Other / Off-topic / BFL Trade-Up Program - I have seen the light !
|
on: June 20, 2012, 01:56:04 AM
|
All sarcasm aside, BFL have made many current customer's dreams....a NIGHTMARE.You can trade a regular Single in towards the purchase of an SC Single, but you can't trade in two regular singles to get an SC Single. I know people would rather do that, but it's not a working business model.
AND THERE WE HAVE IT..... So, what this means is, all of you mini-rig owners and multiple mini-rig owners, be prepared to pay an additional $15,000 for each upgrade unless you want your 25 GH rig to become a door stop once ASICs fully penetrate the market and leave you in the dust. I am now done. Argue, fight...fuck, I really don't care, because I LOST NOTHING....( and am laughing , as you can't see my face, so you will have to take my word for it) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, I want to apologize to everyone who pointed out and said I was wrong, in regards to my previous SPECULATION(S).... I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT and it all makes sense now.SO..Get your BFL Orders in SOON ! ....while there is still product to be shipped. http://www.butterflylabs.com/products/With BFL's 100% Trade-up Value Program, you have nothing to lose, but only gain.http://www.butterflylabs.com/bitforce-sc-faq/For those wondering, "What will I be able to do with my current BFL hardware ?", here it is.... just a few examples:- Trade 1 old BFL Single for 4 new Jalapenos ($600 vs $600, 850 MH vs. 9 10.5 GH !) - Trade 2 old BFL Singles in for 1 new ASIC Single and pay only $100 difference ! ($1,200 vs. $1,300, 1.7 GH vs 40 GH !) - Trade 11 old BFL Singles in for 5 new ASIC Singles + 1 Jalapeno AND Pay only $50 difference ($6,600 vs. $6,650, 9.4 GH vs. 203.5 GH !) - Trade 50 Old BFL Singles for 1 new ASIC Mini-Rig ($30,000 vs $30,000, 43 GH vs. 1TH !) - Trade 2 old BFL Mini Rigs for 1 new ASIC Mini-Rig ($30,000 vs $30,000, 50 GH vs. 1TH !) ...but what am I telling people something they can figure out for themselves. You all know what the deal is, right ? The TRADE possibilities would be ENDLESS ! - With little or NO MONEY involved !Show your support for the company that strives to support YOU ! YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE. I personally can't wait for this Trade-Up program to commense... IT WILL BE LIKE Christmas when it does (and I mean the FEELING, NOT the time of year). Cheers, bitlane. PS> I am not affiliated with Butterfly Labs in any way. I am just providing this info, because I CARE. For anyone who missed the day's events, please understand that this post is 7,000% PURE SARCASM...(yes, Seven Thousand Percent)

Many thanks for all the support, just a couple of important clarifications. This project started as an answer to another project claiming it will takeover the whole mining ecosystem, with ASIC devices that would not be available for purchasing by other miners. It is also an answer to some vendors shady business practices.
It will be nice to see a group/organization knock Vladimiar and BFL down a few pegs..... not mentioning any names of course THIS is the TRUE Spirit of the Bitcoin Project - OPENasic You guys are an inspiration to us all. I am happy to see this project.

Assuming 1:1
Why wouldn't it be possible ? Who said anything about 1:1 ? I am SURE they are a stand-up company who just want to make customers happy. It will be awesome to take 50 BFL Singles and trade them straight across for a new ASIC Mini-Rig once released... With a 100% hardware trade-in-value guarantee, who has anything to be worried about ?The TRADE possibilities would be ENDLESS ! - With NO MONEY involved ! (and sometimes MONEY BACK !) Trade 50 Old BFL Singles for 1 new ASIC Mini-Rig ($30,000 vs $30,000, 43 GH vs. 1TH !) Trade 2 old BFL Mini Rigs for 1 new ASIC Mini-Rig ($30,000 vs $30,000, 50 GH vs. 1TH !) Trade 1 old BFL Single for 4 new Jalapenos ($600 vs $600, 850 MH vs. 9 10.5 GH !) Trade 11 old BFL Singles in for 5 new ASIC Singles AND GET MONEY ($100) BACK ! ($6,600 vs. $6,500, 9.4 GH vs. 200 GH !) Trade 1 old BFL Mini-Rig in for 10 x ASIC Singles + 10 Jalapenos and get $500 BACK ! ($15,000 vs. $14,500, 25 GH vs. 435 GH !) ...and SO ON.... This is a company that CARES about it's customers. Why would anyone think differently ? The Trade-Up program is the best thing that any company has been able to offer on this forum yet.BFL makes every other company look like amateurs... Good on ya, BFL !

I am about to order the 25GH/s mini rig ..
You should order 2 of them, that way you can send them both back and trade them straight across for a NEW ASIC Mini-Rig once they are released. Spend $30,000 NOW, mine @ 50 GH/s.....then in October, you can send them both back and BFL will send you 1 brand new $30,000 ASIC Mini-Rig that will hash @ 1 TH/s. Remember, they are offering a 100% value towards new equipment, using current generation BFL gear. Take advantage of it while you can. Win-Win for everyone ! Why wait ? just spend the $30k NOW and guarantee your place in line when the ASIC Rigs are released.

This led to FPGA slowly killing off GPU and now ASIC slowly killing off everything else.
I would venture a 'guess' and say that GPUs still make up atleast 70+% of the current 11.x TH Network, so nothing has been 'killed off' as of yet. FPGA market penetration has not been that great, considering the delivery times for most. Also, ASIC will not SLOWLY kill off everything else - it will kill it off decisively and quickly....LOL

Here's how I think the 'Last Nail in the Coffin' will play out... The Jalapeno will be sold outright, new purchases ONLY. The Bitforce Singles (current) will ONLY be accepted for 'Trade-Up' against the purchase of a $1300 SC Singles (they get another $700 out of you).... The Mini Rigs will ONLY be accepted for 'Trade-Up' against the purchase of a $30,000 SC Mini-Rig (yes, they will get another $15,000 out of you).
..AND I believe this will ONLY be a 1:1 trade-up Ratio. So, no trading in 2x current Bitforce Mini-Rigs for a single ASIC Mini-Rig etc..... THEY WANT MORE OF YOUR MONEY and have put you in a LOSE/LOSE POSITION....
It would definitely be tough for current customers to trade up if they have sunk all of their cash into current technology. If bitlane's prediction is anywhere close to true, some will be stuck and the trade in program will not be helpful in those cases. Giga, I stand by what I posted here to you.... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=75802.msg972804#msg972804That was NOT a Troll. It was genuine.

gigavps is easily one of the, if not THE most trusted (maybe not liked, but trusted none the less) users on this forum and to take a shot at him like that is low.
I do however feel that with recent events, people might be getting in too deep over their heads with Butterfly Labs and the shitstorm they have unleashed on the community as of late.
giga, I might not be your biggest fan, but I respect what you do. All I ask is that you be careful and consider the endgame with BFL.

BFL WILL NOT 'TRADE-UP' WITHOUT ADDITIONAL MONEY.....you are missing the point.
They have everyone, HOOK, LINE and SINKER.
Everyone that bought a Mini-Rig will be in SERIOUS trouble and will need to come up with an additional $15,000 per Mini-Rig to protect their investment once ASICs hit.
I feel sorry for those deep pocketed people....I can think of so much more to do with THAT amount of money.

Let's use gigavps as an example.... To all gigaminers:
There has been a lot of news / discussion in recent days regarding new equipment coming out from Butterfly Labs. I have confirmed with BFL that this information is indeed correct and have submitted an order for 4 more mini rigs. This will bring gigamining up to a total of 8 mini rigs (204Gh/s), 14 BFL Singles (12Gh/s) and around 90 GPUs (36Gh/s).
He will be holding a total of 8 Mini-Rigs and 14 Bitforce Singles. Do you have any idea what HIS 'Trade-Up' costs will be @ 1:1 'Trade-up' Ratio ?8 Mini-Rigs ($15,000) to 8 SC Mini-Rigs ($30,000) = $15,000 each (upgrade cost) = $120,000 USD14 Singles ($600) to 14 SC Singles ($1300) = $700 each (upgrade cost) = $9,800 USDSo, unless gigavps just gives up and quits when ASICS come out, as his current hardware will be next to useless.... HE WILL NEED TO COME UP WITH NEARLY $130,000 USD (One Hundred Thirty Thousand Dollars) just to become competitive again. FUCK ME !

I'd be willing to trade up my 10 BFL Singles for 5 BFL SC Singles, and go from 8gh to 200gh. I don't see what the problem would be.
*shrug*
NOT gonna happen. I can almost bet. How can they offer that ? THEY NEED MORE OF YOUR MONEY ! It will be a 1:1 Trade-Up Ratio. Your current 10 Singles will be eligible to trade up against 10 new SC Singles + approx $7,000 USD ($700 x 10). So start saving up.

I do think it's silly to make the sort of assumptions that you've made, with regards to how the trade in program will work when you really have no idea how the trade in program will work, but you're certainly allowed to speculate however you like. Without a clear and concise Program plan straight from 'the horse's mouth' what other alternatives are there, other than speculation ? Here's how I speculated...I thought as cheap and underhanded as I possibly could (like a drug dealer) ...and came up with the post(s) above and the program 1:1 ratio etc. Would it wrong to assume that judging by their track record of payment vs delivery and communication/hype/FUD, that I can't be all that far off ? if not 100% DEAD ON ? It's up to THEM to clarify....or perhaps now, reconsider
