841  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 20, 2023, 03:26:26 PM
Base on that transaction that you posted, and the other guy on Github who's funds were swept in the same transaction, I can only assume that your seed was compromised.  Did you sign up for any give-away or stake in some air-drop, or something of the sort?  Did you divulge your seed to any entity that promised you a reward of some type?
842  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do I create a channel with a receiving capacity >0? on: March 20, 2023, 01:52:29 AM
I'm no LN expert, so I am trying to figure out how to use my Electrum wallet to receive LN payments for my background removal service in another thread.

The issue is, all of my channels are being created with "Receiving capacity: 0". I am frequently getting "path not found" errors whenever trying to pay some services using LN, which I guess is the most impactful when I try to use the submarine swap feature that's built-in to Electrum, which says it can increase the receiving capacity, but the transaction also fails with a "path not found error".

I'd hate to set up another wallet software just for LN so I want to figure out how to di this with what I have already.

It's been a while since I've used Electrum for LN, I set up headless server with LND, Loop, Boltz, and RTL as the front end.  Not sure if it's better honestly, requires a lot more maintenance obviously.  Nevertheless, I think nc50lc is on the right track; that error is indicative of Boltz server connection errors.

If you can't or don't want to do submarine swaps, I recommend swapping LN funds for on-chain funds using Robosats, it's P2P, no KYC, and easy to use.

That definitely looks like a scammer's transaction.  Multiple types of addresses indicates that the private keys with UTXOs were swept all at once, and with a fee of 50 sats/vByte.  Only a scammer would apply such an expensive fee, to make sure that no one can replace the transaction with a higher fee.

Do you remember where you downloaded the software from?

~

Interesting development regarding running Bisq on a headless server; one of the contributors just posted a guide to set up a headless Bisq instance on a remote server, and included instructions on how to access it from another device with a head-up display.  The process uses a third party, open-source (GNU) software, XPRA to connect to the headless instance.  I have not tried this, so I don't know how well it works, but it seems like a great rainy-day project.

The setup instructions can be found here:  https://github.com/apemithrandir/self-hosting-guide/blob/main/headless-bisq/GUIDE.md

That cheap bastard only sent my loot with a 1 sat per byte fee, I''l never get my lambo! Cheesy

I sent the five bucks I owe you with a bit more and it's already confirmed.  At least you can buy a gallon of gas in preparation.
847  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 07:14:01 PM
Moving to Tor-only after the fact is similar to moving a seed from a software wallet to 'cold storage'.

Excellent analogy.  I suspect you're right about the way they infiltrated Chipmixer's systems.  But as for the timing, it's interesting how these things regularly happen right after reports surface of their own shortcomings, failures, and downright abuses.  It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to distract us from something else...
848  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 07:03:20 PM
According the Department of Justice (yeah, that's what they actually call themselves missing the Orwellian irony,) he's been charged, but the press release makes no mention of an arrest.  I don't know if Vietnam has an extradition policy with the US or Germany, so it may be difficult for them to impose their injustice upon him.  Let's hope.

Coinciding with the ChipMixer takedown efforts, Minh Quốc Nguyễn, 49, of Hanoi, Vietnam, was charged today in Philadelphia with money laundering, operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and identity theft, connected to the operation of ChipMixer.

I am afraid now.

So are the FEDs!  Their own institutions are failing and dropping like flies.  Signature Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, First Republic Bank...  Calling these institutions banks is actually a joke; they are dispensaries of fraudulently printed fiat, who've focused on spending our wealth on woke ideologies with absolutely no recourse.  If the FED wants to minimize the damage they caused, they'll have to harass the people.  And the ones they'll harass first are the ones that figured out how to strip them of their power; us bitcoiners!
850  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 03:27:36 PM
bad news for signature participants!  Tongue

It's bad news for privacy proponents.  Jobs come and go, but reliable and trustworthy mixing services are few and far between.  Let's hope that Chipmixer didn't actually suffer any losses, and they'll be back with new servers in a more secure location.

Beware of a scam attempt by member Moto9999.

He asked Shasan for a bitcoin loan, indicating he has bitcoin to use as collateral, but in order to get the collateral he asked Shasan to create an account on some shady site.  This is an obvious scam attempt, the bitcoin is very likely just a fake number on a fake exchange that claims to have been in business since 2018, but the website was just created last month.

Loan Amount: 0.1btc
Loan Purpose: trade
Loan Repay Amount: 0.13btc

852  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 01:57:15 PM
Only press release I can find at the moment: https://www.europol.europa.eu/media-press/newsroom/news/one-of-darkwebs-largest-cryptocurrency-laundromats-washed-out

1900 BTC seized and 7TB of data. Chipmixer was supposed to not keep much data, and I really can't imagine they did. Hopefully (and probably??) not identifying data.

This is quite disturbing.  I would have assumed the servers were located somewhere beyond the reach of European and US authorities.  According to that article, 1,909.4 bitcoins were also seized along with the servers.  The way chipmixer was operated would suggest that the bitcoin and the data would be more secure than that, so I hope the article is wrong.

At least now, with some relative certainty, we can put to rest the accusation that Chipmixer was a NSA honeypot.  Grin

Another development, searching for "chipmixer" on google doesn't provide any of the previous scam sites in the results.
853  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 12:52:39 PM
Damn, actually not a troll. ChipMixer.com was seized.

The TOR website is still up and running, though.

A reminder that chipmixer.com (clearnet) wasn't operating as a mixer for some time. All it did was link people to the actual mixer which runs solely through Tor.

Yeah, the government gestapo won't be able to seize the TOR site, they would need access to the chipmixer server for that.  Obviously they wouldn't be able to do that.  With all the corruption and censorship being attempted by the FED these days, TOR will likely be our only option going forward.

@DireWolfM14. However if the 49ers trade and have Lamar in their team, would you say that he can increase the odds for San Francisco to win a superbowl?

Yes, but I say so only because he has more experience, and therefore I know more about him than our other two current options.  However, a healthy and improving Purdy would be my choice based on the admittedly small sample size.  The NFC Championship turned into an officiating shitshow right from the opening kickoff, and the kid got hurt, so I'm not holding that one against him.  But if Purdy can keep up the type of play we saw from him during his first three or four games, through 21 weeks, I think we would have a better chance with Purdy than Lamar.
856  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I have only backup file but lost password and seed, i lost my btc on: March 14, 2023, 10:00:07 PM
i open the backup with electrum wallet and show me the addreses and balance, but ask me for password when i want sned btc

That sounds weird to me.  As far as I know, if your wallet is encrypted with a password you won't be able to open it without the password.  If you are able to open the wallet without a password, then it's not encrypted, and you should be able to send without a password.  The only way you would be able to open a wallet without a password and not be able to send funds from that wallet is if an external signer is needed, such as a hardware wallet.  A watch-only wallet will not allow you to send, so it won't ask for a password either.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but again I don't know of a scenario that would lead to the issue you've described.

If you're an asshole or don't like someone you have the right to let them know.

Yeah, look at me for example.  I don't need DT to let it be known what downright prick I am.  I've been doing that for decades, a lot longer than I've a member here.  And, I've got the scars to prove it, some dating back to grade school.

All kidding aside, the harassments that some DT members impose on lower ranked accounts is something that really bugs me.  Lately, other DT members have been subject to subject to my assholery more than any other group.  I tend to agree with BitcoinGirl.Club about the subject of his OP, it definitely seems like this individual is focused on growing his influence.  The question is why?

The "why" could have many different answers, among them could be wanting the rank for earning potential, having a need for power, or simply wanting to feign trustworthiness to execute a long-con.  Regardless, there are certain members who's behavior suggests reaching DT is the goal, but using the authority in a responsible manner isn't.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: March 14, 2023, 06:25:51 PM
@ChiBitCTy. Aaron Rodgers will not go to the Las Vegas Raiders? I always speculated that Las Vegas would be his next team after the Raiders traded for Davante Adams. They might need that type of partnership to bring them to the post season.

Also, it appears Lamar trade to the 49ers speculation is growing. This does not imply that it will be an effortless negotiation, however.

Then you have Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the former NFL MVP, giving them the right to match any offer from an interested team.

Kawakami believes the 49ers are (or were) intrigued by the possibility. At the very least, they probably haven't dismissed the idea, and the writer doesn't believe they should.

"I checked around myself on Wednesday and was told that the 49ers are looking at everything, as always," Kawakami wrote.

He notes that the 49ers were not included in a list of organizations seemingly ruled out of a potential Jackson sweepstakes—teams like the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders, and Miami Dolphins.

Source https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/167559-kawakami-lamar-jackson-49ers-would-nfl-defensive-coordinators/

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of Lamar Jackson.  I don't think he has the depth of skill to handle Shanahan's system.  He can have two, maybe three reads tops and then he's off running.  QBs of Jackson's style (historically speaking) aren't durable enough to last a whole season, and the speed of one's legs don't often compensate for the lack of ability to read defenses and progressions.  I'm entitled to my opinion.

As for trading for a veteran; I wouldn't doubt if Shanahan feels Trey Lance burning a hole in his pocket.  If it were me I wouldn't go for Jackson or Rodgers at this point, I might still want to see what other options come about or simply wait to see if Lance fulfils his draft-day promises.

The Raiders signed Jimmy Garapollo earlier today, so they will definitely not be going after Aaron Rodgers now. The Jets still make too much sense for Rodgers. They’ve got a much better team than the Packers, so he’s improving his situation sizably in my opinion, not sure what the hold up is at this point. I still expect this deal to get done.

I can’t see Lamar going to the Niners. They’ve already got two QBs on the roster they’ve either invested a lot in or have seen a lot from..doesn’t make sense to me.

I figured that Jimmy G would end up in Vegas, it just makes sense for both him and McDaniels given their history together, and Garoppolo's experience within McDaniels' system.  Despite his fragility, I think that Garoppolo will be a significant upgrade over Derek Carr.

Full on fake, scammy, phishing site.

The whois lookup shows the domain was created three months ago, but their site claims they have 11 years of experience.  Obviously trying to trick people into thinking it's hosted by the real Electrum team.  It's not.  Electrum has no web app or web interface, and it's not a multi-coin wallet.  I suggest you fire that lawyer.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the app attempts to download the update files over TOR.  If that's the case, and your TOR connection isn't perfect I can see that happening.  In fact, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, and also surprised it's never happened to me.  I can't tell what OS you're using, but the manual install works well on Windows.
