141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin- 7% Airdrop every week on: March 08, 2018, 04:08:21 PM
Important to know for everyone, is BitCore a fork of Bitcoin, or is it a completely new coin that only used the bitcoin keys?

Bitcore is a new coin and use only the Bitcoin keys. That's the reason, Bitcore call it a virtual fork and not a real fork from Bitcoin. Also Bitcore has a smaller blockchain, bigger blocks and other features, that Bitcoin not has and you dont need to download the old, big Bitcoin blockchain (like in real forks from Bitcoin). More information about Bitcore you can find in the first two posts here in the thread. Smiley
Do not understand. It will not be a separate token with a separate purse? What problem does he solve in bitcoin?
Transactions speed and blockchain size.

bill gates said:
the main feature of crypto currencies is their anonymity. I don't think this is a good thing. The Governments ability to find money laundering and tax evasion and terrorist funding is a good thing. Right now crypto currencies are used for buying fentanyl and other drugs so it is a rare technology that has caused deaths in a fairly direct way. I think the speculative wave around ICOs and crypto currencies is super risky for those who go long.

I'd be curious to hear what Bill thinks about blockchain technology ASIDE from cryptocurrency. Such as it's Web 3.0 possibilities, elimination of global trust, etc.
Bill is a business man, not a techie, his views are shortsighted and always pro status quo, he is a billionaire after all, whatever insights he has about technology are most likely flawed.

Thanks for the airdrop! I successfully received mine.

Now, I sent some of it to HitBTC. With first confirmation, transaction already started being visible on exchange. With 6 confirmations in blockchain, I already had balance granted on my account. I transferred it to trading account and I successfully sold it.
Guys, you have one of the Craptopia alternatives here. It's fast and working. I am not going back to Craptopia ever again:)
It's not like hitbtc is an upstanding totally nonshady exchange https://www.reddit.com/r/hitbtc/ in fact I avoid them like the plague.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 24, 2018, 11:15:39 PM
Is Monero the most mined by the viruses?
Can this influence is value?
The reason there's speculation that Monero is mined mainly by botnets is because a lot of the hash power comes from unknown pools. Of course *some* of that is probably botnets, but most is probably just regular miners who value their privacy or simply don't list their pool publicly.

And no, it *probably* would not influence value in any way.
I'm sorry, I love Monero and all but this is a load of shit. Yes, botnets mine Monero, get over it.

Dear Lafu and Cryptopia.

Your  LUXcoin wallet is stuck on block 187980 (actual it is more than 189889) - it is more than 48 hours of delay

and has a version of the wallet 4.02 (4.2 actual now)

Old versions of the wallet do not see new blocks and Tx !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thx for Info ,wallet is now in Maintenance, and the wallet devs look over it asap !

Regards  Lafu
Like 50 wallets are in maintenance mode at this rate nobody will be able to deposit anything.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: February 24, 2018, 09:41:07 PM
Anyone can give me some good advice for 8x 1080ti ?  I stopped today with BWK because it begun very low price.. but, there is some good choice to mine? All coins profitability looks very low.. I was in doubt to start to forget about profitability and mine zcash or vertcoin because they could "surely" grow up value in the next future but also verge it sounded interesting..

I am very confused lately.. if you have some good advice, i would appreciate Smiley

thanks mates!
Sell your GPUs, much profit.

I mean how much risk are you comfortable with 100xmr, 1000, 10?

That is a VERY good question.

The way I see it currently we have two choices coming:

1.  Ledger:  Established company.  Hardware proven.  Track record of handling security issues well etc.
2.  Monero proprietary wallet.  Based on FOS design, specific to XMR.

I think BOTH devices share a common risk.  And that is you want to make sure there is no way for your funds to be stolen with some sort of attack.  Either on the hardware, or in between the HW and the SW on the computer.

The ledger may incur a second twist, and that is they will most likely be changing the seed word format from 25 to 24 words to match the rest of the wallets they support.  The only concern here is there is a reliable way to either convert these wallets to the 25 word form or somehow else see their seed word format supported by other software (inc. the standard cli and GUI).

I bought a Ledger, and I have not decided how much I am willing to risk there.

I recently bought a Ledger as well - mainly in hopes of moving some xmr over.

However, now I'm leaning towards just putting linux on a usb stick with a wallet there? Is there really that great of a security benefit for ledger vs a wallet on a usb stick? I'm just going to throw both in the fire safe.
For safekeeping you're probably better off just using paper wallets. Or if paper is too unreliable medium to store information for you, you can use cryptosteel.com
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 21, 2018, 06:40:06 PM

XMR will have at least 3.5% of BTC's marketcap by February 24th at just after 2pm PST.

You can take that to the bank. (I mean it this time.)

Seasons greetings to one and all.

Still on target.

Need another 1.4 billion dollars in the next 3 days...
I'll check the couch, you check yours, we can all pitch in, it's what communities are all about!

Hi! Who will answer me the question: when will altcoins be such a friendly system to move in the fairway of bitcoin? Is this day ever gonna happen? It obviously already hinders them to develop.
That's a bad google translate. No idea what you're trying to say.

The online  magazine Salon is adopting Monero for funding [...]
One more reason to use Noscript & Safescript for Firefox & Chrome respectively.
One more reason not to read that garbage.
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v11.2 on: February 12, 2018, 06:20:25 PM
Heads up, Monero is getting a slight PoW change, Claymore will need to update his miner or all the shares you'll submit after the March hardfork will be invalid.

I probably missed it, but I didn't see this coming.

Any idea/feedback about Monero-fork, MoveroV?

XMR.TO  now integrated in Monerujo android wallet! Awesome.

I didn't even know this was in the works. https://xmr.to/ is definitely Awesome.

The safest way to pay !

Yes, very slick.  To send XMR from Monerujo, put in an XMR address to send XMR, or a BTC address to convert it BTC.  No dicking around, no huge fees.  It just can't get any simpler.

Cheers to BinaryFate for the continual support and expansion of his awesome service!  And of course to the Monerujo team - donation coming, as soon as I get back to one of my storage wallets.

Ledger will solve that problem for me, SoonTM

It is even cheaper than sending direct bitcoin payments. I use it a lot already to pay some bills using a gateway that allows me to pay bills using bitcoin...
What's unfortunate the people who run xmr.to eat the high bitcoin tx fees for you, that can't be sustainable.
