But it will have to stay competitive with normal cloud services and fees. I think that is what will determine the SIA coin price when the dust settles. It may be more than just about price however for some. Some may pay more for a decentralized storage. we'll have to wait and see.

"6000 blocks remaining" is the duration of the file contract, i.e. the minimum time that the data needs to be available. Your files should be available as soon as the upload % reaches 100.

Our goal is to be cheaper than traditional cloud storage services. The theory is that the average person renting out their hard drive has no overhead costs: no massive server room, no dedicated 10Gbps fiber connection, etc. So their margins can be smaller.

btw, the latest release is out (v0.3.3.1). Should fix the miner stability issues. Download from www.siacoin.com as usual.

new wallet binaries?

I fetched a linux x64 binary compiled by some kind soul in the IRC; I tested the new miner with it. While Taek says it's a lot better on Nvidia (I haven't tested), it seems only somewhat faster on AMD.

Kineta's 290X does something around 90MH/s - 100MH/s with it, although the code has been much improved - the AMD OpenCL compiler is butchering it with its lobotomized code generation.

The protocol is nicer, though - no more fetching the whole block, just the header and target. Whole header is returned, though, not just the nonce. Anyways, I've ported mine, and I'm waiting for Kineta to find a block (and siad to verify said block) with the two non-display GPUs - totaling 1.855GH/s on a 290X and 285, but I'm being quite gentle with them, as Kineta is my main system, so definitely don't want to crash the driver.

yes, for me it's as slow as before.
I think there are way too many private variables and some end up in global ram.
but if you are going to release your version, I'll not waste my time fixing it.

Oh, that shit is simple. If you're on PiMP, as I think you are, simply add -L/opt/AMDAPP/lib/x86 to LFLAGS before -lOpenCL.
If you're on 64-bit PiMP, make that -L/opt/AMDAPP/lib/x86_64

no not on pimp mate ...

just running from fedora 19 x64 ... thats the design i originally needed to make them sellable machines with little downtime ...

still wont compile under fedora 19 x64 ... but managed to download the precompiled gpu-miner ...

now have them running through nested scripts to run automatically from the main script ...

so thanks for the help wolf ...

the issue is at the moment - the four mining threads on this machine are only mining at around 50MH ... these cards are gigabyte 280x oc ...

how on earth can i make them run faster? ...

there doesnt seem to be any parameter switches within gpu-miner to control gpu and mem clocks ( like in sgminer ) ...

anyway of doing that? ...

She mined a block. My CL doesn't, so I copied network.{c,h}, then made the necessary edits to my version to call the correct functions with the correct params - it was really only a few-line edit to my existing code to use the new networking portion. I also link with the C reference implementation of Blake2B, and use its headers for my regenhash-style HW error check. With that miner, a HW error will simply appear to be a reject... well, actually, a hash below target reject.

I just want to understand what's going on with this miner.
And if my code is worth merging, keeping, selling.... whatever.
