981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is the #1 crypto currency in the world if it's slow and expensive? on: December 24, 2023, 04:06:14 AM
Because it's the one that a lot of people trust the most, it's the one that a lot of cryptocurrency out there that aspires to be and it's like a premium if you have a bitcoin and that you're with the cool kids if you've got a bitcoin plus bitcoin's got a sure exponential growth out of all the cryptocurrency out there and the people know that despite all of this things that you mentioned OP. Bitcoin is the spearhead to the financial freedom revolution.
982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling All Cryptocurrency for Fiat and Earning Interest? on: December 24, 2023, 03:27:20 AM
Well, the other option is hodling Bitcoin and hoping that it will grow more and more and you can not only retire but live luxurious life off it. But I think the risk/reward ratio suggests that it's better to retire asap by taking Bitcoin profits and reinvesting them in safe assets. Because just as Bitcoin can go to millions, it could also crash to the ground, and that would be catastrophic for someone who planned to retire with Bitcoin gains - now they would have to start from scratch.
You got to sell that bitcoin at some point because you can still get back into bitcoin, imagine the scenario where you've got an emergency and the amount of bitcoin that you're hodling is enough to help you get through that emergency but it's not yet at your target price, I know I would sell that bitcoin just so I can get out of that emergency as quickly as possible.

I don't know about reinvestment but that seems a good idea but it's going to depend on your situation and the amount you're hodling at that moment that you're seriously pondering this question, if you've got enough bitcoin stored that you can retire if you sell it then go for it but if you're not then reinvestment might be a good idea but choose the next investment wisely.
983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don’t think bitcoin is now decentralized on: December 24, 2023, 02:53:04 AM
The confirmation time is not proportional to fee. If the fee is below certain threshold, your transaction will probably never be confirmed. Like, if you put a 1 sat/vByte fee, it may never be confirmed if the fee will never be so low ever again, or if so much time will pass that the transaction will be removed from mempool by then.
So at the end of the day, you really can't defeat the system that's reigning in the mempool, you'll still have to put some money into your transactions and not just lazily putting the lowest possible because you can wait for a long time for the confirmation? I didn't know that, thank you. It's kind of sad though that this is how it's going to be with transaction fees, you can't pay too low or your transaction won't come through but you don't want to pay absurd amounts just to have the normal speed in transactions. I hope these ordinals lose their charm before the halving.
984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge orders Craig Wright to pay over $1M on: December 24, 2023, 02:12:03 AM
Why is this person trying so hard to prove that he's Satoshi Nakamoto? If he was, he could simply login to this forum and make a post and clear it out.
What an idiot I would say. What's your thought on this?
That's the only way to prove himself but I think everyone knows already that he's the fake one and that a lot of his stories are just not matching up with any that a lot of us knows and he would've mentioned the other person's identity that helped with the building of the forum with. Another thing about Craig is probably that he already knows that it's all a joke and nothing more than just a deception, he just loves the spotlight and our attention too much that he'll do anything to keep that spotlight trained at him and our attention at him, that's what I think how his mind works in all of this issue.
985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 23, 2023, 09:38:13 AM
My question now is that is it wise that I showed him the amount of Bitcoins I have accumulated before he developed interest?
It's smart but far from wise right now, for it to be considered wise, you have to tell that friend of yours the negatives of bitcoin too especially the volatility part, that's a big factor in my opinion that can decide if that friend will continue to invest in bitcoin because she's pumping out a lot of money in it for a newbie which wouldn't be advisable since it's a big money. Also tell her that she only needs to invest only what she can afford to lose because if she's hodling and her goal is the big profit in her bitcoin investment then that money will have to stay in a wallet for a really long time. Make sure that you're not going to be blamed in case the market goes down and her investment's value goes down because you're the one that's introduced her to bitcoin after all. Besides those concerns, I'm happy for you and your friend that you're able to invest in bitcoin and have hodling for the long-term in mind, may you reap great profits.
986  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: December 23, 2023, 08:53:11 AM
They need to experience losing every means they have to play, especially money because it will come at the time when they have no longer money, they will realize how to earn it and they won't gonna waste it next time. But for the people who get the money easily or always find someone who can fund them on playing, they cannot easily quit and most likely they can recruit others to play with them as well. Quitting requires some positive observations into the future and when a person doesn't have any high aspirations, he often doesn't care about that.
Losing everything doesn't mean they'll automatically learn about things, some might even go deeper than that and try to ask for a loan to continue their habit that's slowly turning to addiction every single day that they're spending on it. I don't think that prospecting the future is the key to quitting maybe it's just a part of it but I think and believe that the key to quitting gambling is to find their purpose and the person that they want to devote their lives to, what I mean by purpose is that when someone's just living their life aimlessly and swimming with the current, they're bound to look for something that will ease their search and sometimes those search lead to stuff that will lead to a life of ruin and so they end up getting stuck in that situation because they thought that the thing they've been looking for has already been found from that habit. The second one's pretty self-explanatory, you want to be the best person for that person so you'll do anything to make a positive change.
987  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: December 23, 2023, 08:18:55 AM
~
No casino will have a hidden policy and still make it known to their customers, Doing this undermines the entire intension of such policy, which is for it to be hidden.
And secondly, I honestly do not know if government usually will have the time to operate a gambling casino, but if they do, then personally, I believe that such casino will be the center of KYC.
But on the other hand, even if governments are to run a gambling casino, it will definitely be an offline casino, not the online one like we all on this forum are already acustomed to.

Anyways, whether government or private online or offline gambling casino, the fact remains that, kyc is something or a process we as gamblers can not run away from forever, we can only avoid casinos with this feature for some time.
I think I've misread and misunderstood it so I might be giving out a bad opinion that's not align with what I truly mean. When I was replying to this, my brain automatically implied with hidden that it's something that's still in the terms and condition but well hidden either by clustering it with words that are fresh in someone's eyes and they might not know or understand it or something that convolutes the simple terms so the readers won't catch on in regards to how they will handle you, your data and your experience in their casino or in short it's implied to me that it's the fine print. Of course if something's hidden, then that means that it's hidden and it won't be shown.

To answer your wondering about the government operating a casino, they have the manpower and gambling is a good source of tax and income if they operate one so it's a must for them to have a department or a government agency that handles gambling and the gambling industry as a whole, if you're a government that can't do that or assign a group of people to manage that small part of your economy and country then you're failing as a government. Totally agree about the KYC part, we need to be able to play with peace and know that we're playing somewhere that's not infested of money launderers.
988  Economy / Gambling / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 23, 2023, 07:50:56 AM
While this topic is probably helpful to someone out there, it is not the only topic of its kind. I see that you are new here so I would like to ask you to please take the time to use the search feature before making a post to make sure you aren't making a duplicate topic. Also, make sure you are posting in the correct section as this topic would belong in the gambling discussion board IMO.
It's tiring that we're just saying the same thing about this kind of stuff, maybe it's time that we should bump the oldest topic that's talking about this topic and then talk there about new tips, maybe a mega or giga thread of advice about gambling and how not to become addicted to it, helps with the congestion in the Gambling and Gambling Discussion so we can see more topics unrelated to tips and tricks on how to be a responsible gambler or maybe someone just create a new thread that will make it official that if we're talking about what to do and what not to do in gambling, we will just post there.
989  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you want to see in casino reviews? on: December 23, 2023, 06:42:59 AM
Also what I would like to see in a casino review is the customer care relationship with players, the accusations or alleged scam on the casino and how they were able to let themselves off it by providing evidence that they are not scammers. This is important because everything about review of casino centres on scam or not so to include this area to the review will be quite interesting and important.
As much as I like to see that, in an article form of casino review, that's going to be a lot of stuff to be given to the people to read and it's not really a good thing for a casino reviewer to do those because the casino that's being reviewed might see it as something that's slandering their brand especially if they've got an issue recently and it don't matter if this looks weird in your eyes but I think that as much as you can, never touch the issues like these when you're reviewing, make sure that you're neutral to your review so you're not going to have any problem. For me, I'm just sold with a review if they say stuff like bonuses for new players or any kind of freebies.
990  Economy / Gambling / Re: Does anyone find the spate of online casinos a bit uninspired? on: December 23, 2023, 05:47:03 AM
A lot of them seem to be hastily assembled clone sites with very little effort put in and gimmicky marketing. Do you guys have any thoughts on this... plague?
This so-called plague won't ever end my guy because gamblers will always gamble no matter the quality of the website that they're playing in, as long as it's passable to the players and it's making you money, I don't think that we will ever see a stop in this problem. Makes me remember of the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' I mean that's how I see this stuff that you're so worried about but others have a different opinion or even share your sentiment which is valid because some people crave something new and we should be constant when it comes to changes.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time for a transaction to confirm, nowadays on: December 22, 2023, 07:00:49 AM
So what you're saying is that the solutions like accelerators are useless because everyone's using accelerators and so it ends with them not having any effects, kind of like if everyone's a businessman then there's no customer/consumers? I guess that's probably the best option, wait it out and let the others do the other stuff, another question, what would happen if I'm the only one that's waiting or there's only a few of us waiting because the other transactions have been accelerated and now they're congested there, will the transaction get faster?
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentina has officially approved the agreement to legalize the use of Bitcoin on: December 22, 2023, 06:36:48 AM
Why is the Minister of the Foreign Affairs the one that's confirming this news of bitcoin legalization though? Shouldn't it be the finance branch or the bank branch of the Argentinian government the one that should be confirming this? I'm just confused because as I remember, foreign affairs are involved in international relations and diplomacy right? From what I've read, it's not a complete adoption yet but given the stance that President Javier Milli takes on this particular issue, I don't think it's not a far before bitcoin becomes a legal tender in the country, celebrating with you Argentinian bitcoin users, you're one step ahead of the many countries including mine that are still resisting the allure and benefits that bitcoin have, I hope that we will follow suit soon and be the first one in SEA.
993  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ‘MS Drainer’ scammers used Google Ads to swipe $59M in crypto: Report on: December 22, 2023, 05:57:53 AM
That's why I only do my browsing on Twitter and Google with Brave, it's got a built-in adblocker so you don't need to worry about those pesky ads that are on the websites that you visit or sometimes pop-up and take you to a different website. I would probably credit Brave for being able to help me not worry if I clicked on something dangerous on the ads because there's no ads there. I just hope that they don't have that problem with YouTube anymore where there's no sounds playing in the videos but if I use another browser, there's no problem with the sound.
994  Other / Meta / Re: Eli5 sub under beginners and help on: December 22, 2023, 05:31:34 AM
Beginners and help board is sufficient. A member could just ask for ELI5, although it's up to other member how well they can explain things as simple as possible. Although for complex stuff or specific question, ELI5 doesn't seem to be possible.
This is what I thought would be the problem too, that it's going to be difficult to explain some of the crypto information like you're talking to a 5-year old, it's going to be difficult task especially if there's not a lot of people that are adept at that field and it's difficult to do it to those that will answer the questions and do the explaining because if they only have a surface knowledge, they're bound to have a hard time dumbing down the answers to make it easy for someone to understand and also there's the terms that are really difficult to explain like cryptospace, cryptocurrency, bitcoin core and many more. Maybe just copy the answer of the other users to your questions and then paste it in ChatGPT then ask the AI to simplify it or do a prompt like this: "Explain this next sentence like you're explaining it to a five-year old kid." From there you can tweak the prompt to make specific requests to your liking.
995  Other / Meta / Re: A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation (SMF patch) on: December 22, 2023, 03:57:16 AM
Congratulations @PowerGlove, pretty awesome feature, now you can work on the offensive security feature of 2FA because afaik, there are ways to bypass that authentication. From what I've heard, there was this one streamer that had his Steam account with a 2FA still being accessed by a third-party and at the same time ended with all of his in-game items stolen. I don't know though if it's a concern here though, just looking out.
996  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino Christmas Bonuses - Suggestions Anyone? on: December 22, 2023, 03:21:27 AM
In Roobet, have you seen the Frosty Flipping Fortune $250K? It started on the 1st day of December, but you can still join to accumulate raffle tickets. Every day, there's a daily bonus available for all players based on their previous day's wagering activity. Of course, the more you wager, the bigger the gift will be the following day. The percentage of the prize also increases as the event progresses. The draw will take place on Christmas day.
Would the money you spend accumulating those raffle tickets be just enough that in the case you've win, you're going to get a good profit? It's a pretty cool raffle by Roobet, didn't know they've got that although I haven't played there in a while and I don't think I'm going to check that out because it's probably too late for me now to accumulate unless I have a lot of gambling funds which I don't have, congratulations to the winner though, I hope you'll do your own giveaway to celebrate that 250k win.

It's nice that casinos are doing this types of events that will help them gather more players, maybe it's time for me to change how I gamble. Save all the would be gambling funds and then wait for Christmas to come around and splurge on the casino that gives out the best bonuses for the season.
997  Economy / Gambling / Re: Slot Educational on: December 22, 2023, 02:45:29 AM
Physical slots on physical casinos gives a entirely different and very good experience in playing slots, like that flashing lights, other people some are winning and creating funny environment, etc.
Digital casinos are not very fun to play, specially slots because only we can see graphics winning and losing with people chatting. which is like physical casinos but not very fun to play.
Live casinos are good because there we can see real people who is winning and chatting, etc.
Well duh, that's always been the case the experience of online casinos and physical casinos have always been different and I think that physical casinos have the best experience because at least in a physical casino there's an interaction involved. The only charm of online casinos is that it's convenient and you can do it anywhere even while you're working although that's not an advisable thing to do, that's the point of online casinos. In a way, they're filling in on the gaps that they both lack so even if I say that physical casinos are superior to online casinos, that don't mean that it's a perfect one, it still has flaws like you're likely to get kicked out of there when you're winning way too much and you can't appeal unlike with online casinos where you only need to do some KYC.
998  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🐺 wild.io 🎰 Wheel of Fortune 🎁 Daily Rewards 🔥 10 Minutes Cashouts on: December 22, 2023, 01:33:01 AM
I haven't seen OP replying to any of the inquiries in his recent replies and I gotta say, that looks bad because you're ignoring people that are asking questions which is bad no matter how you look at it. Hopefully we get to see some replies because the more the questions stacks up, the more it gets harder to answer everything even if some of the questions are going to be the same and we factor in that the redundant questions will only be answered once since they're only a few. Hopefully it's going to be different now and that they're doing something about it, maybe that inactivity can go away and it's a good idea for it to go away anytime soon.
999  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 21, 2023, 09:26:39 AM
Just see to it that even if we're getting some guarantees that the price of Bitcoin will go up, much better to look at it as if it will still have some downtime and correction. There is no other expectations for you to be made when you're like that and what's important is you know that it is not daily pump but there will be some balancing along its way to a new high. So, if you still don't know what to do. Keep on observing and like what others are reminding everyone, buy and HODL.
There's no guarantee that the price will go up after the halving, the price pump happens months if not years before happening so just cool down and not get too excited when the halving happens because there's not a lot of eventful things when halving happens, maybe the price will go up for a little bit and then become steady, and that's how it's been for awhile already. Just do what you've already said in the last part, that's the only thing you can do anyways and all we can do is just wait for things to happen.
1000  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Better Than Digital Gold on: December 21, 2023, 07:02:25 AM
Both are valuable resources.  As gold is popular among all, bitcoin is a little less known.  But both are valuable assets. We should invest more or less in both.  If you have enough money, I would say to buy gold. You don't have to be aware of any risk in buying gold. But in buying bitcoin, you have to have enough understanding about it and be aware of its risks.
I wouldn't say that bitcoin's less known because it's already 13 years already and I think that's enough time for bitcoin to be spread across the Internet so I don't buy it that bitcoin isn't popular among the people of the Internet, maybe it's not yet as popular as gold but I'm sure that the gap is getting closer and closer every year. As much as I agree that both are valuable assets, I think that I would just stick to bitcoin because of the profit that you can get out of hodling it compared to hodling gold that grows in measly amounts compared to bitcoin, you're better off investing bitcoin because you're likely to keep it safe compared to gold where people would be able to steal it physically.
