1481  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Atomic DEX discussion on: July 31, 2023, 08:12:19 PM
Just a little update regarding AtomicDEX wallet, make sure to update to the latest version and don't be surprised to see they changed name to Komodo wallet.
As far as I can see everything stayed the same, except rebranded name/logo, and only the name was changed, they are getting back to roots and maybe trying to stop confusion with other hacked project with similar name - Atomic wallet.
Domain name is still the same but I think they will try to change this in future, along with other features they have in Komodo roadmap.

1482  Economy / Goods / Re: Want to sell my house in Greece for BTC or Eth on: July 31, 2023, 07:15:48 PM
Hey so i want to sell my house in Glyfada, Athens, Greece for 250,000 euro, btc, eth or usdt accepted if anyone is interested i would be happy to assist with getting a greek resident's visa since if you buy a house for 250k euros you are entitled to one, if anyone is interested just dm me. No scammers please there will be notarized contracts and a bunch of paperworks so no way for anyone to scam anyone. If you're interested in buying a house with crypto in Greece hit me up.
Interesting offer and I didn't know Greece is giving away residency for buying a 250k house, but is it even legal in Greece to purchase a house with Bitcoin or with other crypto?
One friend from Greece told me that you can't even buy anything for cash above 1000 euros (I think) because everyone is asking for digital confirmation of purchase, probably for tax purposes.
1483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Intel Management Engine on: July 31, 2023, 06:48:06 PM
Recently, I found a hard to swallow fact, or just a conspiracy (anyways, y'all can tell me better). I found some information concerning the Intel Management Engine (IME), basically a hardware device embedded to your mother board that allows backdoor attacks to be performed.
It's not a secret that both Intel and AMD have their own secret operating systems inside chips that are running all the time and collecting data.
Basic protection against this is to use your computer always offline without connecting to the internet, or by flashing the chip and installing open Source bios like Corebot.
Problem is that this is not available for most modern computers (some older Thinkpad laptops are supported), and you can only disable Intel ME.
Another solution is to use laptops like MNT Reform or Pinebook.

My biggest concern about this issue, is on generating BIP39 mnemonics.
I wouldn't worry about this if you only use offline laptop as airgapped device, but you can also use open source hardware wallets like Passport got generating seed words.
Some people don't like hardware wallets, but I think they are much better for this purpose because they have much smaller attack vector than most computers.

Is my reasoning right about this issue? Or am I just overreacting? If so, how would one person overcome the constraints imposed by this IME?
You are probably overreacting.
I don't like Intel ME and AMD PSP but it's hard to use most modern computers without them.
If you want to ''overcome'' them simply don't use computers, or use alternatives I wrote before.l
1484  Other / Off-topic / Re: please help, google authenticator app is missing on: July 31, 2023, 06:33:32 PM
Maybe someone has experienced the same fate as me, the Google Authenticator apk is missing! Maybe my friends know a way to be able to enter Google Authenticator without a key or is there another way to deactivate Google Authenticator so that when we want to enter a market account, we don't need the Google Authenticator key anymore? Hope someone knows about all this, thanks.
Missing from where? And what does it have to do with bitcoin??
Don't use g00gle authenticator app, just first export all your 2FA tokens or create backup, than install Aegis Authenticator app and import all tokens there.
Aegis Authenticator is great open source and it works much better than all other apps, but you can also KeePass app as temporary solution, because it can work on computers and smartphones.
1485  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: July 29, 2023, 08:56:53 PM
The website design has been updated ☠️☠️
Much better looking retro design for sinbad website, and I really like the new pixelated logo.
This probably means that we are going to see some changes soon in sinbad signature campaign  Smiley

Note that the service address has changed. Use the new address to verify the authenticity of letters of guarantee. The address is located in the footer of the site.
Why didn't you use some bitcoin vanity address with ''sinbad' letters?
1486  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [LIST] Open Source Hardware Wallets on: July 29, 2023, 08:32:29 PM
According to its license, CoolWallet seems to be source-available, not open source: https://github.com/CoolBitX-Technology/coolwallet-pro-se/blob/main/LICENSE
It seems that you are correct about this, it looks something similar like ColdCard license, but they only made changes few days ago so let's wait and see if they add proper Open Source license.
I asked CoolWallet for explanation and I will update list when I get official reply from them, but for now I am adding special note for CoolWallet Pro.
This is still better than closed source license, but it's not good to call something open source if it's not.
1487  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: July 29, 2023, 08:27:55 PM
Does biometrics require about $30, I don’t know, but it is not an essential feature to add to this price. I thought it would be possible with that price to remove the logo or different designs from the basic one.
Additional secure element and hardware for reading fingerprints costs money, and I think old Keystone Pro version had tampering detection unlike regular version, but I am not sure if this will be the case for Keystone3.

What is the benefit of this?
Silly question... so I won't respond to this since the answer is obvious.

That's actually very affordable. Nice to see. It may become a good budget option.
I compared prices for all other hardware wallets and I think this move from Keystone will force other hardware wallet manufactures to think about reducing prices, or giving special discounts.
There are few cheaper hardware wallets out there, but Trezor One will stop producing soon, cheaper OneKey devices are all based on Trezor One code, so we only have Jade wallet that is currently cheaper.

Then again, it's fairly cheap to replace and you should have proper backups anyway.
And it's compatible with other hardware wallets, but I don't think battery should last for years without problem, and it won't be as shitty as in ledger nono X.  Tongue

I've seen many lithium batteries that still work after 10 years, although they lost maybe 40% capacity. I've also seen lithium batteries break phones because they inflated. It's convenient to have a battery in a hardware wallet, but adds a risk factor.
You also need battery for laptops and many other devices Wink
I think heat and water are the main problems for lithium batteries, so keeping them away in cooler dry places is a good suggestion.
Tesla crap had huge problems when floods with water started to ignite batteries and create fires that can't be put down with more water.
1488  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: July 29, 2023, 08:06:39 PM
List is updated with few more wallets thanks to your suggestions.
Nunchuk wallet has full Taproot support for some time and it is getting more popular solution for multisig setup and non-KYC inheritance plans.
Bitmask is new wallet that can work as browser extension or web wallet, and it supports Bitcoin Network with Taproot,  Lightning Network, RGB, and other features.

I am considering all custodial wallets similar like centralized exchanges so I won't be adding them in this list any time soon.

Do your own research before using any wallet even if they are open source.
1489  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk's outdated and dysfunctional layout is so f***ing annoying on: July 29, 2023, 07:22:10 PM
Is it not possible to label my outgoing PM's, too?
If it's not possible, this is making "labels" completely useless as I would still have to search all the remaining messages.  Roll Eyes
I'm so tried of this sick, dysfunctional shit.  Lips sealed Lips sealed
Everything about Personal Messages in forum is bad, especially for people who are sending/receiving a lot of messages or for newbies.
Whenever I receive any message that needs longer conversation I usually ask if we can continue with email or other type of communication that can be faster and/or more private.
This is one more reason to have new forum software, but I guess we could temporary have another SMF patch to make things a bit more better than they are now.
1490  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: walletscrutiny: the majority of "wallets" are either custodial or closed source on: July 28, 2023, 08:22:25 PM
It seems to me like 'the sponsors' is just Spiral BTC, aka. Square? [1] The Bitkey / Square / Block [2] hardware wallet guys?
I hope this won't have any negative effects (bias) on WalletScrutiny.. Roll Eyes
Yeah this could be problematic, thanks for noticing this connection n0nce.
This probably means that Bitkey/Square/Block wallet will be reproducible and supported, but let's wait and see what happens after they release it.
I would like to hear what Walletscrutiny has to say about this, unless they changed ownership in this process.
1491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Does anyone use OBWallet (OBAndroid)? on: July 28, 2023, 08:14:41 PM
I never heard about ONWallet and after checking out their github page I wouldn't use it for anything more than for testing.
It's interesting they are working on DEX inside wallet, and they support other assets, but they don't have their own website and only three contributors are working on this project.
btw I think this is all based in China...
1492  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is it a wallet bug on: July 28, 2023, 08:07:12 PM
Can you recommend me a good mobile wallet?
Check out Unstoppable.money wallet, it is available for both Android and iOS devices.
This is open source wallet that is working very good for Bitcoin and few other coins, but if you want to have better security than I would connect your mobile wallet with another airgapped device.
For this purpose you can use hardware wallets (Passport, Keystone, Coldcard, etc) or any old smartphone or laptop that are offline.
Another interesting open source wallet is Airgap.it, this can also work with old smartphones as airgapped device.
1493  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: July 28, 2023, 07:26:42 PM
Thanks but there isn't much there about where can one use the card. There are mentions of Google Pay, but that doesn't seem to be working either. I have also tried G2A, Recharge.com, you name it, but the card has been declined everywhere.
I can 100% confirm that this card worked for people I personally know using g00gle play (I saw it with my own eyes), but I think this can all be related with IP addresses and locations/countries connected with this cards.
Maybe you should check out @thebitcoincompany telegram group and ask for help there, maybe even with direct PM to owner or moderators if you don't like posting anything in public chats.
1494  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Please who knows about localcoinswap on: July 28, 2023, 07:21:29 PM
Just as the tittle implies, please have anyone ever used localcoinswap?
Yes I heard about them and they are not a scam, but anyone asking you to join any telegram chat is most likely a scammer that has nothing to do with localcoinswap.
Best thing you could do is to contact localcoinswap support and ask them about this, maybe report this user if needed, they can help you much more than anyone from forum.
You don't have to use telegram notifications for localcoinswap if you don't want them.
1495  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: July 28, 2023, 07:07:37 PM
However, this will be added not earlier than Lightning, which we are currently working on.
That would be interesting to see, and I think there is something similar like stable coins that is based on Lightning Network and Bitcoin.
Maybe that would be a best alternative for fiat currencies that are not available on your exchange, and you they are not the same as stablecoins on shitcoin networks, since they are all backed by Bitcoins.
You can check out stablesats for more information on that, but I think stablesats are already available on Kollider Exchange with USD and EUR:
https://stablesats.com/
https://kollider.xyz/
1496  Other / Meta / Re: Are these flaws of SMF forum software? on: July 28, 2023, 06:47:33 PM
Could it be done with a SMF patch?
I don't get it why you would need a patch for this, but it's easy to disable all images in your web browser settings and read all forum in text-only mode.
There are even special browsers that work only in text mode, and they are used for people with slow internet connections.
Avatars is already easy to hide for everyone with settings you can find in bitcointalk account.
1497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: apps for bitcoin security? on: July 28, 2023, 06:39:06 PM
can anyone suggest apps to install to have better security? all i know is antivirus and browser adblock.
If you are using smartphone than I would try to use minimal amount of apps possible, and try to get phone that supports installing open source operating system like GrapheneOS or something similar.
For computers I would switch to LinuxOS that has much lower risk of getting malware infections, and you won't have to install any antivirus software.
Using secondary aigrapped devices is also good for improved security and this can be hardware wallets, diy devices, laptops or old smartphones.
1498  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Payment processor hacked, more than $23M in crypto stolen on: July 27, 2023, 04:41:58 PM
There is nothing wrong with that, hackers are a strategical weapon for governments and it's better to use these brains wisely rather than to rot them in prison.
There is nothing good in their hypocrisy and double standards, when it's allowed to do harm to others if they allow it.
It's silly to assume governments can't use those hackers to track and harm their own citizens, as well as other countries and regions, and they are obviously doing all of that.
I seriously doubt anything I read in news these days, because real journalist don't exist anymore, and when they say ''unknown hackers'' I always assume they work for government.

1499  Economy / Reputation / Re: 10 Years on: July 27, 2023, 03:20:15 PM
Happy 10 year anniversary EFS!
For many people (including me) finding about Bitcoin and registering in Bitcointalk forum was probably one of the best decision in their life.

I hope to be here longer. I think I'll stay here until Theymos decides to close the forum. I would like to see at least new forum software. Tongue
It would be nice to live long enough to see this change, if for nothing else than at least for better support for mobile devices.
Adding profile badges showing age or years since registering in forum would also be cool.
1500  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: walletscrutiny: the majority of "wallets" are either custodial or closed source on: July 27, 2023, 02:01:55 PM
I see there was a cool new re-design and new logo for WalletScrutiny website, they now have a dog like logo and new sponsors.
This looks much better than older version, it feels faster and it's easier to find what you are looking for, maybe because they hired a dog this time Wink

PS
If guys from WalletScrutiny are reading this, can you tell us when was the last time you checked CoolWallet Pro SE and other open source hardware wallets?
