1601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HAM - HamRadioCoin - SHA 256 - Crypto on the radio! Official Thread on: March 25, 2015, 04:10:58 PM
**Unclaimed Coins**
If you mined on our pools and we unable to withdraw your coins, you now have 30 days to do so.
I'm a miner myself and who knows how many coins I left behind at pools that closed.

http://manhattanmine.com/unclaimed-coins

Is manhattanmine no longer supporting HAM?

Kinda easy to read what happened @ manhattanmine on the website  Cheesy It has nothing to do with supporting HAM

"This pool is currently in maintenance mode.
Our database was corrupted due to an outage from the Datacenters ISP. Unfortunately we were unable to repair the issue. We are in the process of completing a final audit and will close the pool. Coins left in our pool will be moved to cold storage. You will be able to claim your funds within 30 days. After the 30 days coins remaining will be considered a donation. For more info on claiming your coins visit http://manhattanmine.com/unclaimed-coins The community has voiced that would like us to rebuild and will do so in the near future. Thanks for mining with us!"

I should probably have clarified, I was not even able to open the site earlier - hence my question.

The p2p node on miningpools.tk still works flawlessly for me. Just a reminder for everyone.

@ Siameze: lookin' forward to developments.

As community developers, we've given a lot of thought to the How Many Branches of Media Is Best? problem. I tread on some toes 'cause I think fewer-branches-but-kept-vibrant is better than more-branches-but-no-activity.

m

You may be quite right IMZ, so it is doubtful I can be of any assistance to you with this exchange. My methods are old school and reliable lol.

I do wish you guys luck with this project, I will continue to follow the general Unobtanium thread.

1604  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-24-2015] CEX.IO Tightens Security And Removes Trading Fees For One Week on: March 25, 2015, 02:16:19 PM
I think it's a trust issue too.... They killed off a lot of customers with the suspension of the cloud mining and even before that, with the huge "maintenance cost" on mining, when it was still in operation.

I am one of them, and you know what they say.... "Once bitten....... "

The trading fees is a last ditch effort to keep the Titanic from sinking... it's a pity...They offer a GREAT service.  Sad

The maintenance costs are what has killed cloud mining plain and simple. I understand having to make a profit, but it seems the decision to suspend operations on that front was made rather quickly with no regard for their loyal customers. When this point is brought up, they tell you that you can switch on cloud mining at your own peril in the user settings page. I thought this a rather mind-boggling addition unless they are hoping some greedy folks will actually try it and wind up paying more in fees than their GH/s produce.
1605  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: March 25, 2015, 02:08:52 PM
Committing crimes is illegal, but writing books telling how to be a criminal is not. Closing down these sites is the job of thought police.

Valid point, such discussion is normally protected under freedom of speech laws. Although it is sad such freedoms are eroding, and certain members of the population seem to think this is a good thing. All in the name of "security".
1606  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] (Beta) PaidBooks.com - Get Paid to Read Books on: March 25, 2015, 02:05:37 PM
you should add the bookmark function of each book, the reader may not always remember the number of pages they have read

I always leave my page open or note the url, but I agree a bookmark function would be a nice addition. You inspired me to code up an add-on for greasemonkey xD.
1607  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-24-2015] CEX.IO Tightens Security And Removes Trading Fees For One Week on: March 24, 2015, 11:31:43 PM
I like the platform itself, but yeah there is relatively little volume there, especially since the cloud mining scheme has dried up.

Will be interesting to see what "new features" they have in store though. One thing I can say is that their site has been reliable up to this point.
1608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitMiles (BTMi) Launched - First Cryptogenic Frequent-Flyer Miles on: March 24, 2015, 09:22:17 PM
If you guys are waiting on "br0ken" to come back, then you have a long wait. This "developer" was simply an opportunist from a 3rd world country looking to make a few quick dollars from people that want to get on the next big crypto train.

If there are people that actually believe this has a future, then announce you wish to hire a real dev and hopefully move forward. Honestly I don't see where a separate currency for frequent flier miles is necessary, when a coloured coin or NXT asset would work just fine.

Is ducky an alt of notlambchop? Smiley

The FBI will see this as a threat.  ------ Just got  a call back and hes glad I reported it.  Good news for us who worry about security.

What sort of security is that?

Terrorist can use it to send messages

Any self-respecting terrorist knows not to communicate over the internet. How did Bin Laden manage to hide from the US for so long?

Let's try not to derail the thread with your wacko terrorist fantasies Wink
I'm looking forward to using OpenBazaar in a completely legitimate way.

True. I look forward to this because possibilities are endless for even LEGIT merchants.

WOW! Terrorists will never use platforms like twitter, gmail, and crappy copies of SMF to communicate. You may save us all from death and destruction yet.

1/10th of a penny per hour, while entering 60 captchas?

After 1,000 hours of reading (and 60,000 captchas), you will have $1.  I think you will need to spend more than that just to keep breathing...

Good concept, but not anywhere near reality yet.

Well I agree it does have kinks and low payout it seems like something that might actually have a purpose. God knows we have enough crappy faucets and idiotic ponzi games out there. In time we can hope payout increases if there is higher interest.

Which I couldn't help but translate as:

1613  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: March 24, 2015, 04:37:44 PM
open bazzar will become another dark market site, and will be destroyed by govs, this is a waste of time and money.  This site shouldnt be released, cause its to much of a political statment.  The can make this site illegal, and you will def not have privacy.

How does a government shutdown an open source project? Have the combined efforts of the most powerful governments been able to shutdown decentralized organizations like :

https://defdist.org
https://wikileaks.org
https://thepiratebay.se

? Most governments hate the organizations above and have spent 100s of millions attempting to shut them down. How is that working for them?

I will personally be setting up shop with the express purpose of selling as many legal items as possible under OpenBazaar when it comes out of the Beta we are testing. I will make sure that many some of these legal products support charities and non profits. Any attack on OpenBazaar will be attacking donation streams going to legitimate charities. OpenBazaar will become understood as a neutral marketplace and repercussions will occur if anyone attacks it.

also one more thing, They willl all work together to take your bitcoins, stop doing things in the dark and let them know this is a bad idea.  Dont play this on a political term, also im sure the owner who is making this site will be arrested for making a site, just for making it.  how will the protect themselves legally?

You don't get it do you? This is a decentralized open source project. Unlike the silk road the developers aren't making profits from it, aren't marketing it as a drug site,  and don't control it. Your naive statements are akin to suggesting Bitcoin can be shutdown if everyone in the bitcoin foundation is arrested.

Agreed inBitwetrust. Combined efforts have done nothing to stop torrrents, in fact p2p filesharing flourishes. This market concept can have nothing but a positive effect overall. Sure some people will sell things that are illegal in certain jurisdictions. It is a game of whack-a-mole however, as soon as one site is removed new technologies and sites replace it. Supply and demand.

Source code will be nice Smiley

Thanks

I came to this thread after seeing it posted as a scam on reddit. Several times users have asked if there is source code available, and the issue is sidestepped every time. A little digging is probably on order on this "news".

You can bet I'll be watching this one, if for nothing but pure entertainment value.
1615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium In-House Exchange on: March 24, 2015, 02:36:09 PM
Seems to be coming along quite nicely. Smiley

And don't worry about the learning curve for irc, IMZ. I hope to have a little contribution to make that easier along towards Friday. Pace is picking up for me here.
1616  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] (Beta) PaidBooks.com - Get Paid to Read Books on: March 24, 2015, 02:29:03 PM
PM'd you about data entry and am glad to do anything to support this project. Surely not everyone will "get it" when it comes to this, others will likely just leave a page open for a few satoshi. After I read the Bitcoin whitepaper and saw a balance in my top screen it made sense to me how this platform could be used for many things. I am sure the surface is just beginning to be scratched.
1617  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Bitcoin Exchange. BTC/USD, BTC/EUR. Official page*** on: March 24, 2015, 02:22:57 PM
Would be nice if cex could make some deals on hardware and equipment providers in order to reduce their "maintenance costs".

Would be nice indeed. This is exactly what we are working on.

I am perhaps anxious to begin good trading again. I still buy decent hardware when I can get it cheap, and still mine on ghash. But when the cloud mining is underway it is unbeatable as a trade platform.

Maybe I should hire a CFO from a liberal arts college in the Ukraine to manage my site.
1619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium In-House Exchange on: March 23, 2015, 02:42:22 PM
@ Siameze:

the bullion thing will come into focus. Different coins attract different communities. Unobtanium -- a 'serious' coin [ http://coinwarp.net/altcoins/unobtanium-0-inflation-cryptocurrency ] -- has attracted serious coiners; and there was this sort of 'Aha! moment' when we realised just how many of us hold bullion.

The silver thing is a practicality. IndiaMikeZulu did a bunch of research, and it seemed to us (here in Western Australia [Perth Mint]) that 10-oz bars of silver were simply the most economical product. (I look forward to learning more about bullion from you as we go.)

Since then, a number of our projects have become connected through The Bullion Thang. For example, 'national chapters': it makes sense that some aspects of crypto-coining happen on a national basis ('currency zone,' whatever): postage costs, postage risks, legalities, etc. We Austtralians, for example, have tapped into a source of silver via a Un-Ex member.

We are developing 'P-WIPping,' which enables people who know and trust each other to trade coin by using Internet-banking transfers. ['Peer-to-peer; Website, Internet-banking, Phone']

Finally, we are avid theorists, with a particular interest in the relations between the community and the crypto. This resulted in Distributed-Vault Coin, a coin that is traded only on Un-Ex.

Mark

I am researching the DVC more and would like to chat you guys up in irc. I found an Unobtanium channel on freenode, but it was pretty dead. I live on the other side of the pond, but can be flexible with hours @IMZ if I can catch you in there. Wink
1620  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] (Beta) PaidBooks.com - Get Paid to Read Books on: March 23, 2015, 01:36:19 PM
I have nothing bad to say about this, seriously. I read a couple of books on the list. Most are what I would normally like anyway since I enjoy classics and ESPECIALLY love Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sure the payout is low but I am happy to be testing it and getting a small reward for something I'd probably be doing anyway.

I hope to see an increased selection of books if this takes off. Definitely one of the better webpages with incentives. Having a section for fledgling authors to upload their work and possibly get it seen is a great idea too.

10/10 bitcoinaliens. I will report back if I have any issues.
