bitcoin had potential til the VC types came along, don't see how anyone would consider vc's as positive.
They build the infrastructure through providing necessary capital, startup expertise, connections, etc. They are accredited investors who are allowed to invest in private companies, unlike most ppl. They also provide confidence in BTC through the very fact that VCs are the ones who make careers out of betting on future technology. They also tend to invest long term instead of dumping for a quick buck. How are they not a positive thing?

as many here may know already irl i'm part owner of a company that raises capital for companies wanting to be listed, in our industry we KNOW vcs across the board are leeches., they are renowned for trying to make the quick buck.

we know most the tec crowd get delusional when vcs come along..

the photos give me the impression the specimen is in pretty darned fine condition

In April/May 2011 (and earlier) this forum was much quieter, and great conversations were easy to find. Those days are gone forever.
I want Biction to succeed "all the way", but that journey will not be easy. The establishment will fight back and the going could get rough.
Hopefully we will be flooded with a new group of honest people who have no intention of setting up more "failed companies".

Do you think the huge wave of venture capital will continue without big setbacks?
Are you "scared" that Bitcoin might actually succeed (and then have serious issues), or are you focused on the bright side?

bitcoin had potential til the VC types came along, don't see how anyone would consider vc's as positive, they are leeches that make bitcoin no better the the bank controls fiat....of course that plays into gov hands so thats where btc is heading anyways.

most people consider btc success vs its price in USD  Embarrassed so as a fiat maker well u'll get the success as a currency success will never come for it.
1606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: March 02, 2015, 11:43:13 PM
What exactly do you mean that one can 'move litecoin around more easily than bitcoin'?

intra exchange trading. send litecoin, then send bitcoin, you'll see, opportunity costs.

Are you claiming here that litecoin has a better core client than does bitcoin? Example, please?

admittedly its my own anecdotal evidence (which is part of why I questioned do those who are pro bitcoin actually use bitcoin)., but yeah many versions of bitcoin have been very unstable on various pc's I own, and the last few clients I've used (not the latest as I gave up a few clients back) have failed to work on my macs.

never had any problems with any litecoin client i've tried.

i only use core clients.

1607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: March 02, 2015, 11:34:04 PM
My 'hate' for litecoin is nothing new. Years ago, I pointed out that the existence of even a single alt devalues a primary use case for driving bitcoin adoption - that of provable levels of currency inflation for crypto. The naysayers have a point that the existance of more than one cryptocurrency devalues the entire concept.

i've been saying for years the only thing good to come out of cryptocurrencies (including bitcoin) todate is the idea.

outside of trading I see little use for any cryptocurrencies. and tradings what currently gives bitcoin its value, so if it wasn't for the alts alot less people would trade bitcoin.

i do half agree (if talking use as a curreny) though with "even a single alt devalues a primary use case for driving bitcoin adoption" especially if that alt works better then bitcoin, but then who likes monopolies.

1608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: March 02, 2015, 01:58:40 PM
i swear most if not all of the bitcoin is the best crowd there is no need for litecoin or other alts, simply must not ever use bitcoin themselves  Huh

i didn't just wake up one morning say hey I missed the btc boat i might go this litecoin, i didn't miss the bitcoin boat, i've just from the start found it a dog of a thing to use.

i started using litecoin because for my main crypto purpose ie trading; litecoin is simply the best crypto to use as your reserve, it has the consistent liquidity over all the other alts, and you can move it around so so much more easily then bitcoin., adding to that from the start with bitcoin there's been many an unusable core client.

litecoins going to be trading with decent liquidity long into the future because us traders are going to keep using it, most the anti litecoin FUD crowd are bitcoin hoarders or simply the 'there can only be one' alt crowd pushing their $20 worth of scamcoin

......so really they have little influence over the market.....despite plaguing the forum mindlessly with their bitcoin is best or litecoins not innovative FUD

1609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized exchanges will never work on: March 01, 2015, 12:15:25 AM
So, every now and then I see a post about the beauty of a decentralized exchange. Well here's the thing. You can't get USD on a Decentralized Exchange, adding new coins to trade will always be a headache, and since there won't be any censorship, scamming with new, random, 2 day old altcoins will be abundant, among other things

Decentralized Exchanges sound good in theory, but in practice it just isn't plausible.

Why do you need to get USD in for a decentralised exchange to work?

I've used and traded cryptos for years yet not once have I ever used USD (I've never even seen any US currency) nor have I traded cryptos for fiat.

The whole point of cryptos is to be an alternative to fiat (but thats lost on most the in cryptos for the fiat crowd).

Good ol' Litecoin Smiley It's widely adopted, but should change from Scrypt to something else if they want to be successful again. ASICs spoil the whole thing.

yes and thats working so well for others that have tried eg feathercoin  Roll Eyes

something about trust you know kinda more important then panic changes to appease the loudest brainless mouths around.

Folks be careful, new account and all 3 posts related to this same exact thing (but for 2 other coins). Treat as highly suspicious!
anyone downloading a client from a non official source (especially from a link posted by a newbie) is a fool.

I don't mean to screw anyone - especially not on a site that links to my real name, GitHub account, and several of my personal projects.

As for things not being official and being wary about it, that's a very good mindset to have and I don't disagree. But if enough people show interest in them, we might get official ARM builds. Cheesy Until then, I'm going to leave these up.

If someone wants to discuss this with a MOD/coin author or point me to someone that I should talk to about this or agrees that my posting unofficial builds is sketchy, please report my post and PM me with whatever information I need.

please don't take it as a personal attack, as an open source community you are free to build and distribute anything you like, just its crypto 101 be careful what you download from unofficial sites (hell even be careful what you download from official coin sites).

Hi, all,

Since I couldn't find any decent armv7 binaries for the Litecoin wallet, I built some of my own from the official source. No changes were necessary, so it was pretty trivial. But if someone is searching for prebuilts, you can grab the latest ones from here: http://starflakenights.net/crypto/wallets.html#ltc .

Hopefully this helps someone else out. I'll keep updating with newer builds as necessary.

1613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs. BTC: Still the top contender? on: February 21, 2015, 06:16:41 AM
LTC it's been let access at low price for adoption purpose. The more people get it the more will be spread no like other coins having a few hundred bag holders, innovation is coming later.
LTC is not forgotten just buy and hold.

Litecoin is not innovative nor will it ever be. Who you trying to fool?

and who you trying to fool with this 'innovation' term? 'innovation' just a word throw around on this forum just to sell the latest scamcoin.

as a currency USD is levels of magnitude more successful then bitcoin, yet how innovative is it?

most average joes can barely get their head around bitcoin let alone these innovative alts that don't really add anything innovative just ad more complications, which makes for less chance of success not greater....but thats lost on most here.

key to making a crypto successful as anything more then a trading token (and thats all all cryptos have been todate including bitcoin), is adoption.

1614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has there ever been another Satoshi type of person? on: February 19, 2015, 12:39:19 PM
I am thinking about a person who made a huge intellectual contribution to humanity but his identity is unknown. Is this a first in history? His contribution is like that of the great scientists (e.g. Louis Pasteur, Edwin Hubble and Avicenna).

what huge intellectual contribution to humanity did satoshi make? is anything in bitcoin a huge intellectual contribution? and even if it was seriously nothing in bitcoin is actually original and its even far from being the first cryptocurrency.
1615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs. BTC: Still the top contender? on: February 17, 2015, 02:13:43 AM
1001 trolls across many threads (many self moderated) saying ltc is dead or dying etc doesn't make it so.

1616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs. BTC: Still the top contender? on: February 17, 2015, 01:42:56 AM
Im not sure why anyone would use LTC anymore at all.
I dont think we will ever see major retailers accepting payment in LTC, so why hold it?

The value has taken such a hit in 2014 and i dont see any reason for it to ever recover.
The handful of holders can focus on trade volume all they want, but at the end of the day...BTC is vastly superior and always will be

not at all, have you seen where crypto are heading ie mainstream (and by that I mean mainstream trading)

biggest hurdle with regulators over the upcoming EFT was bitcoin anon creator, though it may add a cool factor in crypto circles it doesn't sit so well with regulators, and more importantly joe public.

ltc has that over btc in mainstream adoption, the creator is known and thats a bigger thing then u may realise.

ltc may trail btc in retail adoptions but hey retailers arent triping over themselves to add crypto because there's not much to gain, lets be honest you're not going to gain customers by adding any crypto, few if any really use their btc or ltc or any crypto as a currency, most hoard or trade, or swap for fiat asap.

1617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs. BTC: Still the top contender? on: February 17, 2015, 01:36:19 AM
LTCis over now. The price has also dropped to prove the point.

so u r saying bitcoin dead as well?
1618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs. BTC: Still the top contender? on: February 16, 2015, 09:02:06 AM
Is LTC still the main alt-coin contender for BTC?
not any more.
LTC is going to noway.

sure just greater marketcap, greater trading volume then all other alts combined hmmmmm  Kiss

yeah yeah we hear the fud spreaders over and over again on this forum, still doesn't change the reality of it though.

1619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why big companies like amazon don't accept bitcoin? on: February 16, 2015, 08:38:48 AM
because its a waste of their time and effort, people hoard or trade bitecoin but few if any actually use it as a currency.
1620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC vs. BTC: Still the top contender? on: February 16, 2015, 08:36:08 AM
ltc is certainly still the top alt and will remain so, one of the few altcoins thats not created as a scam or to profit the devs. Its not a contender to bitcoin but works with bitcoin ie litecoin being the silver to bitcoins gold.

(won't be long though til the 'innovation' crowd pumping their latest scamcoin plague this thread  Lips sealed)
