If ethereum classic decides to fork, it won't survive very long. It is already wobbling, barely standing as it is.
It depends on the type of the hard fork. If it is for the good of the whole network, it will certainly survive. Regardless-I think it's safer to stick with ethereum at this point whether you are investor or trader. and i bet on ethereum classic . i think that will make a better profit. Why do you think so?As up to me I judge based on fundamentals although clasic is original ethereum chain it is a new in terms of who works on it.But that's only short time bet. etc wasnt under attack till last week but eth is under attack for weeks now. we just can guess why. but eth is since summer busy fixing bugs and stop attacks and i dont think that will stop in the near future. maybe the fork now will give eth a break . dont get me wrong i wish eth the best. didnt agree with what they did to solve the dao desaster but its past. i think etc wasnt the aim of the attack it was just in the way. as soon as the fork is done the attacker will focus on eth again . etc can and will grow. eth will survive this too but i guess etc will make faster and better profit for investors. at the moment . how it will be in a couple of years . who knows. and the attacks are good on the long run . lets be honest ethereum was coded very fast and now that attacker finds all the bugs and they have to fix them better now then later . Thanks for input-all points are valid.Actualy my argument was stupid for a short run lol, becouse you have to look at the charts too and ETC a lot better placed for correction up.

Will they use the ETH code to hard fork or create their own code to deal with the current DDoS attack?
According to ETC dev splix, they use the same standard (EIP-150), but are working on their own implementation over ETC codebase. Because ETC geth code is already fork-aware, implementation of new fork logic could be done in a much cleaner way. EF codebase is structured differently, it is not really fork-aware, so their implementation involves a bit of hacks. Because ETC hard fork is delayed compared to ETH, it will be possible to see the effects of EIP-150 hard fork on ETH first and correct ETC HF implementation if there are some problems. So, in a way, ETH serves as a test net for ETC.

Why should the fun end when there could be another chain up for grabs? "The Ethereum development team officially postponed the execution of EIP150, a hard fork designed to increase the gas cost of transactions, setting the target block to 2463000." REF: https://cointelegraph.com/news/experts-criticize-ethereum-hard-fork-coinbase-warns-network-instabilityWe are currently at block 2450803 on the ETH chain (at time of posting) It looks like coinbase will support the most stable chain. Anyone fancy mining ETC2?

There is still time to get a node up and running to solo mine. As the masses leave the chain the difficulty will fall and you should start catching blocks once the hash rate is low enough. The attacker will follow the hashrate to the new chain or face having to attcak 3 chains, (" new ETH", " ECT" and " Doa fork chain ECT2") A very good way to combat the attacker? Ramp up their overheads? Anyhow as soon as the exchanges see ETC2 they will list it and you can start selling your block and Uncle rewards. Just go get the popcorn and a beer, sit back and watch the fun begin. Anyone feeling a bit of Déjà vu?

Thank you for the heads up roselee. I have been mining on a Chinese Pool (91) and have no complaints. They are very good, with no attacks and they pay on time too. etcwin will be good for classic. im in! The ICO starts on tomorrow 17.10.2016 http://bizhongchou.com/deal-show/id-367.html"The project shall start at 23:59 on 23rd November 2016 prior to successfully obtaining the support of 800000ETC!"
