Looks like all deposits and withdrawals on poloniex are broken right now. I have sent them an email, not sure if they work weekends though. We'll be addressing the issue asap

Taek,
Yes I do believe something is wrong on their end. Also a weird time withdrawing BTC from Poloniex earlier, got an "oops message" when confirming withdraw but it did withdraw to my BTC wallet anyways.

THX!

EDIT: Finally my deposit from 8 hours ago have posted on Poloniex! Going to try sending more know  Grin

the coin itself is not what the project is all about ... and in that sense - the 'coin' is not very special ...

the coin itself is just a system of payment for the what the project IS actually trying to achieve ... and that is a decentralized and readily available cheap GLOBAL storage system ...

the coin itself doesnt hold the value or the interest for most here at sia ... the storage potential does ...

it can be used functionally and systematically as 'just' a decentralized storage system - or as a solid foundation and backend to other projects ...

as suggested - look around and read ... enlighten yourself to a system that is actually FUNCTIONING right here and now ... not just on paper - like other projects out there ...

taek and team are doing a great job so far ...

This link is a good starting point.

The important thing about Sia is that it is decentralized cloud storage protocol that was designed to have extremely efficient storage and retrieval properties. The initial network is live, and is proving that it can safely handle files being added. We are focused on making a strong, easy, usable developer API so that 3rd party developers have an easy time building cool stuff on top of Sia. Sia also aims to be especially attractive to enterprise companies. We have already been contacted by multiple enterprises who wish to trial Sia as a backend.

The development team has very strong technical abilities and is moving fast. The Sia codebase is clean, friendly, and welcoming to contributions from other developers. There are several contributors to the Sia project who are not on the official Sia team. Sia has been growing at a steady rate, and interest has been increasing steadily with time.

Is it possible to give a little more information about how to use the new Sia-v0.4.0-beta-windows-amd64? Once unzipped folder Sia-v0.4.0-beta-windows-amd64.zip, what do we do? The new folder will file sia.exe to work under vindovs?!?!I never found a way to start the new wallet as GUI, like 0.3.3.3 !!!
Thanks!

This release does not have an accompanying UI release (yet). This release of siad is not compatible with the current UI. We hope to release the next patch (v0.4.1) relatively soon after gathering feedback on v0.4.0. Thank you for your patience.

Now I saw that! In this case, how to use this wallet?

0.4.0 release contains two executables: 'siad' and 'siac'. 'siad' is a process that should be running all the time, probably in the background. 'siac' is a tool that can be used to communicate with 'said' and perform actions like uploading and downloading. You can explore the available actions by running './siac --help'

The GUI should be out tomorrow or Tuesday. All of the major GUI issues have been resolved, just polishing some rough edges at this point.

Well I would add on to why its great, but looks as though everyone beat me too it!  Wink

Get involved with SIA, not just for the coin side or buying and selling as with other coins, but use and enjoy the storage features it has now and will be greatly improved upon when 0.4.0 is released very soon!

Its just a really cool project and really is a "one of a kind"  Smiley With a great dev team that is ALWAYS there to help.

You are funny. All your questions are for to calculate market cap and make some short term trade on a coin you know nothing or care about.
You don't care enough to read the whitepaper. You don't skim through the thread. You are not trying to understand that this is not an altcoin
trading game coin. But to answer your ?.

Siacoins that will be mined goes down by one every block until it reaches 30k per block. After that it will always mine 30k I guess forever.
That is because Siacoin is for renting storage and for mostly businesses to store all their cloud data cheaper and more reliable than centralized services.
Siacoin is a currency for storage usage so the ultimate value and price will be decided by the demand for its storage.

Siacoin allows a little boy in Alaska to use his 4TB hdd he got for Christmas to sell his space to Netflix who will use all of Sia's thousands of storage providers to store their content cheaper than Amazon. And for Mr. Smith who used to put his videos of himself naked making muscle poses on google drive until he got paranoid that it takes only one google employee to allow a hacker to gain access to his account and upload his video where if you put it in Sia, even the hosters don't know what they are storing so you only trust Sia the protocol which is open source.

Why have torrents anymore when there is Sia. Why should those guys who upload movies for free use file hosting sites when he can now use Sia?
Siacoin will be improved and tested like Bitcoin. If you trust your money to Bitcoin you will trust Sia for your data.
