Obyte itself doesn't do bets, 2 persons can make a P2P bet by paring their Obyte wallets or by using a Sports Betting bot in Obyte wallet. Obyte is not between those bets in any other way than just having an oracle that posts sports results to DAG, but anybody could become a sports oracle, which anybody else could use for P2P bets or for their bot, so Obyte being currently also a sports oracle is just to show what is possible, there are some other sport oracles on Obyte, but nothing permanent https://obyte.io/oracles

You get the biggest benefit of using Obyte on some betting platform when you use it's smart-contract capabilities. If you use Obyte just as another payment option on centralized betting platform then it really doesn't make much sense. Any bookie could become a bet maker and provide more liquidity on Sports Betting bot by implementing this API https://github.com/Papabyte/betting-bot-API/blob/master/COMMANDS.md

I know the bet feature through bot in Obyte wallet, that was available in late of 2017 or very early months of 2018 (if I am remembering correctly). I just think that if Obyte team can make partnerships with casinos, that accepted crypto currencies, Obyte project might get some sorts of benefits. There are so many online casinos that accept crypto currencies, and they have been in the forum for years. If such partnerships don't have risks on reputation of Obyte, why not think of it? P2P bets are not enough to expand use cases of Obyte, at least in case of betting.

During the past week, developer Tarmo has been doing Obyte workshops in Estonia with a Japanese high school student, Akira.  After 4 days of non-stop workshops, this 16 year old student with no prior Node.js experience left Estonia with many new skills under his belt. From this workshop's news, it is the first time I know that @tarmo888 is one of Obyte developers. Previously, I thought @tarmo888 is just a loyal member in Obyte community. I have still waited to get more good news from Obyte Radio Show.
The chart of Obyte gives me strong belief on coming rally of Obyte by itself, and with potentially closely altcoin season. Someone who currently still doubt on probabilty to rally of Obyte and hesitate to invest in Obyte now or in coming weeks, will have to regret about such decision.

You are missing out a lot of news if you just read Bitcointalk thread, you should be subscribed to newsletter, Twitter, Medium or join Discord to be up to date who has done what.

About the price, it is definitely best time than ever to acquire as many Bytes as possible (many probably will regret in the future that they didn't take part of AA developer contest), but the price rally depends on what you are hoping to gain - is it more BTC or USD? Some people here are only after more BTC.

Usually, altcoins lose more BTC value during bear markets because when BTC falls, altcoins fall more. When BTC pumps, altcoins can pump more (BTC ATH was in December 2017, altcoins ATH was in January 2018), but that usually happens with a lag and alts pumps are bigger because they started from lower.
While it is possible that Obyte can do new GBYTE/USD all-time-highs (1k USD per GB is not insane goal to reach again when BTC would be 100k USD - 3x GBYTE/BTC gain), doing new GBYTE/BTC all-time-high is less realistic when BTC/USD is also going up. This means that BTC needs to fail and be replaced by something else in order to make new GBYTE/BTC all-time-high, which I don't think will happen in near future.
Maybe a new GBYTE/BTC all-time-high is possible when BTC becomes stable SOV, which probably don't happen before next 10 years either, so until then enjoy your USD gains with alts.

I don't remember saying that when the price was $275 per GBYTE (when I started contributing code to Obyte in April 2018), which IMHO should be fair price for it now, but thanks to FUDsters, it is much lower.
If I did say that when I became officially a part-time developer for Obyte in November 2018 then the prices was already 30-40 range, so it totally makes sense to repeat that, that's dirt cheap and you should get as much as you can at this price.

And maybe that's the difference of you and me - I contribute more code to it as the price goes down, You contribute more FUD as it goes down. And I thank you for that, more bytes to those who actually do something that benefits the project. It is good that new witnesses are added, but I guess nobody knows these people who are now becoming witnesses. This is not a problem as such, but if I remember well there was once upon a time the idea that also big institutions would partecipate as witnesses (or perhaps this was just in my mind)
Given that times are not mature for that, did you consider trying to get on board as a witness also people who are well known and trusted in the crypto community?
For example Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, who has emerged as one of the quite respected leaders of this space, and has always shown interest towards new projects with new and interesting technology.

As for most of the activity being on Discord that's a pity, since Discord doesn't really leave a quite immutable trail of the history of the discussions like here on BCT. Best place would be a BCT moderated thread, so that any garbage can be filtered out but the meaningful discussions remain and can be read also in future.
