Seems like norrie is really at top form he defeated rublev yesterday 2 1 and he was a set behind i did not expect that since rublev was doing really good recently and he will be facing casper ruud who defeated dimitrov 2 1 too and he is really difficult to beat i think we will se another 3 set match.

''World number two Aryna Sabalenka has been ruled out of the Indian Wells Masters after testing positive for Covid-19.''

It's too bad for Sabalenka because she was the first favorite to win this tournament.
Sabalenka said that she is feeling well for now and that she is very sorry that she can't perform in the tournament.

''Britain's US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been given a wildcard into the main draw of the WTA 1000 event.''

Will Raducanu with the new coach and under the burden of high expectations after winning the GS title continue with good games and victories?

''Men's world number one Novak Djokovic, 2018 champion Naomi Osaka and 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams are among others also not competing in the event.''

If Djokovic no longer plays by the end of the year, he could lose first place in the tennis rankings and a chance for a new record.
What do you think?

Yeah, good win as the match goes into a 3 set match.

Norrie was down in the 1st, but he come back strong, 3-6, 6-3,6-4. He saved 3 break points in the 3rd game and that was enough to mentally beat Rublev.

So it will be Ruud vs Norrie, I'm seeing a 3 set match again here, @1.84, good odds again.

I'm predicting a Sinner vs Monfils in the finals.
You deserve good applause because your prediction came true and now both are going to fight in finale for title Sinner is in good touch, and I am feeling very good about him but on other side Monfils is also player who can change things any time, so It's going to be very exciting match between these two for ATP Sofia.

Right now we have one very exciting semi-final between Rublev and Norrie both already won 1 set each and now going for third and final set Rublev was very watchful in first set but Norrie done very good comeback in second, Norrie is playing very good right now and just third game of third set he broke top seed Rubloveand won this match without any threat from top rank player now he is already in finale of ATP San Diego.

Yes, mental issues not just for tennis players, but all other high profile athletes as well, it was a taboo topic before, but thanks to Osaka for bringing this up and accepting and recognizing it and let all the people know, that tennis players are human too and are undergoing a lot.
So let's hope Raducanu will not fall for it, as we have said it is very difficult to cope. She is still young too, a lot of learning experience a long the way.
@aoluain  - I haven't check the tournament, yet, but will see, maybe a couple of bets around.
She isn't the first to do that, but perhaps the one to have done it at the right time. Borg had mental issues as well and he tried to open up, but back at the time it was nothing more but a weakness.
For me personally, there is not enough talk in the whole sports world and elsewhere when it comes to non-perfect human capacity. And sometimes  think that it is exactly the fact that we are not robots which makes us so special ultimately. We just need to draw the right conclusions from all we know instead of insulting people for being weak or losing a game. This counts for all areas in life. How is a person that is always strong and doesn't even know what it feels like to be weak actually help the weak? I have had bad phases, and I am happy I had them. All of them enriched my personality in one or another way and they helped me understand my life and others' lives better.

Top sportspeople like these always have that mental pressure, more compared to normal people like us. So it is pretty normal for them to suffer from depression and stuff. But what's not normal is that often it is overlooked. But also this taboo is now not seen as a taboo as much as before. Raducanu is still young and has many years ahead for her and I hope she can recover from whatever she is going through. And maybe it should be normalized for every player to keep a therapist or a mental advisor.

I wouldn't fully agree with that. The top stars just have another kind of pressure than the average Joe or Susan has. They are filthy rich but a target of the media and every single troll on the internet while the mom with four kids is fighting everyday to gather enough money to feed her kids and pay the bills. Depression is a phenomenon that can be found anywhere wehre subjective pressure exists. Things that stress not necessarily stress you out. That is why tolerance and empathy is so important. And that is also a reason why there is no point in saying "well that guy has millions why is he stressed out?"... Stars can surely be stressed out and they are, but so could everyone else be with much less public focus put on him or her.

Right, surprising defeat, but Norrie has been playing very good in this tournaments, so he made it to the finals with two biggest upsets so far.

Casper Ruud is the second seed, so if by chance Norrie wins again, he has knock out the top 2 seed in Sand Diego Open and the 4th seed as well, Shapovalov. So it seems that Norrie has the momentum here, but I'm seeing Ruud ending Norrie's run in the finals.

I think its really too close to call for either to win, Norrie played great to stop Rublev,
not easy because he was playing quite well himself. Being no.2 seed Ruud should be able
to beat Norrie but yea that doesnt always play out.

The final of the Sofia Tournament just ended with a win for Sinner over Monfils, it was a
convincing and strong win by Sinner, 6-3, 6-4.

''World number two Aryna Sabalenka has been ruled out of the Indian Wells Masters after testing positive for Covid-19.''

It's very unfortunate for Sabalenka. This covid-19 has affected many lives and also the sports, Sabalenka is not indifferent over here. I was pretty sure that she would definitely make the finals in this tournament but maybe not anymore. And Raducanu is a young prodigy. She has got a new and experienced coach and I hope this new coach will help her get to new heights and achieve more in this tournament. Djokovic not playing in this one is very saddening. Does anyone know why exactly he won't play? He is no. 1 right now, but not playing till the end of the year might cost him the position. Medvedev is only 2 thousand points behind him.

@aoluain - Yeah, it was a big win by Sinner, at least we still see him win another tournament as he is slowly building up his confidence and experience. No doubt that he will win against Monfils in the finals, the kid is definitely improving a lot.

In the San Diego Open, Ruud winner in two sets, he just destroys Norrie, 6-2, 6-0, cover the handicap and even the under if you think that Ruud will win in two sets. Still good to see Norrie played very well in this tournament except the finals, maybe he was too drain in the Rublev match.

Djokovic pulling out of the Indian Wells is a big blow to the tournament as they are disappointed to hear that he is skipping for this year. He didn't give any reason, but I will speculate that he just wanted to take a rest, after losing to Medvedev in the US Open. And I think he can still maintain his number 1 ranking at the end of the year.

Fun Fact: And this is the first time since 2000 that we won't see any big 3 in Indian Wells.

Yes I guess Norrie's final was against Rublev. He would have left a lot out on the court
by beating him. Ruud's win over him looks very flattering 6-0, 6-2. Ruud is a quality player,
ranked #10 and winning 5 out of 5 finals this year, thats impressive.

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/58778566

TBH im not put out that Djokovic is missing from IW, I want to see the new players
getting their chances. Whats more interesting is who is in, I.E Raducanu, Fernandez and Medvedev.

That was a surprise for me. Of course Ruud has been great this year, but still, I expected it would be a bit closer than this, even if Ruud was likely to be the winner. I don't think fatigue will play a part as men are used to playing best of 5 set matches in slams, so 3 setters should be no problem.

Ruud is also playing very well this year agree, but with how he dismantle Norrie who is riding on a big win against Rublev is really amazing.

Maybe is more of a psychological thing for Norrie, 6-0 in the second set? We never thought that he can be beaten by that score in the finals. I guess Ruud elevated his game on the second set and Norrie can't catch up.

Pretty unfortunate for tennis fans in general. Not watching Sabalenka or Djokovic is saddening. But I think that he can still remain the no-1 till the end of the year. He got about 2000 points lead of Medvedev in the ranking points and maybe taking a break after that loss in the finals was important to him. Maybe he will freshen up, train harder and come back stronger next year. Pretty saddening to see the big 3 eras almost coming to an end.

agree, he is out, but it counts who is in, to see what they can do
Djokovic will stay on no.1 nevertheless, and he does not need this tournament, and probably he is already tired, he will play more/less GS's next season IMO, other tournament as much he need to keep no.1 on the list, if everything goes well
will be interesting to see who will win it, but I doubt that Medvedev will be the one

It is bad for the tournament that Djokovic pulls out but good for the rest of the field. Why do you think that Medvedev will not win it? I am tempted to place a (small) bet on him as he has the momentum with winning the US Open.

Yea there has been an extended discussion about the loints difference between
Djokovic and Medvedev for the #1 spot, 2000 points foe Medvedev to make up.

Anyway yes It matters who is in, and we can keep an eye on Medvedev, Rublev, Ruud,
Zverev, Tsitsipas, Sinner, Swartzman, FAA.

We have seen too many times where a player wins a tournament and  then in
the following tournament gets knocked out early but Medvedev has had a break
after winning the US open so should be rested, trained and focussed.

''Britain's US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been given a wildcard into the main draw of the WTA 1000 event.''

Will Raducanu with the new coach and under the burden of high expectations after winning the GS title continue with good games and victories?

It will be interesting to see how she copes. As I am from the UK, I hope she continues to win Smiley. Certainly there is a weight of expectation on her now, but I believe she is seeded (despite being a wildcard), which should in theory give her an easy-ish match to start with to settle any nerves.

https://talksport.com/sport/tennis/956469/emma-raducanu-news-tim-henman-indian-wells-coach/

After reading this article its clear that Raducanu doesnt actually have a full time
coach in place for Indian Wells, does anyone else find that bizzare?

Parting ways with your coach who helps you win the U.S Open bringing you to a
#1 UK ranking and not have someone to take his place.

From the article Henman is suggesting Raducanu will be making serious considerations
as to her coaching later in the year, sounds like he thinks Indian Wells is just for a bit of
practice and making an appearance....

Anyway the eyes of the tennis world will be on her, hooefully she can deal
with that and ignore it on the court.
