Funny, none of you had any objection whatsoever when the same was done in my case.

Funny indeed. He didn't PM me about you, I wonder why.

Probably because I was never on your trust list, but those that had me on their trust list were requested to exclude me, and not a peep of objection from any of you objecting here today was heard.
4262  Other / Meta / Re: PM from admin demanding to exclude a certain user on: June 12, 2019, 09:58:09 PM
Since the "Lauda PM" is now public knowledge let me just state that this sort of thing - forum owner/admin sending a PM demanding "recommending" to exclude a certain user from my trust network - is deeply unwelcome. Theymos can blacklist anyone he wants, there is no need for him to coerce others into doing this. At the very least this call for action should have been done publicly. I want to put this out in case anyone wants to exclude (or blacklist  Wink) me for this opinion.

Not sure if this is more a Meta topic or a Reputation topic, feel free to move as appropriate.

Funny, none of you had any objection whatsoever when the same was done in my case.
4263  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Socialism is so bad that it allows poor people to live. Horrible true story on: June 12, 2019, 09:42:19 PM
None of this is "hypothetical" or "sometimes".  The graph I posted is actual spending and actual outcomes.  The trendline represents the affect spending has on outcome and the countries below that line (mainly the us) are wasting money while the countries above the line are getting health outcomes out of something besides money.

Who knew you could get a better bang for your buck if you stopped giving trillions away to middle men?

Not so difficult to see what the other 19 countries have in common.  At least half of the money we spend is literally just being donated to the private sector.  4500 dollars per person per year being burned and thats the most conservative estimate.  Its probably more like 7,000 if you consider the average spending for our life expectancy.

I find it terrifying you are teaching other people. Who taught you how to source? I see a meaningless picture.
4264  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bill gator - Account seller on: June 12, 2019, 09:25:59 PM
yes this is why I won't vote on this.

I really think the simple solution is to mark a sold account as sold.
Or risk red tags if hiding the account.

As for doing business it is a double edged sword.  Some sales to some people don't reveal much about the person.

But in bill's case I know his real name and real address  this is worthwhile info and helps for trusting a person.

I do see why you are pushing the issue as we both agree on the idea in bold type.

Hopefully it gets sorted out.
I already told bill the start of the solution to his problem: new, publicly-admitted, alt account. Lock down and stop using the bought account. This is the best way to remedy the situation, whilst keeping the buying accounts is terrible policy consistent. If a user is legitimate, they will have absolutely no trouble re-proving their worth.

well you are offering a solution

@ bill  can't you reach out and try to fix this lauda does have a solution here that could work.

I hate to see this kind of infighting as there are some real scumbags here on BCTalk and better members fighting amongst ourselves is not the way to go.

Since the energy spent here could be used against  others that truly deserve .

Bill if you lock the purchased account down you can refer to it and to this thread not as a "Lauda and bitcointalk fucked me concept"  but as a way to show the dangers of sold accounts.   Maybe thyrmos (sp)   would alter policy and simply mark all sold accounts as sold on DD//DD

we all could go back to looking after the scammers and not infight.

I am trying to broker a solution that the older longtime people here think works.

I for one
would offer to help you start a new account because it would show you do have the ability to work with others.

This is all I got.

OOOOoor, Bill Gator can continue to live his life without bowing to every dictate Lauda demands as if they are some kind of lord over the entire forum, and Lauda can just deal with the loss of their dictatorial control like an adult.
4265  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bill gator - Account seller on: June 12, 2019, 03:29:42 PM
It's not an accusation thread, so the flag needs no discussing. You either support it or you don't. Dodgy individuals like gator can lock original threads (which they started) in order to prevent getting flagged on it directly (hence the need for such threads).

The entire purpose of requiring a flag thread is to allow open discussion of the circumstances and whether they justify a flag.

You sure are a pleasant one to engage with.
I wonder whose alts you will be. Roll Eyes
Be wary with thy merit, feline friend. Anticipate the incontinence of one's ability to hold back on the alt accusation.

Has Lauda totally lost it now and their mind has finally fractured into multiple personalities conversing with themselves?
4267  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: June 12, 2019, 02:15:46 PM

I am one of the world's foremost experts on quasi-law, after all. Surely you've read my widely-cited article in the Journal of Laws or Whatever titled, "A new approach to the rigorous design of legal systems: just worry about it later."

I especially like your cod quasi-legalese jargon.
Did you type the following with a quill stylus?

Quote
violated a casual or implied agreement, resulting in damages, in the specific act referenced

Quote
make the victims of this act roughly whole, AND it is not the case that all of the victims forgave the act. It is not grossly inaccurate to say that the act occurred

Agreed. Kudos for preempting the semantic circus and being specific. You can definitely tell he consulted some legal guides  Tongue

4269  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bill gator - Account Buyer on: June 12, 2019, 01:06:22 PM
Since theymos introduced a flawed flag system, this has to be done. Original thread is locked and can't be directly quoted from.
Original thread/proof is found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5145840.
Flag link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=47.

Local rule; the following users are not allowed to post: Quickseller, TECHSHARE, OgNasty, bill gator, cryptohunter and anyone else with more negative ratings than other ratings (people without ratings excl. newly created shill accounts are welcome).

I have already been over this before. Theymos is not going to enforce local rules where you prohibit people from defending the accused in these threads. Good luck trying though. BTW, who is TECHSHARE?
4270  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Blockchain the solution to the whole abortion drama? on: June 12, 2019, 12:50:31 PM
Yeah but you are a misogynist therefore I need not argue any of your points and I can ignore everything you just said.

Apparently it's misogynistic to point out the general increase in sexual activity/number of partners (which was one of the points of the feminist revolution) or how they are throwing away their most productive years because they've been led to believe they can "have it all". Thank you for the polite correspondence, glad it didn't lead to extreme name calling like I usually see happen in this section.

If it was not clear, I was being facetious. I know sarcasm can be difficult for some non-native English speakers (not that your English isn't perfect).
4271  Other / Meta / Re: Say Bye to Trust Drama, Welcome Flags on: June 12, 2019, 11:19:04 AM
There will be even more drama than before. Cheesy

I am sure you will see to that.
4272  Economy / Reputation / Re: 304th most trusted? WAT? Can anyone explain this for me? on: June 12, 2019, 11:14:12 AM
So basically until everyone is re-scraped the list is going to be inaccurate, but will largely return to the previous status once complete?
I'm not so sure.

Vod's previous ranking was based on trust score, which as you know became stronger over time. Given that that score no longer exists, I assume the new ranking will simply be based on number of unique positives minus number of unique negatives, unless Vod wishes to implement a new formula. This would likely mean many people sharing the same rank, as positive scores are now in the range of 0 to 66 instead of 0 to 660.

I don't know if this will make a big difference for users like yourself who have lots of unique positive ratings and won't share that exact number with many other users.

After further examination this is also my conclusion.
4273  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller vs cleaning up the forum on: June 12, 2019, 11:13:21 AM

I will not be following any broken formats. He can either fix it or blacklist me because I flagged a known scammer if he wants create damage the common good. Up to him. Last change made DT less relevant, this change makes it next to completely irrelevant. I don't care about nor support liberalist bullshit.
I am sorry, you just don't know it yet. It's too early to call it broken format.
There, you can have your shit format by using this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153480. The system is a joke, yet the right people remain excluded (that's something).

You are soon to join that list since you insist on dictating your own rules upon the entire forum.
4274  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller - Escrow Scammer on: June 12, 2019, 11:10:23 AM
1. You are not a claimant (victim), thus by Theymos's standards you are not permitted to create a contractual violation flag.

Just to confirm, you are not allowed to create a contract violation flag unless you were personally harmed, correct?

Correct.

2. The affected parties were not only refunded, they have forgiven Quickseller.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1171059.msg12352452#msg12352452

"Lauda alleged the following, but later withdrew it: Quickseller violated a written contract, resulting in damages, in the specific act referenced here. Quickseller did not make the victims of this act roughly whole, AND it is not the case that all of the victims forgave the act. It is not grossly inaccurate to say that the act occurred around September 2015. No previously-created flag covers this same act, unless the flag was created with inaccurate data preventing its acceptance."

You are endorsing a false statement. No damages were incurred, any fees for services not actually rendered have been refunded, and those effected have forgiven Quickseller.

3. That is a cute local rule excluding people from defending themselves, or those most likely to defend them from posting. Also local rules not added with the original post are not valid. You edited the OP to add the local rule after I posted. Good luck getting that enforced.

Quote for reference:

Since theymos introduced a flawed flag system, this has to be done. Original thread is locked and can't be directly quoted from. Every escrow deal ever conducted possibly has a victim in it, thus the damage has always been extensive.

I wouldn't have come across this if it hadn't been for the long saga of quickseller abuse I've been suffering.  But recently he's started using a new alt/sockpuppet to try to attack me and I started looking more closely at the situation.  I realized that it seems that Panthers52 has done several deals which were escrowed by Quickseller.  The fact that Quickseller is escrowing for himself seems like a scammy behavior.  I'm not a trader here so it may be that there's nothing wrong with this.  But in any case, I'll go ahead and present some quantitative evidence here and you guys can discuss it as you please.
You can read the full story by clicking on the quote or by using this link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1171059.

Therefore, a newly created flag would be valid and should remain active for all eternity (IMO - 10 years is nothing for this scammer). Flags can't be edited, flags can't be removed nor updated.

Local rule; the following users are not allowed to post: Quickseller, TECHSHARE, OgNasty, cryptohunter and anyone else with more negative ratings than other ratings (people without ratings excl. newly created shill accounts are welcome).

So basically until everyone is re-scraped the list is going to be inaccurate, but will largely return to the previous status once complete?
I would expect so Smiley

It seems to me the previous formula for calculating ranking may be broken, or at least less accurate after some further examination. I guess time will tell.
4276  Economy / Reputation / Re: 304th most trusted? WAT? Can anyone explain this for me? on: June 12, 2019, 10:43:28 AM
Can anyone explain what is going on here?
BPIP needs to scrape all profiles again to read the new Trust scores, and before that, Vod probably has to implement a fix. Update: It scrapes the new value already.
The ones above you haven't been scraped yet after the changes, they'll drop in Trust score when that happens.

You can click "Refresh" on other profiles, I just tested it on Blazed, his Trust score dropped from 659 to 66 (and his position from #1 to #139).

Thanks for the quick reply. So basically until everyone is re-scraped the list is going to be inaccurate, but will largely return to the previous status once complete?
4277  Economy / Reputation / 304th most trusted? WAT? Can anyone explain this for me? on: June 12, 2019, 10:07:56 AM
So I was looking over my stats as the new trust system changes were implemented, and earlier today I was ranked 16th most trusted. I checked just now and I am ranked 304th most trusted (and dropping). I assume it has to do with the new trust system changes, but the rest of the ranking don't seem wildly effected. Can anyone explain what is going on here?
4278  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller vs cleaning up the forum on: June 12, 2019, 09:45:15 AM
This is fundamental flaw in the flag design and can be skipped. I'm not letting scammers like Quickseller go because I just didn't happen to be a victim too. Roll Eyes If mr. Theymos really insists, I can make a duplicate thread of an existing thread from 2015 just to link that in the flag. What does this accomplish exactly? Nothing.

Since when did Lauda become the admin and get to decide the metrics by which the forum is run?

I will not be following any broken formats. He can either fix it or blacklist me because I flagged a known scammer if he wants create damage the common good. Up to him. Last change made DT less relevant, this change makes it next to completely irrelevant. I don't care about nor support liberalist bullshit.

You heard it here folks. It is now time for any respectable users intent on using the trust system as designed to start excluding Lauda. It didn't make the DT less relevant, it just made you less relevant.
4279  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Socialism is so bad that it allows poor people to live. Horrible true story on: June 12, 2019, 09:39:27 AM
Another point of interest might be how health provision is changing in my country, the UK. We are gradually moving from an almost French system towards an American system as our fascination with privatisation takes a greater and greater hold. Services are suffering as money gets sucked out by private companies.

I won't deny that nationalised industries can suffer from inefficiency and bloat, but equally it is impossible to deny that once something is privatised, the whole purpose switches from quality of service provision to share price and shareholder dividends.

Funny thing is that... Same in France...

We have the best and most efficient healthcare system in the worls, absolutely all studies and associations agree on that, but no we're going full speed towards privatization.

Who gains from this?
I'm sure you can guess.

You could try to argue a rock dropped, in mid air is in fact flying, but trends and time will demonstrate without a doubt it is falling. Just as cutting your own arm off to nourish yourself might work for a short period of time, eventually you run out of limbs to amputate.

"Copayment/Deductibles. 10% to 40% copayments.

Technology. The government does not reimburse new technologies very generously and because of global budgets and fee restrictions, there is little incentive to make capital investments in medical technology.

Waiting Times. France has generally avoided waiting lists, likely due to the fairly high coinsurance charges. Recent trends towards Increased restrictions, reduced reimbursement rates, and rationing has increased wait times however.

Tanner’s summary. “To sum up: the French health care system clearly works better than most national health care systems. Despite some problems, France has generally avoided the rationing inherent in other systems. However, the program is threatened by increasing costs and may be forced to resort to rationing in the future.”"

https://www.healthcare-economist.com/2008/04/14/health-care-around-the-world-france/

"Indeed, in a World Health Organisation comparison of 191 different countries, France came out at number one.

It’s important to be clear, however: Beyond legitimate questions about the WHO’s methodology, the ranking itself dates from 2000. That said, France remains on top of the list, because it was the first and last such ranking conducted by the WHO. Since then, France has occupied a number of positions in other rankings, depending on their criteria and definition of what constitutes a “good” health care system.

A July 2017 analysis by the New York–based Commonwealth Fund compared the health care systems of 11 industrialized countries. They put France at number 10, just above the United States, with the United Kingdom at number one. Yet in another ranking – published in May by The Lancet, it looked at 195 countries – the UK was ranked 26th, while France came in 15th. And in the top position, the tiny principality of Andorra. All this demonstrates just how difficult it is to interpret such rankings."

https://theconversation.com/how-healthy-is-the-french-health-system-83329

While these systems may function for a time, bureaucratic bloat uninhibited by market forces always takes over.

4280  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why don't we set up capitalist and socialist communes to test which is better? on: June 12, 2019, 09:03:02 AM
It wouldn't be a scalable test. Socialism/Capitalism only really works at small scale. Also Socialism/Communism require Capitalism to function, but not vice versa.

Scale argument is dumb as there is no reason for a system to work on a scale and not work on another one.

Also you have the idea that communism requires capitalism which is false, it's just that capitalism was first so communism can only emerge from a capitalist country. It doesn't mean it needs it, it's just that it doesn't have any other choice.

Scalability is in fact a very valid argument. Small Socialist/Communist organizations can work because the members of the group all know each other, have high levels of trust, as well as accountability. At scale none of these factors are valid any longer. Simply look at the death of gifting based economies brought on by outside influence for further evidence of this. Communism does in fact require Capitalism to function, and your argument of what came first is incorrect if not asinine. Humanity for most of human history consisted of small collectives that were largely indistinguishable from Communism. Market economies of scale are largely a new invention, while the basic concepts of "free markets" or open trade are not at all new. The fact is even these communes relied upon market trade in order to function, as would modern Communism. The fact is Communism provides disincentive to create resources as personal responsibility is collectivized to the whole. Capitalism creates the required inductive force to motivate actors within it to create the capital goods required for either system to exist. Communism is neither effective nor efficient at managing and creating these requirements, hence Communism requires Capitalism, but Capitalism does not require Communism. This is something even Karl Marx himself admits.

"What we have to deal with here is a communist society, not as it has developed on its own foundations, but, on the contrary, just as it emerges from capitalist society; which is thus in every respect, economically, morally, and intellectually, still stamped with the birthmarks of the old society from whose womb it emerges." - Critique of the Gotha Program, April-May 1875, Karl Marx, P. 5
