Fun fact which I don't think anybody shared yet:
This year women's final had higher number of views then men's final. This really surprised me since it is usually the other way around and not even close. I guess people wanted to see new faces battling it on girls side and/or maybe we can attribute this to viewers in UK. I believe tennis is very big there and having their girl in the final must have been magnet for many to tune in.

That's surprising indeed especially as also in the men's final there were a lot of stakes on the table. Tennis is indeed big in UK (together with some other sports including track cycling) and we can only imagine what it would give if Radanescu would be able to win Wimbledon. Last British female winner dates already back from 1977.

BIG WINNER!

Medvedev is handsome.   Smiley
But I did not understand why the hell he collapsed on the court like a dead fish and showed everyone his tongue.   Huh
This is a stupid gesture, I do not approve of it.
Although the victory was certainly a big grief for the Djokovic.
I wouldn't take that gesture to seriously as it wasn't meant to be disrespectful or anything like that. He had just beaten the strongest tennis player in the world in straight three sets in a Grand Slam tournament. Not sure if we would be able to control our emotions fully and don't make a weird gesture as well. He deserved this one although I am still shocked that game ended 3 - 0. I wonder if anyone placed a bet on that result? Cheesy
I think some bets on that match cost people a lot of money. But that's what betting is, sometimes one gets lucky, sometimes one gets broke. and about the gesture, we honestly have seen people make different kinds of gestures in the past, and some got heavily punished for those. But as a sportsman, he's representing his country on one of the biggest stages. So he should keep his certain emotions in check. But depending on the adrenaline rush of human body, it can be really hard to do at times. Again, it's not about being guilty or not, it's about the little kid who thinks of the sportsperson as his idol.
It's just that Medvedev is a big fan of the FIFA series of games, so he decided to demonstrate a gesture from this game  Wink However, Medvedev promised not to repeat such an action again, because he hit his foot at the same time and received a bruise. In any case, Daniel went to this for two years and therefore decided to celebrate in the most unusual way possible and at the same time understandable to people familiar with the nuances and of course there is no disregard for the audience and the opponent. Especially after the match, Djokovic and Medvedev spoke respectfully about each other both directly at the awarding of prizes and then on social networks.

It is goal celebration from FIFA game. There was lots of people who did not understand the gesture but there were also some who were thrilled by it.

Personally, I find i a bit strange, but I understand the idea and intentions behind it, so well done. Tennis is a sport that can use all the extra media attention and even few bad boys. It has been too long from last Kyrgios incident  Grin

Yeah, it was just a part of a celebration I guess. Kyrgios is gone for now, no more antics from him as compared to last year, not just in court but out court revelations (sleeping with a fan), and drama (Nadal bickering).  Grin

Anyone looking at the Istanbul Atp challenger tournament?

Just saw some odds, but I'm not familiar with the players name. Not sure if others are betting or skipping this one.

There's still a lot of tennis tournament going on around, just like the Istanbul ATP challenger.

But as you have said, this kind of tournament are relatively small so no known players are entering. Better just wait for other tournaments in the calendar like the Astana Open, and then we have Moselle Open or the Laver Cup in the US.

What we can know from the celebration is that Medvedev is a big FIFA fan. He won his first-ever grand slam and he wanted to make that more memorable by using something 'unique'.
He said that 'Only legends will understand' and by this, he meant Fifa players obviously. So this is a good sign, bringing something unique rather than the usual celebrations.

Oh indeed, Djokovic was the favorite for everyone. I talked to so many people, I was myself bloody certain he is going to go for the 21st Grand Slam title, and yet Medvedev got in his way. And seriously I just watched his gesture again, that gesture was just peaceful and in no way disrespectful. He even had a double fault to 40 : 30, imagine his pressure. No, that gesture isn't something I'd particularly dislike about his match.

It's better in my opinion to skip these small tournaments for betting. Because you don't know about the player and his opponent. So you are kind of hitting in blank. It's a hit-or-miss chance. So I'm gonna sit around and wait for the upcoming bigger tournaments and bet on them. But yes, if you know about the players or have seen their past matches or stats, you can bet on them Smiley.

Well its not shooting in the blank if you know the players and watch who is in what form especially if its a challenger.
If its a challenger maybe some bigger players drop to that level and try to win it,also always keep a close look on the new young players that have lots of potencial on this kind of tournaments

Yes, myself got burn early on betting on unknown players so I skip this small tournaments, because there are a lot of surprises and that might rekt your parlays.

So for me, yes better wait for mid to big ATP tournaments wherein there's a lot of entry, familiar names that can you can analysis before making your bet. Of course there could be some names that will come up on this smaller tournaments, but it's really unpredictable.

I have tried that before on lesser tournaments with players that were not familiar and
based on the odds of the match. It turned out to be a wasted excersize, some
winners but mostly losses. I stick with the familiar players now.

When I am betting on lower tier tournaments I rely on info from pages like tennis explorer. I check players recent form and especially his proficiency on that particular surface. Then I make bets if I can find value. For instances bookies are basing their odds almost exclusively on player's rank when it comes to players below ATP 200 and you can often find a player ranked 250 who lost all their matches in last 3 months playing against indoor specialist ranked 500. In those situations +5.5 handicap on that indoor specialist is almost free money and ML has lots of value as well. This is drastic example but you can find a couple of badly set odds in early rounds of every small tournaments.

Same here, even If I look for some sites that give tips and predictions about the incoming games or tournaments, still a miss or hit as far as my betting exercise goes. So really not advisable, unless you really throw some money on underdogs and then him the jackpot from those huge odds. Tennis tournaments are held every month, no need to bet on every single one of them. Just use our betting money wisely and we will be good when some big tournament comes. At least just like saving your money and then goes all-in on one great tournament with a lot of high rank players entering.

Tennis is indeed big in UK (together with some other sports including track cycling) and we can only imagine what it would give if Radanescu would be able to win Wimbledon. Last British female winner dates already back from 1977.

It was certainly a big deal when Andy Murray won his first slam (also US Open), and then an even bigger deal when he won Wimbledon the following year. There will be a huge amount of expectation on Raducanu next Wimbledon, but given how she coped with the pressures of the US Open I think she'll be fine. But I think not just the fact of her US Open win, but also - and mainly - the nature of it, will already be a huge catalyst for the women's game here.

Djokovic with high pressure, yes, every no.1 player will get it, it's just how can he manage it, if he frequently gets it, it's not the problem. However, during the match, Djokovic did not seem to be the no.1 player. Medvedev, who should be under pressure, play with relaxation, and going too easy to get 3 sets straight. Djokovic got pressure on himself (his obsession for 21 champion). he must play enjoy without a target.

Djokovic has the experience to overcome the pressure he was getting. It is always normal for top players to be under pressure in these circumstances. Because everyone is wanting you to win right? But Medvedev played like he had nothing to lose. But you also have to take it under consideration that Djokovic doesn't win every single game, he is also a human. He will have games where he doesn't perform as per his level. But I was so wanting that Djokovic wins the game.

Medvedev is handsome.   Smiley
But I did not understand why the hell he collapsed on the court like a dead fish and showed everyone his tongue.   Huh
This is a stupid gesture, I do not approve of it.
Although the victory was certainly a big grief for the Djokovic.
it wasn't that bad, it's just a special way he wanted to celebrate the win with, but let's be honest, it was cringy and i cringe everytime i see it, if someone silly did it like Monfils it would have been okay, but  when Medvedev did it, his charisma went from 100 to 0 Grin

Djokovic has been playing all his career with pressures and that's why he maintain his number 1 position for record weeks already. The problem is that Medvedev is really peaking at this point in his career, that's why he was able to win confidently, although Djokovic trying to mount a comeback in the third set but Medvedev was able to hold. Maybe Medvedev was relax in this game and throughout the tournament because he is a solid all around, just dropping one set in the entire tournament.

Everybody can celebrate in his own way. It was the first grandslam that Medvedev won and he thought to be funny with his "special" celebration. I didn't also really like it, but don't really care.

Yeah, when Andy Murray won Wimbledon, that was a special moment! We need to wait and see what happens; the last couple of grandslams always gave us different winners on the Women side and this US Open was only the 2nd grandslam that Ranucanu has played.

There are two atp 250 tournaments taking place simultaneously, the ATP Metz and the Astana Open. At ATP Metz Andy Murray will play against U. Humbert, even though he lost to tsitsipas at the US Open but his performance is quite good, maybe in this tournament he can achieve another achievement, I feel he is not over yet.

Thanks for this, now I'm looking at the match and there are a lot of interesting schedules as well. Murray vs Humbert, Andy is the underdog, 2.37 odds.

Hard to pick as there are matches that are really close in this tournament. Odds are not that huge and there are a lot of familiar names. So maybe this tournament are good for us bettors again and to start making money.

Good tip!
I have been trying something similar for larger tournaments, as im sure almost
al of us have. Looking for big mismatches in rankings and basing that on the
abilities of those players on a given surface, Clay, Grass or hardcourts.

It takes a little bit of research but it is better than accepting the bookies odds.

The ATP Metz is interesting, Murray will have a good few tough matches to
navigate. I see Sonego is playing Fucsovics today and there are a lot of
big names playing.

His next matcu against Humbert will be interesting for sure, Maybe he can win
this one but I think it will be a tough battle nonetheless.
