Next, they have begun finalizing the next batch of 6 wafers before they actually know what will actually happen when all 16 cores hash at full speed. (magic smoke?)
I don't believe they have actually given the go-ahead to finalize the next 6 wafers. Read the announcement again. Just hope that they do all the function test thoroughly, returning a buggy product after several weeks of running will be even more terrible from an end user's point of view
In this case I disagree. For as normal product this would be true, but in this case I think that customers would rather have it for a few weeks and have to return it than not. It would suck for the vendor though. Im a customer so Im trying to stay optimistic but I cant even imagine how people who ordered summer of 2012 are feeling with thousands of $ locked up for 8 months and endless excuses and delays.
Imagine ppl who ordered then and paid in BTC. A Single would cost about 216 BTC.

$400, wow. I offered him $525 for one and he accepted. It did seem a little low (I was expecting a counteroffer). Not terribly low though. Their trade-in value is only $599.
He sent me a paypal invoice, which in the notes says "1 bfl single", and it let me specify a shipping address when paying, so I guess it was a "goods" type invoice.

I finally got litecoin mining working well on my linux miner with 3 5830s. I get 266KH/s on each card now with zero HW errors and about 7% rejects. My cgminer script looks like this: #!/bin/sh
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1 export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
~/bin/cgminer/cgminer -o ltc.kattare.com:9332 -u xxx -p x --scrypt -I 20 --thread-concurrency 5600 -g 1 -w 128
GPUs are clocked at 800MHz with 1000MHz memory. I tried a bunch of different memory clock speeds, but this seems to do the best with an 800MHz core speed. I could probably get more speed if I OC'd the cores.

Yeah I too am getting crushed by stales after found blocks. Is there anything I can do from my side?
EDIT: Switching from cgminer to Reaper seemed to help immensely
I was having this same issue, and today I updated to cgminer 2.11.0 (from 2.10.5), and it seems somewhat better. After running for about 20 minutes now (12 new blocks on the network), my stats show A:402 R:29, or 7.21% rejected. That's improved from 2.10.5 where it was showing about A:6000 R:800, or 13.33% rejected. Edit: After a longer period, I'm now back at A:3864 R:608 NB:130. I guess I didn't fix it after all.

Did issue begin when the difficulty recently readjusted, perhaps?
You might try mining on testnet and see if that behaves any differently.
I'm not sure how much a pool hides the network difficulty from a miner. cgminer somehow seems to always know the network difficulty and display it for me regardless of what pool I use.

OK, we can pretty sure that they did not ship 50+ miner one month ago. Yifu seems was lying about the shipping status. Dishonesty seems to be a pre-requisite for ASIC vendors...unfortunately. Actually he said they were *attempting* to ship 53 units. It appears that the attempt was unsuccessful. I count 24 units in that pic. I hope you guys have more than that. I hope that all the boxes visible in the background are filled with ready-to-ship units. I see the unboxed units have their wifi antennas attached. I hope this doesn't cause any Customs issues (they're funny about radio transmitters sometimes).

Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Icarus FPGA miner in US
|
on: February 28, 2013, 03:34:18 AM

I'm trying to collect one of each type of FPGA miner, and I want an Icarus next.
PM me if you have one for sale, and what you'd want for it.
Prefer a US seller, so as not to deal with international shipping.
Thanks in advance.

I ordered in batch 1 wave 1, about 1 hour after they first went on sale. I can't even login to the webstore to check on my order any more. The link from the order confirmation email 404s. http://store.avalon-asic.com/customer/account/I'm hoping for good news tomorrow, but preparing for bad news, or worse, no news at all. If I were to speculate, I'd say that maybe they had severe yield problems with the first wafer(s) that called for a respin. If you will recall, the plan was at first to produce a prototype on a MPW in late Decemner, and then to produce full wafers, and to ship in early March. This plan was changed, and they instead went directly to full wafer production. So, if the first set of wafers didn't really work out, they would need to try again with a new set. Yifu had mentioned that the project was already in the red, so it fits that they needed to take batch 2 orders to fund the respin. It's a risky strategy. I hope it works (if it's true).
