Altcoins will be finished when Titan arrives....Think about it.
Bitcoin will be finished when ASICs arrive.... Think about it. Since you will be converting LTC to BTC, clearly, a scenario where LTC/BTC ratio will dramatically decrease is more plausible. Mining with expensive rigs looks less and less attractive as a hobby. I can play with my ants, contribute a few coins for the benefit of mankind, pay a small tax fee, etc. Maybe, but the price of Bitcoin didn't dramatically decrease when ASICs showed up. There may be an initial rush but it's all going to level out in the end. All the ASICs really do is prevent the average Joe from participating. Once that happens they'll likely move off onto other Alts.

What you are saying is surely true, but then again, there wasn't a Bigger crypto to convert to either. also... 320 plus alts now could stove that off a bit, so... who knows, it will be fun to watch

BTW... We all have been over the mining taxation...... straight income tax tallied daily on BTC price sounds scary to me. Digging into the tax code... looks like capitol gains(as in buy & hold BTC) is much easier to swallow than income tax(Mining) As a result, there will surely be less American miners soon, and pushed more towards the corporate, large farm level....uuuggh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_gains_tax_in_the_United_StatesTime to move to Denmark. http://www.coindesk.com/denmark-declares-bitcoin-trades-tax-free/With this doggone tax thing, it would make doing the books a real pain in the butt if you use Bitcoin at Starbucks and Amazon, etc. like it was meant to be..... I think this ruling needs some tweaking for sure Mining..... *It's not currency, but we're taxing it as income..." uggh 20, 25, 30% where are you? and when buying to hold.... it better be for a year or more, or its taxed just like income as well under capitol gains... Capitol gains on BTC is like taxing me when the value of my '77 Ranchero goes up yearly. But they sure do it on Wall street every day buying & selling commodities... acceptable if not a gouge. hold 1 yr or more.... 0 to 15 %for most of us... 20% for rich folks right now if what the wiki says is true. good luck to all

There are no economic reasons for sole individuals to mine in US anymore. Straight buying and holding for more than 12 mo or longer is the most beneficial. The rule clearly favors accumulation vs usage, hence the utility of bitcoin in transactions will be probably minimized, unless it is revised later on. Mining as a hobby for a couple of coins can still go on unimpeded.

Nice. Competition comes here and the next thing the Communication Director comes online Welcome back 'Orama. Missed you! Bring on the big guns. Orama: I think you'll find our 20nm cycle times are optimised with flux capacitors, swedish pine and christmas lights. Spongebob-tech: I double dare you to prove your cycle times include double patterning and forward latching christmas lights with optimised low noise pine! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Anyone able to find info on TSMC 20nm cycle times?
I tried googling but found nothing. Seems like its top secret.

Maybe KnC have very good relations and they can get it faster. They do chips for 10 years. Can't be all in vain.
It was ORSoC first ASIC. They had FPGA code, ALCHIP did all the job. Relations won't help here. Double Patterning takes times. 4-5 months to samples. Guys, don't get in this pissing match. If AVENGER is taking the KnC side of the argument, you're likely wrong. You're off to an amazing start with your own beastie. Let it lie. KnC is quite capable of digging their own grave. Also quite capable of pulling a rabbit out of their ass. You can't call this one.

I am thinking I will likely have to start mining the alt-coins that support ASIC miners and turning them into BTC's to get ahead, unless the amount of Bitoin's in the world increase from 11 million to whatever the next increment is. But Bitcoin will never die. i'm dabbling - mining SHA alt coins, trading them for BTC and ploughing it all into cloud mining - if you can't beat them, join them. That's exactly the thing that will increase the value back into BTC, and starve off the alts a bit. Exactly what I expect most Titan owners will do. Mass roaming altpool Titans trading all their alts for BTC There's more to it. Most alts are going to have a short life span. Some will not. I don't think LTC is going to be a big winner, because they have managed inadvertently to establish themselves as the "also ran" coin. A great many of them are just people playing or scamming. But there are a few that have some serious potential. It's in the dumps right now, but the horse I'm officially backing is Earthcoin. It's designed to be a global cheap currency, and it's ASIC mineable. I know a couple guys mining it with gridseeds already. Bitcoin is the trailblazer. I don't see it dying, but I don't see it being the ultimate winner either. It has some limitations to its success, such as transaction times and a lot of negative press. This will allow it's competitors to exploit it's known problems for their gain. This in turn will strengthen the eco system. I see the development of scrypt asics as a very positive development. But some things need to happen that haven't yet. Ready transference in and out of various fiat currencies, Point of Sale systems OUTSIDE of the internet, and more trading pairs. While I find it personally offensive, DOGE is likely to be a big winner in the asic age, because it's already a big winner. This also lends more credence to my long standing postulate that Einstein was fundamentally wrong. The Universal Constant is NOT the speed of light. It's perversity. I see evidence in favor of this every single day. One way or another, Bitcoin has changed currency forever. I think it's likely to remain the "standard" by which other coins are judged, but I don't think that it will always be king of the hill.
