1421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 02:35:35 PM

Bitcoin has been battered relentlessly since day one. The technical failures that occurred such as the hard fork and multi billion coin incident occurred while it was still small. Other coins might have similar vulnerabilities that wouldn't be uncovered until they had proper value. No doubt thousands of people have tried to crack it open and have failed.

bitcoin certainly has vulnerabilities to this day and it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to exploit these.
1422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 02:32:30 PM
Bitcoin is just the first honest money on internet. In fact an honest money does not limited to bitcoin, as long as it is produced by inputting similar amount of value as its face value. From this regards, other coins could also have some value as their production cost

Universal acceptance is very important for money, from this regards, bitcoin has magnitudes wider acceptance than altcoins

production cost does not give something value.

why do you consider bitcoin the first honest money on the internet? what makes bitcoin honest?
1423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 01:58:08 PM
Why Bitcoin? Because with all other altcoins you will get Paycoinedtm eventually Tongue

without a doubt i think overwhelmingly most cryptos are the devs quest for more fiat.
1424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 01:48:34 PM
a crypto having a price is meaningless.

what gives bitcoin a price is mostly the greater fool theory http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_fool_theory
1425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 01:45:14 PM
Bitcoins are limited to less than 21 million BTC. The value of each BTC, and therefore the value of all BTC combined is now in the billions.

If there are about 21 million BTC, and each one is worth $200 USD, then the market cap of the entire cryptocurrency is more than 4 billion USD.

why price it in USD? peronally i've never used USD.
1426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 01:43:17 PM
core dev team where so few as 5 completely control the code
OP does not understand how open source projects are developed.

Why bitcoin? That's easy, it's not an inflationary scamcoin like fiat. Nor is bitcoin backed by coercion and violence. No other currency with a 3bil+ market cap in the history of Earth can make that claim.

no its the core devs who don't.

thought bitcoins marketcap was 21 million?

market cap isn't the total numbers of bitcoin, but the toal value of the current coins in circulation

http://coinmarketcap.com/

i was being sarcastic re the irony of pricing bitcoin in USD.

1427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: April 13, 2015, 01:42:11 PM
think most here are missing my main point, i'm saying i'm a fan of alt to fiat p2p currencies, so I'm no saying why btc vs fiat i'm saying why bitcoin v other p2p alternatives.

i've been around this community a few years and i still don't get why anyone would chose bitcoin.

don't get me wrong i believe in an alternative p2p currency, but to me bitcoin certainly doesn't cut it.

about the only answer people have is first mover advantage. but that's pretty much it.

bitcoin seems to, over time, be drifting more into a centralised system, core dev team where so few as 5 completely control the code, backed by what has come to light time and time again a very questionable central organisation.

have VC with their little startups jumping on board left right and center, and we know their goals  Kiss, bitcoin's heading more and more like being the bank product it was meant to be an alternative to  Shocked

seems the only way to back bitcoin is keep your head it the sand and hope it'll all turn out good in the end........

And now the defunct, basically insolvent BTCF wants to increase block size and further squeeze out end users

If you can't see BTC becoming the exact corporate bullshit it was 'made to replace,' then you're an idiot. Deep pockets can easily manipulate greed

add a dose of sidechains to monopolise the whole cryptocurrency scene  Shocked

and you guys where all expecting roses and sunshine when the big boys come out to play  Wink
1432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Making a profit with Litecoin in a sideways market? on: April 12, 2015, 02:25:28 PM
The only thing surprising to me is how LTC has managed to stay at its current levels.

surprises me that you waste so much time thread to thread spreading FUD on litecoin.
1433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of Bitcoin Q1 2015 (by CoinDesk) on: April 12, 2015, 02:18:08 PM
bitcoin was meant to be an alternative to the greedy bankers fiat, now just becoming a new breed of greedy banker bitcoin  Angry

1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LOOKING FOR PUMPER!!! on: April 11, 2015, 11:05:06 PM
Hi everyone, I would like to work with a rich investor to pump our coin to the moon. You tell me exactly what specs and some innovation that you want, I build it, we premine it. You have complete control of what I develop. I am one of the top devs in crypto. PM to talk further.

LOL rich investors don't pump coins  Roll Eyes

if you pump a coin too the moon ya kinda lose ie buy coins of people at a high and get caught with bags, successful crypto traders DUMP  Shocked
1436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Making a profit with Litecoin in a sideways market? on: April 11, 2015, 05:10:33 AM
you've been spoilt by cryptomarkets (compared to the stock market) if you think ltc's market for daytrading purposes is sideways  Wink

but yeah since the overall crypto markets are on a slide, and almost no liquidity in the other alt coins, i increase my litecoin holdings (i don't profit in fiat), by mainly daytrading relatively minor btc/ltc flunctuations.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could 2nd generation coins fail like 4/5th generation programming languages did? on: April 11, 2015, 04:57:15 AM
there isn't any 2nd generation yet, all those that claim to be 2.0 are a step backwards from bitcoin. original code doesn't mean better.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help with dead coin on: April 11, 2015, 02:48:55 AM
a good one that fits into your project would be an old coin called gamecoin (GME), not dead just sleeping don't think anyones running it and its still listed on cryptsy.

just the name seems to suit your project;

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=263600.0

Is cryptsy actually listing coins without a working blockchain?

from what i can gather yes, including ones devs have asked to be delisted  Huh
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: April 11, 2015, 02:26:43 AM
you mean repeating the same dribble ad nauseam. and yes you're all in on goldcoin so you see things very slanted.

hey I'm a large gldcoin holder but i see things clearly ie gldcoin won't get anywhere, crazy premine, block rewards reduced by you in a vain attempt to pump and its only reached its peaks trading wise by random pumpers that themselves had no interest in the coin.

Your adolescent hatred for Goldcoin is well documented on this forum. I guess attempting to trash GLD is the best you can do regardless of the thread topic.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=353010.0

I agree with Microguy, sorry kelsey, but I dont agree with people who think that such and such coin is 'righteous' while they go around trash talking about other coins being 'not righteous'.
I know they don't use the word 'righteous' but read between the lines, that is what they are implying.

As if a bunch of miners mining a coin is somehow 'righteous', I don't see it that way, no matter what.
( the word 'mining' is made up, I think, it isn't really mining, but they are finding newly minted money,
I would say they are like money printers more than 'miners' or the miners are part of the making of money process, but hardly 'miners'. I do not agree with that)

Sorry, but all unrighteous, not one righteous.

Bitcoin is what you would call a premine, and if you don't like that kind of coin, then why are you chasing after bitcoins, because this is a bitcoin forum, and we do not give a sh about that with bitcoin,
and I don't give a sh about that with goldcoin either, or any other coin either.

But I really hate the the posts that trash talk about that, when they don't seem to realize that bitcoin is a premine, and they are involved with bitcoin obviously.

The so-called 'righteous' coins of the 'no premine' theory or philosophy,
also exclude non-miners from getting in on the coin at all early on,
except to maybe buy the coin from miners at extremely inflated prices
while all the righteous miners go around pumping like crazy without warning any of the non-mining traders
that the prices are over-inflated by all the miners.

funny though bitbet i mostly agree with you, personally i am no miner (only ever having mined with a 20khz laptop).

also other then as a trading medium i myself never hold bitcoin nore am I a fan of it.

i've always said the only thing good to come out of cryptos so far is the 'idea'

i'm just in this thread countering fud (i myself have had a go at ltc more then most but base it on reality with no ulterior motive).

just as your attempt to plug your shitcoin in any thread regardless of topic.

difference is I being the largest goldcoin holder i don't really need to trash gldcoin in threads, i can do it on market Wink

hell i was even willing to call a truce with your new client coming out, if it was half decent and pushed forward in a positive way, however your constant trolling of litecoin and supporting this self moderated thread, has rekindled my desire to prevent gldcoin getting anywhere.
