1261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 08, 2013, 11:50:15 PM
Seriously jealous now.

What's a realistic shipping date for someone making an order just now? I just don't want to gamble that much. If it's going to ship in 3-4 months time FSM knows where will difficulty be at that point...
I would suggest waiting until batch 2 customers start to receive theirs. It should give you an adequate idea of when Batch 3 users will get theirs.

The problem is CNY (Chinese New Year) was in the way of the first and second batch. So there is no real way to know how long it should take from ordering to having it in your hands.

If you wanna get on the train, you're gonna have to order when batch 3 opens no matter what.  You won't get another chance until batch 4.

Whether batch 2 will ship before then or not is anyone's guess.

Hey guys, just got a batch of tracking numbers, going to send out emails through out the day today.

I've heard nothing either.  My order was placed 23 minutes after Keefe's, number 20000017x, so I expect I'm not too far behind him in the queue.  I'm also in the US.

I sure wish I could login to the avalon webstore and see the status of my order, and maybe tracking information, but alas the link 404s anymore.

I can tell you it's shipped as your tracking info was on the list, so is Keefe for that matter.

Woohoo!   Grin

Thank you for the confirmation!  No email yet, but I haz some more patience.

I plan to take the day off when it's scheduled to arrive, so I'll be sure to be home to receive it (I imagine it may require a signature.)

Just got a voicemail from DHL informing me that I need to be home tomorrow to receive a package. The VM contained a tracking number. Package originates from Hong Kong.
joking?
 Wink

I will be sorely disappointed if this turns out to be some random thing ordered on ebay that was forgotten about.

Have you looked up the tracking number and confirmed that the weight is as expected?
1265  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: x6500s available with escrow on: March 08, 2013, 12:55:05 PM
I bought 4 of these from EngMan in 3 purchases, first 2 with BTC on bitmit (escrowed by bitmit), and then with paypal by PM here.

All of them were shipped quickly by Priority Mail, and were quite well packed.

They're happily mining away now alongside my GPUs.
1266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: discount on Avalon ASIC - read this on: March 08, 2013, 03:38:55 AM
I'm also interested, as I mentioned in PM in February.

I hope I'll get a chance to buy if the current prospective purchaser does not buy.
1267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 FPGA won't mine??? on: March 08, 2013, 01:08:37 AM
Hey, I just recently acquired a X6500, in hoping to break even before the wave of ASICs come in. However, when I plug the FPGA up to my computer, I'm getting around 38mhash/s. What's going on???

What OS, and what mining software?

USB hub, or connected directly to a motherboard USB port?

How are you powering the x6500?

Have you tried a different USB port?

Have you tried rebooting?

Does the hashrate vary, or is it consistent?

Is the hashrate equal between the two FPGAs, or unequal?

What pool?
1268  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: BUYING BFL SINGLE SC! on: March 07, 2013, 09:36:27 PM
FWIW, there was a guy in here offering $10,000 for an in-hand Avalon.

If I had my Avalon right now I would not take him up on that offer.  Make it $25k and maybe I would.
1269  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] X6500 FPGA BTC miners (With Escrow) USA ONLY via bitmit or verfied PayPal on: March 07, 2013, 09:29:51 PM
Hey to the other's who bought these, since the power cables aren't included what cable did you guys get/use for these. I have an extra PSU to use for molex for when they arrive but since I didn't get a ton I think a wallwart would be best any recommendations?

I just plugged mine into the spare Molex connectors on my GPU miner.  Installed MPBM on my existing BAMT USB stick, and now that machine manages the FPGAs too.

For a wallwart, I'd use these:

Where did you pay for it with paypal?

I just PM'd him, and he sent me an invoice.  If you read the OP above, he mentions that he'll take paypal for them (verified accounts).
1271  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Various 58xx / all have fan issues on: March 07, 2013, 03:46:30 PM
I'm buying the 5870s.  He says they work for mining and for gaming and output video on all ports, but he has not tried scrypt mining.

I guess I'll find out soon.
1272  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] X6500 FPGA BTC miners (With Escrow) USA ONLY via bitmit or verfied PayPal on: March 07, 2013, 01:04:52 AM
Hey, I bought one from bitmit yesterday for 6.433BTC, which was $220 the day I bought it. With the huge increase in bitcoin prices, however, 6.433BTC is now equal to around $300. Is there anyway I can get some of that back?

Plug the miner in and you'll start getting some back.

I paid 8 BTC for one myself.

Fortunately I then bought the next couple using paypal.
1273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ready to ship? on: March 06, 2013, 04:18:45 AM
I just saw this at the BFL forums....

Bumping is done and chips should be getting shipped off to the packager Saturday.

Maybe you're confusing the packaging of finished miners with the packaging of the chip dies inside FCBGA chip packages, which is what's being done now.

There are still a lot of steps before they can ship a finished product.
1274  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] BFL FPGA Singles (2-3) US only on: March 06, 2013, 02:41:14 AM
I recently bought one for $568 shipped, $18 of which was to cover pp fees.

Thanks shulace.

1276  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon will ship 290 units by tomorrow, correct? on: March 05, 2013, 08:25:14 PM
Wouldn't it be nice if by March 10th, 2013, Yifu would send all 600 Units :3? One can dream.

He could be doing just that.  Busting ass to ship 300 units by the 10th correctly.

I can only hope.

Ship all units for great justice.

It won't happen... We will see batch 2 mid April.
I don't think to be pessimist, why do everyone here think they will become rich fast? (Irony!)

Just like I don't know, you don't either.  So why not just wait and see what happens rather and throwing salt over and over again?
Because while I have a big batch 2 order I don't act like everyone else here. I'm realist.

I'm actually only hoping to receive my Batch 1 order in March.  I fully expect that my batch 2 order will be April+.
1277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: International express freight users will get a Partial Refund on: March 05, 2013, 06:04:38 PM
$200 for intl express shipping on a Single?  Surely an SC Single weighs < 1Kg.

And that's each.  Looks like they don't give any combined shipping discounts.

Jeez.

Surely the true cost is closer to $70.  No?
1278  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PrimeAsic - a 4 unit Avalon..? on: March 05, 2013, 04:42:34 PM
I thought of that as well.  It would be funny if they somehow pirated the chips.
1279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL - Update 3/4 on: March 05, 2013, 03:13:33 PM
Actually I meant expensive in the sense of recouping the NRE with shipped product and not the actual cost of the wafer.

They'll just make more wafers.  They're not gonna lose any orders for having sacrificed that one wafer (IMO).

It still told them that the chips operate at a basic level.  The test could have gone the other way where the chips didn't operate at all, and they would have needed to start looking for a cause right away.

I think that the manually-wirebound test had value.
