1702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The sad truth about Bitcoin on: January 14, 2015, 01:37:22 PM

Quote
The disparity between the rich and poor with Bitcoin is by far greater than any fiat currency in existence.  It will not survive if this remains true.

Hmm, that air carries the sweet smell of opportunity.  Stop complaining and start offering some goods or services that the "rich" might wish to purchase and pay for with Bitcoin.

Agreed. It gets old "watching the clock". Just take the time and learn how Bitcoin the technology works during these slumps. There is far more to it than just an fiduciary instrument, and if you only see it that way then you are shortchanging yourself.

EDIT: Welcome to the forum NewBTCGuy. Every once in a while we get a newbie that gets it.

I made new account incase I get banned on here for this

Why my  1.3 not being paid then~?
Theres enough balance to cover it

You should probably avoid PM'ing random users asking them to participate in your ponzi. Not cool, and welcome to my ignore list.
1704  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Warning - investing in cloud mining GHS with cex.io will lose money on: January 13, 2015, 11:37:48 PM
I dont even consider them as an option, due to the fees I keep hearing about.

When theres services like hashnest why bother.

CEX is essentially closed now. Unless bitcoin price picks up to over 300 (not looking good) everyone who invested in CEX can kiss their coin goodbye.

I'm not shedding any tears. I was still holding a few GH/s but I sold out of all cloud mining after the pbmining debacle. So I guess I unwittingly made a good move.

I am also trying to stop this guy from registering a trademark on "Bitcoin" because he wants to corner the market on items with Bitcoin logos:

That ought to be interesting. Didn't the dogecoin camp already go through this one?
1706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HAM - HamRadioCoin - SHA 256 - Crypto on the radio! Official Thread on: January 13, 2015, 06:40:52 PM
The faucet over Radio is the first of it's kind. Many crypto firsts in the HAM community.
Makes me laugh at all the new P&D coins with no real purpose.

HAM will boldly go where no Crypto coins have gone before...  Wink

That's why I am here. The team is trying to get things right and I have yet to hear even a whisper of market manipulation or other shady tactics that I have seen during the altcoin diarrhea shower of 2014.

He is a fool or a brainwashed government puppet (which, I suppose, is the same thing). Why do you not have him on Ignore?

I believe in free speech for the most part. I don't necessarily dislike him/her but the caveman comment a few posts back just gave me pause. Not sure what to make of that outlook.

I'm the OP. Obviously I believe in free speech or this thread would have been closed shortly after Roger decided to present documents proving what happened. This thread went way off-topic after that point. Help.org is one of those people that is fully entrenched in his belief of his superiority. Those types are far more disconcerting than trolls because they really believe the nonsense they spout and are willing to fight to the death to support their scary view of the world. If you don't support censorship and don't want him to spew forth more of his vomit the only thing left to do is ignore him.

I personally can't ignore the numerous contributions that Roger has made to the Bitcoin community, and I feel if we judge people for a few mistakes then it is less likely that we will get the same in return. And we might miss out on some game-changing innovations.

As I stated previously Help.org, someone I respect highly values your opinions obviously and I do enjoy your posts. That particular statement just felt a bit ad hominem. It takes all kinds though for sure. Wink

Here is how Help.org thinks we look like:
1711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Users of Bitcoin Core on Linux must not upgrade to the latest version of OpenSSL on: January 13, 2015, 02:40:22 PM
Kind of makes me glad I haven't bothered upgrading openssl in some time.

*blank stare*

Cheesy I guess he's being sarcastic

Well sarcasm is one of those things that doesn't translate well on forums sometimes. [/sarcasm] tags may be appropriate in the future.

Too geeky. I don't have a license but the regular faucet is very nice too. I hope the radio faucet will pique the interest of other HAM's though so keep spreading the word to your contacts on air guys.

irc channel is starting to pick up as well. The new server is very professional and not quite as laggy as freenode was.
1713  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: TermWallet - Lightweight Command-Line Wallet using bitcoinj on: January 13, 2015, 01:24:33 AM
Yes, there is, thanks for reminding me.  I'm looking into it, hopefully I'll add basic multisig functionality soon.

Wonderful. This is such a nice lightweight implementation. I daresay this would run on smaller platforms.

I am having difficulty finding my deposit on the page, I PM'd OP with my tx ID. Using browser search also showed up nothing.

Browser search? Do you mention Find? Try to find your BTC address, not your transaction ID

Of course I searched my BTC address. I'm not a n00b.

Looking nice man! Thanks for making that.

Now you should start a sig campaign. . . .  Cheesy
1717  Other / Meta / Re: Anyone else finds it ironic that THE forum on BTC doesn't integrate tipping? on: January 12, 2015, 04:09:35 AM
You can do it like this, but only in posts afaik: BTC Tip Me BTC
1718  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: USD->BTC exchange that doesn't require storing bank information? on: January 12, 2015, 03:34:38 AM
Yeah physical IOS/Android wallet exchanges are what I use now..

No way I'm going to store bank data on a server belonging to someone too irresponsible to hire competent developers... Most of the hacks on the "reputable" sites I'm told were high level SQL injection attacks. Entry level developer stuff.. The owners also have presence on low-ball freelancer sites..

Honestly the fact such poor quality services are listed as reputable even on bitcoin.it makes me edgy as a investor.. Nobody wants to hand money to people who think it's a video game where if your property is lost it's not suppose to be an issue..

AFAIK BitStamp covered investor losses in their recent breach. But yes, the majority of exchanges have a ho-hum attitude. Mt. Gox and even Inputs.io are still fresh in the minds of many.
1719  Other / Meta / Re: Anyone else finds it ironic that THE forum on BTC doesn't integrate tipping? on: January 12, 2015, 03:18:42 AM
If btc forum can't integrate user friendly BTC tipping, you really expect other forums adopting it?

No one should... it's a total waste of time, resources and requires addition unneeded trust.

Copy, paste and send like normal fucking humans!

*pulls hair out*

A lot of the Bitcoiners in the lime light sound like fucking Dogecoiners with this tipping shit.

This is literally all you hear on reddit, and associated drama between reddcoin which hates both doge AND changetip. For my part I don't need a fancy (and most likely insecure) browser extension to tip people with. If I want to send someone a donation they can simply post a clean address. Voila! Decentralized tipping.

I imagine too that there would be no end of butthurt from the altcoin crowd here if their coins weren't implemented to tip too.
