901  Other / Meta / Re: [HACK] One-click mod report, not for the faint of heart on: January 29, 2019, 11:02:46 AM
Works great! Not too hard to set up, just followed the instructions.

On a side-note, finally something that's being released for Firefox first.
Lately I'd been seriously considering moving to Chrome, just because custom 'extensions' like these seem to be developed for Chrome first and then get ported to FF as an afterthought.

Just reported my first post using this tool:

902  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GigMe.io - Bitcoin / Lightning Network based rewards system on: January 29, 2019, 10:28:58 AM
On the website, you mention that it's possible to run this on your own hardware.
Do you get that option when you buy a $50 lifetime license?

What are the requirements to run this on your own hardware?
903  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Expansion of the report feature to benefit both mods & reporters on: January 28, 2019, 09:59:01 PM
I have not problems with PC,  because chrome save it which was using mostly during Grin. But I feel problem with mobile. However your suggestion is good for reporter but it would be very bad for moderators. Just say, you want to report for move thread. Then you should mention which board is appropriate to move. If you want to report spam then you should write why you think this post is spam. Without proper references it would very difficult to moderate. I don't think theymos will implementat that option. It's better to write your opinion on comment box why you are reporting. If you write wrong then may be report will mark bad.

I don't think it would be bad for moderators, standardization should make it a bit easier actually.
Who knows what different people write in that 'enter comment' field, could sometimes be a real mess to untangle.

I actually mentioned that the report feature should present different preset options alongside the regular comment field.

I definitely stand by my assertion that this would be a good feature for both mods and reporters.
Just unsure about the cost/benefit of it. Don't know how difficult it as to implement such a feature...
904  Other / Meta / Suggestion: Expansion of the report feature to benefit both mods & reporters on: January 28, 2019, 03:21:13 PM
The report feature should really have some multiple preset options, in addition to the "enter comment:" field.
I've noticed that you often have to report content for the same reason.

For example, when I'm going through Bitcoin Discussion, I can usually find multiple threads for reporting where I just leave the same comment: 'Wrong board, move to Speculation board' (anything involving price speculation)

Wouldn't it be easier to have a couple of these options to choose from when you're reporting these posts?

Some examples:

  • Wrong board, move to $subforum (selectable in a dropdown list for example)
  • Plagiarism + Source field
  • Low quality thread/reply

These are just a couple of examples that popped in my head, I'm sure that there are a lot more possible preset options out there

I think that with these preset options, some people would be more inclined to report just because they can already see what kind of 'violations' there are.
It would take out some ambiguity of the whole reporting process and it also just makes it easier to report the same type of rule-breaking content.

Also, for moderators it might just become easier to go through reports, if the reports adhere to a little bit of standardization for the clear-cut cases.

Let me know what you think! Is it too much work for too little change? Or would this be something useful for people who are active reporters/moderators?

905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the 1st thing you'll do if you win Megah Moolah's jackpot? on: January 28, 2019, 02:35:55 PM
The first thing I would do is buy a house and maybe splurge a little bit on a nice vacation.
The absolute majority of that money, I would just invest in a fund where I can't touch it for a couple of years, maybe something that pays yearly dividends.

I would not like to change my lifestyle, but it's easy to say that now, I think it would actually change quite a bit.
Don't think I would give too much to friends and family, since then everybody just end up begging for money in the end.
906  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A meme project - Feedback on: January 28, 2019, 01:15:00 PM
@Cryptarks

Okay, that's a pretty interesting way to try and overcome any problems with quality.
I'm curious on how it will work out over the long term.

Btw, your own Steem Power on Steemit isn't in direct correlation with how much you earn overall
Okay, you may have more influence on how much you can vote for your own posts, but you still rely heaviest on other people's upvotes (Steem power).

Having 'friends in high places' is the single most important thing on Steemit, which also enables collusion (bad side-effect).
907  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A meme project - Feedback on: January 28, 2019, 12:24:22 PM
I can be convinced that execution is the problem too, but I've seen plenty of iterations of Steemit that eventually all went down the same path. And you can see so many other forums and platforms doing something similar, but they simply can't escape the fact that the system, once gameable, slips away. The cost of democratisation?

Yeah that's completely true, I've seen that happen with dMania on the Steem blockchain.
When users are able to earn money for just simply posting any sort of low-quality meme, that's basically what you get.

People don't put any effort in and they're happy with earning a couple of cents for posting and sort of crappy image they've found.

I'm not sure how you could overcome that :-/
908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please DON'T pay any taxes on your crypto! on: January 28, 2019, 12:06:03 PM
In some countries there are legal ways around paying taxes on your crypto, I'm not even speaking about some legal grey area.
Here in Belgium for example, you don't have to pay taxes if you hold your crypto for more than 1 year.

It's the same for profits made on certain kinds of long-term investments, like investing in the stock market for more than 1 year.

I honestly don't mind paying taxes on cryptocurrency profits, as long as they're fair.
909  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐Crypto-Games.net ⭐4 Years Old ⭐LARGEST wagering contest⭐New Game - Minesweeper on: January 28, 2019, 11:57:11 AM
How does this gaming site compare to other sites that take Monero? Are there any other major ones?

Without mentioning any specific competitors, I can say that Crypto-Games holds up very nicely compared to other Monero accepting sites that I know.

They've got a very low house-edge for dice, only 0.8%, which already puts Crypto-Games ahead of most other cryptocurrency gambling websites.
On top of that, you can instantly withdraw your winnings whenever you'd like, no need to wait hours or days before you get your coins in your wallet. (Also, you can choose network fees yourself)

Then add the fact that Crypto-Games is very trusted in the community and they respond extremely fast to any support requests.
910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which you prefer to Gambling, on betting DApp or Gambling in Dice site? on: January 28, 2019, 11:47:39 AM
Here is my question, is this normal sign or I am becoming to an addicted to gambling?

I don't think you've given enough information about your gambling behavior, for anyone to be able to tell if you're addicted or not.
Are you spending more money on gambling than you had originally intended to? Does gambling have a negative effect on your life?
Have you ever not wanted to gamble, but then still gambled anyway?

Without answering those questions, we can't really tell if you're addicted or not.

Then if you were in my shoe, which you preferred to focus to gamble in betting Dapp or in web gambling site?

I personally still prefer to gamble on a regular website instead of a dApp. Just because I prefer using Bitcoin for gambling, not some low-marketcap token.

Gambling on Dapp is safe when it comes to your fund storing?

That depends on the dApp. How secure is the underlying project on which the dApp is based?
How decure is the dApp itself? There are so many different dApps, it's impossible to give a general statement about dApp security.
911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin is Adopted what happen to ilerate population(stone age people) on: January 25, 2019, 04:42:20 PM
the same thing that happened to them when the world started turning into digital and everything including money started to have a digital form which is used more than the physical form (eg. electronic banking versus cash). they will be left behind and slowly catch up.

everyone that is not controlling the cryptocurrency index will be left behind... not just untechnological people

Why would they get left behind? People can still get everything done with cash, at least in my country.
You have old people who literally keep all of their money under their mattress, they can still pay for everything.

I think it's highly unlikely that Bitcoin will just take over everything, it will be used as a complementary payment method, not replace existing ones.
912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soulja Boy says BTC is done on: January 24, 2019, 07:23:57 PM
Hmmm, coming from the guy wo's selling a gaming console that's just a rebranded Chinese knock-off.
At 300% market value, just so you get the picture...

Yeah, he's just another washed up celebrity, he isn't even relevant any more.
913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I have plan to launch an online dice simulator couple of days later... on: January 24, 2019, 05:36:14 PM
Now that's a pretty unique idea, I'm wondering if anyone has ever offered such a service?
Don't forget to think about including a way to simulate dice games with different house-edges.

Otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of being able to practice strategies.
914  Economy / Economics / Re: What's it like to live on crypto instead of Banks? on: January 24, 2019, 05:21:18 PM
I actually have some experience with this. I've been living mostly of off crypto for 3 - 4 years now.
It's surprisingly easy, as long as you also have a Bitcoin debit card.

Look, having a Bitcoin debit card might kinda defeat the purpose of "living on cryptocurrency", but for me there's no way around it.
It allows me to keep my lifestyle just about the same as when I only use fiat exclusively.

I do try to pay for most of my purchases with Bitcoin directly, but to pay for everything with Bitcoin just isn't possible atm.

On another note, I do hope that I can eventually pay most of my bills with Bitcoin, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
915  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: DigiPiglets - Physical Crypto Piggy Bank on: January 24, 2019, 05:12:16 PM
How will you be able to ensure that you don't have access to those private keys?
I see that you're trying to reach people who aren't familiar with Bitcoin, but not having your customers be able to generate their own private keys in a secure way seems like a pretty big security concern.

Is it possible to also send Bitcoins into the paper wallet after the customer has received the pig?
How about printing a QR code and public key on the piggy bank itself?

I think it's a cool and unique project for sure, but I'm a little bit concerned at the security aspects of it.
916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Good Sportsbooks To Join? on: January 24, 2019, 04:56:42 PM
Can't believe you haven't mentioned Nitrogen sports (as others have already pointed out).
Now, I personally don't tend to do a lot of sports betting, but when I do I always go with Nitrogen Sports.

I just like their interface & they've been my go to sports-betting website for years.
They're also one of the only ones that support anonymous accounts, which is a big plus for me.

917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: poker and sport bet challenge. doubled bankroll in 2 days!!! on: January 24, 2019, 02:56:00 PM
That's a really nice ROI already on poker, I'm very curious to see if you can keep that up.
I agree that Pokerstars is probably one of the best website to play on, they easily have the nicest interface and you don't have to wait more than 5 minutes to join a game.

I hope you can also get some profit from sports betting though.
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 celebrities who back cryptocurrency and may own millions in bitcoin on: January 24, 2019, 02:37:11 PM
Dunno how I feel about Gwyneth Paltrow being in that list...
Having her name attached to something isn't exactly positive most of the time Tongue

On the other hand, some of the other names make up for it, I suppose.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What can you do to keep your digital assets safe? on: January 24, 2019, 02:25:17 PM
The article itself is pretty basic IMO, just lists common knowledge like installing a virus scanner etc.
Not all too interesting for most people...

The thing is that people who are most likely going to be affected by scams and malware, are exactly the type of people who don't read articles like these.

Those people would probably be served best by just using a hardware wallet for everything.
920  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Master Warlords - a Bitcoin Skill Based War Game on: January 24, 2019, 02:11:18 PM
I would move this topic to Project Development.
Seems like the game is still in early alpha, right?

I've watched part of the gameplay video that's on your website, but it's very hard to watch because of the text-to-speech you're using.
The website could do with a bit of an upgrade as well, reminds me of websites from the late 90's.

Do you have any sort of roadmap shared somewhere? I'd be interested in knowing what your future plans are with this game.
Is it even playable in its current state? The graphics are okay-ish, but those battlefields seem kind of dull and empty at the moment.
