801  Other / Meta / Re: As A Bitcointalk Member on: October 23, 2023, 07:39:03 PM
I'd like to know because we do have members that have the title (if I should call it a title) PROMINENT dancing by their name, and I just wonder.
What have they done to own that title?
I'm not sure I've seen any member with that title, except you're trying to hint us that theymos is cooking up something in that regard.

Quote
Is it that they have contributed much on this Forum? What have they done or how can we tell what they have done?
Anyway, talking about prominence; I think there are a few members here who've shown cause to that effect by the way they've carried themselves and made relevant contributions in helping other users get it going. Some have proved their trustworthiness and dependability over the years. It takes a lot to get people online to trust you in an anonymous forum like this. If anyone is able to do that, then they can be called prominent. Again, there are those who've developed one software or the other to ensure that this forum runs smoothly. Some are old members while others are new who just got on board and went straight to work like the user who created the "OP" tag that appears on every topic starter.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 23, 2023, 06:38:44 PM
OP, both are good. Doing any of the two (or both) will depend on you and your level of exposure to it (them). However, if you're a greenhorn in this industry I suggest you just buy and hodl. Don't trade, except you've got any trading skills (I doubt, anyway, if you've).
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how fascinating this story is... on: October 23, 2023, 05:56:18 PM
Kevin's (toasty) story is a very lengthy one but in all I suspect he truly was into something. Though he denied/isolated himself at a point from the hacker and claimed he was merely into trading and only profited from a failed system. If he wasn't into something fishy, why did he write MT Gox? I believe his conscience pricked him to text MT Fox on that to appease himself. From the comments on that thread, we could even read some of the users throwing shades at him.

Well, overall, the story is really fascinating and really a good one too, I hope Kevin will have access to those 643 BTC that he was able to withdraw from it.
Toasty said he already transferred the Bitcoin to a private wallet. So, he had access to it; except he mismanaged it later or his wallet got hacked.
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone holds 1 bitcoin in 2023, can he call himself rich ? on: October 23, 2023, 03:55:18 PM
If someone holds 1 bitcoin in 2023, can he call himself rich ? If not, how many bitcoins holding is equal to being rich in your opinion ?
Being rich is relative. Again, we're yet to come to the end of 2023 to ascertain what amount per the price of Bitcoin you're looking at to guage who's rich or not. At the current price, Bitcoin is trading slightly above $30k. It wasn't so a few weeks ago. It can even go pass that a few weeks from now or relapse to the $20k region again. In my country, $30k is a substantial amount of money, and yes we can describe someone hodling one Bitcoin as rich in my country. This, of course, won't be the reality in other countries.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you prepare for a Bitcoin bull run? on: October 23, 2023, 01:07:41 PM
What do you think will be the new ATH, is $100k a very conservative estimate only? Or can it go  as high as $300kish....?
I think $300kish is excessively ambitious. I'm speculating anything slightly above $120k. Let's say $120k – $150k. Anything above that is a bonus but definitely I don't see it get to $300k. If that ever happens this coming bull rally, it will surely make the world go gaga and Bitcoin will expectedly have a troop of fresh admirers again like it did with the 2017 ATH.

Taking about getting ready for the next bull run, this has been said repeatedly. Those who aren't keeping Bitcoin/altcoins by the side will have themselves to blame when the rally begins properly.
806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you were to unlearn something about BTC…. on: October 23, 2023, 12:03:08 PM
Have you ever felt having a good knowledge about a certain subject matter on Bitcoin only to start a conversion or thread on the topic and end up discovering the information had lots of mistakes and misconception.
Those are expected newbie errors and I can't begrudge them. Most of them won't know how to get on the search engine, let alone know where to search. Nonetheless, I still see some of the old members who are guilty of this same error.

Quote
How did you really feel about those subject matters and what was your approach towards the observation and correction made by other users on your thread.
As a newbie, I felt nothing. Now, I would feel embarrassed if it happens because I'm expected to first search through keywords to find out if such a topic had already been talked about here.

Quote
I will like to discuss this how long do you spend doing research for a particular topic before making your post or do you have a glimpse of the subject matter get a good summary of it and then start a conversation or quality research is done followed by reviews before engaging in  a conversation?
The duration to this thing isn't cast in stone. There isn't any specific time to it. Sometimes I spend a few days munching on an issue; the thought of whatever it's, and to make up my mind whether to put it up here or just bury the thought. You know, it's not everything that should make headline. Some things are better left in private than headline them in a public forum.
807  Economy / Reputation / Re: "Bitcointalk" is part of my family living life & my "Baby birthday celebration" on: October 23, 2023, 06:29:55 AM
And finally we became dependent on Bitcointalk.
That would mean that your wife also has an account here, right? That's good as we need more active participation from the female clan. Happy celebration and birthday congratulations on your daughter's birthday.

Quote
Last few months me and my family are completely dependent on bitcointalk.org, currently my family's only source of income is bitcointalk.org...
This should scare you to completely rely on this forum for sustenance. Why not consider other online income generating engagements so you can have additional sources of income? Even if you or your wife aren't down with offline businesses, you can try trading or writing and editing on sites offering them. You can also diversify your trading into Forex trading and Stocks. Anything away from this forum that can make you earn should be considered.
808  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance New Update and it Transaction IDs. on: October 22, 2023, 07:34:20 PM
I think this doesn't require both details at all times, today I tried sending btc using the Binance pay ID I was surprised to see that they didn't request for the last two digital of the receiver pay ID. Just that is requesting it only for the first time and after which the next transfer they don't asked for any ID to proceed payment.
In that case, it could be that Binance uses the ID to bind the account as a safety mechanism for first timers if it never gets to ask for it any further. That won't be any stress if that's the way.

Quote
However you can change your Binance app to lite instead of using Pro version and it mostly confused user who are not yet that familiarized with the new environment just as they did post update on their official Twitter (x) page.
Oh, maybe that's why I haven't got that issue then as I use the lite version of its app. Again, I think I'm better off not updating my app. I hate stress.
809  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance New Update and it Transaction IDs. on: October 22, 2023, 06:03:29 PM
The next step is the main reason why this thread is created. When you click continue, it will ask you to provide the last two digits of the Payee (receiver) ID, so you have to go and check the last two digits of Pay ID and type it in the box and continue. That is all. Many users of Binance are not aware of this and that is why I bring it here.
My brain is already swerving in trying to memorize all that instructions. I haven't made any transaction using the Binance ID. I simply use the regular channel, the old school way. Why go through a hassle and risk making a mistake just because I want to save a few sats in commission? I'm indifferent following through that right now but thanks for bringing such to the public domain. Maybe when the wildfire catches on, I might reconsider my old school pattern and join the bandwagon.
810  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big." - Jim Cramer on: October 22, 2023, 04:56:25 PM
Just two days later bitcoin did the opposite and pumped like crazy.

Whenever Mr. Inverse Cramer opens his mouth about Mr. Bitcoin I know it is a great time to buy in big. Cheesy
Whatever he or anyone says about Bitcoin now should be taken with a pinch of salt. No one should be moved by any FUD that comes up because it can only be a strategy to dip the market by whales to buy back cheap. By the way, who the heck is Cramer?

It's possible Bitcoin holds a bullish stance for the rest of this year, I don't see anything changing that for now.
It should, of course. I don't see any other way for Bitcoin than to go north. The halving breeze should be in the air for the taking now and it's exciting investors, the market is also coming up lively once again. Nothing beats this feeling and expectation.
811  Other / Meta / Re: Why was the forum stats page disabled? on: October 22, 2023, 03:40:10 PM
This is what the forum stats page looked like.
You can see exactly how the page looked like here: http://archive.is/wxRDq
That's nostalgic, sincerely. That memory is coming back now to me. I'm reflecting on how that feature used to show areas one was posting in and what percentage of one's posts went into what section of the forum and all that. I'm sure campaign managers would've been using it were it still active now in their selection to sieve through applications in finding out were users are posting.

There was a massive DDOS in 2017 and things got a little better after Moving to Cloudflare.
Don't you think that's becoming often this day with BTT site going offline more rapidly?
812  Other / Meta / Re: Should Merit-Sources use feelings when giving out Merit? on: October 22, 2023, 01:14:03 PM
Hey! I was thinking of something this night, this thing about merits and the merit-sources. If you are a merit-source, should you always give away merit to good posts even if you dislike the user that created the post?
I've had a few instances where some members disagreed with my posts but still went ahead to merit them. I've also seen that happen with other members too. There are merit sources who are dispassionate about how they distribute their merit. To these dispassionate merit sources, they would rather consider the content and context of comments rather than the posters. So, don't sweat about that. Even if those you think you've issues with don't merit your posts, there will be others who will merit them. Just make constructive posts and leave whatever happens next to providence.
813  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Experience is key, go for it. on: October 21, 2023, 02:59:53 PM
No matter the amount of information you receive on this forum, if you don't practice and work on having a first-hand experience, you won't understand much.
I've heard people in various gatherings say that information isn't necessarily power until it's activated, and I believe that. Some have access to certain privileged information that can change their fortunes overnight but get laid-back executing such. They expectedly will remain on the same level as those who are also completely ignorant of that information.

Quote
Experience is key in everything we do and it plays a huge role in determining how successful we will become in that field.
Nothing beats experience. Those who've fallen victims to scam should've that experience and know how to beat them at their game next time. Sadly, that isn't the case as most times the victims repeatedly fall to the same scam but packaged in a different module.
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 7 ways to earn free cryptocurrency on: October 21, 2023, 10:38:47 AM

Yeah ambassador and bounty campaign are actually cool ways though but it has became obsolete because especially bounty campaign it doesn't pay a decent amount to the hunters...
I don't know how you or any other user, including me, view this thing concerning bounty hunters. The way I see them flock and flood the bounty section, stampeding one another to submit POA you would begin to think otherwise that it's profitable to partake of bounties. Perhaps, there's something they're doing they aren't telling us. As for me, the era I participated in bounties weren't smooth.

I think there are many ways to earn crypto. Apart from staking and Earn facilities on exchanges which actually require capital to do so, perhaps Fauchet freebitco.in or similar is an easy way to earn crypto.
Remove faucets as earning opportunities for they aren't. Gone were the days when faucet made people a hell of money. It's not so this day.
815  Other / Meta / Re: "You are searching too quickly" on: October 20, 2023, 07:25:00 AM
Some accounts, especially newbies, have restrictions, but I believe that your rank will enable you to search with out that error. I have now tried to click on the search button several times and have not encountered a problem.
Nope, I don't think it has anything to do with rank because I also experience it from time to time. However, reading what user Cantsay said; I guess that's the likely cause.

I think I will start making use of that now. I used to think it was mainly for archiving posts.

~snip~
The fact that he has invested in this company that now offers crypto-services is normal to a certain extent, since the cryptocurrency market is getting bigger and bigger and covers many areas of society.
WB is a shrewd businessman. That's the way I like to view him. He makes a decision and sees that decision as what can affect his finances, he quietly retreats without openly recounting. If WB were still holding his anti-Bitcoin view, he would've pulled out of NuBank. I don't begrudge him his decision. It's his money and his choice to make. One thing I've come to hold with close conviction is that no one should blindly follow another when it comes to cryptos. No one knows it all.

Quote
He also spent a long time without changing his cell phone...
That reminds me of a certain serving politician in my country, one of the worst of them all – corrupt to the teeth. The said politician claimed he never changed his phone for years but that doesn't make any difference as he's not in anyway better than those who change theirs on a regular.

817  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: October 19, 2023, 08:54:26 AM
But, unfortunately, we ask you to refrain from participating in political disputes while you are part of the BestChange signature campaign.
Thank you, Best_Change for that reminder. This is a second time we're getting that warning. Does it mean there are members of our campaign who still indulge in that? If there are, I think it will be better to alert them on this by also sending them caution note in pm. Maybe some do it unconsciously, who knows.
818  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the selling pressure in the ATH level can be a problem to reach $100k? on: October 17, 2023, 09:33:37 PM
There was a sudden dump in the price that plugged many investors. And many of them who bought around 69k price were still holding their Bitcoin today. Maybe they think that if Bitcoin reaches this price, it's time for them to sell. It is certain that there will be selling pressure when the price of Bitcoin reaches such a level.
Anyone who bought at the current ATH of $69k shouldn't be in a hurry to sell off once price hits their entry price. They should target anything above $100k. Definitely (and expectedly, anyway), the new ATH that should happen in 2025 won't be anything short of $100k. That price level is easily achievable.

The rectangular tool you used to mark out resistance area, is it hand drawn or it's an indicator that plots by itself? I like the way it gives the chart a fore knowledge of where price is headed.

When Bitcoin returns to $69k, I don't think there will be any selling pressure instead, it will confirm the expectations...
But of course, there will definitely be that pressure at that level. You've to know that those who are buying now at $26k – $28k+ will be on massive profit when Bitcoin hits $69k and they may not have the need to wait for $100k to take profit. Also, there are those who bought at ATH who won't hesitate to sell off once price gets to their entry point.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Discovered a new way to protect my Bitcoin on: October 17, 2023, 08:48:50 PM
I also have some "fly traps" placed randomly in the house, with baited bitcoin paper wallets.. to see if someone are searching for my stash. I regularly check those addresses to see if someone transferred those coins and if they are gone... then it triggers my first level of defense.  Wink

I am not storing my Bitcoin hoard at my house, because I know that will be the first place where I will be targeted, but the traps will tell me that someone are looking for it.  Grin Grin
All this paranoia with Bitcoin is what even makes it scary for some to buy as they're more likely to assume that they will become targets once they've some Bitcoin. Can we just tone this unnecessary anxiety down a bit? Shouldn't we begin to see Bitcoin as just an acquisition rather than that which we acquire to inflict us with avoidable tension? Even those who've less than 1 Bitcoin will pick up this line of thought and begin to imagine that someone is after them.
820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: next bitcoin? on: October 17, 2023, 08:26:14 PM
But as history tells us, bitcoin killer will emerge one day. I want to find out such coin, but I don't have enought knowledge and ability to do that..
Except you're a time traveller, I ain't sure such event has ever happened to the point that it's now historical. Perhaps what you're seeking is a strong competitor for Bitcoin. We could've such in decades to come as I believe nothing is impossible in this crypto space but it will take a long time to come. This current dispensation is madly in love with Bitcoin and it will be very difficult to shift such attention on Bitcoin. Even ETH with all its utilities still hasn't come close to Bitcoin. Just look for a cheap token with utility and invest in now for the bull run. Forget targeting what coin could kill Bitcoin.
