541  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fixedfloat is scamming me for 8000+ EUR IMPORTANT PSA! on: February 19, 2024, 09:02:44 PM
Fixedfloat has been hacked and lost 26 million US dollars.
I think this hack could easily shut them FixedFloat, but I really don't understand how any exchange nowadays can keep that amount of money in hot wallets and servers  Roll Eyes
It's not that hard to set up cold wallets and multisig setup to prevent this from happening, this will add some complexity and it could slow down things, but security would be much better.
I wonder if this could be revenge of someone who got their money seized on Fixedfloat, or something bigger is behind this attack...

This is the message I see on their website:

542  Other / Meta / Re: A copy button for [code] blocks (SMF patch) on: February 19, 2024, 08:37:29 PM
This is something @libert19 suggested last year. I think it's a good idea: manually copy-pasting BBCode to update your signature is a bit error-prone (not everyone is as careful as they should be, and, although I don't really mess with mobile, I'm guessing that it's even more finicky on a phone/tablet). Besides that, it's just a nice, unobtrusive little time-saver (I bump into [code] blocks quite often on Bitcointalk, so I think this will be pretty handy beyond the use-case that inspired it).
PowerGlove strikes yet again  Cool
I like this idea for another SMF patch and I think this could be used even for other things, not only for signature codes.
First thing that pops in my mind is using it for longer codes and for long list of user names or wallet addresses, and I think something similar in other forums.
Style B is better option if you ask me, but both of them are good.
543  Other / Meta / Re: Why suddenly Cloudflare Human Verification is Coming Up? on: February 19, 2024, 08:28:30 PM
I have seen a lot more cloudlfare verification messages popping up, but this is happening on many other websites, no only in bitcointalk forum.
Honestly I never liked cloudflare, but nobody ever released any decent alternative to protect against ddos attacks.
This makes using Tor browser very challenging sometimes  Tongue
544  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum (official|) copied address doesnt appear on: February 19, 2024, 08:16:39 PM
So I downloaded the official Electrum, copied the address from the receive request generated. added that to Kraken to download the btc.
You can't download bitcoin, you can only withdraw it from exchange wallet to your own.

I waited and waited and nothing happened so after advice I checked that address in the list of addresses in Electrum (33 of them) and that one doesnt appear anywhere so;
where has my btc gone, where has that address gone? is all lost?
First you should check transaction link you received on your Kraken account and see if transaction is confirmed and completed.
Addresses are not gone anywhere in Electrum, balance should appear when everything is completed, and each time new address will be generated.
545  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: February 17, 2024, 09:01:55 PM
If those are issued in the US then that answers it, US cards are always finding a way to be a pain in the ass to use in Europe.
Not really.
I know people who used US issued cards many times without an issue.

Yeah that sounds reasonable and not much different than what I was doing with Binance card.
And I would not be surprised if secret investor for bit.store cards was also someone from binance  Wink
Anyway, they found a way for this cards to work both with and without kyc, and they can't be easily banned by regulators becasue they are not directly connected with exchanges.
546  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: February 17, 2024, 08:54:59 PM
The scope of our guarantee depends on the service in question. With FixedFloat we are unable to offer refunds if the coins were frozen due to taint. Nonetheless, in cases like this, if a user reaches out to us, we intervene and try to assist them in getting their money back. In this recent case we did just that and the user got all their funds back.
I am glad to hear that, and someone should update that info in scam accusation board.
It is always worth checking for best exchange rates and to exchange coins with help of Orangefren.
Maybe you should start some type of affiliate program.

However, with for instance eXch, our guarantee agreement offers a full refund to a user in the event of freezing due to taint.
They are good, and we need more exchanges like that.
Is it possible for you to somehow add Bisq and Agoradesk rates?
547  Economy / Reputation / Re: A clear change in airfinex's posting pattern. on: February 17, 2024, 08:24:54 PM
airfinex is obviously an alt account, which until now had been characterized by playing a role of "vigilante" so to speak in forum issues. Most of his posts were written in Reputation and he was the first to draw attention to Ratimov's plagiarism, for example.
I had this member on my ignore list for a while so I don't know what he wrote after that, but I don't see any usual signs of account changing hands, there was no email and password reset, and he is only a Full Member.
There is however obvious change of writing style and he started making posts in gambling board, so anything is possible.
548  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: February 16, 2024, 12:41:19 PM
Long overdue update done.
You need to update again and check all the links manually.
Two cards from this list are not available anymore, that is Blockcard and Spend, but maybe there are more of them that needs to be removed.

Do you guys think I should erase my squabbling with Symmetrick from post #5 and make them reserved posts instead?
I think it's fine to do that.
549  Economy / Reputation / Re: Where do we draw a line? Signature campaigns or shilling campaigns on: February 16, 2024, 11:52:32 AM
Who knows, maybe after matches and training he spending his free time to make some trades Cheesy And if he would start doing something simiar what Musk did on social media, I gues that his influence would be quite big lol.

Elon Musk is a clown and fake puppet.
I just gave one example but it's the same thing with everything else that is advertised, especially with people involved with sports.
People advertise stuff they don't use, eat or drink all the time.

Don't tell a lie about me and I won't tell the truth on you  Wink
Look I will tell you something about scammer that registered in 2011 called MemoryDealers and I know his ''alt account'' but he has pigeon size brain and serious mental problems.
He registered in forum in the same year 2011 and he is from the same country, so he must be the same guy, that is the logic of the bird size brain pathetic ev driver.   Roll Eyes
Someone seriously need to sign him up in Pilgrim Center and I hear Cook County has very nice facility also.
550  Economy / Reputation / Re: Which campaign has the most spammers? on: February 16, 2024, 11:28:46 AM
Stake doesn't care who they hire, as long as they post a lot (of BS). Their spam was called out 5 years ago, and it's still going.
You missed one of the biggest spammers and pathetic liars in this forum under number 31 that is also a member of the same spam gang.
Only thing that ruined his percentage is temp ban for making personal threats Cry
551  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: February 15, 2024, 09:49:35 PM
Ha ha, my request on adding the master seed SeedQR-export into future release didn't    leave Foundation  hanging. The coming v.2.3.0 will implement it  as it is evidenced by beta variant  already dangling on the official github. Among other noticeable features is long expected (at least by me) " native OP_RETURN message viewing and signing". What a release!
Very nice mister Contributor  Cool

We read everything posted here and take any feature requests into consideration. We appreciate your input! This next release is pretty massive.
Can we expect anything special coming from Foundations around Bitcoin Halving date?

I know few other hardware wallet manufacturers are working on releasing special bitcoin only editions, and maybe there will be some discounts available.

552  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coldcard on: February 15, 2024, 09:35:35 PM
Sincere ColdCard is one of the more expensive wallets that you can buy I would also think it is a shame if they would stop the support of the MK3 so quickly. In some European countries you are now even allowed to request a full refund if there are no software updates for at least 2 years after purchase.
I don't think they are more expensive, it's similar price like worst ledger X, and with some coupons it can be even cheaper.
Now, I don't like coldcard, I don't support anything NVK is doing and I am boycotting all their products, but I am simply stating the facts.
And I think coldcard is based in Canada so good luck asking for refund, especially if you paid with bitcoin.

The intention is that you will have at least 2 year of updates from the day of the purchase.
I am sure that is only for smartphones and maybe computers, not for toasters or wristwatches.  Wink
553  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite now supports coin control on: February 15, 2024, 09:22:13 PM
Heads up everyone who is using Trezor Suite app, they just released new v24.2.1 pre-release version and there are some major redesign changes, so don't be surprised.
You don't have to install anything yet, this will soon be released in normal release, but it takes some time to get used to new interface that is similar like in Trezor mobile app.
I actually prefer the old style, but new one is more compact, and they fixed some bugs:

554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help with a list of ALL non custodial wallet before 2019. on: February 15, 2024, 09:06:58 PM
I switched from wallet because I wanted to collect my forks and I did collect those. Only I can't remember which wallet I placed my btc. I have the computer still in place where I did everything on. I just need remember where to search for I probably hidden the seed phrase on the computer.
Did you install it or you used standalone version? And what operating system you are using on computer?
If your wallet was installed in windows than you can easily find the list of installed programs.
I would first search for Electrum, as most forked shitcoins forked this wallet also.
555  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: February 15, 2024, 08:40:56 PM
Their rates are also not the best. It's always 5$ + 2.5%. It only pays off if you use high values.
Don't compare all cards only by fees.
You can't find any other 3ds card in the world without kyc, so fees can't be the same like without 3ds, and they have other cards with lower fees.

What I think is the worst thing about prepaid cards is that it is not possible to top up, so there usually always ends up being some money left over, even if it is little.
Some cards are allowing withdrawals and top ups, so do your research better, but I don't care about leftovers unless they are sats.

Aren't all cards issued by a company in the EU required to have 3DS as part of PSD2 in the EU?
I remember that 2021 was the end of the delay will it became mandatory.
I think stealths cards are issued in United States, but you should better ask them how they are doing it.
From their website 3ds card:
Quote
The card is issued by U.S. bank. Card base balance is USD, after activation EUR amount of payment will be converted to USD and added to your card balance. It can be used internationally with different currencies, there isn't any currency conversion fee.

Then again, who dares to put bigger amount in one of those no KYC cards? Catch 22 if you ask me.
I would not put a lot of money there, but few hundred dollars is acceptable risk for me, for someone else this amount could be lower or higher.
If I need to buy something I send coins, I create a card and spend everything on purchase, so I dont keep money on cards.
556  Economy / Reputation / Re: Since Richbased locked his thread.... on: February 15, 2024, 07:59:20 PM
You are probably missing the fact that both accounts are involved in taking no-collateral loans on the forum, so their potential connection matters in terms of reputation and trust.  I mean, if they were just your average Joes, no one would bat an eye about them being alt accounts. But since they're knee-deep in potentially dodgy stuff, well, that's a different story, wouldn't you say?
You have one chance to guess what country is Boy_chef coming from... aaaand you are right, he is also from Nigeria Wink
How convenient from him do unexpectedly drop in just in this topic after long period of inactivity.
This is obviously just another one of his alt accounts  Roll Eyes

558  Economy / Reputation / Re: Casino employees/promoters giving red trust to victims on: February 14, 2024, 04:59:20 PM
I am sick of this clowns and I would ignore anything written by member JCLadisav because this is obvious just a puppet alt account of someone who is buthurt about specific casino.
If you want to see who the original owner is look who wrote most post recently about casino (probably Sportsbet) and who is obsessed with them.
My ignore list is getting bigger.
559  Economy / Reputation / Re: Impersonation of my wallet address. on: February 14, 2024, 04:50:47 PM
It got to my knowledge that a user here, agbamoni who mistakingly used my wallet address to apply for a loan.
Only mistake here was done by you entering wrong wallet address, and now you are trying to act all surprised about this.
There is nothing wrong in using alt accounts, but there is no chance of this happening with address in Lending board.
I would love to hear what story you have to tell us next, maybe you two know each other since you both are from same country. Smiley
560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to have reasonable privacy safely when paying? on: February 14, 2024, 12:06:55 PM
Say I want to meet with someone that sells an item or service, how do I pay this person without revealing your funds?
You will have to reveal some your funds when paying with bitcoin, at least partially.
With right address management and with help of coinjoin, mixing and joinmarket you will significantly reduce the risk of someone knowing everything about your coins and transaction history.
Another solution is to use Lightning Network and second layer solutions like Liquid Network with L-BTC that has confidential transactions, and I think this is perfect for spending account.

2) In order to send the coins into the Android software, you have to transact from Bitcoin Core, into the mixer, then into the Android software address. This is a lot wasted in fees. There is no way to save some money in this process?
You can do the same thing I wrote above, use Lightning and/or Liquid Network and you will save on fees and time.
