The permanent solution is probably to give the vendors mod powers within their own threads, to delete messages and such.
WOW this would not be a good idea. Yes that's like giving PirateAt40 mod powers to his original BTCST thread. Great idea! The vendors would just have this power for their one "official" thread, and users would be made aware of this. If users felt like they were being censored, they could still post in the other threads like always.

This thread is to document the state of bASIC refunds in a convenient list all in one place. To play along at home, if you have requested a bASIC refund, post in the thread this information: * Order date * Order number * Quantity BASIC01 (the $1069.99 72GH/s unit) * Quantity BASIC02 (the $599.99 36GH/s unit) * Quantity BASIC02 --> BASIC01 upgrade * Order status currently shown on website * Payment type (Bitcoin or credit card) * Date refund was requested * Date refund was received (empty if not received) All fields are optional. Feel free to omit any that you think may compromise your privacy. For all dates, please use the international friendly date format: 17-Jan-2013 If you requested a refund, and then cancelled your refund request, with your final disposition being to keep your order, then please do not post.Edit: All orders are to be refunded: https://www.btcfpga.com/forum/index.php?topic=1048.0

BitSyncom, any chance you could post how many units you shipped at the end of each day?
Even better would be to also include what order number you've shipped up to.
Thanks.

* A UPS to condition the power, and keep everything from rebooting when grid power fails and the genset is still starting up. It's OK if the air conditioning is not UPS-backed.
What's the value proposition of that requirement? To me it looks like something to attract obsesive-compulsive nutbags or completely clueless newbies. Mostly in the conditioning of the power. I suppose for mining it's not really a big deal if things reboot, though I imagine a select few critical systems ought to still be UPS'd.

Since BFL chose the FCBGA package with a metal top cover, I will be disappointed if it's not laser engraved with a holographic BFL logo.

Number of Pads: 48 8 Data 40+1 Power 40 of the pads are GND and 1 is VCC only have 8 tracks of Data What? That makes no sense. There's 48 pins and the one thermal slug under the chip. Of the 48 pins, 40 are power (GND and Vcc), and the +1 refers to the thermal pad which is also ground. Good, that really is not important, the story is that there are only 8 pads data, the remaining 40 are split between GND and VCC. my 2cents would be that its better form-factor or for cooling if the chip can be fed power from multiple lines where it is needed, rather then piping in through 2 lines and being forked within the chip to where power is consumed. (Im not a hardware professional/manufacturer, thats just my logic for explaining the number of connections) my other 2 conspiracy theories are: 1) more contacts simply help keep the chip sealed to the board better to prevent seperation in the case of thermal expansion/contraction or other physical abuse 2) some power connects are redundant in case errors or heat problems cause some pins to burn out or short. (though i dont think this is a very likely practise for mitigation of such an issue) Suppose the underside of the board contains the ground plane, which is connected to the top layer with a bunch of vias to the solder pads that connect to the thermal pads on the bottoms of the QFN chips. Then the top side of the board has the Vcc plane, which connects to the chips on all the pins that are not otherwise used for data. That way they have the metal in place to support moving a lot of amps through the chips. If they wanted to get more extreme they could even apply a DC bias to the data pins and use them for power too.

To do it right, you ought to have: * Redundant internet connections to 2 or 3 different providers, ideally each using a different technology (cable, DSL, and fiber for instance). These should be business-class managed connections with SLAs. The kind where they call you when it goes down, usually within a minute. * Redundant cooling. 2 separate air conditioning systems, each one able to manage the full cooling load on its own, even on a hot day. Plan for room to grow. * Redundant power feeds. Connections to 2 different power providers. * Redundant standby generators, each one able to manage the full load of the equipment *and the cooling* and everything else on its own. I would use 2 diverse fuel types, probably one Diesel and one propane/nat gas. The gensets should be periodically tested, and of course maintained. Plan for room to grow. * A UPS to condition the power, and keep everything from rebooting when grid power fails and the genset is still starting up. It's OK if the air conditioning is not UPS-backed.
You'll need a lot of other things too, but those are some big ones.
You'll need a lot of interior wiring and load centers and such for power distribution. If I were you I'd try and use 240V circuits to power everything whose power supply can accept it, for efficiency's sake. Having the ability to remotely and/or programmatically power-cycle the circuits/outlets would be nice to have too.
You yourself should be redundant. You should have a trusted partner who has full access and can do everything you can, in case something needs to be done and you're unavailable.

I skipped all the speculative rambling that is so common on this forum, and would simply like to add some useful information. I emailed Dave January 13th asking for a CC refund for my purchase and received an email response from him on the 17th stating it has been refunded. Today, the money is back in my account.
It is well known that those who used CC to purchase are getting refunds. Those who used bitcoin to pay on the other hand are still waiting. I've not spoken to anyone that used bitcoin to pay that has received a refund. Kind of sad that a CC was safer to use. Not good for bitcoin. A lot of BTC were refunded: http://blockchain.info/address/19Ysizrie7XAGcqSTzhCTsMTuUaFU1hCEaBut only on 11-Jan. I count myself lucky that my refund was included in that batch. I have not heard of anyone receiving a BTC refund since then.

It's already late night in China. Unlikely that they are going to shoot pics/videos instead of taking some much needed sleep.
Yeah, really. Let them get some rest. I'm sure jgazrik or the Bitcoin Foundation ppl would be honored to post the first pics/video of one.

How are the service and its facilities protected against:
* Overheating (cooling system failure) * Power failure * Power surges or other electrical mishaps * Internet connectivity failure * DDoS * Physical theft of hardware * Penetration and theft of BTC by h4x0rz * Fire * Earthquake * Lightning strike * Flooding
