781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 17, 2015, 11:08:59 PM
now maybe i'm behind in all the goings on here, but is there a decision and breakdown of said decision on what the remaining coins are earmarked for?

i did see something on the nem forum, but yeah seemed unrealistic figures for such small time things as android wallets etc, so i guessed it wasn't a set in stone breakdown? ie why be in such a hurry to get rid of coins on projects and thus massively devalue xem?

This is the blog you are looking for to get you up to date. http://blog.nem.io/update-sustainability-fund-final-redemption-numbers/

We spent a lot of time trying to be very careful and transparent as possible as we planned this. There are links for the accounts that go to the block explorer.  The main account that has been spent from is the mobile/NCC fund of which more than half is left, and we have almost finished paying for the apps so the good news is our budget worked out fine and will be able to continue to support development after the apps are released.

On that note. A new iOS version was released today. Testing is going well.  It is now more about working out the last bugs and getting the final tweaks in at this point. It's been a long 9 months. Much longer than we first thought.

yes i've seen the breakdown, very surprising, the amounts given for each venture  Shocked  in my thinking significantly devalues the currency (not that giving it away, and much of that being gamed already didn't).

and why the hurry? like a global supply of currency should at minimum be kept funding the projects for a decade +.....if the goal is a usable global currency, and i would have thought the reason why there is so many billions of XEM is for that purpose?

i mean 329,599,242.98 XEM simply for a mobile app  Huh

also is the funds in each category going into the various developers pockets? so therefore simply to be dumped on the market in order to receive remuneration?

Jesus that greatly devalues xem. Not to mention yes it will be dumped and absolutely destroy the price.

Lets say they could sell it all at current price that would be $37000 for a mobile app? Absolutely rediculous. Xem is over this is the nail in the coffin.

Just shows that you have no idea how much something like that costs. I've seen WAY MORE expensive apps. It sounds a lot but it really isn't all that much. It should have been out months ago but that's about all the criticism one can have right now. The price is absolutely sensible.

Also the market situation is always being considered when XEM are sold. Noone is going to dump huge amounts to pay for somehing.

mines no troll it was a genuine response not based at all on any fiat price but based around the cost in terms of the entire supply of XEM, paying that much of the total supply of what is designed to be a global currency is a serious concern., and does undermine XEM potential as a global currency (just as any insta/premine for development does in normal pow coins)

How about the withholding of funds of clients who don't ever deal in fiat?

The so called "verification" is another excuse to steal your money (others like poloniex isn't "cracking" down).

That was required by law no way around verification, AML and KYC. Polo will have to do it as well they just don't do FIAT so they are in a bit better shape. Really only BTC-e can avoid it for now.

I'm also will to venture the margin trading is going to cause them problems with the CFTC.

783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: WE NEED A NEW DEV TO JOIN OUR TEAM on: November 17, 2015, 12:06:38 PM
I am looking for a DEV with a proven track record, somebody who has managed a successful coin before. I do not want newbies, because I am tired of all the scams running around. SCAMS are ruining the cryptocoin business.

Looking for a non-scammer to work on a scam coin. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
I am looking for a non-scammer to work on an HONEST COIN that has traded fairly.

really there's such a thing in these parts  Huh

come on if you are going to offer "handsome reward" well that almost makes it the definition of a scam cryptocoin ie a coin created to make the devs $$$$$.

785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BTCS][CRYPTOVOTER LAUNCH] Bitcoin-sCrypt | in techcrunch on: November 17, 2015, 08:22:19 AM
the only reason i support a name change is because I don't think it should remain scrypt algo, kinda hard to vote on things when so many are dependent on other outcomes, ie name in my mind is dependent on algo, logo is dependent on name etc

That might explain why he likes wolf0 and his "optimized" mining software/kernels.

HAHA (puff puff) HA Tongue

Btw.. were you around that day when TomSelleck'sStache started freaking out about his hashpower exploit and/or scrypt asic kernel ?

nope missed that one ?
787  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: November 17, 2015, 06:22:52 AM
The second thing is that I worked so very hard in order to come out with an alternative, and because my team and I were doing everything by the book we are unable to secure the proper funding to launch an exchange that is truly legitimate (not to say Crypsty isnt legitimate, but as far back as I was a customer there have been problems). Therefore until we get funding the project is on hold.

We have a fully functional exchange, but we refuse to open up without the proper safeguards in place so customers know that we are not a fly by night exchange.

you're talking a US based, give full ID comply with US law (and I use the term loosely) type exchange? no? now how would that be any meaningful alternative? kinda defeats the whole point of p2p currency.

now you could put all that wasted energy into helping make a p2p exchange  Wink  this space doesn't exactly need a cryptsy 2.0

I'm 51% sure bitcoin will die within the next 5 years.  I'm 80% sure that litecoin will continue to slip into obscurity

there is an element in the crypto community, unfortunately its a large percentage of the most vocal, who are always complaining that someone behind the coin they've thrown fiat at is not making them a huge profit.

one word of advice ITS AN OPEN SOURCE COMMUNITY, if you're not happy with the success of the coin don't blame someone else, don't just blame some self appointed foundation; get off your own butt and do something.

probably take alot less energy to do your part then whinging and trollin on the forum.

summary; ask not what litecoin can do for you, but what you can do for litecoin  Wink

agree with edmundduke, i've seen plenty of game type cryptos come and fade to nothing after promising big things in gaming, the truth is why would any game take on a currency to come out of this community  Huh
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on Cryptonote (XMR, Aeon, BBR)? on: November 08, 2015, 12:40:59 AM

most peoples attitude around here kinda defeats the whole purpose of crypto in the first place, ie whats the point of being an alternative to the greedy bankers if we ourselves become the greedy bankers  Huh

Human greed will not be solved in the near term.  We are wired to seek more and more, but hopefully at least with digital money we will be able to provide equal access to money for all humans.  There will still be the ultra rich, and the greedy, and the money changers.  If you think that's going away, you're naive.  But the very key difference is that a brilliant artist, programmer, mathematician, or writer in Senegal or China can get paid the same money that a brilliant and well connected Harvard Scholar does.  There will be no more artificial barriers to wealth where you have to qualify to even play the game.

Everyone will be invited to participate in a global meritocracy.

kinda missing my point, you'll never get rid of greed thats a given, but p2p currencies can be created to avoid the money changers most definitely., well its actually p2p currencies entire modus operandi.
796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong calls the industry to fork Bitcoin Core on: November 08, 2015, 12:33:12 AM
Coinbase is like a shitty bank. Bitcoin was created to be a free system. These two , are opposite entities.

Coinbase is monitoring your transactions, it's reporting you to Feds and so on...Why would I use Coinbase instead a normal credit card?

+1

the whole idea of p2p currency is to take the money changers out of the equations, making a fulltime living off p2p currency means you're a money changer  Lips sealed

but pretty much all this is lost on the get rich quick crowd that plagues this scene.

I strongly advise you to get out of Litecoin, everything points to an even stronger decline; LTC should consider itself blessed if it's worth $1 by the end of this year.

lol OP October 29, 2015, "Chart looks good. This looks like 2013 all over again. Hoard LTC while you still can; $3 is incredibly cheap."

on October 28, 2015, "I expect at least $10 LTC by year's end."

 Shocked
