-snip Well, Alcaraz won 6:4, 7:5 but Khachanov also played really well.
winning when you are not playing great is a real champion, and that is what missing in Tsitsipas or Medvedev Alcaraz made it through this round, Coric is SF, and probably Tsitsipas in final, looking at other half of the draw Tsitsipas is a good bet today, but has no value, due to low odds, he should certianly win, but 2:0 is not his usual, so handicap option is not good and winning odds are low And we have seen it so many times with Federer, Nadal and Djokovic where they come close to losing a match but are able to dig deep, never give up and fully believe they can rescue a possible lost match. Alcaraz clearly has it, Tsitsipas and Medvedev I believe have that attitude but dont have that extra talent, Medvedev has it on hard courts though, clay is not his favourite type of playing surface. Alcaraz is certainly going to be the next big superstar of tennis. I actually think that there might be a time when he will actually go without having too many competitive games. The legends that we had in the game are retiring one by one. And I do not think there is anyone right now who can actually give a good competition to Alcaraz. At least not right now. The talent which he has shown so far is really incredible. His skills are also almost unmatched. Not even Tsitsipas or Medvedev.

Just watched the final set of Struff v Tsitsipas, and Tsitsipas is out in 3 sets! and again as we talked about he fails to being the killer instinct which Alcaraz has when the going is tough in the match.
Struff did well, his service game was quite good, lots of aces and he actually has a good record against Tsitsipas. He has been unlucky with injuries and is 33! so kind of deserves this semi final spot.
Funny thing about his next match is that he meets the guy who beat him in the qualifiers, Karatsev ! (struff got through the qualifiers after been beaten as a lucky looser)

Jan-Lennard Struff - Stefanos Tsitsipas
Jan-Lennard Struff comes into this game occupying position number 65, but in the past he reached the position number 29. With 33 years old he is being a surprise in this ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid, he managed to beat: Lorenzo Sonego , ben Shelton, Dusan Lajovic and Pedro Cachin. while Stefanos Tsitsipas comes into this game much more positioned in the ranking, he currently occupies the number 5 position and has already been in a better position in the past when he arrived from occupying the number 3 position, he also managed to beat his opponents without much difficulty, but despite the fact that before this game he was favored
the odd for him to win the game was very low, to get an idea of what I'm talking about he had an odd of @1.22 it was something like a guaranteed victory, I believe that some people must have even placed a bet on him thinking it would be a very safe bet , but even with very low odds, in games something unpredictable can always happen and in this game it happened that Stefanos Tsitsipas lost, it's good that lately I'm resting from placing bets, every 3 or 4 months I stop placing bets at least for a few months , it helps me with my self control and prevented me from becoming addicted to gambling, I won't be back to betting until September or October

Semifinals between Struff and Karatsev gonna be interesting, and this time it looks like Struff is the best pick to be the winner of the semi-final. Karatsev have got good record winning against Medvedev, Zhang to reach the semi-final. Lets see what is the outcome of the final match. In the other match Alcaraz to take on Coric, who had proved his ability against Fokina to reach the quarter finals. The quarter finals isn't that fighting. The women's final between Iga Swiatek and Kudemtrova have come to an end. Iga Swiatek have beaten Kudemtrova 6-1 6-1 which is an one sided match. Her winning continues along with the Stuttgart Open win.

Yes, that was really a great performance from Struff. I am always happy when older tennis players who never belonged to the top 5 have such a great success. In this match he had a lot of confidence and stayed very calm. Even when he was behind in the tiebreak and Tsitsipas had several break points he continued to play very confidently. The match against Karatsev will be exciting.

Can we expect something different in the semi-final between Alcaraz and Coric? After being injured and being able to win atp 1000 Cincinnati in 2022 Coric hasn't shown anything impressive yet but when he can beat Fokina who is also the favorite because the host tennis player gives a little hope that there will be tough resistance he can give when he faces Alcaraz later, the two players have never met before, didn't expect it to only go down to two sets as the odds from the bookmakers show that it will be a very easy match for Alcaraz because he is far favorite as he has odds @1.09 whereas Coric @9.80, but if Coric plays at his best level he is very might put up a tight fight so the match went through the decider.
While the other semi-final between the two unseeded players should be an even match, Struff impressed in defeating one of the favorites Tsitsipas and Karatsev has also remained solid so far, and this is also the first meeting so it will be a little difficult to predict who will qualify, and the odds from the bookmakers provide an opportunity for any of these two tennis players to reach the final, the two players made history because this is the best achievement in a major tournament.

Alcaraz made it look easy and pass to the finals, where he is waiting for Struff or Karatsev, they are playing third set to decide on that no matter who pass, Alcaraz will certainly be a favorite to defend his title, but will lack five points to go to no.1
but with this form, and clay season in front, it will eventually happen

Well i guess we will see a final between Alcaraz and Struff. This will be really intresting because of the playstyle of both players. Also fun fact is that Struff is the first ever player to reach the final as a lucky loser. Really big luck to get into the draw and get so far especially when he is not that good on this surface.

For now how hard will be the competence from Struff. He's lucky, and he have played good. In most of the matches played by Struff, the result came out of the deciding set. He hadn't won any match easier. Against Tsitsipas it was a tie breaker in the first set and the he won the match. The final too can be expected to be a hard fighting match and the end result to be in favour of Alcaraz.

On the womens side its Swiatek v Sabalenka, that should be a cracking match, Sabalenka has been very consistent for a while now and Swiatek has been really great in Madrid and is favourite.

Are you following the situation around Nadal? The status of his injury is still unclear and it is uncertain whether he will recover in time to compete at the French Open. The latest news is that Nadal has given up on the Italian Open and has not played a single tennis match for almost 4 months. Nadal claims that the situation with his injury is improving and that he will be ready for the French Open, which starts in 3 weeks, but the question is how ready he will actually be after 4 months of not playing official tennis matches. Considering his injury, I think Alcaraz could be the main favorite in Paris this year. Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/65502314

Alcaraz had little trouble with Coric in the semifinals. The round before that was a different story. He was then trailing 5-3 in the 2nd set and his opponent was allowed to serve for the set, but Alcaraz broke back and pulled back that line and still won the set 7-5. It turns out that he is already very strong mentally, and that at that age. Then you are destined to be a really great tennis champion. Or maybe already is, because it is not for nothing that he is 1st in the world ranking. Still, he wasn't the best teen ever, when you compare it to titles won in tennis. Nadal won more, 15 as a teenager. But Bjorn Borg even won 16 as a teenager. Still, that is difficult to compare, I think the competition in Nadal's time and also with Alcaraz is much bigger than before. Would the level now also be higher than in the time with Agassi and Sampras, for example?

I would try that huge odd on Struff. He will definetly try to attack Alcaraz with his serve and volley and it will be intresting too see how Alcaraz would react to this kind of gameplay because you dont see that so often on clay. Also on the womens side i think it will be a close match but going with Swiatek in it.

Nothing to be surprised about: Karatsev apparently picked up an injury. He had elastic bands around his thigh and also some tape around his biceps. He also called a physio for a medical timeout. But of course Struff played quite well too, I can't say he didn't deserve to win. Speaking about the final, I'm pretty sure a person in his/her right mind will bet on Alcaraz. But, let me remind me what happened earlier this year in Rio when Carlitos played Norrie, got injured during the final and lost the match. So, you never know what is going to happen. Swiatek v Sabalenka also seems pretty straightforward to me: Iga has been very consistent lately and I believe she will win in it straight sets. Sabalenka until now has been quite hesitant from the start but eventually she gained momentum and later into the match she was ok (like for example against Andreeva). But still my bet will be on Swiatek.

It is actually very hard to imagine that he will actually be 100% ready for the French Open. The French Open is going to start in only three weeks. I definitely doubt he is going to be ready 100% before that time. Nadal is claiming that his injury situation is improving. But it is certainly doubtful. There is a chance that he is saying it because he wants to perform in the French Open. There is certainly no doubt that Alcaraz is going to be the favourite in Paris. I don't think there is anyone who will actually give him very hard competition, to be honest.

I watched the first set only of Struff v Karatsev and thought Struff wasnt going to be able to win with a second chance against the Russian. I was surprised to see the result this morning, another massive win by the German.
Is anyone gonna speculate a bet on Struff to take the title? He is a massive 8.6 on Rollbit.
On the womens side its Swiatek v Sabalenka, that should be a cracking match, Sabalenka has been very consistent for a while now and Swiatek has been really great in Madrid and is favourite.
I think those odds are spot on and Alcaraz will take this one easy. I will probably skip this match or maybe take first set handicap on Struff, if he does something it will have to be at the start of the match while that serve and volley surprise tactics still works. Funny thing Struff shouldn't have even entered the tournament. He lost last qualification round to Karatsev and just got in as lucky looser after somebody withdrew from tournament. Sure had a nice revenge yesterday

tennis player Anisimova confirms she is taking an indefinite break from playing tennis due to mental issues/stress. the player at only 21 yeara has achieved moderate successes in her career, and is in the top 50. at these levels it is really difficult to keep up with the " pace" and visibility reached. https://www.wtatennis.com/news/3322468/anisimova-announces-indefinite-break-from-tennis

Sure had a nice revenge yesterday This is a nice surprise to see him in the final, not least because of what you just said. All the circumstances that brought him there, but see that's how it can go. You lose the qualifier round, but then you beat Tsitsipas, who is one of the best clay players on the tour right now. The issue about Struff is that he also was way to inconsistent throughout his career. He had a couple of games that I watched from the beginning till the end because they were real thrillers, but usually he is getting eliminated quite early on during the tournaments. But you know what is really concerning in terms of German tennis: Struff only needs to win 4 games against Alcaraz in the final and he would already have done a better job than Zverev. Of course I know very well that Alcaraz is too much to handle for Zverev right now, but going home with 1-6 and 2-6 is too hard. Too bad that Nadal won't be starting in Rome either. I am not sure whether we will ever get to see a big final between him and Alcaraz, but given that Nadal wouldn't be seeded very highly, a final is probably never going to happen again between the two. They'd rather face each other early on.

Good decision from the player at the right time. At the young age getting into mental issues/stress needs to be addressed. Success comes, but our health needs to be given utmost preference. She gained attention at the Rollands Garros on winning against defending champion Halep and she was just 17 years of age. She withdrew from the tournament later due to the death of her father. Such incidents too could've been hurting her. She had also shared it on her Instagram.

Sabalenka won the title in Madrid by beating Swiatek in 3 sets 6:3, 3:6, 6:3. Quite an unexpected result if you ask me, my bet was on Iga (see post above). Sabalenka started very agressively, first set was rather easy. In the beginning of the second, Iga managed to break her opponent and was leading 3:0. However the Belarussian managed to come back 3:3, only to lose in the ending 3:6. In the 3rd it was the other way round - Aryna got ahead 3:0 and Swiatek managed to come back and make it 3:3 but then lost 3:6. Congrats to the Belarussian, who turned 25 earlier in Madrid. Nice birthday present, huh? Men's final tomorrow.
