741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: February 01, 2024, 08:43:31 AM
I recommend you to use a hardware wallet sincerely, it is the best investment you can make to secure your bitcoins, but you must take into account what use you are going to give to the bitcoin, you are going to send currently to other addreses? or just to store bitcoin? in my experience I recommend you to use as hot wallet, Exodus, user-friedly app (remember to save the seed phrase) and in the case of cold wallet, ledger or trezor could be your options but that is based on what you want ,the design, the budget etc... just hope you the best in this btc community brother and remember never ever let your coins rest in exchanges.
Whoa whoa, slow down with your recommendations, let OP breathe a little, as OP have said already, that they're new to bitcoin. I don't think OP needs to secure that fast when there are more cheaper options like a TrustWallet or a Blue Wallet for Android devices, he's already considering Electrum wallet so I don't think that it's necessary for OP to even consider hardware wallets especially those that have a close source. I'd say that OP should take his time and explore bitcoin and the forum to know more about the bitcoin landscape and see how OP will want to approach things in the future.

Welcome to the bitcoin market OP, enjoy your hodling journey and I do hope that you would find a lot of profits from doing that journey. My only advice to you is to learn DCA or Dollar Cost Averaging, pretty good strategy for long term bitcoin accumulation because you don't want to be not maximizing out your investing opportunities if you can help it.
742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your multi-bet (paroli) strategy? on: February 01, 2024, 07:23:39 AM
Is it Paroli or Parlay? I've been into gambling for a while now but this is my first reading about Paroli. I checked the definition and it's not the same as what you're saying. It's not anything like multi-bet but it's like the opposite of a martingale betting strategy. You double your bet your wager wins.
That's as risky as Martingale strategy, but you're still banking on Gambler's fallacy that you'd be able to win more because you believe that you've got a winning streak and that your chances of losing is close to zero, it's kind of like trying to get more ahead than what you should be but I don't know if it's effective as it is because you're basically pulling out more money out of your pocket to supplement the doubling of the bet from your win which will only get bigger as you continue winning but it will probably end the same way, with you losing more money than you should because you've tempted fate and you thought your win streak is unstoppable. I don't think there's even a strategy in this because it's already a strategy.
743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there Casinos that offer Birthday Bonuses to their users? on: February 01, 2024, 06:43:26 AM
Unless it's a physical casino, I wouldn't mind it but so far, I haven't seen any online casinos that are a giving that kind of bonus because birthdays are a personal info if I recall and I don't think that it's a really good idea that they know about that kind of information right? Maybe if they do KYC but I don't think that they'll ever care about that kind of bonuses anyway maybe you'd get some sort of bonus spin or gambling credit but that's not going to help you in increasing your chances of winning.
744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: February 01, 2024, 06:07:12 AM
Example is that gambling is banned in China, but some Chinese are gambling online in foreign countries and also in their country. VPN is used to block the IP used. You will see some gamblers that read the ToS of a gambling site and if VPN is allowed, they might gamble on the site from countries that gambling is not legal. That is just it. This can be common to gambling sites that are not well known and not regulated.
That's also how Chinese still makes money out of gambling by using Macau as a gambling hub for a lot of people. I think that even if the country of origin of the player is from a country that bans gambling, I think that they should still be allowed because they've got the VPN and in argument, they're technically or digitally in their own country gambling so they're technically and digitally allowed to gamble and that they shouldn't be punished at all, it's kind of weird that gambling industry doesn't care about this part when this could potential bring them millions of players from another country that have a strict laws against gambling, some people out there are itching to spend thousands of dollars gambling but they just can't do it because they live in a country that's not in favor of gambling, the online gambling industry is missing out by restricting players that have VPN from playing in their online casinos.
745  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers trickily claims they wins the bet while they never did. on: February 01, 2024, 05:26:36 AM
Just don't believe them if they claim something absurd, we're already on the digital age, I don't think that someone will be missing out on taking a picture or a footage of the winning play so if they claim that they've won this, just ask if they've got a proof or that they've won something or that they've bet on something, usually there's a ticket or a celebratory graphics with message if you've won, you can easily press the Print Screen on your keyboard or the screenshot on your phone for the proof so that's how it's going to be. It's weird to me that people do that kind of thing where they pretend about something just to have something to talk about like dude shut up if you don't have anything to say, it's more awkward once we know you're lying because we'll never believe anything that comes out of your mouth anymore.
746  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals!|ARGENTINA & AVFC on: February 01, 2024, 03:39:06 AM
No one would win because I doubt no one would be dumb enough to be lured in by this odd. It was actually live odds and it was few minutes before full time so the score was already 2-3 by that time. Newport literally need to score 2 more goals for them to win hence the bookies put in over 100x odds on that which is close to impossible so yeah why would someone even wanna waste their dollar on this type of bet
Oh they will, don't underestimate the need of fools to go for the big wins in gambling because they'll go to that length and if the odds are that attractive, they'll try it anyway I mean what can they lose besides the money right? I'm sure that there's nothing worthy they're going to lose besides that plus they're a gamblers so they'll risk it anyway. I guess you will keep on wondering if you've never met someone that can do this kind of thing when they're betting they don't mind doing it trust me.
747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: February 01, 2024, 03:10:28 AM
I guess, it’s better to stop them providing money for gambling. If they won’t have money to gamble, then how come they will gamble? In this manner, their addiction might decrease. Moreover you can also show them additional love and ask them to spend time with the family. Addiction won’t be gone in a single day, but if you keep him busy with other work, then definitely the addiction level will decrease and a day will come when the gambling addiction will be gone forever.
This is supposed to be the best type of intervention but the problem is that it's a bad idea to actually do it because cutting off their supply of money would lead them to desperate actions like kleptomania and at the same time make them commit crime just to get by with their addiction, for me, it's the total forcing of them to go to rehab or a forceful intervention that they can't find other way around besides complying with the intervention to get to the rehab, this is one of the times that tough love is actually a permissible thing to do to that person because they're not going to go anywhere if you just let their behavior because of their addiction towards you slide time and time again.
748  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin is the only crypto you should BUY on: January 31, 2024, 09:45:15 AM
Besides all that you've mentioned about other crypto being bad and always being abandoned by their developers, I believe that the biggest reason for why it's always bitcoin as your only investment is because there's trust in bitcoin already and while others are still establishing it, bitcoin's already got one and it's a solid one already plus it's always a guarantee that you'll make money in bitcoin if you hodl long enough.
749  Economy / Economics / Re: Is taking a loan/debt addicted ? on: January 31, 2024, 08:59:49 AM
Taking a loan might seem addictive due to the convenience, but many folks are in it just to break free from the loan cycle. It's tough to pay off loans without a bump in income, right? Working on the side can be a game-changer.
People who get loans don't and can't really afford to find other sources of income because they either have a limited skill or network so they have a hard time finding other means of making money. Sure it's a game changer as you'd like to say but each person have difficulties. Loan cycle is a depressing thing to be trapped in but remember that it's easy to get out of it if you make some sacrifices in your lifestyle but that gets harder if you've got a family to raise.
750  Economy / Economics / Re: Leadership and Economics on: January 31, 2024, 08:31:23 AM
Bad leaders are corrupt and make bad policies, this invariably affects the life and standard of living of their citizens and it also reduces the productivity of small and medium scale businesses.

Having said that, just having a good leader alone is not enough to make your life comfortable, of course good policies would improve the standard of living and give businesses the platform to thrive, but the business owners and the citizens themselves also have to harness the resources and opportunites given to them. The fact remains that it is difficult to get a good leader these days, they are mostly corrupt and surrounded by corrupt individuals who are also part of the decision making process.
I do agree it's not enough with not just a good leader but understand that if that's the case, it's going to be a big step because a good leader has control over the stuff that needs controlling and as much as we want to underestimate the capabilities it provides, a good leader is like about 80% of life improvement if it ever happens and that's why the people that benefits from the misery of the people and bad leaders are doing all they can to make sure that no good leader ever goes up and lead the people.
751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Gold, land which better? on: January 31, 2024, 08:04:30 AM
I love bitcoin but land is still a good investment than all the others in the choices, it's a piece of investment that you can build your house on it or create a rental property or something like that and at the same time it's a guaranteed growth even if there's a loom of a real estate bubble, there's no way that you'll lose on land. That's just me though that believes that, bitcoin's growth in 15 years is too big even for real estate so buy bitcoin and hodl but find ways to get more investments.
752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Beginner's Guide to the Bitcoin Halving Event on: January 31, 2024, 07:29:07 AM
The video is quite helpful for beginners. There is a little suggestion, try adding subtitles to your video, and try not to explain it with animation, you can display it like a professional
I think the animation is a nice touch, makes it appealing to more people including children and a lot of people are visual learners anyway so it's a good thing right? I do agree on the subtitles though and it can be a nice touch if OP gets more than just English for the subtitles.
753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the view of an average citizen About crypto currencies on: January 31, 2024, 06:57:49 AM
In my experience, they're curious enough to learn more about it especially the money making part but that's the part where I stop explaining stuff because I want them to know that it's not fun and games to learn about bitcoin and that if they get into it, they're going to be experiencing lots and lots of emotions. I also don't like talking too much about it so I introduce them the basics and tell them that it's not all good when you invest in bitcoin and that they need to do their own research if they want to go further because I don't want to be responsible for what they may come to be when they invest, so far no one's mad at me for introducing them to bitcoin.
754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 80 days until the 4th Ever #Bitcoin Halving on: January 31, 2024, 06:11:55 AM
This will be my third halving. I remember the second halving very well, I actually remeber where I was and checking the block explorer.

After the block passed it looked strange not seeing 25btc rewards anymore but 12.5btc instead. And then I remeber the 3rd halving having many parties around the world. It was I think during Covid so the turnout wasn’t as big but people will celebrated it like it was some big competition.

Wonder how crazy this upcoming halving will be.
Definitely more crazy and expect bitcoin to get more expensive because there's less reward for miners and it's going to be a problem for them to not be able to get some upkeep in their rigs if they don't try their best to keep their rigs at tip top shape. In my opinion, the craziness and fun factor of halving parties will only go up even more than the last time until the last bitcoin is mined, that last mined bitcoin is definitely going to be like that episode in Rick and Morty where they visit planets that have a one last debauchery party because their worlds are going to be destroyed.
755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To any Bitcoin holder who lost their seed: How did you lose it? on: January 31, 2024, 05:13:05 AM
Haven't personally lost any of my backups as well. But after being in the cryptocurrency space for 8+ years, the most common are:

  • Lost the seed because they wrote it down, then forgot where they stored it.
  • Got the backup leaked because they stored the backup on their email/txtfile/spreadsheet/chatlogs/etc and their device got hacked(hence the leak)
I've got mine typed on a Notes app in a phone that I rarely use, it's been my go to way of storing seed phrase and other important information that I need to store in case I need it, it's efficient but the problem is the obsoletion of the device which I haven't yet found a way to solve efficiently, I haven't changed the device for about 6 years already but I feel like the thing that I need to do is manual transfer.
756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Updates policy allowing bitcoin and crypto assets trust to be advertised. on: January 31, 2024, 04:11:58 AM
Google knows what they are doing when they openly allowed cryptocurrencies and related services to be advertised on their platform. Since the floodgates of ETFs were opened just a few weeks ago, they don't want to miss on the profits that these giants may give them through buying ad spaces on their search engine. It's a no brainer for them to allow these and scrap their old policy for money. As a giant advertising service, who wouldn't want to tap on that potential profits?  Grin
I like to think that they want to do that for a long time because they've been on the Internet for a long time and that they probably want to make more avenues of getting paid through advertisements and crypto not being allowed is a missed opportunity for them and now it's not anymore so they're probably going to make more money than ever before which is a nice thing to happen and it's a good thing for us bitcoiners because we're going to see more people getting into bitcoin.
757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is bitcoin linked to the main owner? on: January 30, 2024, 03:31:36 PM
People like that usually make mistakes along the way. The owner of Silk Road himself used an email with and his real name and surname online, which gave him away. This Jimmy guy reported some of his BTC being stolen, which raised suspicions about where he got that kind of money from. If you don't leave your own identification info, BTC can't be traced back to you. But usually, people aren't careful enough, they leave a bunch of digital footprints and then can be deanonymized.
Didn't this also lead to the arrest of the founder of Silk Road Ross Ulbricht or it's a different incident because if I remember correctly, he's got captured the same way too right or was it something about using a library computer? I believe that the reason that he's not careful is because he thought that he's gotten away with it and that he's already like an innocent so he didn't care too much when he called about the stolen bitcoins that was stolen from him too which is an twist of fate for him, getting arrested because of karma.
758  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was Bitcoin ETF really a good thing for growth of crypto and Bitcoin prices? on: January 30, 2024, 02:44:53 PM
With the lackluster effect that it gave to the market and the mixed feelings by a lot of people about the ETF approval, I just like to think about what's happened to be a thing where it attracts more people that don't know about bitcoin and would get curious about it, it only takes one of them to be curious about it and they're going to be telling things about bitcoin to their friends too and how it's a good investment, it's a chain reaction so even if ETF fails, the recognition that it gives is still a big deal for bitcoin.
759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would the bitcoin price behave during a monetary collapse? on: January 30, 2024, 02:57:56 AM
I think the same scenario would gonna happen just like the time when we were facing pandemic but the price of bitcoins rise up instead of crashing. In the midst of pandemic lots of hoax and bad stories they made to put Bitcoins in a bad state in the midst of pandemic but their effort was futile. and I think, with this kind of scenario, the price of bitcoins will not be affected and most likely instead a different positive result will happen.
But it's not a total collapse that happened to a lot of countries so I think that we haven't seen the full course of what's going to happen to bitcoin if a total monetary collapse, happens what I do think would happen though is that there's a possibility that bitcoin will be dragged with it but I don't think that's possible though, more like bitcoin will have more value in dollars if the dollar collapses and at the same time making other countries richer because the dollar will still probably retain it's exchange rate to some level.
760  Other / Meta / Re: Email used to create this forum? on: January 29, 2024, 09:08:04 AM
What exactly do you mean by that question? Email that was used to register the forum as a website? Because I don't think that's a public information even if you look at the last post of satoshi, you wouldn't see it. Most likely they've used an email that's prevalent in the tech circle at that time, maybe AOL or something.
