The reserve is for funding future development, this is to create a long term self funded project. Projects that are not funded rarely last. This project could last a very long time.

The DAO will also vote on all of that stuff, so unless most people believe it will increase the value more, then it won't be released and spent. Even if some of the community reserve was released, it will be capped to only a very small amount at a time, so the reserve will last quite a few years and never flood the market. Expanse on the market is and will remain rare by design, even if some people do not understand it yet as the idea is fairly new using smart contracts in this way.

There is 100k for the team at launch, that will never be dumped, and whatever miners are mining now. Make sure and read the FAQ in the main announcement here if you are interested in understanding the project, thanks!

(I also wrote an article "Introducing Expanse" that explains the basics)

How is this more fair than Ethereum?   11 MM reserve vs 12 MM?

It's strange that you guys paint the ico as something negative.  ICO investors take a lot of risk.  At current Ethereum price that'ss less than a 3x return.  I personally would not take that kind of risk for 3x with funds locked up for a year and a half.  Instead you guys use the code and claim it is somehow more fair?  Also, your 11MM reserve is much more of a percentage than ETH.  If you go POS after a year like ETH, most of the coins will belong to you.  Kinda like Ripple.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys are here as competition is good-- It' just asinine to call it more fair.

I think you are misunderstanding something. "Fair launch" was about announcing it well in advance and having a testnet beforehand, this is somewhat unusual for Bitcointalk in general, but has nothing whatsoever to do with the Ethereum launch, or the Ethereum premine, or the Ethereum ICO money.

Not having an ICO means we have to create the value for it to be successful, people can just mine it if they want. It is just a different plan, that doesn't mean all ICOs are bad. The DAO is also very different as the community will literally determine the future.

Open source platforms are all about using the best ideas and trying different things. That is what we are doing.

Well said.

Suppressing bad ideas can be as dangerous as the bad ideas themselves.

dev, what is the dumping schedule for the premine?

100k is available from the start. The remainder of the 11M will be decided upon by the DAO once it is formed.

The community will decide.

The same goes for the total coin supply.

At the current rate with the lack of halving block rewards, assuming PoW remains, there will be ~40M coins produced over the next 10 years.

A friend of mine runs multipool.us (the original multi-pool) and wants to set up an EXP pool there, he was asking if there is an open source pool he could use for it. Let me know and I can pass on the info to him, thanks.
