1501  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 39 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: July 27, 2023, 01:46:35 PM
@maxirosson
You need to make one small update on TheBitcoinHole website for Coolwallet Pro SE hardware wallet, as they now switched to Open Source license, like I explained in one of my previous posts:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5288971.msg62609304#msg62609304

We still didn't saw any confirmation from other websites like Wallet Scrutiny or Bitcoin Binary if code is reproducible or not, but they released source code yesterday, so I would give them some time to catch up.
1502  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [LIST] Open Source Hardware Wallets on: July 27, 2023, 01:35:02 PM
List of Open Source hardware wallets is updated today with few new additions.
CoolWallet yesterday release Open Source code for their Coolwallet Pro SE hardware wallet and they posted it on their github page, so you can report any bugs you notice.
Note that this device is based on Java Card OpenPlatform, but some crypto algorithms can't be open source due to license constraints.
At this moment we have no information if firmware for CoolWallet S regular version will also be released as open source or not.

Coolwallet Pro SE source code:
https://github.com/CoolBitX-Technology/coolwallet-pro-se

Coolwallet blog article explaining this decision:
https://www.coolwallet.io/coolwallet-will-open-source-its-hardware-wallets-secure-element-chip-code/

OneKey Touch was added along with other two models from OneKey (CLassic and Mini).
Another addition is upcoming Keystone3 devices, that includes both regular and pro version.
1503  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: July 27, 2023, 01:21:57 PM
New wallet Keystone3 is ready to be released and they have interesting news and changes regarding secure elements.
Unlike in previous version where they didn't want to disclose everything, now they introduced upgraded secure element Microchip ATECC608B.
Same microchip is used in ColdCard Mk4, BitBox and Passport, OneKey, Cypherock X1, Husky are all using older version of this chip ATECC608A that had some security issues.

But this is just first part of the story, as Keystone3 uses additional secure element Maxim DS28S60 that works together with ATECC608B in safeguarding seed phrases.
ATECC608B provides hardware-level security and authorization, and Maxim DS28S60 ensures that trusted platform module is always in place.

Third secure element Maxim MAX32520 is used for securing fingerprint data, so I think this will be used only in Keystone3 Pro version.
Regular Keystone3 wallet will have only two secure elements, and that is perfectly fine if you don't like to use biometrics.

Thanks to this changes Keystone will now be able to store up to three seed phrases with different passwords, so there is no need to reset or have multiple devices anymore.
I think this will push other hardware wallet manufacturers to improve, and they will have hard time competing with Keystone prices.

1504  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: July 27, 2023, 12:58:36 PM
Keystone just released new blog article and we now have official prices for new Keystone 3 devices and they are not bad at all compared to other hardware wallets.
Keystone 3 price is going to be $99 and Keystone 3 Pro version (with biometrics) price is going to be $129, and maybe there will be some additional discount for people who first got whitelisted.
That is significantly lower price compared with OneKey, Trezor T, Passport and other hardware wallets, and it's one of the first device with three secure elements, and ability to store three seed phrases.

Another thing I noticed today is changed Logo on their X-twitter page is the new logo, so I am think they are in process of rebranding.

@KeystoneWallet

I think that's more than enough lifespan for a device of this type because I doubt that anyone would want to use some old piece of hardware for their finances for say 10 years or more.
Any lithium battery will die way before that even if it is maintained in a best way, but I hope there is still an option to power USB cable and power on device.

Unfortunately, this makes it quite unsuited as a long-term / semi-cold-storage option. On a Passport, you can pop out the Li-Ion battery if you know the device won't be used for 6 months, which greatly reduces risk of pillowing.
I agree it's better to have removable battery, but I think you can easily have additional external battery connected with USB cable, or just connect it directly with power source.
Passport is more quality device but it's double the price of Keystone, so I wouldn't complain very much Wink

1505  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Travel to the Caribbean with BTC on: July 26, 2023, 01:41:04 PM
We are hosting our first Roatan Bitcoin Experience tour.  Roatan is an island in the Caribbean and it is located off the coast of Honduras (central america). We have been a mission to make Roatan the Bitcoin Island of the Caribbean and so far it's been amazing. If you would be interested in something like this. Reach out to me. The first one is set to start September 4th and its for 11 days. Bitcoin is widely accepted here on Roatan and we have a big and great Bitcoin community.
Tell us more about this and post some images/videos if you can.
This is the first time I hear about Roatan island... but with population of around 110,000 people this would be a good place for Bitcoin adoption.
I don't know is Roatan have any connections with Honduras, and what kind of regulations they have, but I see they are interesting destination for cruise ships and that usually means lot of tourists.

1506  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Payment processor hacked, more than $23M in crypto stolen on: July 26, 2023, 01:11:23 PM
It probably helps if the national government protects hackers, instead of arresting them.
Aren't all governments doing that already?
It's not a secret that US is doing that and they even admitted that in public several times, especially when hackers have the option to choose prison or legal hacking for government  Tongue
This old Guardian article claims that 25% of all hackers in US are working for government, and I am 100% that number is much higher now:

I'm incredibly excited to share something groundbreaking with all of you – the Vultor Mobile POS and Crypto NFC Card. As the CEO of Vultor, I can't wait to show you how this innovation will transform the crypto world.
Do we really need to have another ICO token pre-sale for this service?  Roll Eyes
I was opening Vultor website and I saw a big popup advertisement and presale for yet another shitcoin, so even if your company is legit I immediately get turned off after seeing this.
Another thing I noticed is claim that Vultor Cards will have no limits nor restrictions, and I seriously doubt that, since we need to use Vultor website/app aka V-Dashboard for everything.

What makes us stand out is Vultor's full cryptocurrency license, facilitating seamless transactions between fiat and crypto. This ensures a smooth and secure experience, whether dealing with traditional currencies or cryptocurrencies.
Can you please show use this License?
1508  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: July 26, 2023, 12:49:39 PM
But the July contest hasn't been launched yet, has it?
Maybe, just for August, if it's still a marketing strategy they're using/planning.
What do you mean exactly?
Just scroll down in Games & rounds and you can clearly see the topic for July Bitcoin Price Prediction Challenge,
and for August prediction new topic should be created around the first five days of the month, at least this was Sinbad practice in previous months, and they are doing this price prediction promotions since December 2022.
1509  Other / Meta / Re: How Can We Identify Someone Who Uses AI? on: July 26, 2023, 12:19:51 PM
Another reason why some forums (such as Stack Overflow) have banned the use of AI is they often give wrong answers, which I do see happening from time to time...
I would love to see this AI ChatGPT ban in bitcointalk forum, but I think it's not always easy to identify AI super-plagiarism.
From my testing of ChatGPT I found out that AI is stupid and it doesn't know what is right or wrong, but it's very good in plagiarism and repeating stuff developers feed it.
1510  Other / Meta / Re: AI-generated post discussion thread: how to identify & report on: July 26, 2023, 12:07:35 PM
I don't think it has much to do with the fact that AI is evolving day by day. Yes, this fact is important, but it will not be the main element.
I wouldn't say AI is evolving at all by itself, there are people behind who are changing the code and they feed it with new information all the time.

There are 1001 ways to say the same thing. Unless there is a clearly identifying pattern, it is very difficult to find out whether a text is made by an AI rather than a human. If we already know how the person habitually writes, it will be easier to detect if this way suddenly changes. Otherwise, it gets pretty difficult.
Yeah but AI is not inventing anything new, it only uses old stuff that other people wrote before, and it combines this from several sources.
This is nothing else than mass plagiarism, and it's all coming only from bias government approved sources, so you can't get different opinion from AI.
Easy way for me to identify if something is AI or not would be talking with it for few minutes, and I can do the same thing with AI suspected members in bitcointalk forum.
1511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active members are promoting Bitcoin mixers, betting or casino. Lmao. on: July 26, 2023, 11:46:33 AM
Just joined BitcoinTalk forum and I must say, I'm quite surprised to see that it has turned into a place where 50% of the forum active members are promoting Bitcoin mixers, betting or casinos. Was hoping for more discussions on the technology and its possibilities.
We have another expert who joined forum few days ago and he already knows how advertisement in forum works.  Roll Eyes
Don't forget to send official complain to youtube, google and all other platforms for promoting bunch of crap all the time that have nothing to do with content or videos you are watching.
Almost everything in bitcointalk forum is related with bitcoin, so it's only natural to see crypto companies promoting here, and some of them are doing it for years.
1512  Other / Meta / Re: A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation (SMF patch) on: July 25, 2023, 09:12:18 PM
I just sent theymos the third iteration of this patch. The biggest user-facing changes are:
Cool update.
I was just mentioning you and this 2FA patch few days ago in our local board, and from what I hear people are waiting to test how everything will work.
Can you tell us any release dare and are you accepting early beta testers?

In case anyone is curious about my kewl new badge: I discovered and suggested a fix for a security flaw in SMF while working on this version of the patch. Grin
If I remember correctly few months ago suggested that you should receive special developer badge in your profile, but this is even better Wink
1513  Other / Meta / Re: AI-generated post discussion thread: how to identify & report on: July 25, 2023, 09:06:38 PM
It makes me wonder - If OpenAI isn't good at detecting AI generated text, how reliable are other detectors?
They are not reliable enough, maybe because AI text generators are constantly changing and it's not easy to keep track with all changes and updates.
Using several sources in combination with common sense can give better results in detection, but even them don't expect to have high precision detection.
1514  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: July 25, 2023, 12:45:29 PM
A non-removable battery, and in addition a 2032 type battery that will fail sooner or later. I wouldn't recommend buying this wallet. For now I will use my Keystone pro.
No big reasons to upgrade anything if you already own Keystone wallet.
Advantage is that it's much harder to tamper with this new device and modify anything if you are a malicious actor, so it's not all black & white.
However, I would love to see Keystone 3 special separate wallet version with removable battery, and I don't think this would be a problem for Keystone team.
Right now I think OneKey Touch is the main competition for Keystone3, and OneKey is significantly smaller and lighter device that has the same size screen.
1515  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: July 25, 2023, 08:11:00 AM
First video review of the new Keystone 3 pro hardware wallet was released by MineYourBiz, and I recommend everyone to check it out.
It's interesting that you can see how this wallet works, but you will also see teardown and opening of device itself.
Note that this is not final product but it is very similar and internal components should be almost identical.

Source video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2igVmmRvdn0

The main difference I see here is much smaller battery that can't be removed/replaced without destroying the device, there is pros and cons with this, but I am personally not a fan of integrated batteries.
Size of Keystone3 is a bit smaller than in older Keystone wallets (103.9 x 62.44 x 12.08 mm vs 112 x 65 x 18 mm) and it has smoother edges, but size of the screen appears to be the same size.
Keystone will be adding USB and Bluetooth connection with PC in this model, and I think they are second hardware wallet after Cypherock X1 to add support for multiple seed phrases.
Overall it looks like interesting device but there are few things I don't like (integrated battery, bluetooth) and I will have to see the final price to say if this is worth or not.

1516  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: July 24, 2023, 08:55:00 PM
Could you tell me which site you used the card on? I bought a card yesterday and tried to make a purchase from AliExpress but that didn't work. I tried a couple of other services but the same, card keeps being declined.
Sorry, but you can't use them on AliExpress, PayPal or any similar websites, I think I wrote about that before  Tongue
If you want to buy something from AliExpress only way you can pay (other than using credit/debit cards) is with crypto on mirror website called AliBitress for slightly higher prices.
I think AliBitress owner is registered and still active on bitcointalk forum, so you can try talking with him for more details, because I don't vouch for anything Wink

TheBitcoinCompany cards can be used on googleplay or similar websites, but better read their FAQ page:

1517  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Payment processor hacked, more than $23M in crypto stolen on: July 24, 2023, 08:48:16 PM
Payment processor Alphapo was hacked for 23 million USD in BTC, ETH and XRP. Did anyone here use them because I can't remember I ever heard about them before.
Nobody even heard about them but I think people indirectly used them with gambling websites, so we could be hearing other casinos having problems, not just ones mentioned in this article.
Does anyone know if Alphapo has any connections with casinos that are active in bitcointalk forum?

Still, that shouldn't be a reason to keep all of it in a hot wallet. Every local supermarket here doesn't put large banknotes in the cash register, but instantly drops it into a safe. I'd expect payment processors to use the digital equivalent of this.
There is always a chance this was some type of inside job, and not even cold wallets could help in that case.
1518  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] [banned mixer] - Bitcoin Mixer | BTC Tumbler | Anonymous | NO LOGS | NO JS on: July 24, 2023, 08:19:48 PM
I see that you are a legendary member, I understand that post farming is something natural in you.
I don't think you are interested in mixing bitcoins, I think you are interested in farming post like the previous user. You are also trying to confuse the users and it seems very serious to me that you are trying to make them believe that it is a technical or privacy problem when in reality it is your personal matter.
I think we have a new ''expert'' here who knows everything about account farming and mixing bitcoin  Roll Eyes
That is probably the reason why he is a newbie account registered in forum few months ago and his only activity was in Mixing Services section.
Nobody in the right mind (except you) will defend and trust new mixer that showed up recently...but I understand that being an alt-account is something natural in you.

If you don't like something, don't use it, but don't tell others it's a problem just because you don't like it.
Let me give you some your own medicine.
If you don't like other people posts about this subject simple don't read them and don't comment on them  Cheesy

As long as it's stated clearly enough for any curious user to see, I personally think there's value in having some mixers that "clean" coins while having others that don't. It should be up to the user to choose — sure it's probably 100% best for privacy if the mixer is well known and doesn't "clean" coins, but there are certainly situations where the user 100% needs to not receive his own coins back.
Problem is that there is no universal standard for ''clean'' coins.
Your version of clean, might not be the same as my version of clean, and both of them might not be the same as government version of clean coins.
1519  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: PeachBitcoin.com | P2P Bitcoin Exchange #kycfree on: July 24, 2023, 07:58:11 PM
Let's just think logically together (why the Peach is very promising).
I was one of the first guys who wrote about PeachBitcoin in forum, so I deserve some share of future profits, right?  Just kidding, but I am open for business Grin
They have big growth potential because many people still didn't hear about Peach or they never used it, so there are no sell/buy offers available in many countries.
Biggest problem for me so far is the fact they still didn't switch to (more) open version of code, and they are not available anywhere outside Europe, as far as I know.
I would also like to see Peach web version, that can work as alternative for people who already signed up with smartphones.

1520  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: July 24, 2023, 07:46:15 PM
We do not stock any coin on purpose since we do not have any liquidity providers and all coins are stocked once our users sell them to us.
Hey there.
Do you have any plans of adding stable coins USDT/USDC on other networks that are not based on ethereum blockchain?
Many people probably switched to other alternative chains because of much lower lower transaction fees.
