Fakhar Zaman trying really hard to give some respectability to the Pakistan innings. So far he has scored around 60% of the runs in Pakistan total (51/4). Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory got the entire top order cleaned up within the first powerplay. As suspected, Pakistani batsmen seems to be suffering from lack preparations (can't blame the PCB, because it was difficult to organize warm-up matches due to the COVID situation). The 5th wicket partnership between Sohaib Maqsood and Fakhar Zaman has so far added 32 runs.

I had lost hope but hope came with Liton Das and Mahmudullah not to forget Taskin too. This is what experience look like I guess. Day two was incredible for the Bangladesh team and I think they will declare the innings tomorrow after Mahmudullah scores 150/200 or end of today's session. I feel Zimbabwe has already lost hope with this innings and the match too.

All out for 468. Mahmudullah unbeaten on 150. Blessing Muzarabani got his 4th wicket, but it was Richard Ngarava who broke the 9th wicket partnership between Mahmudullah and Taskin Ahmed. It was a great opportunity for Zimbabwe to get a test victory over one of the first division teams, but they wasted it. IMO, they need to find someone other than Brendan Taylor to captain the side. He is not regularly playing for Zimbabwe, and has no idea what his players are capable of. Anyway, let's see how they perform with the bat now.
883  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you define rich? on: July 07, 2021, 05:27:57 PM
For me, the definition of wealth is never having, for example you have 1000 BTC or 1 million USD is never enough for the greed of every human being including me. Although I have a lot of money, even though I have assets that I can't use for a lifetime, I never let that money rest, money makes money, that's why everyone wants to get richer, it's never enough.

It can be due to greed, and it can also be a result of ambition. Some people want to prove that they are successful in their life and wealth is always taken as a measurement of success. The more the wealth you have, the perception will be that you are successful. Such people may later give away most of their wealth in the form of charity. You can't brand a billionaire who donates a large part of his wealth to charity as "greedy". If he was greedy, then he would not be sharing a penny from his wealth to anyone. Such people are just ambitious.
884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 07, 2021, 05:16:08 PM
Tamim Iqbal should have been included in the squad as the opener. BCB has added two inexperienced openers to the squad who have not played very well in international matches so far. Moreover, Shakib has not been able to bat well for a long time. However, I am happy that Bangladesh did not lose all the wickets on the first day. I would be happy if they could play 15 overs tomorrow.

The selectors went for Shadman Islam and Saif Hassan as the openers. I don't know why Tamim was not selected. There was only one warmup match and he didn't got much of an opportunity to bat. But I heard that he performed well during the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (for Prime Bank). Perhaps the board wanted to give opportunity for some youngsters and may have made the decision thinking that Zimbabwe is going to be a relatively weak opponent. BTW, when was the last test victory for Zimbabwe against a full member? That was in 2018?
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 07, 2021, 02:40:50 PM
The game of cricket is now limited to New Zealand, England, India and Australia. There is no continuity in the performance of the rest of the teams. If the series between the big teams is not held, we will not see a more competitive series. Most matches are one-sided. If these teams perform well in one match, they lose badly in the next match.

I would say that the gap has increased between the big 3 teams (I would add New Zealand as well) and the rest. But that said, I haven't noticed any sharp reduction in the popularity of the sport in countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Cricket remains as the most popular sport in South Asia. If you are looking for reasons why the quality of cricket has gone down in these countries, then it has been a topic that was much debated previously. There are a combination of different factors - financial troubles, corruption, lack of quality domestic leagues.etc.
886  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will China's crackdown on Bitcoin cause Bitcoin to become worthless? on: July 07, 2021, 02:33:57 PM
^^ I have stated this manytimes. Not many of the Bitcoin users move half a million dollars worth of funds every now and then. This is a very stupid justification. 99% of the transactions involve amounts of less than $50. And when someone complains about the scalability, you can't escape criticism by claiming that you can move half a million or a million USD in minutes. Because ordinary users don't care. All they want to know is that whether Bitcoin can be used for their daily transactions or not. And if we develop the lightning network and make it more user friendly, then it may still be possible.
887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 07, 2021, 02:09:00 PM
140/6 is Bangladesh playing test cricket or ODI. This is pathetic batting from Bangladesh if I compare them with Zimbabwe. Looking at the score it seems Bangladesh underestimated Zimbabwe bowling except for the captain all of them have scored below 20. Only one single bowler from, Muzarabani took most of the wickets. As it is Day1, Bangladesh still have time to recover.

LOL.. check the scoreboard now. Liton Das and Mahmudullah rescued them from abyss. Bangladesh are at 261/6 and the 7th wicket partnership has so far added 129 runs. Zimbabwean bowlers such as Blessing Muzarabani and Victor Nyauchi, who looked lethal a few hours back are now looking very ordinary. And idiotic captaincy doesn't help much. Brendan Taylor is persisting with Milton Shumba despite his lack of success. Ideally he should have used Muzarabani a bit more (so far has has bowled only 14 overs).
888  Economy / Economics / Re: Vietnam Becomes Latest Country to Turn to Crypto on: July 07, 2021, 11:27:14 AM
Bravo to the government of Vietnam, because they now understand that blockchain is a disruptive technology. It is a good thing that this level of understanding and awareness is slowly evolving.

Have you even read the story in detail? The Vietnamese government is coming up with their own version of the CBDC shitcoin. They are not allowing any real cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum to be traded freely. Apart from the format, it is just a digital version of the national currency. For cryptocurrency users, this is more of a negative news. China also recently came up with their own version of the CBDC. And they started cracking down on the usage of real cryptocurrency immediately after that, in order to remove competition.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 07, 2021, 11:15:06 AM
@bryant.coleman you’re correct as Pakistan definitely has some match winners, and if they all fire then England may find them difficult to beat. However at the same time I wouldn’t underestimate England B team too, because this series gives the fringe player’s a chance to claim a spot in the playing 11 hence they may just be able to stun Pakistan, therefore we will have to closely observe how the match goes before wagering on it.

England's strength is with their reserves. Without any doubt, I would say that they have the best domestic cricket system in the world and this helps them with the player pool. None of the other domestic tournaments can match the quality of English county cricket. Australian domestic system comes a distant second. India has too many teams, which dilute the quality, and the quota system destroyed South African domestic cricket. And the New Zealand domestic system is alive mostly because of imports from South Africa.
890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 07, 2021, 04:45:26 AM
Yes, i just heard this news yesterday and you can say its both good and bad news for the Pakistan. Good in the sense that they will be playing with a relatively low strength team which makes their chances of winning bright but at the same time if Pakistan still lose the series, then people will more blame them as they are unable to win from B England team.

Pakistan is not in a very bad situation, at least when compared to Sri Lanka. So I expect them to put up a credible performance. Unlike the case with Sri Lanka, they still have a number of world class players, such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali. Anyway, the first ODI match is scheduled for tomorrow and this series is very important for Pakistan (because it is a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League). England is at the top currently, and they don't need to worry. Pakistan has 40 points from 6 matches till now, and another 10-20 points in this series would be good as far as they are concerned.
891  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will China's crackdown on Bitcoin cause Bitcoin to become worthless? on: July 07, 2021, 04:32:29 AM
To think that one nation could have a chance to make bitcoin worthless, and even a nation like China? Is a delusion. No nation banning it will make it worthless, we are a global community that makes bitcoin stay alive all together, just one piece gone doesn't mean that it will be all ruined. It could even be USA that bans crypto all together and we would still be alive.

I am not saying that the price doesn't go down, even with China news we did went low but that didn't change the fact that price is still higher than what it was last year, 3 times higher! So if there is a bull run and USA suddenly bans it then yeah the price will fall but it will not become worthless, it will become less valuable but it will still be used all around the world. Even just the third world nations of the world using it would give it some value and that is enough for me.

I am not sure whether a federal ban on cryptocurrency is even possible in the United States. As far as I know, it is the states that have the power to do that. And even if they do so, the measures will be challenged at the Supreme Court. Fortunately, the United States is not an authoritarian country such as China, and the national currency is still free from manipulation. But any attempt to ban cryptocurrency will have a crippling impact on the exchange rates and trade volumes. Because a lot of the other countries are also likely to follow the US.
892  Economy / Economics / Re: Jeff Bezos and many top amazon executives leave in mass exodus on: July 07, 2021, 04:19:12 AM
It's a cheeky move, but nothing more than an avenue for people to register their disapproval of his massive accumulation of wealth.  I don't necessarily have a problem with his wealth, except I think the tax system does need to be overhauled and wealth in the multi billions needs to be taxed.  I reckon a lot of the signers of that petition feel the same way.

Tax system needs a massive overhaul and there is no doubt about it. MacKenzie Scott received $60 billion worth of AMZN shares from Jeff Bezos as a part of the divorce package and not a penny of it was taxed. This loophole, which allows the transfer of shares from one individual to other without any tax liability needs to be overhauled. When someone transfers his shares to a different individual using the stock exchange, he is taxed for that. So I don't understand why direct transfers doesn't come under taxation. One thing is sure. These loopholes are mostly being used by the super-rich.
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are Airdrops and Bounties worth the work? on: July 06, 2021, 05:21:16 PM
It's true, I think an experience like yours is very common among people who invite their friends to join the Airdrop,
because the follower will definitely ask the person who invited him.

I have a similar story as well. I haven't participated in a great number of bounty campaigns which advertise new ICO projects. I participated in 2-3 campaigns in 2017-18, and back then the reward was good. Therefore I asked one of my friends to join these campaigns, as he was in very dire need of money. He might have participated in two-three dozen campaigns, but only one of them paid him (and that too was a very small amount, like $50). Fortunately for me, he just said that he was unlucky and refused to blame me. But I felt really embarrassed to have failed him.

Here we go lol.... Sanath Jayasuriya is banned for 7 years by ICC after he was found guilty, there was one investigating going on against him since 2019 when he tried to bribe the sport minister to influence in Srilankan A team selection.

Random Conspiracy (Not mine) : Jayasuriya paying the price because of his "Second String" comment.  Grin Grin

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/former-sri-lanka-cricket-performance-analyst-sanath-jayasundara-banned-for-corruption-1268679

Dude, it's Sanath Jayasundara, and not Sanath Jayasuriya. Even I got fooled the first time I saw the news. But then I noticed that in the description there is no reference as the former Sri Lankan captain. Mr. Jayasundara happens to be the former performance analyst for the Sri Lankan team. BTW, did Jayasuriya also made the second string comment? I thought it was just Arjuna Ranatunga. After the Sri Lankan team got thrashed in England, Jayasuriya came up with some scathig comments. But as far as I know, he hasn't spoken about the Indian team that was selected by the BCCI.

Sanath Jayasuriya mostly remains away from the media limelight. In the recent times, the only instance when he found some publicity was when he leaked the sex tape of his former girlfriend (Maleeka Sirisena).
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: July 06, 2021, 01:58:01 PM
Has anyone noticed this:

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/eng-vs-pak-2021-england-odi-squad-forced-to-self-isolate-after-positive-covid-19-tests-1268731

Three of the England players have tested positive for COVID 19. The players underwent testing after the 3rd ODI at Bristol (against Sri Lanka). Now I am having doubts regarding the future of the T20 World Cup as well. Will the ICC and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) be able to conduct the tournament without much issues? If such issues are surfacing in England (which has vaccinated more than 60% of the population), then there is a greater risk in the UAE which is a prime destination for tourists around the world. I just hope that they won't postpone the tournament yet again.
896  Economy / Economics / Re: “You don’t spend money now, you can’t spend after you died” on: July 06, 2021, 01:45:32 PM
One issue for cryptocurrency users is that, unlike the assets that are denominated in fiat, those in cryptocurrency are not automatically transferred to the nominees (i.e relatives) after the death of the user. If the private keys are unknown to the nominees, then the chance is that those coins will become inaccessible to everyone (unless the original owner uses a dead man's switch). While investing in stocks or mutual funds, you don't need to worry about this. Because in the bank account or stock broker account, you can specify the details of the nominee who should get the custody of the assets after your death.
897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $WHACKD - RIP John McAfee on: July 06, 2021, 01:27:16 PM
Based on the report its a suicide but who knows if there are foul play within the cell right? Its genius plan for escaping his crime but who would fake his own death. I believe Mcafee already died and he didnt do any faking there as the result of the court really affect him that he just want to end it all rather than being jail in the US forever.

Its also said that his wealth has been seize already and no crypto asset left anymore.

All sort of conspiracy theories are floating around since he died. But the chances that he faked his own death, or he was killed by someone is very minimal. Since he is a person of special interest, the American authorities would definitely conduct DNA test on the dead body. And it is not going to be difficult, as McAfee claims to have fathered at least 4 dozen children. And the chances that he was killed is minimal, since the Spanish authorities don't have any reason to do that, and also he was more valuable if he was alive (now it is almost impossible to access his crypto assets).
898  Economy / Economics / Re: George Soros and Bezos have paid almost zero taxes on: July 06, 2021, 01:15:09 PM
Not sure where these figures come from. Google search did not give me any result which would fit to these number. I would be interested too, to know how they can be broke down. Also, because the number is pretty low for the whole US for one year. Usually, such an amount in charity are made from single persons alone. And besides, the sum would be far too little for me, compared to what the super-rich save in taxes.

The loss for the US treasury is measured at around $20 billion. The figure quoted (~0.5 billion USD) represents a tiny fraction of that. But the devil lies in the details. We need to know how this $0.5 billion was spent. The US government would have used this money on food stamps or other welfare measures. If the BMGF claims that they used this amount to promote courses on gender studies and LGBT issues, it is not going to compensate what the local authorities lost. And that amount could have helped a lot of people within the states, during these tough times.
899  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: July 06, 2021, 01:03:24 PM
A person can get all the available pills and vaccine against Tuberculosis. But if he will spend a lot of time close to a person with Tuberculosis in closed area (like prison for example), for 99.9% he will be infected with it and shorten his life, if he wont change anything.

The case with Tuberculosis vaccine is unique. The only available vaccine against TB (Bacillus Calmette–Guérin vaccine or BCG) is effective only against disseminated forms of tuberculosis in children. It has zero efficacy against pulmonary tuberculosis, which affects the adults. And this is the reason why TB continues to kill millions of individuals around the world every year. If some of the pharma companies could invent an effective vaccine against pulmonary tuberculosis, then all these lives could be saved. Therefore it will be wrong to compare the TB vaccine with those against COVID 19.

As expected, most of the sportsbooks have given Italy a slightly higher chance of winning. From what I could see, Italy is at +130 to +160, while odds for Spain range from +200 to +220 (the same odds are given for draw after regulation time). One interesting thing to note at this point. Italy has so far conceded two goals in this tourmament. One of them was from a penalty kick which was converted in to goal by Belgian star Romelu Lukaku. The only other goal was scored by Saša Kalajdžić of Austria during extra-time.
