1421  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] kycnot.me | Open-source list of non-kyc services on: August 12, 2023, 09:30:12 PM
Hello there pluja & kycnot.me.
Nice to see you finally registered and created account in Bitcointalk forum.
I have been using your website for months and I really liked old version, so I need some time for getting used to this new design.

Another decentralized exchange you can consider adding is Komodo wallet (old name/domain atomicdex.io).
I am not connected with this project in any way, just trying to spread information to people, and give them more non-kyc options.

Note that I think Kucoin exchange started to ask for mandatory KYC verification and I think you should consider removing it from your website.
1422  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 40 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: August 11, 2023, 09:57:33 PM
New addition to the website: Cypherock X1: https://thebitcoinhole.com/wallets/cypherock-x1
Nice one Wink

One more suggestion, can you add information if code for Open Source hardware wallets can be verified and reproduced or not?
If this has been done by someone, for example bitcoinbinary.org or walletscrutiny.com, you can post a clickable link for that.
Another member has a good point that not everything that has Open Source label is really Open Source... we all remember ColdCard and Keystone was doing similar advertisement for their devices.
1423  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: August 11, 2023, 09:51:50 PM
Keystone is not open source, and I have been considering writing a blog posts that dives into their claims.
I would be interested to read that blog post, and I know WalletScrutiny could not verify source code for older version but that was one year ago.
This is not the first time I saw companies from China doing modification on source codes like this.

What about their secure element firmware? Looks like that code can only be compiled with proprietary ARM software called Keil. https://github.com/KeystoneHQ/keystone-se-firmware
I don't think there is any open source secure elements yet, so that means that all hardware wallets have weak spot here.
Not that I am comparing this with Keystone example.

Additionally, there is no information as to who even makes their secure element. It's some kind of white labeled processor. https://github.com/KeystoneHQ/Keystone-developer-hub/blob/main/hardware/Keystone_V1.02_BOM.xls
This is for older device, I am not sure they released code for new devices yet.
They changed it now and they released in public name of all secure elements, one of them is the same chip like Passport is using.
ATECC608B + Maxim DS28S60 (+ Maxim MAX32520 that is used only for Keystone 3 Pro version)

Hopefully Keystone 3 will actually be open source, but I am growing tired of hardware wallet companies hiding behind false claims of open source. It really damages the definition and I consider it attack on the FOSS movement.
I agree with this.
When I asked Keystone CEO all this questions he refused to tell me more information, I think becasue they have signed some NDA crap.  Tongue

Yes. there are other differences. For example Keystone 3 doesn't support multiple private keys at the same time as the Pro version. Also not supporting upgrade using the USB cable.
Maybe this is not such a bad thing, since I don't consider Keystone 3 Pro to be true airgapped device anymore.

What the heck?!
Some people really don't have anything better to do in their life but to accuse and spy on other members forum activity  Roll Eyes
Anyway, I won't mention this paranoid and mentally unstable member but I have him on my ignore list for a long time, like other similar members.
1425  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: PST.NET IS A SCAM!! HOW I LOST $27,000 IN BTC. THREAD BELOW on: August 11, 2023, 09:06:39 PM
I keep getting an error message.
Reason for this error is because you didn't enter correct link of this thread and fill the empty field in flag form.
Link of this topic is used to help people find more information when they click on flag against pst.net profile, and it would redirect them here.
Are there any news and updates regarding your situation?
1426  Other / Meta / Re: Is Short Onion URL link possible and how? on: August 11, 2023, 08:58:31 PM
Who is this for? Yourself, or other people? If I use Tor, I wouldn't rely on a third party but just bookmark the link. Anything that makes Onion links easy to remember introduces an attack vector. It's not supposed to be remembered.
No, it's for sharing with other people like I said.
I am already bookmarking all websites I use all the time, this also protects me from potential phishing scam fake websites.

Just like Bitcoin address, i don't expect there are ways to make onion link become easy to remember without involving third party. QR code works fine on computer/laptop, but user need to take few extra steps depending on which application they use. The only remaining idea i have is showing image which has both QR code and onion link.
Problem with QR codes is they are not always compatible when generated with different programs.
I remember I tried to share one Bitcoin address from one app and it was not working because second app was not registering this custom QR code.

I haven't been keeping up with the Tor scene recently, so I'm not up to date on the latest developments. However, I'm curious about what happened to the "Onion Names" concept that was supposed to be integrated into all newer versions of Tor Browser, if I'm not mistaken. I remember reading about it some time ago, but I'm currently unable to find anything useful except for this article from SecureDrop: https://securedrop.org/news/introducing-onion-names-securedrop/
I never heard about this this, but they claim this is open source system, so I might do deeper investigation.

You might also consider getting creative and mapping ENS domains to .onion addresses: https://medium.com/@brantly.eth/ens-now-supports-tor-onion-address-resolution-9bb3bdff6217
Although I have a feeling that might be a bit too daring for your taste.  Wink
Good idea.
Is this based on ethereum network?
Maybe there is some alternative that works on bitcoin blockchain or on second layer solution for bitcoin,
1427  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: August 11, 2023, 08:49:44 PM
For everyone to test, as the default theme switch to dark.
Let's test for a week. I will be waiting for your feedbacks.
Everything works and looks perfect now.

As for that button, I'll think about how to adjust it to be more predictable.  Wink
Simple fix is to add different color for reset box, maybe orange to match the color of TalkImg logo.
You could also play with moving the button in diffeent positions, more on left side, or no top bar.
1428  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: August 10, 2023, 11:08:39 PM
All the links to the older domain were already removed or converted to a safe/unclickable format in case there was some historical relevance. The post referenced by you was kept while we were trying to get relisted at BestChange (https://www.bestchange.com/exch-exchanger.html) so the amount of posts containing the old domain was somehow important, however since BestChange has refused to relist our service even that we proved the relation between the old and new domains because they wanted to identify and KYC people behind eXch along with requiring nonsensical measures such as making a video conference with their "security team" via Skype and asking for our ID copies to be uploaded through some image uploaders full of JS bloatware, which was impossible to do due to our internal opsec protocols that help us to keep our identities private, we have dropped the idea to get relisted there, therefore those posts will now be removed.
There must be some good alternative for bestchange that doesn't ask from exchanges to conduct silly verification system, and I honestly don't know anyone who is using skype in 2023.

If I remember correctly I think I saw eXch exchange listed on trocador.app website before, but I don't see it there as much as before, and your exchange is still listed below with others as one of the partners.
Are you still working with them or with someone else?
1429  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: August 10, 2023, 10:33:39 PM
A question for the whole community: would you prefer a dark theme?
I would prefer main theme to be dark.
It's fine to login and use it like that, but I am not always logged in TalkImg, or I am using a different device.

Whenever the upload ends, the "Reset" button is available. Do you think it is not clear enough? Maybe rename that button. What do you think?
I see it now after you told me in upper right corner, but I never noticed it before.
Maybe move it to some better position, or change size and rename it to something better.
1430  Other / Meta / Re: A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation (SMF patch) on: August 10, 2023, 10:13:35 PM
The password reset screen used to look like this
It looks clean, and I hope to see this patch released later this year.
While you are doing this job, is there any chance for Security question to be removed in future, if theymos approves?
I think this can create more problems, and it's way more insecure than 2FA, especially when we know many people are still using one-for-all weak password  Tongue

1431  Other / Meta / Re: Is Short Onion URL link possible and how? on: August 10, 2023, 09:45:27 PM
If I understand correctly what you're getting at, you could use any URL shortener and it would work as long as the user has Tor browser or some other onion-capable browser.
Thanks, I will check out how Tinyurl works.
One potential Tor alternative I found while researching about this topic is i2p, because it supports short links, but question is how many people are using it and I never tried it.
There is no easy way for me to say someone to visit onion website I want, so I guess I could say visit clearnet version and than find onion links in footer.

any URL shortener service does the job. So you could either use one of those or self-host your own URL shortener service rather than use this dead project.
I will think about self-hosting them, if I dont come up with another idea how to share onion links that are easy to remember as text or something like that (QR code images could only work for phones).
If anyone have more ideas I am willing to listen.

1434  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: PST.NET IS A SCAM!! HOW I LOST $27,000 IN BTC. THREAD BELOW on: August 09, 2023, 10:45:17 PM
Your analysis is absolutely accurate since the funds indeed originated from Crypto.com, which left me utterly shocked when they attempted to justify the source as being linked to blackmail or illegal activities. These excuses are simply baseless and deceitful. I possess concrete evidence of my Bitcoin purchases, and I am prepared to make it public if I do not receive a refund from this group of individuals, which will irrefutably expose them as scammers.

To make matters worse, they resorted to paying Trustpilot and flagging my reviews to suppress the truth. It appears that they have a pattern of flagging reviews from individuals they have defrauded. Fortunately, BitcoinTalk is a renowned global forum with substantial SEO reach, allowing the whole world to discover the true nature of these individuals and their deceptive practices.
After seeing latest address/transaction investigation research posted by stompix I am not 100% sure they are scamming liars who stole your coins.
There is still time for them to return money and unlock your account in next few days, and I am still waiting to see real images from their team.

I hope everything works out in the end, but meanwhile please go ahead and create a flag (second or third option) against PST.net and I will support it:

1435  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Website crypto-hardware.com launched, suggestions wanted! on: August 09, 2023, 10:22:16 PM
It seems that the site is just a little slower, so it takes an unusually long time to load.
I didn't notice this, nor did I notice any newsletter subscription popup, maybe because my uBlock origin extensions killed them all quietly Wink

- Didn’t know about thebitcoinhole.com, will have a closer look. First impression is it is very nice, but maybe a bit more for the advanced crypto user (?)
Well yeah, I guess he started everything in bitcointalk forum, and we are all super-advanced crypto users here (not) Wink
I don't think thebitcoinhole.com website is hard to use for anyone, including for newbies.

Plus, deleted the pop-up. Agree it is annoying.
If you want people to sign up for something maybe you can add it in menu tab.
1436  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 39 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: August 09, 2023, 10:14:02 PM
Thanks for the correction.
I knew about athena-alpha.com. Which other similar website did you find?
No problem. Wink
I didnt want to advertise any other websites in your topic but since you already asked... I saw one project posted recently in Project Development section, it's called crypto-hardware.com.
It has a different layout from thebitcoinhole.com website and they need to add a lot more wallets in their database, but maybe you find some inspiration there.
Healthy competition can be good.
1437  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: August 09, 2023, 10:08:50 PM
I do not dispute the fact that the Ledger nano S has been discontinued, which is absolutely natural since they are replaced by the nano s plus model, but they still receive firmware updates.
So does Keystone previous version.
It is more likely that ledger will soon stop updating ledger S, because they announced it themselves.
But if you like using ledgers old closed source junk, go ahead and do it, your choice.

You also write about the low price of the Keystone, but I bought my Keystone Pro for $169 and pretty soon I'll have to throw it in the dustbin. I also want to remind you that they previously released one of the most expensive wallets in the world Cobo vault worth $479, which someone probably bought and already threw in the trash.
Keystone always had a lot of discounts and promotions.
I never said they are cheap or cheapest wallet in the world, but they are certainly airgapped open source devices with fair price.
1438  Other / Meta / Is Short Onion URL link possible and how? on: August 09, 2023, 10:03:17 PM
Does anyone know if it's possible to create short link for long Onion links and what would be the best way to do it?

I want to use this short link for one Bitcoin related services, but I want to keep g00gle related services away from this (if possible).

Post your recommendations below with short review if you used them.

Something like this could be useful in future if Bitcointalk forum ever creates onion domain.

I found one github link but this project was not updated for 7 years  Tongue
https://github.com/daknob/ShorTor

PS
Please don't spam or post anything if you are not familiar with onion and short links.
1439  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: August 09, 2023, 09:53:11 PM
Quick update, all Passport units shipping from two weeks ago (and ongoing) now use the Microchip 608b secure element.
Thanks for keeping us up to date with this change.
I updated this information in my table, but it should be noted that most people still use old ATECC608A version.

Research published in that paper claims that ATECC608B  can still be defeated with the laser beam. What would you say about this?
Oh no, it looks like we are going to see new version ATECC608C version coming out soon (this is just my speculation).
But seriously now, all secure elements have flaws and I think all other secure element chips are more closed and it's much harder to find security flaws in them because of signed NDA crap  Tongue
I never heard of anyone having success with exploiting even older ATECC608A chips in hardware wallets, but it's always better to upgrade if possible.
