I'm sad to see this, Austin wants out of the Lakers and that's why he has declined that contract extension. He's looking for a max contract. I just hope that he won't end up just like Dennis Schroder with his decline that he's done for the extension. No, he's not looking for a max contract because what the Lakers offered to him is already a max contract. There's an eligibility for that, and the Lakers decided to offer the max contract allowed for Reeves this off season, which is understandable because of what he contributes to the team since landing on the Lakers, especially the recent season to postseason. The management is even generous at that point. If he accepts that, he will start again from a new contract for 4 years. But Reeves has another plan: = decline the "new contract" which is the max contract that the Lakers recently offered, and stay on his original contract (2023-2027) = played out on the year before his original contract expires (2025-2026) = then decline his player option (2026-27) After that, he will become an unrestricted free agent, and there will be more big offers to come off-season compared to accepting a new contract now worth $90M for 4 years again. It's also a win-win situation for him as at the end of his original contract, and let's say he played well, he will be eligible for a much higher contract that the Lakers can give. But for that plan to happen, Reeves needs to be consistent. Different case on Dennis Schroder, as way back in time he turned down the big offer, there are no teams showing interest in getting him prior to the Lakers offer but still declined it.

Rockets commited one of the biggest mistake in their franchise, having Durant now on their line up will cost them huge price. They added to their roster and old and fragile player while giving out their star player and future young core. We all know KD, only one successful trade with him is the GSW, and why ? its not him to make it, he just joined a champion team. He can't make a weak team to a Championship calibre! he is not that guy. + he is old now and injury prone.
This is 100% what I believe too. Durant is great there is no doubt about that, I do not think he will be bad, but he is 36 years old, and either they win the title this season, or he is gone, that dude can't be good forever, he has to grow old, and every season is going worse for him now. Whereas, Jalen Green was a future star for them, he had all the make up of a great all star and maybe even a superstar status, like SGA , obviously that is doubtful and not known, but at least an all-star level player we know that. The difference is, obviously Durant at his peak, is on a whole another level, he deserves a top 20 ever to play the game discussion, and Green will never be like that. But Green could give you 10 more good years, Durant can't, and Rockets made a mistake that way.

What do you think about Cooper Flagg being drafted by the Dallas Mavericks? Would this be a big boost to the team, will they be back in the playoffs again, or even become a championship team? If you look at it, it's only Luka who left; next season they will have a healthy Davis, Irving, and the rookie Cooper Flagg.
Since Cooper Flag is a top prospect in the next rookie draft picks, and might become the Number 1 overall pick, we can say "on paper' that he will be a big boost for the Dallas Mavericks. But again, that expectation is simply because he's a top prospect and we don't know if he will be able to keep up with that expectation once he plays for the team. Mavericks currently also have 2 superstars, though injury-prone, still caliber players, and lots of solid role players. We might not expect to see Cooper Flag in action playing several minutes for the Mavericks if they are all present on the court. Compare to other teams, for example, getting top prospects like Zion for the Pelicans and Morant for the Memphis, they are being assigned major roles right away because no other superstars on their respective teams when they got drafted. Again, just analysis. We don't know what will happen. And also adding to that, depending on how the coach will maximize his use, like you said, Zion and Ja' both played huge minutes when they being drafted, the coaches gave them exposures and their minutes really gave them the chance to showcase their skills, let see if how Mavs management will maximize him and how he'll be able to blend his playing style with those veteran stars that he'll be playing with.

Austin Reeves declining a 4 year $90,000,000 contract extension pretty much ends his days in Los Angeles. I think they’re going to have to trade him so they don’t risk losing him for nothing. That gives the Lakers some interesting roster possibilities. We’ll have to wait a few months to see just what they can do with this.
As if Lakers will offer big to him considering they have Luka on the roster. Lakers will indeed just trade him and get a playoffs piece player that can support Luka since they literally don’t have much defense in AR15. Maybe AR15 wants to change team so that he can fully grow which is a gamble in my opinion since there’s no guarantee that he can receive same spotlight on Lakers to showcase his skills.

The story of Maluach is touching. Coming from South Sudan and through NBA academy. Another touching story the same as Pascal Siakam. This big guy has touched a lot of life after being picked by the Houston Rockets, he get traded to the Phoenix Suns. I hope that the Suns will make him part of the rebuilding of the roster. I remember they also have got Bol Bol last season but they didn't signed him again.

Cooper Flagg mic'd up. Hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Xs3mqor9ZgQ "It's coming down, I am sweating." I just finished watching all the highlights of Flagg, and I can say they are truly mesmerizing. A force of nature. A lethal offensive and defensive weapon. He likes attacking the paint, but there's a lot of room for improvement. We can already see how much potential there is in this kid. I just wish he enjoys being a professional now and creating his own path as the future star of the NBA. Please, no curse of the number 1 pick.

Maybe he feels he deserves more, and honestly, I think so too. He’s a solid role player and averaged 20.2 points last season. It’s not just the points, his rebounds and assists also went up this year. Even though Reaves says he wants to stay and play his whole career in L.A., at the end of the day, business is business. If I were in his position, I’d probably do the same. Secure the bigger bag while you can, because it's the same for any team, business is business.

While everyone is optimistic about his future career. Only time can tell and most of the round 1, number 1 picks career didn't go well except for the few. We wish him the best, he's been destined to be picked as the overall #1 for this NBA draft class. And in our country, it's become a headline when Dylan Harper was picked second, #proudtobepinoy. LOL

Whether the Lakers to decide to trade or keep Austin Reaves, it really doesn't matter, the most certain thing is that Austin Reaves is currently worth way more than his current contract and he definitely would get his bag from the somewhere else if the Lakers doesn't offer him another contract next season.

Look at the last 25 years and then think again. You got: Victor Wembanyama Paolo Banchero Cade Cunningham Anthony Edwards Zion Williamson (I think he still can be great) Karl-Anthony Towns Andrew Wiggins Anthony Davis Kyrie Irving John Wall Blake Griffin Derrick Rose Dwight Howard LeBron James Yao Ming All these guys had good careers (so far), almost (or maybe not almost) all of them have been allstars as well. That's 15/25.

Because the majority of those players on the list are being drafted in a team where not much Superstar or All-Star caliber on board. The moment these guys started their career in the NBA, they were put right away in the main lineup, given the opportunity to showcase their talents, and given more playing time in their early phase of their career. Different from Cooper if ever will be drafted by the Mavericks this year. He can't shine right away because, looking at the Mavericks roster right now, they have solid caliber players like Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and deep bench role players. I hope he won't become a version 2.0 of Darko Milicic.

By the way, the Mavs' results this past season clearly showed what they are all about.

These guys you have mentioned might be injury-prone, but if they are all present on the floor, do you think Cooper will have a good playing time? I said that statement because of the difference in the rookie environment of those previous top picks on the list shared above, which I quoted.

I can still feel the sadness over the issue before with Dennis Schroder, But the guy did not hesitate and prove people they are wrong. from a big contract to cheaper player paid in NBA. he still give what he can and even show his talent in Fiba world. I hope Reeves will not suffer the same thing.

Definitely, he will be big for the Mavericks next season, and there are a lot of hype on him as we have seen how good he is in his college days. So all eyes on him and I saw a post like how the Dallas will be with this rookie. They already have AD and then Klay, and hopefully if Kyrie can play next season, then that is a formidable starting five.
However, I think the NBA Draft's attention was stolen by Dylan Harper's mom, Lol. There are a lot of posts in our social media, like his mom is a certified baddie. . In any case, Dylan is another half Filipino who is going to play in the NBA so the country must be proud of him.

Perhaps he is willing to take the risk and not accept the offer of the Lakers. And obviously, he is looking for a big paycheck, so let's see. For sure he believes that he deserved more money that the Lakers has to offer for him. Just like what Caruso did, now he is a 2 time champion with OKC. Hopefully though this is a good decision for Reaves as we have seen how he improved to be one of the best player for the Lakers. But I guess with Luka, it might be too crowded for the two of them and so Reaves decided to try the free market.

This is perfect time for him to do that action especially he's known to be a major contributor to his team and provably that lots of team would offer him a nice contract and good playing time. He won't also get good growth on Lakers especially that they are to focus on Luka and Bron. That's why its really better for him to test the market and go to the team that can possibly use him and try to grow their. Its risky but if he didn't try nothing will happen on his career.

Reaves turning down an offer like that makes me hope we don't see a repeat of what happened with Schroder. He declined that $84M extension over four years after the Lakers won the championship, and it ended up being one of the biggest mistakes of his NBA career. Since then, he hasn't really been able to land a solid contract. Hopefully Reaves doesn’t follow that same path.
