1201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it hit $1000 again? on: December 16, 2013, 09:24:24 PM
I have coins from mining, so I really didn't buy any. I guess I can hold on to them for a while and see what happens. I usually don't have time to even check on BTC prices daily, but when I was selling my minted coins for $1k each I got spoiled.
1202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 16, 2013, 06:19:00 PM
They will probably be greedy again and ask $7 for a Jupiter. At this time in December, BTC on the low, the only people that would benefit from paying that much is someone that already has a shit load of hashing power. Even with my upgraded Saturn I would dump that much out. Then again in an earlier post there are just those stupid people that will buy just to buy. I always wondered how they could sell out of Neptunes with a 6 month delivery window.
1203  Bitcoin / Armory / So, is Armory back to a working program? on: December 16, 2013, 06:05:55 PM
I'm a previous user of .88 version which you needed huge amounts of resources to run and get the program even going. Does this new beta .90 solve that issue? I've been using Electrum with great sucess and ease, none of that 5 hour download blockchain crap. I really wish the Armory would start using online servers. Some people say, well if the Electrum server goes down you can't access your wallet. Sorry, but there are over 15+ Electrum servers so all of them going down at once is impossible. And with either one you need an Internet connection. I guess I'm looking for someone to tell me why I should go back to the Armory.
1204  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it hit $1000 again? on: December 16, 2013, 05:55:18 PM
I wouldn't expect to see $1000 bitcoins for some years if it will even happen.
Expect much lower prices.

lol

I guess I shouldn't even have asked! Answers all over the board. It is anyone's guess really.
1205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 16, 2013, 05:37:20 PM
They didn't say anything more on when they would sell Jupiters if they even will? Maybe boil it down to which week? I have a feeling they are going to be just like the modules. Very high priced and triple inflated shipping. UPS told me what I paid for my module shipping charges I could have shipped 3 Jupiters around the world.

1206  Bitcoin / Electrum / What is the option CHANGE ADDRESSES mean or do? on: December 16, 2013, 05:19:23 PM
This option is selected by default. What does this option control or do?
1207  Bitcoin / Electrum / [SOLVED] My receive addresses changed after upgrading? on: December 16, 2013, 05:10:00 PM
I was using 1.9.4 I believe for a while. I had an address I used all the time for receiving BTC. Right after upgrading to 1.9.5 it changed all my receive addresses to new ones. I really want to keep my original addresses, since they were statically configured/setup at different places. How can I get back those addresses?

Also, if those addresses are gone, where did they go?
1208  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: To trade/cash out NMC coins to BTC? on: December 16, 2013, 04:54:46 PM
I'm in the US. Can anyone recommend a place to trade my NMC for bitcoin?

Cryptsy and BTC-E are good places to trade NMC to BTC. But I guess you already know that, right?

I heard of BTC-E but not Cryptsy. Thanks.

1209  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: To trade/cash out NMC coins to BTC? on: December 16, 2013, 04:50:31 PM
Ill buy them off you.

How many do you have?

Oh, it's nothing like that. It is a very small amount. I accumulated then while mining on BTC Guild and have only around 25-30 of them I think right now.
1210  Economy / Speculation / Will it hit $1000 again? on: December 16, 2013, 03:58:53 PM
Been holding out for it to get back up to $1000 USD again. Anyone think it will get back up there any time soon? Any guesses?

1211  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: December 15, 2013, 02:25:36 AM
First you say this

If my hash rate according to my miner and cgminer us a 560Gh/s average, why does BTC Guild report back my speeds at 529-580 inconsistently?

Then when people try to explain that to you, you then change your gripe to this

No, my hash rate is not close to my average that's why I was bringing it up here. Seeing a constant 560 on my end, then seein 519 on the Guild is depressing. Where is that 50Gh/s disappearing to? I would understand 10 or even 20 for variance, but 50 is a whole bunch to just poof into no where?

A friendly suggestion.

Get your story straight then post.

Dude, blow me. Your entitlement god like I know it all attitude is exactly what bitcoin doesn't need. No, don't blow me. Lick my balls. If you don't have anything to contribute or ask just keep your mouth shut, eh? They're the same thing, asking a different way turd.

Your the one who blames a pool for doing something nefarious every time you refuse to understand something.  That isn't fair to the pools.

Congratulations your the first ever to make my ignore list.

Because someone doesn't understand something, then they reach out for help on the pool thread is normal to me. When did I ever blame the pool? I'm not an enlistment know it all like you are, and have questions once in a while.  You were that kind of person that picked up kids that didn't know as much as you. Scum of the earth I'll call that.
1212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 15, 2013, 12:52:58 AM
All manufactures will have no choice but to make "commercial" rigs. When making rigs 5TH+, they all become commercial. Only the guys that have the facilities to run these will be the only ones buying them. I really hope that 30 year old still living at mommy's house doesn't try to buy one of those future 5-9TH models. There goes the electrical house fire.

1213  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: December 15, 2013, 12:49:42 AM

Well then luck must be really bad right now.

No, YOUR luck is really bad.  It's YOUR variance.  It's nothing to do with the pool.

Please tell me. What is varying on my end???

Reported variance in hashrate is normal.  Look at the average over a few days, that's a better picture of what's really happening.

There's one pool I use that routinely varies my reported hashrate to as much as 3x my real hashrate.  It's like hashes flow like traffic, not a steady flow, first goes fast, then slow, but in the end, in averages out.

M

Thanks. Your analogy with traffic flow puts it into a better perspective.

1215  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to create/modify software for this forum [5500+ BTC] on: December 14, 2013, 10:41:40 PM
in 2011 the forum software was insufficient for their needs and here it is 2013 using the same stuff. Why in the world the thousands of dollars worth of donations they have haven't done any custom software is just baffling.
At this point it's time for people to start demanding the upgrade...

Where is the money?

Where did all the donations go?

Why have none of the hundreds of inquiries been answered and or addressed?

There are hundreds of competent people on this forum ready to work.

WHY ARE WE STILL USING SMF?

This site is missing some of the best plugins and addons around, and of course can't use them since it is such an old version of SMF. Shouldn't be using SMF to begin with, and could have very professional custom software written easily with all the funds they have from donations. Pretty pathetic the site goes down every week. Site operators, seriously, what's the hold up? Don't tell me you can't find a programmer to do the work.

I finally got one that I figured out. What a pain.

Where is the ghash pool thread?

Neptunes all sold out!

Noooooooooo,   it's official ALL GONE  Cry Cry Cry

why so sad?

doesnt that mean they can get started?

KNC isn't going to do a damn thing this year that has anything to do with Neptune other than take people's money. With holiday schedules coming up and New Years, it is almost impossible to get anything done. They'll start working on Neptune from scratch in January, hence such a huge delivery date window. If you can't figure out when you can ship a product on a 6 month time line then its a fact there will be problems and issues.
1219  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: December 14, 2013, 09:28:09 PM
The only reason why I brought it up was from my previous post that no one answered. Maybe I'll just ask it again here.

If my hash rate according to my miner and cgminer us a 560Gh/s average, why does BTC Guild report back my speeds at 529-580 inconsistently? As I said before I'm sure it is something I can check, I just don't know how. All my error rates are low and cgminer itself tells me I'm good. Is it a lag thing between my setup here?

Because I haven't been able to get consistent rates, that's why I was going to try another pool to see what happens. But I really hate touching or changing things around just for testing.
Thanks

Your 560 reported speed will include hardware errors (probably 1-3%).  Additionally, the pool can only estimate your speed (as posted above).  The general variance for the pool is +/- 10% on the dashboard.  You can see on your Charts page a longer term average which shows you how it fluctuates.

The average should be roughly:

Miner Reported Speed - Hardware Error % - Rejected %.  BTC Guild's speed estimates ignore invalid shares, so it's your EFFECTIVE speed.

Well then luck must be really bad right now. I don't think I ever saw such low hash rates on the Guild since I started here. I'm usually seeing at least 550Gh/s, but when it dips to into the 520's, I start to lose out. I've done nothing on my end. No changes. I keep my hands off my miner, since it always has done well...but when I saw my hash rates just consistently drop lower and lower, I had to at least ask why.

1220  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: December 14, 2013, 09:24:42 PM
I also saw that ghash.io pool size. Does make you wonder, 0 fees and growing at a quick rate. If you are getting rewarded the same amount, is it loyalty that people stick around? Just trying to understand, as we all hate fees. I also don't know how a pool operator makes money. Are the pool fees how The Guild makes money? If yes, then how the heck the other 0 fee pools keep servers going with no fees? Scratching my head.

Lower performance, less support, less time spent upgrading and maintaining servers (both frontend and backend).  Ghash.io's stability is abysmal by any reasonable standard.  The only reason they're so big is more than 50% of their speed is a private farm of ASICs since they're acquiring them basically at cost from BitFury.

The only reason why I brought it up was from my previous post that no one answered. Maybe I'll just ask it again here.

What you are seeing is called Variance. As your difficulty goes up it gets harder to find a share. Luck is also involved, so although you may be hashing at a regular rate, the frequencey that you find shares varies. The pool determines your hashrate based on shares returned. If you get lucky and find a bunch of shares quickly it thinks you have a higher hashrate. if your get unlucky and find shares slower it thinks you have a lower hashrate. You should just check that your hashrate is close to your average.
