Got a link for the Stallman thing?
Was a bit long ago in internet time https://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/06/12/stallman_laptop_stolen/

You can only imagine how long it took him to set it up just right https://stallman.org/stallman-computing.html

And Linux had a vulnerability for 20 years that just got "found out" a few years back, It's an OS that gives it's users a sense of security but like apple users, it doesn't keep you safe alone. TYhere are some nice OS's being developed with security in mod first like Qubes that I like.

That's pretty much why I care about this project, your right to not be spied on is freedom and we do not have that right nor are we legally allowed that right and I believe that is wrong. People think the constitution gives them that right and are raised to believe that when it is completely false.

I like Pubes too, however one bug in the xen hypervisor (and there have been plenty) and it all falls to shit and it's also not immune to the aforementioned cpu manufacturer employed backdoors ;/
No wonder Stallman cried when they stole his secure laptop.

Hey!  You can try different services like faucets.
I got 1 for free -  http://btcheat.com
You can just roll and withdraw btc on your wallet, hope you have it)))
This is a classic time waster, you will never withdraw, the game is not provably fair, its' sole existence is to shove ads down your throats while you click roll.

Lets not say you guys were not warned. Wink

Purism, anyone?  They've disabled that shit.

You mean like a security patch. Lol

This shit is integrated into chips microcode can always be rewritten anyone knows that. It is a design flaw whether intentional or not. There are backdoors in everything now. Hold onto you old hardware. Hell you can stick a usb stick on your system and it can rewrite this without you even knowing.
The amount of vulnerabilities is astonishing https://security-center.intel.com/advisory.aspx?intelid=INTEL-SA-00086&languageid=en-fr
Classic bofs? In 2017? Surely they have some old linux distro embedded eh? So old vulnerabilities became new? Interesting times.
Hopefully none of them can be triggered remotely.

why did price double in the past few days ?
Lots of speculation probably. Price will drop again and rise, as do all altcoins. Monero probably has a big future ahead of it though as it is directly competing and improving over Bitcoin on some important aspects like privacy.
Speculation thread is here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.34760;topicseen welcome to join us.

those who believe in monero, what do you think about the onion?  Huh ^^
Bitcoin had tor functionality for a very long time. I don't see that to be any advancement in technology or even an interesting idea, it's just a charade for the uninitiated, additionally tor has its set of issues as well. And how can they claim anonymity and privacy when they have a fucking rich list http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:1VuuQ3jsIRMJ:explorer.deeponion.org/richlist+&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk

Use your head people, don't be sheep. Running an aggressive signature campaign does not validate their pointless shenanigans.

Moonriders here!

What's going on with monero?
What else would you buy with your bitcoins once you've dumped your tethers?
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 22, 2017, 08:20:50 PM
Anyone know when the next BCH pump n dump is scheduled to begin? Want to make sure I sell at the top this time and grab some more bitcoin.

Thanks!
it's usually the weekend when the volume is low.looks like btg is catching up

But this weekend disappointedt a lot people who were expecting big pump will happen and they get another chance nothing happened price and volume both were low. I think only insiders know about that.

Yes, nothing is happening about price BCH is still around 0.145 and yes, i tried to trade and couldn't because someone using CAT or some other program and control price, buying at 0.145 and selling at 0.147 and take profit all around.

What is "CAT"?

Itīs a great automatic trading tool made by Sampey, i Mrnat, personally bought it and use it, its very complex and its lifetime, a great product
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=507103.0;topicseen
In case you want to buy tell Sampey the reference name Mrnat
Thanks and enjoy it

Buy Bitcore BTX and wont regret it
Or just buy the real Bitcoin.
289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin almost hitting $8000 on: November 22, 2017, 07:15:16 PM
yes correct bitcoin hitting $8000 and I think this digital currency will continuesly level up the price. Behind this everyone admire that cyrptocurrency will continue exist and helpful to us. Many user that speculation for bitcoin will be reaching more than $8000 before end this year.

True said. Bitcoin broke that 8000USD barrier and is heading towards 8500USD now. Thats somewhat amazing but also scares me as this growth of Bitcoins value is not really organic in my opinion. Its more speculation than many might think it is. So if speculators start cashing out, weak hands will follow and this will result in a sharp decline in value. I hope that the price keeps rising until 10k so that we can say we got an all time high of 10k in 2017! After that if price goes down to 6k or so Im willing to buy in again!
An economic crisis might come really soon, in the first part of 2018, and I think people might find their refuge in Bitcoin, since it's the digital gold. I really think It will continue to grow despite the downturn of the economy, so I think people won't sell it for now.

Interesting point here, what makes you think that there will be a global economic crisis in the first quartal of 2018? I am really curious what will happen to Bitcoin in the near future. If what you said turned out to be true and people really flew into Bitcoin, it is likely that many countries will try to regulate or even forbid Bitcoin.

In some countries Bitcoin is already illegal, but that is not going to stop the raising in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies for that matter. But Bitcoin has his own political problems with a lot of groups trying to take over and controll "the real bitcoin" (There are like 5 Bitcoins now) and this could affect in some way Bitcoin. The truth is that Bitcoin technollogy is not that good, it is slow, it have scalability problems, political problems, high fees, etc; and there are other cryptos that are way more better, better governance, better technology, more descentrilized and with lower fees, and when people realize this, they are going to change from bitcoin to any other better options such as NEM, Monero, Dash, PIVX, Decred, you name it! all better thatn Bitcoin.
None of the coins you mentioned (btw I'm a huge Monero fan) haven't been put to the test like bitcoin to see their shortcomings, they all have scalability issues and if they get the same number of transactions as Bitcoin the fees will be high as well.

Not getting excited about ATHs until 2020.

My opinion is that in 1 Year Deeponion will overtake XMR.
Cool story bro.
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 22, 2017, 11:22:40 AM
How long does a transaction take and what are the cost for BCH?

Somebody who can answer this??? Thank you in advance!
Basically free, since the blockchain barely sees any transactions. Very likely your transaction will confirm if you don't pay any fees at all. Since nobody is actively using BCH you can only see tumbleweeds.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 22, 2017, 10:27:48 AM
I cannot understand why dash has any traction.  Can someone ELI5 for me?  It makes me concerned that I may be fundamentally misunderstanding, well, everything.

It's genius in the way it keeps coins off the market and can let you collect passive income with minimal effort. It's terribly designed and I am waiting for someone to exploit one of the algos and make a killing while destroying it. TBH, I'm kind of surprised the FBI hasn't stepped in and thrown Evan in jail for running an unregistered security, but I'm guessing they will use that as proof that cryptocurrencies need regulation, so timing is crucial.
I think people will start liquidating their masternodes by the time FBI does anything.

How did exchanges got tether? Lets say poloniex, they paid USD to get them or they just print them themselves?

My guess is that btc and kraken essentially are the Omni foundation.  They pooled some USD, EUR, JPY and issued corresponding tether. But they reserve the right to disregard your redemption request.  AFAICT, the only way to redeem it for USD at retail is to sell for USD on kraken, or buy crypto with it, and sell that wherever you like.  As far as bfx is concerned, there is simply no difference between USDT and USD.  It is entirely fungible.  On kraken, where the exchange is explicit, there is often a small delta to NAV, but rarely enough to make a retail arbitrage, and never for long.

I didn't even know there was a USD/USDT pair, thx. Kraken is worthless to US Residents though afa I'm concerned.

295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: November 21, 2017, 07:13:06 PM
BTC's death is the death of the entire market. BTC is the only rival, Ethereum.
Not necessarily, bad things happen in real life.
New things are coming and this first wave raised awareness about Blockchain, and its possibilities. In the next few years market will be flooded with new coins, forks..
Another thing - never say never.
I would actually be surprised if Bitcoin stayed forever. Surely people used to believe that sea shells were the best currency around, and now most people don't even know that they were used as such.

In the future not only Bitcoin will be replaced, but cryptocurrencies as a whole. But who knows how many decades, centuries or even millenia that will take.
Who cares about the distant future, I want my yellow lambo while my balls haven't dropped all the way down to the floor.
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 21, 2017, 03:58:36 PM
Anyway, if people start to panic and lose trust in tether, wouldn't that mean higher bitcoin/altcoin prices? Surely they'll either be buying crypto to get rid of them or trade them for actual cash possibly bellow $1?
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 21, 2017, 03:50:07 PM
Thanks for that. Happily, it seems they are effectively protecting the interests of legitimate tether holders.  Sadly, there is no real arb on the fade.
Or they're just trying to cover their asses for printing hundreds of millions of new tethers these past few months. Blame it on the "hackers" get off scot-free

Oh awesome made it on hitbtc.
Did hitbtc credit people who had btc with them on exchange 1:0.5?
Nope, probably dumping it themselves.
