781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people think about Mcafee statement? on: November 05, 2017, 08:20:50 PM
This is certainly a bold statement, but at the bottom of my heart there is hope that this could happen. If people had told me a year ago that we would see Bitcoin scaling $7500, I would have only laughed at it. So, it is possible that such uber-bullish predictions do come true.
782  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-05] Saudi Arabia arrests Billionaire Prince - Could Uncertainty Boost B on: November 05, 2017, 08:09:40 PM
The Middle East has always been a problematic area for the world. Unfortunately, they control the oil reserves. Authoritarian governments (who fill the Middle East) definitely would not like Bitcoin, as it cannot be controlled by their military might. I expect a lot more dissidents in such regions to start using Bitcoin
783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 05, 2017, 08:05:11 PM
Chelsea got a well-deserved victory against Manchester United today, although the margin would have been slimmer than they preferred. Conte was really animated through out the match, and this victory clearly meant a lot to him. Now Chelsea are just a point behind Manchester United.
784  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's profit on: November 05, 2017, 07:59:11 PM
I would not talk about drug dealing nor weaponary because these are not considered legitimate businesses. So, for real estate and stock, I think bitcoin has surpass their profit on the life of a single individual. Bitcoin has shown that it has the capacity to be a money spinner other than stock which is very minimal in profiting an individual.

In percentage terms, no other asset class even comes close to Bitcoin. But most people would have just dipped their toes into Bitcoin. Leveraging yourself to buy a house is considered normal. Leveraging yourself to buy bitcoins will be considered crazy. So for most people, absolute profit will be higher from other asset classes.
785  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do not have the guts to buy bitcoins now. on: November 05, 2017, 07:54:27 PM
i am like you and i can't buy bitcoins now and since the price was 5000 usd . I think the price is really overpriced
We have not seen any downtrend for a while . I remember when prices were under 3000
Maybe it's a whale trap

Whale trap by a fiat whale? Usually it is the other way around. Whales try to dump coins and depress the price. Once individual investors get dejected and start selling coins, they step in to buy cheap coins. You are talking about price under $3000. It was not a long time ago that prices were under $1000.
786  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the world really needs virtual currencies on: November 04, 2017, 11:04:48 AM
I came across an article this morning that, to me, really shows why the world needs a virtual currency. I'm from England, and there's a saying here that goes: "When America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold." The article discusses the history of the Asian Financial Crisis, and how we may be heading toward something similar.

It amazes me that we have a currency that can potentially protect us (working people) from global financial crises. This is unique and incredible time in history!  Grin

It really is debatable whether bitcoin's price will increase or decrease during an economic crisis. If people have no confidence in their governments and central banks, they might buy bitcoins. But if people consider bitcoin as yet another asset class, they might shift back to holding fiat cash or gold. One reason for the increase in all asset prices is the easy money policy of various governments.
787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 04, 2017, 10:51:45 AM
Stoke City vs Leicester city will be an interesting match between two medium ranked teams. Leicester is currently 11th while Stoke is 14th in the league tables. Leicester are in good form now, having won their last few matches. But I think the 2 teams will be evenly matched and this will most probably result in 1-1 draw.
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 04, 2017, 10:46:45 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2355922.0;topicseen Byteball's first (poor) imitator! Things are looking good for byteball, all we need now is influx of trolls, after that MOON!

Ha ha... This is the first sign that Byteball is going to be massively successful. Imitation is the best form of flattery. You have alts of Byteball now.
The current price may not reflect it, but we are due for a big move upwards now.
789  Economy / Speculation / Re: CME and CBOE to List BTC Futures on: November 04, 2017, 10:41:03 AM
Good publicity, and bitcoin becoming a mainstream + enormous volatility those trades will add to the market.
Makes a one of hell mixture!

I'll bet that $40k for 1 bit it's a new bottom price from now.

I hope I can resist the temptation to cash out until that happens.  Grin
We definitely will have volatility, but that is going to be after a massive move upwards. When the first Bitcoin futures / ETF list, there is going to be a mad rush to get in. The price will have to reflect this.
790  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-02] Zimbabwean Exchange’s Monthly Bitcoin Volume Hits $1 Million on: November 02, 2017, 06:56:28 PM
The exchange there will be conducting transactions in the local currency. So the price paid for Bitcoins will be the local currency rate which is then converted to the USD value using some official exchange rate. I think the official exchange rate must be grossly off, which is giving rise to price of Bitcoin being over $12000
791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum coins - Too late? on: November 02, 2017, 06:51:30 PM
Actually, it's a great time to buy any altcoin as they're all on discount Cool

If you are taking about Bitcoin dominance increasing, I don't think it means alts are at a discount. It could very well be the case that alts were overvalued in the past. That golden age might never return.
792  Economy / Speculation / Re: is it possible bitcoin's price going to 10000$ at the end of 2017? on: November 02, 2017, 06:45:11 PM
bitcoin's price are rising rocket at present and do you guys think the price will be 10000$ ?

i am very confident with this . but i want to know other people's view

If somebody had asked this question at the starting of this year, I would have laughed at them. Or thought they were crazy. Now I feel that there is a distinct possibility that it might happen.
793  Economy / Economics / Re: What is Bitcoin's fair value? on: November 02, 2017, 06:28:22 AM
Even if we do force fit a model to value Bitcoin, it becomes kind of impossible to valuate the parameters associated with it. We have reduced the problem from evaluating the price of Bitcoin to evaluating the associated parameters, but we are no closer to the answer. Maybe we should sit back and just let the market decide.
794  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far do you guys think BTC retraces after fork? on: November 02, 2017, 06:24:26 AM
I say 5k

i'd say around $4800 or $4600 since I'm just connecting the dots on the last successful fork. After such steep correction (plus a bunch of negative news), price was able to rebound @ $5000 and the rest was history from there. Right now there might be a lot of people cashing out acter the fork, given that it will be a weekend. After that, $7000 is pretty much achievable.

If at all there is a fork, we should look at the combined prices of BTC legacy and BTC 2x. I also think that we may go below $5000 on the BTC legacy coin, but the other branch will retain some value. If the miners gang up against BTC legacy, we might go a lot lower.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi see the coming of Altcoin? on: October 31, 2017, 09:10:30 PM
Any info on this?

Did he (or his co-creator like theymos) foresaw the coming of other Cryptocurrencies?  Is there any where he use the name Altcoin or similar names? Just curious...

Given that the code is open source, I am sure that he foresaw that similar coins could be launched. Only when Bitcoin became wildly successful that launching altcoins actually make sense. At that point, Satoshi had stepped back from the Bitcoin scene.
796  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin can hit 7000$ before end of this year on: October 31, 2017, 09:08:35 PM
If the news of a possible launch of Bitcoin futures can drive up the price so high, think what will happen when bitcoin derivatives actually debut in the market. Now I feel that $7000 is possible in November.
797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: October 29, 2017, 10:19:04 PM
A good performance by Leicester CIty as expected, Everton's performance was well below enough, but I expected a goal from them, but score ended 2-0.
Anyway it was nice to bet on Leicester.

Nov 4, I will be keeping an eye on two matches, Stoke City vs. Leicester City and West Ham vs. Liverpool, probably Leicester would be the winner, on the other hand West Ham and Liverpool might end up with a draw. Still not decided to bet on either, but will be doing on either one of them. Let's see

Leicester got into the lead pretty quickly and were 2-0 at half time. They might have fancied another goal or two before the full time whistle, but Everton pretty much controlled the second half. A good start for Claude Puel, the new manager.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fees make me angry on: October 29, 2017, 11:06:51 AM
I am just thinking at present level if the fees seems so high then just think once it reaches 10k the fees would almost be double of what it is today. As the price of the coin keep increasing the fees would automatically be getting costlier and not cheaper. Will this bring down the users interested in btc due to its fees is what wee will need to watch out.

I suggest you use an online wallet, it is not possible to escape from the charges, but the oflline wallets are really cruel.

Using online wallets might help you save on fees, but you risk losing all your money if the service provider gets hacked. I think it is much better to pay the fees. If your transaction is not urgent, you can try paying lower fees and wait for it to get confirmed.
799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: October 29, 2017, 11:03:10 AM
Brighton's Heming penalty is not over for the past three games due to a penalty, Brighton is upbeat due to a 3-0 West Ham win last week. Things do not go well with Southampton. I do not expect more goals.

Brighton's squad will be boosted by the return of other players - Beram Kayal is back after recovering from a fractured leg. Baldock is back. However, not much separates the 2 teams. I would bet on a low scoring draw, probably 0-0 or 1-1.
800  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: Exposed? on: October 29, 2017, 10:38:25 AM
A documentary here in the Philippines entitled: FAILON NGAYON have exposed Bitcoin as a type of scam.
It goes like this: a callcenter agent guy invested on one of the sh*tcoins here. He invested a fair amount of money into it as a promise projection of 50% gain for about 3 months. After 3 months have passed and he was about to withdrawn the money, support system from that UK based comoany was suddenly became unresponsive.
Financial analyst said that bitcoin is being used by some scammers to phish for money from users through untrusted sites.
I think that due to anonymity, it is very hard to track down those people who uses bitcoin for scamming.
For me, I think you just invest amount ofnmeny that you can afford to lose. Secondly, just transact with secured sites and not fall for get rich quick schemes because most likely thisnis a scam.
What are your thoughts on this?

You invest in a scammy altcoin and say that Bitcoin has been exposed? That is pretty laughable, if you ask me. Next you might say that the internet (or telephone) is a scam, because the scamsters contacted the victim through a phone call / the internet.
