941  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you know when you are in profit? USD or Satoshi? on: December 11, 2017, 05:05:52 PM
For me its always important to look at my initial investment versus my current investment value. As the initial investment was most of the time done via Bitcoin, as most markets for alts are BTC / alt, it makes no sense to look at the dollar value there. Some people disagree, but thats how I judge my investments. With the current rally of Bitcoin my overall profits have nearly vanished from this perspective (clearly had too much alts), but USD wise Im still in good profit, but as I dont plan to cash out to fiat anytime soon, I just measure it in BTC and therefore Im way in a loss compared to have just held on my BTC that I initially had.
942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The next x10 coins for 2018 on: December 11, 2017, 04:56:54 PM
I would not be surprised if we see NEO make another x10 in 2018. But from the list of your coins I definitely think that ARDR will be one that makes even more than x10 in 2018, as it will be one of the best blockchain solutions that are implemented yet, I expect it to go higher than $5 eventually in 2018. Of course only if mainnet is released and everything working as planned by the devs. Excited for ARDR, lets see what happens!
943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero, Zcash and Dash they all claims to be safe, secured and untraceable? on: December 11, 2017, 04:52:54 PM
I copied this for you from another thread, it highlights the differences between the different anon coins, although it doesnt take Zcash into account, but maybe it helps you nonetheless.
- Anonymization: XMR (and XSPEC) use(s) ring signatures. PIVX, like DASH, uses CoinJoin. As of about a month ago, PIVX uses Zerocoin protocol in addition to the privacy features it shares with DASH. The Zerocoin implementation will continue to evolve; for example, deterministic zPiv generation will be rolled out soon.
- Block time: PIVX is among the fastest. 60s for PIVX, vs. also 60s for XSPEC, vs. 120s for XMR, vs. 150s+ for DASH. Both DASH and PIVX also use InstantSend.
- Algorithm: XMR = PoW (CryptoNight); DASH = masternodes + PoW (x11); XSPEC = full-time PoS only; PIVX = full-time PoS + masternodes. (*see note below re: PoS)
- Governance: DASH and PIVX both have masternode voting, whereas XMR and XSPEC do not. Uniquely, PIVX incorporates a 'see-saw' mechanism to balance the value of staking vs. running a masternode: The more MNs are in operation, the lower the reward and the greater the benefits of staking, and vice versa. New voting/governance proposals are currently under evaluation, with the goal of further democratization (i.e., voting shouldn't be exclusively in the hands of masternode holders).
- Supply: Currently, just under 8 million DASH, ~15.5 million XMR, ~21 million XSPEC, and 55 million PIVX. All are theoretically inflationary, but various factors will keep their supplies from increasing to infinity. For example, transaction fees on the PIVX network are burned, meaning that PIVX actually has the potential to become deflationary.
- Other features of PIVX: In-wallet multi-signature escrow; Android and (soon) iOS wallets; plans for a decentralized exchange (zDEX); support of 30 (and counting) languages; active community (not so much on BCT but on Slack/forum); reliable devs; no past controversies ala DASH's 'instamine'.

Basically, XMR goes for privacy at the expense of convenience as a currency (ring sigs are computationally intense). DASH, like Bitcoin, was the first of its kind and has brand recognition and market share despite not necessarily being the most advanced technology, and again at the expense of some convenience as a currency (slow block times). PIVX strives to build on DASH, improve on it, and incorporate stronger anonymity features (Zerocoin protocol), while ALSO maintaining convenience as an actual currency (fast block times, low tx fees, etc.). XSPEC is earlier in its development cycle, but is more or less trying to be to Monero what PIVX is to DASH.
944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Wings Price Speculation on: December 11, 2017, 04:49:03 PM
Wings project is great and has a good community that contributes to the wings platform and participates on the predictions. I bought in Wings earlier this year and have an overall loss compared to the btc I paid. USD wise Im still in profit, but thats not what counts overall. Nevertheless I believe in Wings and can see it reaching above one dollar easily anytime soon. Imho its traded at a bargain price now. Im excited to see where we are going in 2018!
945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Phore - Masternodes - Marketplace on: December 11, 2017, 04:43:43 PM
Totally agree that Phore has huge potential and will likely surge a lot more in the coming months. Can anybody tell me, is Phore a fork from PivX or why is it always compared to it?
946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Phore has a massive burn incoming ! on: December 11, 2017, 04:42:23 PM
I bought Phore as well some time back, I think this project has a huge potential and I want to see it in top 50 in 2018. I guess this is possible with all the great features that will be implemented soon. People will jump in and make this coin huge! Kudos to the dev team for all the hard work!
947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: STRAT IS A SLEEPING GIANT ! on: December 11, 2017, 04:38:11 PM
Strat is a good project, but they need to deliver. As long as its just theory the price is nothing but speculation. There are many projects which compete with stratis and some of them already have a lot to show. To be honest I dont think that 2018 will be the year of strat. The competition is already too far ahead in my opinion and it will be likely more their year than strats. But we will see, its just my personal opinion.
948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: my 38 Eth been stolen, any way to get it back...? on: December 11, 2017, 04:33:39 PM
And this is why Crypto will never replace money. Sorry OP this sucks.  Embarrassed

Kind of agree. Thats what I am sometimes arguing about with hardcore crypto enthusiasts. I know that a distributed ledger is irreversible, but as long as there arent mechanisms built in to solve this and charge back your transaction if you type in the wrong address, or get your money stolen, there is no way that crypto will be adopted by the mainstream. Its just too much risk involved if you can loose all your money from one second to another if you just type one wrong letter.
949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: CND HITS BINANCE!!!!!!! yeahhhhhhh up 60% on: December 11, 2017, 02:49:27 PM
by the way.. imho Binance is my favourite exchange! i am really upset of bittrex.. and its stupid policy delisting coins like BTS or SAFEX..
with BTS it was clear they didnt want to hold the coin of the concurrence...

Binance is the best exchange these days. I use it since its launch and totally abandonned Bittrex in favor of Binance. But the delisting of coins / tokens can also happen on Binance. Its due to the uncertain regulatory framework of security coins/ tokens and equity coins / tokens. If they are not certain where to put a coin, its better to delist it for the time being until the regulatory framework is in place. Its like a step of caution to avoid potential lawsuits, I guess we will also see this on binance unfortunately.
950  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Business with and without education ? on: December 11, 2017, 02:31:34 PM
In order to answer your question you need to look at the individual person. I dont think that we can generalize this.
There are many people that are successful business owners although they dont have much education. I think success can be achieved with persistence, hard work and discipline. The most important is persistence, as there will often be things that wont work out as planned, but you have to keep pursuing your goal nevertheless.
Many people without the university education have a lot more "hunger" to achieve success to show their relatives and friends that they have made it without education. But this cant be generalized, many dont have this "hunger" and will never be successful too. Many educated people got this "hunger" as well.
951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [RPX] Red Pulse Token – Next Generation Intelligence and Content Ecosystem on: December 11, 2017, 02:26:17 PM
Great to see that the Red Pulse team is so active on the thread. Keep it up, this is what makes a project great! I strongly believe in Red Pulse, and am very confident in the team. All the best for the coming months and years, I wish success. Long term holder here!
952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Substratum ICO - August 7-September 7 (Pre-Sale with Bonuses Available Now) on: December 11, 2017, 02:13:57 PM
I dont get why I read so much bashing on Shift here and people that try to bash Sub. I think the blockchain space is still in its infancy and there will be a lot more room to grow. Meaning that there is enough space for several projects that are working in the same sector. Sure there will be competition, but there is still enough space for several winners that can coexist. Stop the hate and support blockchain growth in general, rather fight against centralized solutions than competitor projects in our space.
953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ęternity blockchain ∞ AE TOKEN ∞ [PoW & PoS | Oracles | Smart Contracts] on: December 11, 2017, 02:09:58 PM
Everyone,

You can now vote for your favorite ępp, submitted during ęternity's ępps hackathon!

Voting will last until 13 December 2017 18:00 CET

Any user who holds AE tokens can up or down-vote an ępp submission by signing with the ETH account where they hold their (or some) AE tokens. You can use MyEtherWallet or Metamask for signing. The voting weight is equal to the user’s share of all distributed AE tokens.

HAVE A LOOK AT THE ĘPPS AND VOTE

You can also learn more about the ępps hackathon at the blog.

Kind Regards,
The AE Team

Great, this is a nice start to involve the community, like to make this happen and care about the thoughts of your investors. I will definitely vote later on. Already got my favourite Daepp. Can we see somewhere how many AE coins have been voted with already?
954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES | Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform | unofficial supporters topic on: December 11, 2017, 02:06:07 PM
Congratulations to all waves holders! Finally we broke the $10 mark. I knew that this would happen sooner or later, didnt expect it this year still, but its great that this milestone was achieved. Im very excited for Waves development in 2018. There are many great things to come that will accerate its growth and bring more people to the network. I strongly believe in Waves, its one of the most developed blockchain network as of today!
955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Atom - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Atomic Swap Powered on: December 11, 2017, 02:03:04 PM
Sounds like this fork has a purpose at least. I love the idea of atomic swaps, this is truly the way we should exchange our coins. I hate centralized exchanges and also the decentralized solutions that are availible for now are not really satisfying, so I really believe that atomic swaps will be the future of exchanging crypto. I will stay tuned and monitor this project. Lets see if we have a fork here that will achieve something new.
956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Wanchain - Connecting blockchains to exchange value on: December 11, 2017, 01:59:56 PM
Wanchain will be huge! I love the idea of this project, this will be needed heavily soon. I recently read about the interoperabillity alliance with AION. I think this is a wise decision, there is space for more than one player in this field. Looking forward to the development and the success of your project as well as to the success of the whole alliance!
957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK on BINANCE 🔹 on: December 11, 2017, 01:45:00 PM
I think that ARK has a lot of potential. What I love most is the smart bridge feature. This will bridge ARK blockchain with other existing blockchains, did I get that correctly? So we would be able to do transactions from ARK to ETH for example, while still staying on the ARK chain to conduct our business right?
958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ⭐️⚡️LiveEdu: ⭐️⚡️ Decentralized peer-to-peer project learning network on: December 11, 2017, 01:20:31 PM
Voting power is tied to number education tokens you own. Each education token has one voting right

Alright, so whales will have much more voting power than the normal users, although those will be the ones that view the content that is produced. I see that this is kind of an conflict of interests here and hard to solve. Im excited how the votings will be conducted in reality when LiveEdu will be at this stage of development!
959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: You maybe should reconsider taking a look at DeepOnion on: December 11, 2017, 12:48:14 PM
I actually dont think that deeponion is a scam, but I didnt show interest in it when it launched. Now its too late to participate I guess. But I heard something that they plan to make an airdrop again?
960  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the biggest changes in your life caused by Bitcoin? on: December 11, 2017, 12:27:58 PM
For me the biggest change that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies brought to my life is that I started to get interested in economics and finance. I have learned a lot about those topics since I started with Bitcoin and am really thankful for that. I got the impression that I lived in a bubble for long time and with cryptocurrencies it kind of popped and exposed me to how our world works. Its actually a scaring experience, but its better to know these things than to live your life with the believe that our financial system is fair.
