Jalen Williams has agreed to a 5-year maximum rookie contract extension that could reach $287 million. This was expected and the Thunder managed to keep one of the key pieces that helped them win the championship. The salary cap will soon become an issue for them. They knew they wouldn't be able to keep this championship roster together for long. Some players will leave and they'll rely on the development of newly drafted players. The Thunder can contend for the championship again next season, but it will be harder after that. Considering that we've been seeing different finalists every year, that trend could easily continue next season too.

Devin Booker has agreed to a two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension with the Phoenix Suns.
Devin Booker is under contract through the 2029-30 season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed Jalen Williams. The Thunder have started shelling out money.
I don't think the Thunder will win a championship in the next two or three seasons. My gut tells me so.
It’s not that Booker is undeserving, but I think that’s too much. Statistically, he’s okay, but I don’t see him carrying a team with how strong the West teams are performing right now. I don’t know, that’s just me.

As for the Thunder, they really locked in their Big 3 this time. I somewhat agree with you. Actually, a healthy Warriors team with Butler has a chance to beat them in a nest of 7 series. I might be a little biased here, but there’s some weight to it. Hopefully, they’ll get a decent center next season.

Damn, almost $1 billion for OKC's Big Three SGA, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren. Well deserved, right? Unlike Devin Booker, lol.
Hopefully, OKC can pull off backtoback championships since their roster is still intact. Who do you think will be their closest competition in the standings?
I'm think its Rockets again although there's so many changes in Rockets.. It's almost certain OKC will make the playoffs again given how consistent they are.
As they say, SGA is the most consistent player out there.

The closest in papers is the rocket with Kevin Durant, if the young players will play the same defense last year they can go head to head with OKC, not to mention clippers with leonard with no reports of injury, the mavs will also be tested without kyrie, in the east i can't point a team who can match them west is really always ready, hoping there will be another team in the east, to have a good finals.

Yeah, around $822 million for their big 3, I guess they will have to like look for role players along the way that can provide more on defense for them. So it's a big gamble but it's more than they are willing to go and shell out that huge money. Right now we haven't seen back to back championship and it's very hard to accomplished in this era. But let's see, if this three are lock in and be healthy next season, then I guess the OKC has a big chance to repeat and that big money is worth it. I do agree, Booker hasn't proved anything yet to get that huge 2 year contract from the Suns. But the noise is still with the OKC next season as they will be the target of many teams to beat because they are the defending champion.

The first summer league game for number 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg was not the game he was hoping for. He only shot 5/21, not even 25% from the field. It already started bad when in the first minute Bronny James scored twice over him. Fun fact though Bronny started 2/2 and finished 2/8, classic.

Anyway, welcome to the NBA Cooper, it can only get better from this one, that's for sure. At least Dallas won in the end.

Oh my God…

The Oklahoma City Thunder just gave Jalen Williams a five-year max rookie extension that could reach $287,000,000. This puts their “big 3” under contract for $822,000,000 over the next five years. This has got to be the absolute worst use of money I’ve ever seen in the NBA. I get that they just won a championship, but for that amount of money all three of them better end up in the GOAT conversation.

Who knows, maybe they are thinking big for the three of them that will dominate the league in the next 5 years. Remember that previously, they have the best record but just feel short because they lack the experience.

But in this season, they are very different, stomping teams with double digit lead, got the best record and then won the championship. It's also a trifecta for SGA, so OKC knows that they will need to keep them to be able to win and so they are willing to give them that huge payday.

I guess money is not a concern, every year the salary of the player increases.

It's now clear that OKC wants to lock in their championship lineup and fill out their salary cap by retaining their players instead of getting new ones. Maybe OKC is just full of gratitude for what happened on their franchise having their first championship title as an OKC franchise with the help of these young cores, that's why they will continue to bet on them in the next several seasons.

There's also a possibility that if one of these three is improved next season and will enter free agency, they might look at other teams (with a better offer), that's why OKC already locked them up for the next 5 seasons. A gamble but a wise move.

The Indiana Pacers came back from a 10-point deficit with 2:38 remaining in the summer league to win 116-115 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Although Haliburton will be away next season, Indiana looks set to continue making legendary returns.

Well, Bronny can be called a stable player, considering he performed about the same way in the summer league last year.
As for Cooper, I was surprised by his stats. More specifically, he made so many shot attempts in this game, which is unusual for a rookie.

Not sure about that. Haliburton is a big part of why the Pacers ended up as Eastern Conference champion and eventually played in the NBA Finals. His performance throughout the season, playoffs, and finals is remarkable, and missing him next season is a big blow for the team.

The Summer league is designed to give NBA newly drafted picks (including sophomores and G-League affiliates players) to showcase their talents before the actual NBA season. Superstars, All-stars, key players, and role players of any team aren't involved in the games here. We can't take the game results here as a reference for what the team will do next season.

He’s been given the green light, and rightfully so.. he’s not just any rookie; he’s the number 1 overall pick. Most likely, he’ll be a starter right away, and this is the perfect time for him to get used to the NBA style and really familiarize himself with the system.

as for Bronny, man, I hope he gets more playing time next season and becomes more stable.. it’s tough seeing him constantly criticized, he’s clearly living under the shadow of his father, and that kind of pressure isn’t easy to carry.

Agreed. In addition for Haliburton absence, Indiana also lost their center Miles Turner which contributed too with their good run on the previous season.

I think Indiana coach will now fully utilized Toppin and Mcconell with their new line-up. But their bench will become weak so I believe it will be very hard for them to continue their good run just like before.

They are lucky if they can even go to playoffs.

They are lucky if they can even go to playoffs.
They understand the situation they are in, so they also don't expect to make the playoffs because they can justify it. It was a gamble to still play Haliburton in the finals even though he was already injured, and now they will be paying for a whole season without him. That will have a big impact because ticket sales will likely drop if they can't be as competitive as before.

This is a very bad decision for their team to risk their star player health that will cost his total career in the future. He will received negative criticism regardless if he will play or not if they lose the game so he should just sit on the bench and trust his teammate.

He can also just play on crucial time like 4th quarter and very minimal minutes every quarter to lessen his foot pressure.

Indiana needs a lot of Nesmith magic 3 if they want to still compete in the playoffs.

With such details at hand, Indiana is nearly out of the contest, so to speak.

Even though their regular finish was solid (50-32, as far as I remember), they are not the contenders they were with him at his best.

Indiana needs a lot of Nesmith magic 3 if they want to still compete in the playoffs.
Not gonna happen as they don’t have the kind of player who can create those shots for him. It was Haliburton who made things work for the team. Even if he wasn’t always scoring a lot, his presence on the court made everything flow smoothly, and that includes Nesmith getting clean looks at the basket.

Actually, it’s not just him, Indiana as a whole relies heavily on three-point shooting. That’s one of the reasons they ranked number one in offense, if I’m not mistaken. Without Haliburton orchestrating the plays, their whole dynamic changes.

Yeah, I think this is the reason or ultimatum why Haliburton decided to risk it all since he and the management knew that it will be difficult to repeat again their solid run on this year season because their normal play is not the same to the performance they show in playoffs to beat strong teams and timing their injured star player.

They are super lucky this year to be on Finals which they blowup their chance to win it.

You have just ended Haliburton's career there if he does that even by force lol.

He tore his Achilles and not just a simple foot pressure. He might not even stand properly the whole season. And even let's say he can play, the crucial time is the most physical part of the game, as every ball possession is a must to score.

I guess that is the price they have to pay, I mean nobody really thought that they will go to the finals but they did. And it's thru their resiliency. But now Haliburton is going to be injured again or at least trying to recover but the time table is going to be longer than expected and he won't be available next season. And with the departure of Myles Turner, it's going to be very hard for them to duplicate that finals appearance and it's very unfortunate that Haliburton has sacrifice himself for that. So it's going to be a crazy Eastern conference, Jayson Tatum is also down with the same injuries. And I don't know why we have a lot of players in the last decade or so having this kind of injuries. There are some old school of thoughts that it's due to players using just mid cut to low cut shoes as opposed in the 90's to early 2000's that players are using high cut shoes. Not sure though if that is one factors that could we attributed achilles injuries.
