only help them picture what you are discussing but this will also make the presentation more interesting.
1354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How are Online casino's and sports betting platforms coping? on: December 19, 2022, 03:45:03 PM
Online casinos and sports betting platforms are big businesses like we all know, and currently considering the economic situation of things around the world many businesses are affected and have been taking measures to cut costs in terms of reducing staff, taking loans etc to still be able to sustain operations. How do you think online casinos and sports betting platforms are adjusting to manage the situation?

I do think that they are in the best situation right now as they can take advantage of their platform- which is being exclusively online. They have the upper hand when it comes to this kind of situation since they can take advantage easily of their users in gambling on their own convenience.

Remember that COVID taught us that an online set-up is more productive and manageable. With their current existence primarily online, the convenience of gambling online has skyrocketed ever since. That is why, I doubt they are coping and struggling with the current situation.
1355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's been 2 months and now I am doing well.(I guess). on: December 19, 2022, 11:03:29 AM
So 2 months ago I started to accept Cryptocurrency as a payment system in my rice business.
....

First of all, congratulations on your business OP! You are actually living the dream that most have aspired- accepting cryptocurrency as an alternative payment in their respective businesses. I remember a thread was posted here asking if there are any small-scale businesses accepting cryptocurrency as a medium of payment and you are the living proof that you are practicing this system.

Just a quick question though, how do you accept cryptocurrency on your business? Did you create an external wallet in order to keep all the funds sent? Another thing, did you encounter any issues with the payment given that you receive them after the confirmation of blocks?
1356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do online casinos disadvantage some locations from winning big on: December 18, 2022, 06:33:02 PM
You know how casinos have set certain slots to only pay a certain amount to a winner, it it also possible that casinos are using an algorithm to limit how much it can payout for players coming from certain locations to avoid being dragged into legal disputes if a player is paid big money and the local authorities want to know the source and the alike?

I think some online casinos are designed an house edge in order to maintain their profits to their side. Maybe it is not in the form of algorithms but tit definitely has the device of having the edge on their side. Though this is the first time that I have heard about restricting their locations via changing their percentages of winning to their advantage in the event that the player is registered in a country that prohibits gambling.

Though this may be the case, I doubt that online gambling companies have such system stored and implemented. At the end of the day, if the person who gambles won but it was subsequently discovered that his act of gambling is prohibited, then the law enforcements of his/her country would do the rest of the arrests.
1357  Economy / Economics / Re: Forget a return to office: We’re living in the age of side hustles on: December 18, 2022, 11:29:00 AM
Generation Z appears to be the largest freelancing demographic. Which makes sense given they're probably the most internet and technology literate. I think generation Z is also the largest crypto using and supporting demographic.

With concerns lingering over future job automation and lack of wage growth. Could side hustles and freelancing work represent the natural progression for the future of job markets? If this is true, then could crypto also be prominently positioned to best leverage and fulfill needed areas of freelance finance, given its flexibility, adaptability and rapid deployment capabilities.

I do think that we are experiencing the era of side-hustles given that the technology worldwide is also developing in a rapid pace. Bearing this in mind, this creates an opportunity for the younger generation to explore this venture and see if they can actually profit from these side-hustles.

To be honest, this is the perfect time for everyone to experience the profitable side of cryptocurrencies. Its reputation across the globe is steadily increasing and more and more companies are starting to adopt it on their financials.
1358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are we ever going to see this on gambling platforms some day. on: December 18, 2022, 10:52:19 AM
Is there any fighting game like Mortal Kombat where you challenge gamers around the world taking a bet? I don't want to take bet on Mike Tyson or Joshua I want gaming by one self, I believe this is less dependant on Luck, this requires more skill than mere luck.

This is very interesting- I hope they do implement this kind of activity in some gambling websites to provide more action. I guess this e-sports somehow fill this role where a competitive scene can be seen and experienced.

It is a valid example of Player versus player, but what I have said still stands, since unlike mortal kombat, dices are completely based on luck and OP specifically mentioned a game which is skill based. He wants to earn money by being good at playing.

Still, I feel curious on how Duelbits takes profit off those PvP dices, do you know what percentage they take from gamblers wager?

I am not sure how many percentage but I am sure that they do have profit from each PvP done on their gambling site. Was PvP gaming really that popular? I visited a month ago the Duelbits but I only see few rooms available and it would took you sometime before you would be able to find a match.

Oh interesting so duelbits actually implemented this kind of gameplay on their website. How did it garner traction among its users? I guess the difficulty lies on the number of people that are interested in playing the game.
1359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New Solution to Address the Problem of Gambling in Australia. on: December 18, 2022, 09:15:32 AM
I think it's a good idea. Anything that helps to curb people who get out of control with gambling and end up losing much more than they can afford, even if they are in debt, is a good thing. Although it seems to me that with the ease of credit today the effect will be small. Nowadays many people have a pre-conceded personal that with two clicks on their cell phone they get the money in their account. Or instead of spending the credit card you can spend all the money you have in the casino and then pay the month's expenses with the credit card.

I have already said that I think it is positive but it will not be a panacea.

I definitely agree with your statement.

The feeling that a person has the power to spend due to credits is just potentially dangerous. They can definitely spend their month's savings in a day of gambling depending on the circumstances. Such kind of action is significantly detrimental not only to the lives of these gamblers but also to the credit company in realizing their payments. I hope that Australia becomes more proactive when it comes to solutions in dealing with gambling addiction.
1360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Small Scale Businesses should accept Cryptocurrencies as a medium of payment on: December 17, 2022, 05:49:32 PM
What would be your opinion about this, OP?

It's easy to say this and that but once there's a regulation it would hinder them from acquiring cryptocurrency. There are places in the world that doesn't like the existence of crypto currency especially the Bitcoin where no single entity controls it.

If the bigger business firm would have a problem accepting/using cryptocurrency/Bitcoin, then what makes you think the small scale businesses won't have a problem either?

I think the advantage of small-scale businesses is its regulation with the laws. Given that they are only "small-scale," the some government institutions somehow waives the right for them to comply with the existing licenses as a form of support and help. A good example is here in the Philippines, street vendors are not required to file taxes as a form of privilege to the needy.

I hope the government somehow adopts the same concept with cryptocurrency when it comes to regulation. The fact that there is that potential of cryptocurrency becoming an alternative currency for their services/products, the hope still remains that it will soon be accepted as a whole.
