less wait time and more BFL ASICs for me then!

There's nothing wrong with that. As long as you are not buying these under any illusions of 'a deal' and are thinking clearly.
They are not doing YOU any favors. You are doing it all for them.....

Their sale's pitch has sucked in more than a few, who haven't thought this through entirely.
1102  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL ASIC Announcement - Truth or Troll ? - The LONG CON just got longer on: June 18, 2012, 08:11:33 PM
Too many people are jumping right into BFL's arms, BLINDLY.

Not enough questions are being asked and not enough answered.

The Trade-Up program is going to create a HUGE shit storm in the end, because people just don't realize that once they buy a BFL unit with future hopes of this 'Upgrade' that they are basically signing up to be a 'BFL Bitch' for the long run....
1103  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL ASIC Announcement - Truth or Troll ? on: June 18, 2012, 07:50:43 PM
I can't wait for BFL to release all of their Rules and Regulations...ie...the FINE PRINT, in regards to their 'Trade Up Program' when all is said and done.

Sure, you might be getting 100% of your Single or Mini-Rig's value credited towards ASIC hardware, but if for 1 second you believe that BFL won't be using this as a way to get MORE money out of you....then you have another thing coming.

What do I mean ?

Well, let's lay out the hardware first...

Current Gen:
- Bitforce Single, 840 MH/s @ 599 USD
- Bitforce Mini-Rig, 25 GH/s @ $15,000 USD

Next Gen:
- BitForce SC Jalapeno: a USB powered coffee warmer providing 3.5 GH/s, priced at under $149
- BitForce SC Single: a standalone unit providing roughly 40 GH/s, priced at $1,299
- BitForce SC Mini Rig: a case & rack mount server providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899

For those miners that might not want to make the jump into a $30,000 ASIC Mini-RIG, that are currently Bitforce Mini-Rig Owners...and simply want a small increase in performance....GOOD LUCK
.
Since reading the BFL Press Release, if you think it will be as easy as trading your current Bitforce Mini-Rig @ $15,000 straight across for, say, 11x SC ASIC Singles and a couple of Jalapenos to make up the difference in price, or that your current Bitforce Single will be able to be traded 'UP' to a small handful of ASIC Jalapenos straight across, or enough to make up your 'price credit'...... - THINK AGAIN.

Here's how I think the 'Last Nail in the Coffin' will play out...
The Jalapeno will be sold outright, new purchases ONLY.
The Bitforce Singles (current) will ONLY be accepted for 'Trade-Up' against the purchase of a $1300 SC Singles (they get another $700 out of you)....
The Mini Rigs will ONLY be accepted for 'Trade-Up' against the purchase of a $30,000 SC Mini-Rig (yes, they will get another $15,000 out of you).

..AND I believe this will ONLY be a 1:1 trade-up Ratio. So, no trading in 2x current Bitforce Mini-Rigs for a single ASIC Mini-Rig etc..... THEY WANT MORE OF YOUR MONEY and have put you in a LOSE/LOSE POSITION....

I wish everyone the best of luck with the 'Trade-Up' Program....YOU WILL NEED IT....ALONG WITH MUCH DEEPER POCKETS.

Looks like the 'Long Con' can play out a number of ways.....BFL just guaranteed themselves a steady income stream for the next 2+ years and no one can do anything about it. Either keep your current BFL hardware when it's slow and useless OR BE FORCED TO SPEND MORE (not given a choice) BEING FORCED to continue paying them...

Good Luck to everyone.
1104  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Labs ASIC release date - no earlier than February 2013 on: June 18, 2012, 06:03:52 PM
I just got a call from BFL. They said that the whole ASIC is pure BS. ****y said that whole announcement was to scare competitors and get all the money from miners. I also asked whether they are going to run with the money or someday develop an ASIC. Didn't get a proper answer. Something about Tahiti.. maybe he meant 7970s?

I can confirm that. I just got off the phone with them and got a similar response....
1105  Other / Off-topic / BFL ASIC Announcement - Truth or Troll ? - The LONG CON just got longer on: June 18, 2012, 05:35:38 PM
It's become quite obvious that lately, BFL's 'Heat' has been taken away by Enterpoint, a REAL FPGA & ASIC Manufacturer.

This can be seen as of late in how BFL have resorted to public Trolling.

I personally believe that BFL's recent 'Press Release' was nothing more than FUD to scare the community away from competing FPGAs and boost their own sales with a combination of that same FUD and their 'Trade-Up' program.
No timeline, not even an update on their own site.

It was also demonstrated by another forum member that a Yahoo Press Release isn't THAT difficult to get up on the web, with little or NO facts backing it up.

What do you think ?

(ps. Yes, I am a TROLL for starting this POLL....lol)

Timeline will be available as soon as we start taking preorders. And I must say that it will come out at least 3 months earlier
than what most people have estimated. Hope that helps.

Regards,
BF Labs Inc.

Preorders...GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. Why can't you guys just get your shit together already ?

As far as coming out 3 months earlier than people think, how about taking less than 3 months to deliver ?

How about taking orders WITHOUT FULL PAYMENT UP FRONT and show what your company is made of ?
1107  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: LargeCoin Pricing Announced; Taking Pre-Orders on: June 18, 2012, 04:14:59 PM

PRICING AND DEPOSIT DETAILS

The C200 IMU is priced at USD $30,000. We are selling 25 units initially, with more to come later in 2012. To secure your place in the line, you must make a $4,500 deposit, which will be held in escrow by a third party until product delivery. You and LargeCoin will sign an escrow agreement to this effect before any money is transferred. The deposit will be returned to you if product delivery does not take place by July 31, 2012.

==============================================

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The LargeCoin C200 is the world's first purpose-built Bitcoin mining appliance. Designed to fit within a standard 1U of rack space, the C200 connects to the network using Ethernet, and starts mining as soon as it's plugged in to the wall. Mining is controlled via an online control panel hosted by LargeCoin, which allows you to direct mining shares to the pool of your choice and manage your entire LargeCoin cluster in one convenient place. Each C200 mines at 20GHash/s, consuming a mere 100W. Designed for high density operation, the C200 provides efficient movement of air and is suitable for operating in a fully loaded 42U rack (up to 40 units per rack).

20 GH/s for $30,000 (although some $15,000 pre-orders were taken ?)

Just thought I would BUMP this with BFL's new Press Release recently and compare...

Quote
1)    BitForce SC Jalapeno: a USB powered coffee warmer providing 3.5 GH/s, priced at under $149
2)    BitForce SC Single: a standalone unit providing roughly 40 GH/s, priced at $1,299
3)    BitForce SC Mini Rig: a case & rack mount server providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899

Even @ $15,000, using BFL's pricing, that would essentially buy someone approx 440 GH/s (11 BFL $1300 Units)....a far cry from 20 GH/s.

Now, I don't know shit about ASICs, but it's clear that with the 2 companies in question above (Butterfly Labs and LargeCoin) 1 of 2 possibilities MUST be correct:

1) Someone is COMPLTELY FULL OF SHIT in regards to performance/pricing (BFL).
2) Someone got a little TOO GREEDY and will end up missing the boat....(LC)

Which is true ? (or both true to a certain extent?)

Thoughts ?

... we have received many orders. We're quickly eating up the first 25, so please fill in the order form soon if you don't want to miss out. In the spirit of openness, we are already at 31 orders and counting, but it's assumed that some people won't fill out the deposit so please do get your order in.

JESUS H CHRIST !

31 Orders = 31 PISSED OFF PEOPLE if BFL can actually come through before 2014......
1108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: selling 10 ICArus boards 4th batch on: June 18, 2012, 02:55:52 PM
If cant sell this wonderful plug and play rig I'll mine until the last profitable share. Not worried at all Cheesy Thanks.

Wouldn't you rather sell it cheaper NOW just to get rid of it, in case ASICs were a bit closer than we all think ?
I realize it would mean a larger-than-desired loss, but look at what might end up happening if BFL releases their ASICs before the end of the year.

If FPGAs take upwards of 12+ Months to break even and they are worthless in 6-8, what incentive is there for anyone to buy them  ?
....not trying to crap on your thread, because BELIEVE ME, I am about 5 seconds away from buying the lot from you....but I am just worried, like everyone else.

1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Public Plea to Bitcoin Developers and Supporters alike on: June 18, 2012, 02:44:26 PM
Community as a whole is doing just fine. It is just some guys who ignored the warnings and spent too much on their brand spanking new FPGA's are begging for special treatment now. Well, tough titty, your pleas will fall on deaf ears.

WTF are you taking about retard ? I DON'T OWN FPGAs.... I own GPUs and have NO problem with them. I will also own ASICs and will have no problem spending the additional money, but when the biggest BFL proponents are left speechless after this latest 'Press Release' what should the rest of the community take away from that ?
...fucking idiot.
1110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Public Plea to Bitcoin Developers and Supporters alike on: June 18, 2012, 02:38:27 PM
So everyone is onboard for BFL's ASIC release ?

...then THAT solves that.

If the 'Fun' gets taken out of Bitcoin Mining for pure profit and who can crack 10 TH....then count me in.

I just believe that this will become a very lonely place with nothing but big spenders doing all of the mining.
1111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Public Plea to Bitcoin Developers and Supporters alike on: June 18, 2012, 02:33:52 PM
First off, don't get me wrong. If ASICs are going to come in at the prices that BFL posted, you can bet that I will be running 1TH myself...

It's not cheap-ass sour grapes on my part. I have the cash to play...but what about the community as a whole ?

As I said....SPIRIT KILLING...the Spirit of Bitcoin.
1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Public Plea to Bitcoin Developers and Supporters alike on: June 18, 2012, 02:30:11 PM
Strange when you built your 11 GH/s of rigs that fact didn't scare you.

It's not the same. I am running 4 rigs that use off the shelf multi-purpose desktop hardware, available to anyone....not quite the same as BFL's ASICs.

Even if I were to use FPGAs, the speeds have slowly been climbing at a REASONABLE RATE that the Bitcoin infrastructure can manage. 40 GH for $1300 ?. Everyone will suddenly be a 1TH miner using specialized equipment and those who want to 'play' using their desktop hardware won't be able to.

'Spirit' killing....
1113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A Public Plea to Bitcoin Developers and Supporters alike on: June 18, 2012, 02:20:03 PM
In the aftermath of the recent Butterfly Labs announcement in regards to their 'Endgame' performing ASICs, I humbly ask all Bitcoin Developers and Supporters to take a step back and think about the future of Bitcoin.

In the first day, the Butterfly Labs ASIC announcement has literally KILLED the marketplace and future development of mining devices that have brought us to where we are today.

There has been a large enough shadow of uncertainty cast upon this community to cause more than a few SOLID and well known Securities on the GLBSE to literally CRASH in terms of price, leaving even those proponents of BFL in trouble, caused by none other than BFL.

Let me put this into terms that many of you can easily relate to...
Butterfly Labs wants to be Microsoft. By PREMATURELY releasing nothing more than FUD, they have taken away all incentive for anyone else to compete in the hardware market and would essentially be taking mining out of reach for every-day miners, using nothing more than their GPUs part time.

I think this KILLS THE TRUE SPIRIT OF BITCOIN and everything that it was intended to stand for.
I have a hard time believing that this is the type of growth (on any scale, or in any corner of the Bitcoin ecosystem) that Satoshi had in mind.

My PLEA is as follows...

Developers, please consider periodic DRAMATIC algorithm changes that would keep a single entity from being able to control any portion of the Bitcoin Ecosystem, whether it be hardware, software or anything that might force users out, while only allowing a chosen few to participate in mining.

If the above is not considered, then Bitcoin might as well be renamed Butterfly Labs Coin in the near future, if their ASICs truly do come to life.

I am a small time miner. I only maintain approx 11 GH/s.
I am NOT a hardware or software developer. I have NO 'iron in the fire' (so to speak) but I can clearly see a possible path that will surely be forced to travel for everyone, in time, if this is not addressed.

Windows and Linux..... Just remember that.

1)    BitForce SC Jalapeno: a USB powered coffee warmer providing 3.5 GH/s, priced at under $149
2)    BitForce SC Single: a standalone unit providing roughly 40 GH/s, priced at $1,299
3)    BitForce SC Mini Rig: a case & rack mount server providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899
$150 for 3.5 GH/s ? .......this will surely be the downfall of Bitcoin as we know it.

Love me or hate me,

You should embed a remixed video by him promoting the app with plenty of under-face, bad angle low quality self-promotion.

I went ahead and downloaded ALL of his greatest hits ages ago, before he tried to remove some of them....

The REMIX will show up eventually Wink

It's come time to part with my 'baby'...  http://deathbylollipop.biz/

This project has become very near and dear to my heart, but as with everything, I think it's time to hand the reigns over to someone else.

Feel free to post comments or make offers here.

Thanks for looking,

My present work is push it better than 1$/MH/S, and less than 25W.
By present test, running the V3 old bitsteam, Lancelot only consume 15.6W

I think I love you.

Please tell me when/where to send money.....lol

BFL *did* say at some point that they'd do trade-ins of singles for ASICs, right? Any details on how exactly that will work?

Of course not, but I really hope we get priority over formal orders

I am sure you will, but not only will you be required to have to pay up front for 10+ week (month?) delivery times, but will have to send your Single in right away as well, so that BFL can use it to mine on for the 10 + weeks that it takes to deliver your ASIC...
