1661  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Scam on Facebook Uses Identities of Singapore’s Elite to Swindle Users on: November 27, 2019, 02:59:39 PM
I'm seeing a new round of scams with the same trick happening in different websites/apps lately and the involves impersonation not only by the identity of the person but also known pages of websites in order that they can scam money out of it. One of the worst things I saw lately was a livestream of a channel showing Vitalilk having an interview and it fooled thousands of people with their “send ETH to this address” scam. I do think that the government should step up or at least these websites like Facebook and Youtube do their thing
1662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency mining produce more pollution? on: November 26, 2019, 08:44:57 PM
~snip~

Sorry, but crypto mining firms using hydroelectric for example.
Draw Power away from the Grid, in the past the Dams would sell their excess to another utility,
this other utility uses Coal Plants or Diesel Generators or Nuclear Plants.
Which means when the mining firm uses all of the Dam's excess energy, the other utility has to use more coal, or diesel , or Nuclear to keep their side of the grid stable. Which can be even worse, if the Dam has to Buy from the other utility using coal, diesel, or nuclear, because the miners are exceeding their Dam's generating capacity.

All Crypto PoW Miners increase Pollution, even the ones using all renewable energy.  Tongue

FYI:
What people need to understand is the electric grid is composed of multiple sources of electricity ,
when someone sucks up the majority of a cleaner renewable energy,  then the difference is made up by the dirtier pollution causing ones.

Well we are only talking about dams here that is being shared by the public but what about dams or renewable energy built for that certain purpose and that is too only generate electricity enough to run their mining operations? I've read dozens of articles before where mining farms are buying off decommissioned or unused renewable developing facilities which means they aren't sharing to nobody but themselves., just like this one. Still this can't prove that crypto mining is more dirtier compared to the things I have previously said.
1663  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-26] China Shuts Over 100 Crypto Exchanges on: November 26, 2019, 08:13:26 PM
I've visited their local board here in the forum to see if there are some noise about the issue and so far I don't see any topics related to exchanges being shut down (either big or small) so my guess are this news about China is either fake or if it's real we are only talking about small exchanges here that's not even the main exchange of the Chinese people. You can check out their local board for yourselves and quickly translate it to English by right-clicking and then click "translate to English" to see what their topics.
1664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency mining produce more pollution? on: November 26, 2019, 07:38:28 PM
Compared to factories that product non-biodegradable products such as plastics, styrofoams, metal cans, and nuclear waste? Or compared to literal mining operations depleting our natural and limited resources rapidly? The idea that Bitcoin/Crypto mining is contributing to more waste compared to them is just some kind of black propaganda just to shift our minds in the real problem. This is just one of the things a nocoiner would just say just to point out a kind of negative towards Bitcoin yet they completely ignore more contributors to the pollution as compared to crypto mining. In crypto mining you just need electicity to power it and if you are using renewable energy then you aren't really contributing to the ecological damage in our world.
1665  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Be Aware] Fake Medium and Elon Musk Give Away BTC and ETH on: November 26, 2019, 05:58:56 PM
First it was Telegram channels giving fake giveaways, then we see it on social media websites having fake pages with these fake giveaways, we also see it in a Youtube channel where they are showing a fake live stream saying that they have a giveaway now we have them in Medium articles. These scammers are really getting more desperate and desperate in getting our coins that they cover a lot of websites and apps just to steal it. I think for us to prevent this is we need to educate people who we know that are into Bitcoin or crypto that these scams are getting more and more prevalent everyday.
1666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 30th South East Asian Games on: November 26, 2019, 03:32:40 PM
A lot of people have been saying that aside from the Philippines' basketball team the other sport they see them to dominate is the e-sports tournament they will have. Games such as DOTA 2 , Tekken, Mobile Legends, and Hearthstone all have notable players/teams participating at each segment  especially Dota 2 where TnC is the national representative whom they just defetead ViCi gaming recently besides that I heard the Dj will also be playing on their team which I think will make them have a more unstoppable lineup.
1667  Economy / Economics / Re: Is IBM is on path to bring blockchain to the masses? on: November 25, 2019, 08:40:48 PM
There's really more to it in our world then saying that "supply chain" is something that can change our world for the good, this is just a blockchain technology from a single company that will just improve efficiency and transparency we don't even know yet how they will apply this to the masses yet so we can't quickly assume if everyone can benefit from this at all. The way I see it just like what other companies do it is they will just roll it out on a small group and see how things will benefit from it and since we are talking about supply chain we are talking about companies who will use it so it's not really directed to the consumer stand point but for the company's efficiency when they apply this, there is no direct benefit to us.
1668  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Your service on: November 25, 2019, 07:43:40 PM
Just by looking at the questions you have and how you deliver it I can quickly assume that you are a one man team and you have nobody else helping you. If we are talking about a " high quality" exchange then we are talking about company operated exchanges like Binance or UpBit these exchanges are run by companies with thousands of employees and they make sure that they have the best thing to offer for their users. If you want to battle them out and grab a piece of their market share I believe that you can't do it on your own and you need to have a team under you where you can battle them out by having a better service or rates for you to attract their users towards your platform. Other than a good UI, good rates you also need to have your exchange to be reliable meaning you won't have any down times happening 24/7.
1669  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price drop but institutional investors on Bakkt are buying like crazy! on: November 25, 2019, 07:16:13 PM
Chances are they are also the ones who have started the price drop/correction in the first place if they aren't the ones then other whales have planned to do this kind of sell off to trigger some kind of correction so that they can short Bitcoin. It's that obvious since after it went down to 6,500$ it quickly got back up to around the 7,200$. I've seen this kind of price movements before and I haven't panic since 2017. These kinds of price drops where I am too late to short Bitcoin is I know myself that it's too late to cut Bitcoin and I just have to wait their quick recovery of it and so it did the correction didn't last for 24 hours and I am happy with the quick recover that Bitcoin did this late in the day.
1670  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Working "jobs for bitcoin" sites? on: November 25, 2019, 05:18:33 PM
You can literally just post your services/freelancing skills in any social media website groups specialize in job hunting and ask for crypto as a payment and not rely on websites such as this. Why? You'll land more interested parties in a social media website compared to freenlancing websotes specialize woth crypto since the traffic alone isn't even comparable against the one you will get in Facebook or Twitter. You can even create your own Twitter account for your services or have your own FB page for your services and get a better result.
1671  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance adding fiat on: November 25, 2019, 03:20:54 PM
Great thing about this is the traders would have a better option of selling it directly to fiat rather than just choosing one of those USD stablecoins which I think isn't a better option compared to reak Fiat. One of the problems I see in this is wouldn't this count as some kind of foreign exchange? Because if they add several fiat currencies it would automatically make them as some kind of crypto forex hybrid exchange which I highly believe that they would ve violating some regulations when it comes to SEC. I doubt that this will be an easy path for them.
1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you currently holding stablecoins(USDT, TUSD, etc)? Think again. on: November 24, 2019, 08:22:41 PM
I was thinking before that stablecoins can somehow become a safe haven when a bloodbath happens in the market and it can be a good alternative then just converting your coins directly to fiat. But given that they have an "asset freeze" capability and on this scenario where such a bloodbath happens then it is much more scarier to hold stablecoins when they can freeze your crypto at any given time. What if you are trying to cash out your USDT because it is now being affected by the market or it suddenly going down then Tether suddenly decides to freeze everyone's wallet then you are basically screwed.
1673  Other / Meta / Re: Use of TOR Browser for Bitcointalk on: November 24, 2019, 07:16:16 PM
Well if you only visit websites as what you regularly visit on normal browsers and you just use TOR for privacy you won't have to worry about anything about others infiltrating your device. TOR is just a browser that is capable of accessing websites in the dark web and it's not capable of giving you malware directly. Still you need to learn the best way to protect your information and money is by not visiting unsafe websites, clicking suspicious links, and downloading suspicious files, it doesn't matter what browser you choose since this is what you need to do to prevent breaches from happening.
1674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain technology progress on: November 24, 2019, 06:22:57 PM
When we are talking about company-owned/patented blockchains we are mainly talking their versions of it involving either the system of their business or even a product of it. Mostly their blockchains don't have a cryptocurrency or payment transaction involved but for other things like Walmart planning to have a medical record based blockchain or Coca-cola developing a blockchain that can "end" forced labor. Still the process of storing and keeping the records would be closely similar to what the original blockchain has to offer.
1675  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit abuse+Ann thread bumping group on: November 24, 2019, 05:30:32 PM
I understand that the ones who received merits might be part of a bumping/shilling service but what does the merit sender's (Kanine Awe and Blink) play onto this? Why did they receive 1 merit each and why did they woke up after that? Or is it just for the purposes of bumping their ranks to Jr. Member so that they could unlock to some benefits as well?
1676  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Article: Bitcoin Trading 101 - A Beginners Guide to Crypto Trading on: November 24, 2019, 04:24:24 PM
I believe your part about Fundamental Analysis is wrong and should just have been included in your section about Technical Analysis. When you talk about how traders see the value of the coin “based on the perception of people” you are literally talk about TA and nothing about FA. When traders try to find the value of crypto in FA or for any asset they will try to find its fair value and not by what other people's perception are to be exact there is really no FA going on in crypto trading because we don't have that needed information to do so. Either you remove your part of it or just mention how FA is not use in trading crypto.
1677  Economy / Reputation / Re: NEGATIVE FEED on: November 23, 2019, 06:54:25 PM
A scammer complaining about the negative trust affecting his reputation? That's not new in the forum in fact you are just one of many who are trying to get back to the people who have tagged you first and I doubt something like that has been successful even with the use of deceit since with a reliable tag members especially the DT members will know the right side of the story and it just happens your story isn't even believable, even if you have deleted your thread it's a good thing that they have archived what your are promoting.
1678  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Mt. Gox Trustee Delays Bitcoin Distribution by March on: November 21, 2019, 08:34:40 PM
Well they did extend the rehabilitation claim deadline for the users that ended October 22, 2018 to November 18, 2019 so I would understand why they have extended their deadline as well. It may not sound right but a payout in October 28 wasn't really possible with the extended deadline they did for the claims. Mt. Gox even if they extend and extend the deadline for their payouts it wouldn't stop their obligation to pay their users the money they rightfully own. So maybe if they move the March deadline again I would expect the court to intervene and maybe do some action for their clients.
1679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Data Breach: "1.2 billion people exposed" on: November 21, 2019, 07:14:06 PM
Microsoft office might be a strong candidate for this but according to this news which they included the heat map of where the clients are affected by the downtime you will see that it's not a considerable portion of the world so Office 365 might not be the sure thing yet. With 1.2 billion users of the corporation I think it will be one of those big companies like Google, Facebook, or Microsoft, or even maybe Apple so this data breach is really dangerous if proven correctly.
1680  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: OneCoin: The Biggest Scam Crypto Scam Ever? on: November 21, 2019, 05:52:43 PM

As the US lawyer Mark Scott waits to hear the jury's verdict in the money laundering case where he is accused of processing $400m of money stolen by Onecoin from its investors victims, in exchange for $50m in fees (he said that his goal was 50:50, to be worth $50m by the age of 50. He's now facing 50 years in prison)

Serves him right for being an accomplice of such crime. For Mark Scott I do think he deserves the maximum punishment of 50 years since he have helped the scam to launder the money and with one of their accomplices being a key witness against them I think that their chances of getting away with their white collar crime is nearly down to zero. And it seems to me that the crackdown against OneCoin's associates and their assets is still not over yet and I don't think not one of them would escape the judicial system.
