the problem with ebay and their protection plan esp with paypal is that they could just mine for 45 days and then do  a credit card chargeback and send the unit back and ebay/paypal would go with it...and if you did not do paypal there is still the ebay buyer protection plan...which if ebay said pay them you said no...then you are banned ebay account for life...so I've been told by those who did this stuff with Avalon etc in the past.....not sure how true it is...but I guess it is possible

I don't think it's that easy to charge back as I had similar experience selling a lot of ASICminers to someone who tried to charge back.

I sent eBay the postage receipt and tracking number, then eBay stopped charge back.

This is why I refuse to even sign up with Ebay. There are too many reliable escrow services here or even people for that matter that will conduct the transaction for you and it will be permanent. Seriously, $18,600 someone bought a Jupiter on Ebay? What a sham.

Doesn't enable all cores just enable them at that time? Then when running they will eventually go off/on again anyway.

Anyone use a 10-pin connector directly on the PSU: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/19648/ele-1163/FrozenCPU_ConnectRight_10-Pin_Female_PSU_Power_Connector_-_Corsair_Seasonic_-_Black.html

I can't find it in the UK or Europe Sad And the usual 6 pin PCI-E does not fit.
Any ideas?

I jump all my PSUs right at the modular connector. You don't have to have 10pin connector if you can just get the female crimp pins instead.  Make a small lead and attach it to the proper PS_On and Gnd pins.

P.S. - I do make switch connectors that will work for this but the shipping to Europe sucks cost wise for singles.

Do you mean to get these, connect a cable between them, insulate them and then plug it directly into the PSU:

Can you post some pictures on what you made, so I can get a better idea.

Thank you.

Yes that is what you need.  You just crimp a 4-5cm section of 18AWG wire and then plug it in. If you are paranoid then cover over in electrical tape. Not the prettiest thing but will work fine and is cheap.

Check the thread in my sig for my switches.  Here is pic of the idea (not mine and its a little long):

Thank you again.

Do I need a special crimp tool to attach the cable to the pins or I can just use a household pliers and squeeze it until it bites the wire?

Also do you know of any other connector I can use apart from the 10 pin one if I decide to go that way? I tried a 6 pin PCi-E, but it's just not made to go there.
I need to make 4 for 2 PSUs: CM V850 and EVGA 1300W - the former has the PS_ON pin on a 10 pin connector and the latter has it on a 18 pin connector.

I grew up using those. You should use a proper crimping tool. They are cheap as hell at wal mart and a myriad other places. you CAN do it with a pair of basic pliers, but it's difficult.

This one is for the Seasonic/Corsair units. All you need to do is slap some pins in there and short it out.

Here are the pins:

Besides KNC forgetting the screws both my modules are running hot. Did anyone put thermal grease in between the aluminum plate and the heatsink or just greased the chip only? Both new modules I put in are running 10 degrees warmer then the other two. Seriously, how warm can these go before there starts to be a problem? I have dies shutting down all over the place on both new modules. I'm only hashing at 540Gh/s and according to BTC Guild, it's only 318Gh/s. Although BTC Guild may need some time to catch up, since it's only been a 10 minutes. Yea, I posted this on the KNC forums too...I want to cover all bases here.
1305  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase defrauding customers, misleading ! on: November 21, 2013, 09:33:43 PM
They do selectively scam people, that's a given. My deposit made it to my bank, but it was three days late. But where was that money in those three days? Who was using that money? Getting the possible interest on it? Next time I purchase bitcoin or sell bitcoin for that matter, I will maybe choose Dwolla. I'm confirmed and up to par there. Its too bad, because their system has the potential to be very good and be a bitcoin users dream....but instead of making things work and being a shining star of the bitcoin community they opt to choose shady practices and lousy service. Too bad.

O yea, the FORCEFUL action of making you add your credit card is pretty pathetic too. They basically tell you that you can't do anything with their service if you don't add your credit card and/or blood.

Be VERY careful when using this service and DO NOT store or hold ANY of your bitcoin there.
1306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 21, 2013, 09:20:30 PM
I purchased 2 of the recent fire-sale modules for my 4-port Jupiter, but needed to add a couple of pin headers to support all six modules.

I've never really soldered anything before and had no idea what I was doing, but I managed to get everything working! It took a few tries though. I made the assumption that the two blank spaces were simply solder filled holes, but no matter how hot I heated them, I couldn't melt them. I ended up just soldering to the surface.

I'm currently running my existing 4 modules on ports 2-5 so that I can simply attach the new ones onto the side of my open-case Jupiter using ports 1 and 6.

The point of me sharing this is simply to show my excitement and proof that even a noob like me can make this work!

Is there any way the empty ports can be used without soldering and risk voiding the warranty? I thought I had 4 extra ports in my Saturn, but really only have 2 and debating whether or not its worth the risk to add the 3rd. I have some soldering experience, but not on anything this nice.  Tongue

Are these controller boards available from KnC in case of a failure? Will the new controller boards be compatible with the current upgrade modules, or vice versa?

I'm in the same boat, no black connectors attached to my board so I could never add 6 modules to controller board BUT I doubt I'll ever be able to buy anymore module anyway, so the point is moot.

[2013-11-21 18:02:14] KnC: core 4-166 was disabled due to 10 HW errors in a row

On my upgrade board. Not sure how to handle.

Did you let it run for a while and heat up a little?

1308  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PSA: coinbase.com defrauds with different schemes on: November 21, 2013, 05:45:55 AM
I agree with this. This company is hurting the bitcoin industry. I don't know how else I'll sell my bitcoin, but I'm sure I'll figure a way and they won't want my bank information, credit cards and pin#'s, phone numbers, family members names, telephone, address,  and whatever  else information they have on me. What do I have on them? Basically nothing. Not even an address or phone number. Just an occasional email response from some rude kid that doesn't help you at all.

1309  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase gone to a new low. Blocked my phone. LOL on: November 21, 2013, 05:36:38 AM
If in the end the last option to be able to reach them is via physical mail,

then there is a problem.

Give 'em hell...because I'm tired of my money stuck in limbo, basically they are using my money free of charge for a couple of days. It is ridiculous.
1310  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase defrauding customers, misleading ! on: November 21, 2013, 05:34:32 AM
Whitelist? Jesus, just to join the place they vette you like beocoming the president. You add a bank account and they make two small deposits which you need to confirm. Once that is done they should have NO reason to suspect anything is wrong, you just went through their process and passed. Same thing with a credit card. They make two small deposits. You confirm what they are and they confirm. Same thing with your phone. They call your phone with a pin# that you enter on the site. Now they have THREE ways they confirmed it is the correct person and yet they still select people as being fraudulent. What is this shit?
1311  Economy / Service Discussion / Coinbase - serious issues..... on: November 21, 2013, 05:22:51 AM
What the hell has happened to coinbase? Missing deposit dates by days. Website timing out all the time. Can't even work through their site anymore and do anything. Since you can't really call them on the phone and email is even more obscure all you can do is leave a message here on the forums.

Coinebase, if you cannot scale your business model when things get active then GET A NEW BUSINESS MODEL. How many friggin times I've seen companies try to operate on a bad model and keep chugging along like nothing is wrong is just pathetic. You hold my money hostage a lot and it has become worse and worse. I don't know what your issues are, but off the hearings of congress you really aren't doing the bitcoin industry and good here. You are hurting it. PLLLLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSEEEE, STOP HOLDING MY MONEY HOSTAGE.

1312  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Hashfast on: November 20, 2013, 10:49:17 PM
Yea, this is weird. I'm a KNC customer, a fairly semi-happy one all because I have a running miner right now but seeing a link in the Hashfast thread with an announcement with pictures of an empty box and power supplies is quite odd. Let me say something here. When I first got my miner which was the third week in October it ran rough. Like a car that hasn't been tuned. It needed 10 firmware revisions to get running smoothly. You have to take into account for all that time AFTER you receive your hardware that it's not going to run right when you first get it. You may need to wait a month or more until they pat down a solid firmware. This is a hard thing to follow here, and the only reason is of course curiosity and potential customer, but from what I've seen...Hashfast is just as MIA as KNC is.

1313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 20, 2013, 10:40:25 PM
Seems like most of the module upgrades went to people that have Jupiters, no? You greedy bastards!

I don't remember if my controller has all 6 connections there. I don't think it does.
1314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 20, 2013, 10:34:45 PM
And this is exactly why I am having a 200 amp line installed at the new house we just purchased.

The hash rate stability and the revenue increase outweighs the small expense of getting the hydro company to run the new line.

Thanks for showing the graph, it is nice to see this demonstrated with the numbers to back it up.

You are mighty welcome...
You will see the difference!
What I did, was install 2 -100 amp sub-panels....one for computers, and the other for the farm.....
so the miners & computers have a dedicated 100 amp line...  all the way...
and installed enough circuits & breakers to ensure I use no more than 60% of the rated draw on a 20 amp breaker...
(2200watts... I try to use only 1200-1300 per)... so like only 2 jupiters per 20 amp breaker
Now I'm ready for those November babies!  Rush it! Haaaa
Because every BIT counts.... Har-deee-harrrrrr
Here's the entire graph if you're curious...
http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1LnqQzhbp1udcqByNZWnveHXJorDuJHWRs
The last 12 hours is all its been hooked up...(from the last dip you see there...)  but can clearly see a difference already....

How many miners do you have on that farm? I forgot that some people don't live in a NORMAL house. Just kidding. I guess if you have a farm and are going to add a lot more electrical devices you may as well get a fat electrical pipe right into the house. My house is only 10 years old, all the electrical wiring is new. It is just a single family ranch style home with 100 amp panel. I don't plan on going over that anytime soon, and of course I separate circuits for my washer/dryer and air conditioning. And please tell me, why do you mine at Eligius? Such an ugly site! That Wizkid and his pool.

anyone near Philly gets lucky and still gets their modules tonight

Scheduled Delivery:
Wednesday, 11/20/2013, By End of Day

I live right next to Philly and all my deliveries were changed to tomorrow.

1316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 20, 2013, 10:18:40 PM
Yeah, I really love what KNC has done and am eager to see what new beast they roll out. At the same time, it may come down to who can ship first..

While KNC has been working on their stuff, deliveries and all that there most likely have been other companies working on their stuff as well....miners hashing at 2TH or even more will most likely come from other companies then KNC. The problem is to find out which ones will be on the market first. Seriously, KNC's first top of the line rig was 580Gh/s. What could possibly be their top of the line 2nd gen model? I REALLY want to see an American company come out with something. I would definitely take the ride to check them out and pick up the goods, as well as a lot of other people would.
1317  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: KNCminer is a SCAM - Lost thousands! on: November 20, 2013, 10:14:25 PM
This may sound crazy but the only company that was honest and diligent enough to ever pay me back in BTC even when BTC increased %200 was Silkroad.  Sorry, the drug dealing gods were more honest then most companies I've dealt with. I'd rather not go into detail. Smiley

1318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 20, 2013, 08:01:19 AM
These miners don't require much power and at least in my opinion do not require a 220 line like a 20,000 BTU air conditioner does. A Jupiter is only pulling what 600? 700?

Are there any settings for this pool? I hear people changing their payout level, but don't see such settings anywhere on the site.

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/mystats.php?cmd=options

put in your wallet adress, then click to the menu point: Configure able Options,

Use Firefox if you are on Mac OSX

I put in my address but don't see any "configurable options" anywhere. That would mean whoever knows my bitcoin address can change my options?

Got it...I see it now. Had to update my cookie.

Beauty  Tongue

HEY.....where did you get the cool decals..mine is as plain as a baby's butt.....(I also only have one piece of foam on the top of one of my heat sinks missing the other 3 foam pieces.....)

the fiends

very pretty....

Searing

I notice in this and in another photo the rears are almost abutting the wall.  VRMs do get hot and their heat effects the modules.  I put a piece of cardboard between the VRMs and the module and flow air in a tunnel - easy it's a Merc and only a single module so cardboard on the outside of the PCB making the tunnel, the air passes over the VRMs and out the back - being kept sequestered from the module as it were, in addition to the Arctic Freezer w/fan.  When the extra module gets here it will go behind the first as my power supplies will be on the left.  I will probably mount two 2" diag 12v fans on the board blowing right toward the VRMs and perhaps a 120mm fan to the back behind the added module pulling air out.

It's a skewed perspective. I just measured the distance and there is 17cm between the miners and the wall.

Cyper, do your the guy a lot of Saturn owners didn't get a chance to upgrade their miners!
