1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Surveillance is Accelerating Privacy Tool Development on: September 01, 2016, 08:13:05 PM
Well ya of course it's a must! There needs to be a way to keep your privacy when using Bitcoins in the same sense as with cash no one actually knows who you are! If you're buying Bitcoins then the transactions can always lead back to you!
1942  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 31, 2016, 01:14:49 AM
I've been trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong with my GPU... it's an AMD A6-3420M Radeon(tm) HD Graphics. When I try and do -D 0:0 and/or -D 0:1 it say 'could not open device '0:0', ignoring. It shows my GPU as '1:' so I'm assuming I need to use the command 1:1, right?

I've seen a couple of people who've had to use 1:0 2:0 3:0 to describe their graphics cards.

Your 0:0 might be your CPU, you can squeeze a few extra hashes out of it, but the system slows right down.

I didn't seem to be able to figure out how to use the GPU at all in oclvanitygen. I did -v -D 0:0 -D 0:1 1test, -v -D 0:0 -D 1:0 1test, and a few other variations but they don't work for me. I've found some guides but I really can't figure out what I'm doi wrong. Ikv used my CPU with vanitygen64 with no issues so assumed using the GPU would be basically the same!

Start simple

Code:
oclvanitygen 1Boat

You should get this: (and by this I mean something similar)

Code:
Difficulty: 4476342
Available OpenCL platforms:
0: [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.] AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing
0: [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.] Tahiti
1: [Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.] Tahiti
2: [AuthenticAMD] AMD A4-3300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics

Choosing just the last one I then get

Code:
oclvanitygen -D 0:2 1Boat

You should get something like this:

Code:
Difficulty: 4476342
Compiling kernel, can take minutes...done!
Pattern: 1Boat
Address: 1BoatZkAneV9PsCp6LKenR3rxQXs6mQoiy
Privkey: 5K7aGsmQvymQx12WRQhZ6VZ3EdeLgwJjGANMHmLd92yNwSnsj6F
-snip-

Thanks so much for going through that in depth for me! I finally got it figured out Cheesy this is going to be fun to go through different settings now that I have the basics down!

It's kind of always going on so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I see that duck guy make a new thread every other day about how the price is going to crash hahaha. If you post a reason as to why then people will take it a lot more seriously although there are a lot of perma-bulls around here  Shocked
1945  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 29, 2016, 10:17:26 PM
So when I find an address and it shows the public key and private key in the command prompt, is there a way I can copy and paste the two keys into a notepad file so I dont have to write each character out?

Within Vanitygen right click -> select all + Enter. Go to your document you want it in and paste it. That's how I do it! Ctrl+c won't work by the way Cheesy

1946  Other / Meta / I just Googled Bitcoin and bitcointalk.org was on page 6! on: August 29, 2016, 09:19:33 PM
6! This has got to be one of the biggest sites and definitely the biggest English speaking forum (I can't speak about other languages). How can we increase this? No wonder I didn't hear about this forum for months when I was a bitcoin newbie!
1947  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy crap on a cracker! Another spike ($533USD) ! To the mooooon! on: August 21, 2016, 06:41:49 PM
Bitcoin has shown fantastic recovery healthy after this massive drop. In no time we will be back to 600+, but watch out for a massive ETC pump that will extract some BTC too from the market. No one wants to miss the up and coming ETC rise and potential ETH takeover to reach 0.01+
its been a long week now for this drama i'm glad to see that btc went back and slowly getting to 600$ again it is the etc and eth is showing good ride as of now guys if you have spare btc try to invest with both project just predict the perfect timing. good luck

The price could reach $600 in 10 days. The price could be $700 by the end of September. It might be $900 by year end.

More than 10 days has passed, but the price is still around $580.

I think the price will trade around $580 for the next few weeks.

Super duper. This thread was made in May, so before the halving. Your point isn't coming across because you've read the title out of context. I'm going to lock this thread to prevent any more random necroposts.
1948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The ‘Bitcoin Family’ One Year Later on: August 21, 2016, 06:21:53 PM
Perfect! Teaching the next generation about bitcoin is like teaching them about saving your change when we were growing up. It's going to be the new normal in our households.

'Do your chores Billy! You won't get your 100k Satoshi until they're all done. If you want that app on the iPad you'll need to earn it!'
1949  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin purchase. HELP NEEDED. on: August 21, 2016, 06:10:01 PM
If you're looking for small amounts I would suggest you at least let us know what country you're in. I know a few places where I can get $20 or so in Bitcoins at a hefty premium with no ID. If it's big amounts you really only can go to localbitcoins.
1950  Economy / Reputation / Re: OgNasty: "@Lutpin: Really should kill himself." on: August 21, 2016, 05:29:21 PM
I think Quickseller really should kill himself.

I know how to solve the negative feedback issue. Whoever left retaliation feedback, change the feedback to neutral. Whoever is left with a negative feedback on their profile is the one who got negged first.

Ok go!
1951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: "A Solution Looking for a Problem" on: August 21, 2016, 02:21:55 PM
I was talking to someone about bitcoin one day and asked, 'why don't you have any?'
Because he belongs to the majority of people that only do things that are acceptable by the conformity and is too scared to try something new.

He said: 'All I hear are bad things - hacks, thefts...'
Can't actually argue with that. The social media has introduced bitcoin to people as something that is used in the "Deepweb" and the deepweb is something that you don't wanna explore. And because of that, all the positive things that you can get from using bitcoin is now shadowed by the negative and scary thing.

That person you're talking to is just a commoner in terms of IQ level. He's like all the other person that I've talked to about bitcoin that can never be able to adjust their perspective/PoV about a certain thing, in this case, bitcoin. When you try and encourage them to join this community, they'll be all like "Errrrrr. I don't know, man. Blah Blah *insert lame excuses here*"

Being confronted with "to Bitcoin or not to Bitcoin" forces people to think about the concept of money. That has a tendency to make said people try to come up with a rational argument for why they "choose" to use fiat, lol. This can quickly turn into the "I never asked to know who Santa Claus is/where babies com from/who shot JFK" style of reaction.

One day, they'll notice how wealthy all their Bitcoining friends are Cheesy

You bring up a great point here. People don't 'choose' to use fiat, it's something you're introduced to before you can even understand it (as a baby/toddler). If we introduce bitcoins as normal to the next generation then they'll just consider it normal money. It's kind of hard to explain to a 2 year old why decentralized cryptocurrency is better than fiat, but you have to start somewhere!
1952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Destroying Bitcoin is NOT Acceptable on: August 21, 2016, 02:12:41 PM
There's nothing wrong with proof of burn. What are you talking about? You haven't given any reasoning behind your opinion.

It's too much worst for the long term. What do you think?
No, it is not. Generally, it reduces the total supply that is available which can be seen as a positive thing for those who put importance on the price of a singular Bitcoin in fiat equivalent.

If 10% of bitcoins are destroyed then your bitcoins are now worth more because the available supply is lower. It's basically supply and demand, and it's a positive linear correlation.
1953  Economy / Reputation / Re: OgNasty: "@Lutpin: Really should kill himself." on: August 20, 2016, 04:37:03 PM
These kids are just harassing OgNasty terribly. You have no right to tell me what to wear in my signature space unless we have that amounts of fellowship. Just stop shitting over the forum for whatever reasons.

OgNasty has the rights to remove people from his trust list if they are damaging his reputation over some kindergarten drama & he also has the right to add people to his list if he wants to(not talking bout + ratings). Why the fuck do u fail to understand other pupil perspectives ? and just call it "extortion" cause u failed to.

Apparently that's 'not what this thread is about' rofl. I wonder if you'll get the same response I did;)

Well it seems OgNasty has apologized so are you two ok to kiss and make up now?
1954  Economy / Reputation / Re: Alt-accounts actmyname and DarkStar_ are CHEATING EVERYONE on: August 20, 2016, 03:45:17 PM
What happened::

User actmyname and DarkStar_ are alts of each other, and as such have cheated multiple services and campaigns, claiming giveaways multiple times, joining campaigns with anti multi account rules .. etc
All this has been repeated big number of times, and is nothing other than straight out cheating/ripping-off services.

Scammers Profile Link:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=465017   actmyname
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=507936   DarkStar_

Summary::

- At first, i just noticed how often these two users are posting one after another and/or in same threads across the forum, which was interesting, so i took a look in their statistics:

- Many times i have seen them two having the same signature of lending service they(he) operate(s), and you can now see same private message space used
https://s3.postimg.io/gy5jnmbgj/loanfuck.jpg

You can see him doubleposting with his alt accounts one on top of another, purely in order to pad his post count.

http://archive.is/2O7ht

Not only that, but the very campaign that he is in forbids multi accounting in their tos. He is CHEATING THEM !
Code:
1 bitcointalk account per person(If you are found to be enrolling alts you and your alt are kicked out with no pay)

You can see him casually cheating out of primedive giveaways..
http://archive.is/aZs0A

Aaaanddd another one cheating another PD giveaway .. again one under the other ..
http://archive.is/grYcd

aaaannddd anotherr one https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wOk6SW269El5YnnJ3KpN2Fb2AqvM0CbnuVfq0-jOXWs/pubhtml  (search alts darkstar  and actmyname..)

guess what ? aanother oneee  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eq_3Cg5S8EwrrIzzC1xw4jMha2Q-ufQuef7bnPMa_gk/pubhtml#  (search alts again.)

If someone has the time to establish a blockchain connection, here's a list of addresses i found, but i think he doesn't mix them, infact he's using two seperate wallets.

Still having a read through to see the legitimacy here, but figured I'd quote the OP so we can see the images.

Edit: so far I don't see any proof at all to what you claim. I'm sure we could find 100 users that have similar posting times. It is a little suspicious that the one account is advertising the other but it really doesn't prove that it's an alt.
1955  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: **COINS** Buy any up to 4. 1/500$USD on: August 18, 2016, 11:57:48 PM
Well do that, I'm a ITT tech grad in NSA network security administration, and I would never give u 2000$ in coins and hope u pay me....we can do my option. U buy one coin at a time. So u know u get each one. By one. But no money no coin....I have and will never give coins to anyone without payment.

Oh good, we only have to trust you with like $450. -.- rofl. And you are....?

It's not going to happen. Be prepared to send first, use escrow or gtfo.
1956  Economy / Reputation / Re: OgNasty: "@Lutpin: Really should kill himself." on: August 18, 2016, 11:54:06 PM
That's fucked up.  None of this drama surprises me anymore, but two members of DT fighting (even though this has nothing to do with that list) isn't good.  Is OGNasty going to get tagged for this?  It seems like it's bad behavior at the least.

I'm not fighting with anyone.  I've made no prior mention of any of his harassment of me publicly on these forums.  I was contacted on this forum, unsolicited, by Lutpin, who advised me to remove my signature and join Lauda's signature campaign group.  When I refused, this situation unfolded.  Lauda even contacted me on Slack asking about getting my advertiser to sponsor his new signature campaign group, so I'm not sure when it was labeled as evil.  Nevertheless, rather than get into a public mud-slinging contest, I will leave it to the community to decide who is harassing who.

It was unprofessional as a business owner to say he should kill himself. Obviously I hope you don't actually feel that way, nor do I take it very seriously.

On the other hand who gives a shit what people advertise for? Like seriously there's a whole sub forum that should basically be called 'scams' but you can't advertise gambling websites because they had a major screw up? I've seen way bigger businesses have way bigger screw ups and people just stop using them, not flip out on the Internet.

If you don't like who OgNasty is advertising for then you should have bid higher. Nuff said. He's not advertising a racist kiddy-porn Hitler loving website ffs. It's a bitcoin casino. They're all sketchy, but people love them because they're easy. Pick your battles. This isn't worth it.
1957  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Help] ESCROW on: August 18, 2016, 11:48:18 PM
The short answer would be no.

You don't have enough trades on the forum for anyone to trust you. Why wouldn't I use someone else that's held $1000s worth of Bitcoins at a time rather than you

I would suggest locking the thread and moving on. Being an escrow won't make you money either. It's mainly to help the community.
1958  Economy / Digital goods / Have a useless negative trust Sr. Member account? I need one to test signatures on: August 14, 2016, 07:46:57 PM
I'm looking for a Sr. Member Account to test bbcode on signatures (as I don't want to change mine and mess up my signature campaign payment). If you have a Sr. Member with red trust or it's useless for some other reason I would like it. I'm not willing to pay anything if it's an account that you used to scam but I'll make a donation if it's an account you acquired legitimately (aka: You give out loans and this is an account you got stuck with. I really don't consider anything else legitimate at the moment but if you can explain it I'll give a small donation.)

I don't want to encourage account sales here and I definitely don't want to encourage scammers to be able to sell their accounts. The donation will be something like 1mBTC because essentially the account is worthless to anyone, but to me it has has small value for testing purposes.

If someone has an issue with this and thinks I'm just looking to purchase accounts, I don't so I'll just delete the thread (in other words please don't neg me lol! I'm going to stay very transparent with this account transfer if anyone is willing to give me one).

Thanks!
1959  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 2014 Macbook pro 13.3 on: August 13, 2016, 09:24:54 PM
Alright I'll do $300 with no escrow. Let me know when I should PM you my address and once I get the laptop, see if it's stolen and test it / scan it I'll send you the bitcoins.

PM me ASAP! This is a limited time deal!

Do you get the food first at a drive-thru or do you hand over your money and then get the food

Well, if you had used excrow this would have been sold and in my hands by now. Instead you're being a shady fuck sitting behind your laptop eating a Big Mac that you paid for first in a drive through. Congrats. Anyways... If you want to use escrow PM me otherwise scam some dumbass kid on some other forum. Sketchy 'business man'. Did they teach you your 'business math' at 'business school'? Because what you tried to explain (But did a piss-poor job at it) was accounting... You dumb sketchy Big Mac eating 'legitimate business man' newbie (sorry I mean Jr. Member. ROFL!)
1960  Economy / Economics / Re: Merging of bitcoin and banks on: August 13, 2016, 09:13:27 PM
it will  be great if banks can adopt the blockchain technology but it is impossible for them to do so because they can not show their transactions to everyone and then will never let anyone see each others balance

No, Banks dont need to adopt the blockchain technology because this will make the bank accounts anonymous. How about the government accounts ? What will happen to them ? How to know if this government officials are corrupting the country ? We need to know all the transactions of all the banks in a country and we need to know whos can be punished or not. And bitcoin will always be anonymous no matter what.

The blockchain does not make the banks account anonymous. The banks can correlate the account and user.

Lol this exactly. Is your account number 1234567 anonymous right now? Nope. Neither is your bitcoin address. If you don't know who is behind the address it's still not anonymous as you can follow the transactions. Anonymous would be people passing around a paper wallet and never actually spending it on the blockchain.

Or physical bitcoins (essentially the same thing as a paper wallet). Alternatively, if coinjoin and other privacy-enhancing measures take off, bitcoin's anonymity/pseudonymity could be improved much further.

first of all why the hell would anybody want to choose changing "bitcoin paper wallet" or "bitcoin physical coins" without sending the transaction on the blockchain while there is this thing called "cash"?

second of all the anonymity is reached as long as the first address of yours is not linked to you personally.  and also there is always a lot of other solutions for more anonymity.

Mk champ let me dumb this down for you...

http://bitcoinsimplified.org/learn-more/anonymity/

As I was explaining, it's pseudonymous, not anonymous. If one of your addresses was 'outed' in the future people could link all of your other addresses with it. That's what the blockchain is. Get educated before trying to come accross like you know more than someone else.
