801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Mar 2024] Fees are lower, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: March 08, 2024, 03:55:45 PM
But as soon as the bear market comes, the fees will most likely get lower again. ...

In the bear market, ordinals will disappear, ...

Fees would probably be lower in a bear market if there wasn't this blockchain spamming. Unfortunately I'm not so confident that ordinals spam will disappear with a bear market. Blockchain spammers are likely to produce a lot of noise for nothing (translate it to overly filled mempools) to rip off gullible victims.

I got pessimistic as long as this massive blockchain spam isn't prevented by technical and/or protocol means. Some bubbles will burst over time, but spammers are creative as long as there's enough "loose" money to collect.

I do not think on chain fees under 10 sats will happen very much anymore.

This 2024 1/2 ing will be more like a 35-40% ing. not a 1/2 ing.

as there are unstoppable methods large farms can do to make their profits higher.

you can not stop a 30% pool from down clocking and slowing blocks to clog the mempool then once the mempool is clogged bump hash up to grab high fee blocks... We should see real evidence of this happening after this 1/2 ing

804  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application 🚩 on: March 08, 2024, 04:42:56 AM
I read a post from a long time member stating a possible conflict of interest but he did not provide a factual reason icopress should not me considered for merit source.
Yeah, and if it's the post I'm thinking of (which I responded to earlier), the argument was basically that merit sources shouldn't be managing sig campaigns.  Sure, there could potentially be problems with that dual role depending on who the person is but I haven't seen any evidence presented that icopress in particular would take advantage of his position as merit source in some way, and a hypothetical argument like that just doesn't hold any water as far as this application is concerned.

While we're all debating this crap, none of us know what's on Theymos's mind with respect to the merit system, how it's functioning nowadays, and whether new merit sources are needed.  I don't even know when the last merit source was added, but it was probably a long time ago--and if it was recent it was probably to replace one or more sources that dropped out.  It'd be so nice if Big Boss Man would descend from the mountaintop with his tablets and, if not drop some commandments on us, at least give the community a state-of-the-merit-system address.  Curious minds like mine would love to know what's happening.

Listen I have mentioned I like icopress and I gave him 50 merits which he can give out as he pleases. once a month is passed I WILL GIVE HIM 50 More merits, but the fact remains no signature person should be a merit source. I know some have said there are signature managers that are merit sources has it occurred to anyone when was the last signature manager appointed as a merit source  or better yet that no signature manager ever became a merit soure. That the dual people were merit sources and asked to be a signature manager.

Ie I am a merit source I want to be a signature manager does anyone want to hire me. Is this the way merit sources became signature managers.

or are there signature managers that added merit source later.

I know that there are supposed to be a few people with dual status .

but I do not know if they are all

source add signature manager.

or signature manager add source.

if none are signature manager add source then theymos is showing us something.

I will give icopress 50 merits once I can.

So basically you need to be at the s19 xp level with under 6 cent power. at current price.

Is this moment of rise in the price of bitcoin an opportunity for miners to invest in their own energy production, such as solar or wind energy?
Perhaps this could help reduce energy costs, and in turn make mining farms more profitable.

as mikeywith says making your own energy can be costly.

in the USA some states suck and some states are good.

I am in NJ pretty good for solar. Pennsylvania is very good.

You could do a 2 megawatt solar build  (max size for discounts) on the cheap, but the cheap is a lot if lucky 2 million mostly financed with many incentives. what does that generate per hour around 400kwatts

what is that in miners about 120 s19k pro units which is around two hundred k all in a 50k box

so 250k in miner setup.  and you need a site for the solar. in PA maybe 750k

so 3million to run 120 x 120 = 14400 th at five cent after ½ ing that is 720 a day or  250k income for 3 million in loans that is around 8% return plus your incentives. So it is just good enough in a very good state like pennsylvania or new jersey.

The site, do they still provide correct data? Sometimes I find their graph gives wrong information and then I had to bump the tx or find out I paid too much fees.

I have not found them to be wrong but shifts can happen in under 10 minutes.  3 quick blocks and you look likely over paid.

or 2 slow blocks and it looks like you underpaid.

Thinking about going tonight.

Anyone see it in Imax yet?

I've seen a few flicks in Imax that were actually worse in that format.

I have seen it on regular, but it might benefit from a larger, wide screen.

Change of plans going to check it in Imax tomorrow I'll let you know.

Sometimes I get vertigo from IMax.

The Imax at the Science Museum in London would probably do that to people I think.
For me Omnimax was way worse. Or Imax Dome, whatever they call it now.
Did that in San Diego and The Hague. Dome shaped cinemas.
Feels like you are going to fall down for some reason.

the liberty science center/museum in Jersey City, New Jeresy.

Had to turn away from screen a few times and look at both feet on the ground.

I think they had a camera on a hawk and it was making really good moves near a cliff face.

But, I ask, do you think this "restriction" should be lifted?
If you want any limit in storage and data consumption, you shouldn't lift it Wink

This. As any website could start to use it. Which means you could run into porn issues and or simply tons of images 10x or 100x. the volume could be overwhelming.

810  Economy / Speculation / Re: A whale took profits for the first time since 2010 sold 1000 Bitcoins on: March 07, 2024, 11:33:53 PM

But why now when the price could go further up to $120K?
He waited since 2010 and then did not take profit back in 2021 at the same price back then so why not wait til 2025 ATH this is probably the biggest that he could get and not just $70M.

The more I think of the reason why he took profit at the time when people were holding, I think know something will happen that we don't. It could be that there will be a massive sell off?

maybe he took 69k and a lot of coins in nov 2021

and now took 69k  a lot of coins in in mar 2024

and still has 8,000 coins left.

I liked the movie as a whole, especially cinematography and music, less so the late in the movie ideation that deviated from the books.
Don't want to go into details, but Villeneuve wanted to make a conflict where there was none in the book(s).

shh have not got to see it yet.

The fight is not at 69,420!
what did we get to when we topped 69k?

I really am hoping to see us go over 70707 sooner rather then later. I still feel my 2021 70k in may prediction has created a cap yet to break. I apologize for my naivety to think I could guarantee 70k in May. of 2021

I know buddy and the badger have been teaching me to never never never offer a guarantee.
813  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Lowest Bitcoin mining cost on: March 07, 2024, 08:48:20 PM
s21 about 90 kwatts a day

so
10 cents is 9.00
9 cent is 8.10
8 cents is 7.20
7 cents is $6.30
6 cents is $5.40
5 cents is $4.50
4 cents is $3.60
3 cents is $2.70
2 cents is $1.80
1 cents is $0.90

200 th x 5 cents is $10.00

right now 67k price nets 11 cents

after the ½ ing we will be near 5 or 5.5 cents

so the s21 is tight at 67k and 10 cent power after the ½ ing
as 10- 9 = 1 dollar

but if price was 44  it would earn around 6.60 a day
and you would need 6 cent power

as 6.60- 5.40 = 1.20

lastly

at 33k

it would earn 5 a day

you would need 4 cent power as
5-3.60= 1.40

I doubt the net work is all s21 say 17 watts a th

the network is likely 20-22 watts a th or even 28 watts a th.

which makes for a lot more calculations.

also people will shut down.

the question is how many 6 cent places with s19 pro at 30 watts are there? as they are dead at the ½ ing.
814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Mar 2024] Fees are lower, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: March 07, 2024, 03:29:36 PM
All in all, the last chance for cheap consolidations was in Oktober last year. Currently, it costs about 10 times more. The spam attack got less, but as shown above, people still waste massive amounts of money on wasting block space. Add the bull run and it's very hard to predict how fees will develop in the future.

Nobody can predict when will the fees get lower. This is a fact, as the price volatility is very high now.

But as soon as the bear market comes, the fees will most likely get lower again. And the bear market will come in the next months/year, we all should be prepared for it.

In the bear market, ordinals will disappear, exchanges will have lower volume (which means less people sending coins), etc...

I will save my consolidations for the bear market. I will make only transactions that I really need now.

why do you say the bear comes in 2024 or 2025

it should come in 2026

fees will suck for the next 18-20 months
815  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: March 07, 2024, 02:14:37 PM
I started using it recently, for other forums
You should not use Talkimg service for posting images on other forums, or they could be removed and deleted, this was stated by joker_josue.
Talkimag should be used only for uploading images on bitcointalk forum.

Well, I'm not going to delete/removed these images that are uploaded.
The issue is that the server is configured to only accept traffic coming from Bitcointalk. That doesn't mean it doesn't work on other forums. I just can't guarantee that they always work.

But, I ask, do you think this "restriction" should be lifted?

Do not rush to lift that restriction.

bitcointalk needs to be a priority until you know you are established.

shoot me a pm let me know how you are doing with income on this project. I can send some more coin if needed. I have a decent signature so sending you 1 of  every 5 weeks is possible

looking like a bull trap for miners coming up soon.

we are at 11 cents a th ½ ing drops it to 5.5 cents a th which puts a lot of miners in the red.

s19xp would be 140 x 5.5 cents  = $7.70 earned

and 80 kwatts at 6 cents = $4.80 burned

thus 7.70- 4.80 = $2.90 profit.

but a s19 at 100 th

would be

5.50 earned an 4.80 burned = 70 cents profit

So basically you need to be at the s19 xp level with under 6 cent power. at current price.
817  Economy / Speculation / Re: A whale took profits for the first time since 2010 sold 1000 Bitcoins on: March 07, 2024, 02:05:13 PM
As Bitcoin touched its all-time high of $69,000 on match 5th so many whales and old wallets take profits, as Cointelegraph captured today, allot has been going on regarding Bitcoin price and since the bull run is already here, so many old wallets will indeed take profits,  this is the advantages of Bitcoin long term approach,  because this whale, in particular, was said to have been holding since 2010.

What are your thoughts on the current Bitcoin price and how best can taking profits help in increasing your overall Bitcoin accumulation journey?

This is normal thing from those who wanted to taste their profit knowing that this Whale have been holding since 2010? damn that is a great opportunity for him to finally spend his long waited income.
those are the people in which We are cryptonians love seeing when people are making their way to the top.
that would be 6.9 million$? what a big money to withdraw.

1000 x 69000 = 69,000,000 = 69 million not 6.9 million

Maybe he has 1000 or even 10000 more coins
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Every time a new Bitcoin Block is found, US prints $69 million!!! on: March 07, 2024, 01:50:11 PM
This is what a no-cap currency looks like. Printed non-stop and out of control.
Kind of like dogecoin and all those other altcoins that have some rate of inflation, even if the rate decreases over time?  Yeah, I wonder how those are going to fare years from now.  Then again, there's no guarantees about bitcoin either (though at this point it seems like nothing can kill it).  Both the USD and bitcoin have value because people agree that they do, and if you look at it that way I'd say bitcoin is on shakier ground since it doesn't have a superpower government's guarantee that the face value of a bank note is worth what it says--and yeah, I'm ignoring the debt issue and constant money supply increase here, but hopefully my point is taken.

P.S. This also highlights the importance of dedollarisation for the rest of the world, by the way.
I'm always hearing about the US's debt and the devaluation of the dollar, but I'm curious how the US compares to other countries.  I don't think I've ever seen a data dump on any other country's debt or money printing before.  The latter might be a peculiar trait of the US economy and the Fed's idiocy, but every country has some amount of debt I believe.  Is the US at the head of the pack, so to speak?

scrypt algo of ltc and doge is superior to btc alone. as a pow set of coins.

doge has ever decreasing inflation rates.
it prints x coins a year

year 1 = 1x coins
year 2 = 2x coins 100% rate

year 10 = 10x coins
year 11 = 11x coins  10% rate

year 20 = 20x coins
year 21 = 21x coins 5% rate

combined with shrinking ltc (btc method)

it is the most balanced algo for pow and over the least 3 years the l7 miner has been a steady money earner.

scrypt is here to say. to me they looked at all of btcs flaws and designed a better system.

now btc has bigger money and will use people to attack scrypt because they fear scrypt.
.

much like banks fear btc.

if the usa adapted doges idea of a steady print amount cause ing a lower inflationary percent every year they could possibly get out. but they are simply going to declare brics and enemy and a terrorist currency. they will then use that as a reason to not honor bonds issued to bric countries.

not that I am a go usa guy but they are old white guys with money which means they are dangerous.

Sell=Losses.

Buy BTC and hold, We should forget about it for the next few years, if we want profits from now on.
