One thing I forgot to add about the shale gas exploration in the case that started the thread...

I don't know the situation in Texas ...
-wiki only mentions 2 larger than 6 Richter scale earthquakes last century and I don't know how far they are from the wells-
but in the case of the Pungesti exploration , it is in a 100 km range from the most active earthquake center in my country which triggered 5 7+ Richter scale earthquakes last century.

If 700 000 fled in January February alone , I think that the number has reached 60 millions by now according to russia today Wink

Most of the 700,000 figure given by the Russia Today is undoubtedly that of the economic migrants. But at the same time, it would be wrong to say that there are less than 20,000 refugees. There are tens of thousands of people who haven't registered as refugees yet. A large portion of the Eastern Ukrainians (may be a majority of them) have their relatives in Russia. Such people have moved to their relatives' houses, but at the same time they haven't registered as refugees.

So basically you admit there are only about 20 000 real refugees Smiley. Thanks.

An estimated 675,000 Ukrainians left for Russia in January and February, fearing the “revolutionary chaos” brewing in Ukraine, Russia's Federal Border Guard Service said. Officials fear a growing humanitarian crisis.

If 700 000 fled in January February alone , I think that the number has reached 60 millions by now according to russia today Wink

"As of 6:00 a.m. Moscow time today, the number of registered refugees who have crossed from the territory of Ukraine stood at over 18,900 people. They are staying in the Southern, Central and Northwestern Federal Districts, as well as Sevastopol and Crimea," Russian Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax on Thursday.

NxT just like ripple.  Please recalculate the capitalization.  It has less volume than XC, Monero, et al.

It has more volume right now than peercoin and better distribution than both peercoin and litecoin.  50% of peercoin are controlled by 60 addresses. Litecoin is just as bad.  All 1 billion nxt were distributed to original stakeholders who contributed BTC, and nxt currently has better distribution than both peercoin and litecoin.

It's nothing like ripple
Everything in your post is wrong.

What do you mean "everything" in my post is wrong? 50% of peercoin are controlled by top 60  addresses

http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-ppcoin-addresses.html

For litecoin, Just top 2 addresses control 22% of all litecoin

http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-litecoin-addresses.html

As for volume Nxt has consistently more volume than peercoin last month, reaching a high of 2 million 3 weeks ago

So what exactly is TaunSew is whining about?

You can't talk about fair distribution with a coin that was distributed to 70 people as nxt was

Wake up to see Netherlands barely winning against Australia. This is a really weird world cup. Netherlands crushed the current world champions and barely winning against a completely unknown soccer team. Props to the Australians for having such a close game.

Props to the referee for another free penalty kick and not a yellow card in the next scenes where another player thought he was jumping in the pool.

So , where there soldiers in the plane or not?

This is latest news that "A new briefing paper by IDMC highlights violence and abuses perpetrated by Nigeria’s most notorious Islamist insurgent group, Boko Haram, and the scale of internal displacement provoked by its campaign of terror. According to government authorities,* a total of 3.3 million people have been internally displaced in the country due to violence, including by that caused by Boko Haram."
Boko Haram blamed for Nigeria village attacks; 15 killed, chief kidnapped. They burned a local traders market, several homes and a church, said residents who survived the Sunday attack on the remote Christian village of Daku in the district of Askira Uba. "The gunmen looted food items and money left by traders while fleeing the attack," eyewitness and resident Andrew Musa said of Sunday's violence. "They pursued people who attempted to flee into nearby bushes and shot them. We recovered 15 bodies from the bushes after the attack, including that of the village chief,"

Yes, the dev is gone. We need a hero to take over.

This is the opportunity to send a message to the world that oil transactions can be done in crypto currency than fiat money. If you were interested in this cause and have the capability and marketing skills, this is your chance.

Who the hell would walk away from this that had enough ambition to start it in the first place?  This coin could be HUGE with the right people behind it!

1) Kid who run out of LSD or was sent to summer camps by parents
2) Scammer selling dreams

But this scams and similar things like this , all addup and general people lose more and more faith in Alt-coins . And eventually make Bitcoin lose its value and general people start avoiding it  ! So this kind of devs would be even selling off Bitcoins too as soon as possible in dollars and in turn destroying the whole bitcoin system itself !  Undecided

People who are lured in these kind of scams need to be raped with an iron carrot.

If bitcoin relies on the faith of such people then it's a failed project already.

Hi niothor,

Are you a quark holder at this time. I'm not sure if you are pro qrk or not. Anyway, what do you think about the creation of a 30M super block to be held by escrows or foundation and released only for completed projects? Do you think it could work out or would you consider this a bad idea?

It seems only coins that have large development pots or have developers that devised ways to retain a lot of coins have active development and active communities.

Some people seem to think it's a good idea, i personally think if we could guarantee all the coins were put to great use for qrks benefit it would be great and get a lot more conversations going about how they could be best used.

I guess there would be some negatives to doing this but it could be worth investigating?

Hi cryptohunter Smiley

I am no quark holder but I can't say that i'm pro or against quark (the coin) , if we take the whole community  yeah I dislike it.

I believed the coin had a few flaws from the start.
The biggest is the distribution model... you can see its effects right now with a block reward worth 2 cents.

What i disliked were the obvious pumps by the mk guy who then switched to maxcoin and now to startcoin and the obvious lies of the wow kid digitalindustry.

One example... he bragged 1 months about quarkpaymnets , we had a website with a timer , timer went to 0 and after 6 months we have still no service. This and much more.

About the 30m block. It's the nail in the coffin.

When a country is in debt , they don't have money to pay wages ,what does the central bank do? It prints money. Out of thin air. That's why they call them fake money , fiat money.

And this is what you are going to create. Value out of thin air.
Who will hold quark when maybe tomorrow you will decide to print another 500 millions?

This formula is made specifically for quark algo coins...it won't work for for BTC...it's based on the supply/demand formula.

Why can't you tie it to such a formula? This formula is based on what is used everyday all around to world to determine price indexing.

Make your mind.

Made specifically for quark based on its hash rate...Quark = MH/s....SHA256 = GH/s....Scrypt = KH/s...as you know the hashing rates are not the same depending on the algo.

Honestly and take no offense... stop it.
This is not a job for you.

You have one variable in your formula that is the hashrate.
Since that variable can go in any case (sha/scrypt/whatever) by x times up and down...the formula can be applied to any other coin by simple multiplying the value of the hashrate by a factor or diving it.

It's basic mathematics.
If it doesn't work for other coins then it's a waste of time as it is false for quark also.

Also...
the hashrate follows the mining profitability
the price will not be affected by the hashrate , already debunked 10000 times myth

I'm a Quarker who has been concerned for sometime over the networks hash rate drop. I may have a solution for you guys, but you will have to get the Quarkcoin community behind the idea. With BitQuark, I've been wanting to break the link between BTQ and BTC and also know that the network will be secure. So I came up with the formula below to set the price of the coin based on money supply and hash rate. The basics of the concept is if you want the coin to increase in value and hold that value, then you need to increase the hash rate and hold it there. Just look at the example below based on current QRK values, with the exception of an increased hash rate.

Look this formula over and input your own hash rate value to see how the price increases. Also if the hash rate remains the same and money supply increases, then the price will go down just like any other supply/demand market. If you have any questions, just ask. Thanks guys!
you cant tie price to such a formula

Why can't you tie it to such a formula? This formula is based on what is used everyday all around to world to determine price indexing.

Are you serious?
Let me tell you the only formula that works in prices?

Random number between (what vendor asks for / what buyer asks for) Smiley

Apply your formula to bitcoin price and you'll see how wrong you are.
1295  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Argentina, the next Cyprus ? on: June 18, 2014, 12:28:21 PM
Argentina's economy is standing on the verge of collapse. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, the president of Argentina, has rejected to repay 1.5 billion USD debt to USA.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/06/17/argentina-president-defies-us-court-orders-on-repayment-debts/

Can Bitcoin be the Messiah for the Argentines ?

NO!

Simple as that.
Bitcoin will not create jobs , it won't increase productivity , won't raise wages.

Don't forget that a lot of countries ended in bankruptcy even with the gold standard.
Bitcoin isn't a miraculous cure.

One of the biggest problem now Argentines will face converting their asset to BTC is no one will want their currency as an exchange. Moreover, AFAIK, Bitcoin is banned in Argentina, so there is no local exchange as such.

Now , there are no bodies there.

1297  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraq's second largest city, Mosul, captured by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria on: June 18, 2014, 12:22:31 PM
Baghdad will never fall , we have 17 000 us troops and mercenaries there , remember? Wink

The US embassy is heavily fortified and there are thousands of US troops and private security contractors guarding that facility. But if the ISIS launches a surprise attack with all their might, the Americans will not even get time to evacuate their personnel.

If the ISIS will ever try to launch an all attack on that embassy it will be their doom.
They will die there without setting foot inside.

The moment they gather in large groups for such an attacks they are targets for the planes and drones.

My guess is that they will wait until the Americans will evacuate and just then storm Baghdad.
That is they will even reach the city.

of course Spain will win Cheesy

I think that Spain and Germany could get to finals Tongue

Spain in finals ? ROFL ! They wont go past group stage. Smiley . They are the past.

I wouldn't bet on it.
Remember that Spain is on of the teams that don't look like getting in the finals at start , the last time they lost their first match against Switzerland also 1-0 but they managed to win the cup.

Can we now please talk about the world championship again please?Cheesy

What do you think about Netherlands - Australia?

3-0 Smiley.

Hm, i dont think it will be that ''easy'' because this is the match what counts for Australia.
Like Australia say: we need to give all we have now, also we play at a beter temperature, vs Chili it was to hot, and we did not tought it would be this hard, we did not give all
Now we play without that hard sun, and temp is around 20celcius.
So the temp is beter for Australia and also for us (the Netherlands)

I think Netherlands 2 - 1 Australia :O but, we will see in a few hours

First game I lost money on yesterday because of that bastard Mexican keeper haha. Who got man of the match cos he deserved it? No idea how he got to Neymar's header.

What's everyone going for the Holland game? I think people will be expecting high scores after the Spain thrashing but I'm not sure they'll go into this game with the same hunger. Maybe 2-0 2-1, but if they get an early goal it could go much higher.
Our team say: we will be stronger this match vs Australia, or like you say: with more hunger.
We learned about the last European Championship, we wont be arrogant and give every match our full 100% and more.

You have to look at the whole picture:
- they must secure the 1st spot to avoid Brazil
- Spain is demoralized and they might receive the same number of goals for Chile
- they have to build up goal difference to be nr1 even in case they draw in last match against Chile
- Chile Australia ended 3-1 , so why not 3-0?
