One of these guys used to post on the german forum section. Completely retarded, utter nonsense. Stay away from this.

Ahh, give it to them, they got balls for their future business plan "by pushing 300-400 petahash into the market quickly in Q1 2015, and growing our presence from there, we triple or quadruple the difficulty for a limited time, to achieve a new efficiency standard in mining and on the blockchain'.

Well IMHO
seems to me KNC is  NOT testing these units before shipping...i got an "processing" at the end of the swedish time (day working hours) and within 2 hrs of getting 'processing' tag (at end of said work day) ...the unit said shipped......so looks to me like processing means getting it all in the box and out the door ..and relying on chance to see if it all works or not
when you put it together for the first time.....a true DIY kit ........don't ya know!

makes sense with the kinda luck they are having with working units again imho about 1 out of 7 so far from posts i've seen (guessing) working....

anyway

The Titan ... supposedly will arrive Friday 11/8 from UPS...I have changed to there ...so I pick it up at UPS w/signature ...no need
to have it bounce around further for a late afternoon delivery in the truck all day...

well ...it would be one thing to have a NO ROI NO REFUND Titan I will be really p/o'd if I at LEAST can't get the unit running
in a sensible manner as a 'hobby/toy' and see the nice xmas tree lights and whirly noises...if I can't even get the satisfaction
of wasted/stupid toy warm and fuzzies out this ...I will be really really annoyed!

(Hey ain't the first time I've got screwed on something (knife handle in back) ..but jeez ...leave me more to play with then fight the cat over the knc shipping box!)

I wouldn't bother with "Bitcoinbrothers", it looks like another cookie cutter scam.

They claim their 16nm hardware will be ready for mass deployment in Q1 even though TSMC doesn't plan to begin mass production of 16nm until Q2.

They also claim to have had 20nm hardware since April but cannot provide any pics or a mining address. Seems we're supposed to believe they spent millions developing a badass 20nm ASIC yet never sold a single machine to anyone.

Here's what some germans have to say about them:

One of these guys used to post on the german forum section. Completely retarded, utter nonsense. Stay away from this.

They had promised much in the past (german sub forum), delivered (afaik) zero

Their website looks pretty amateurish for a company who claim to be developing 16nm tech.

You do not 'need' the Y adapters to make the units run but it is a very good idea to have them to try to avoid melts/burns of either the PSU end, the cables themselves or the Titan power connector.

Alternatively you could just run 16awg power cables from your PSU if it is a modular type.  That would work in lieu of a Y adapter.

Tired of substandard power distribution in your ASIC setup???   Chris' Custom Cablez will get you sorted out right!  No job too hard so PM me for a quote

You need either 4 16 gauge cables with HCS 45750 series terminals (13 amps/circuit) or 4 Y adapters with 16 gauge wire and HCS45750 terminals on the Titan end and then 8 regular PCI-e cables (for each Titan) if you want to minimize your chances of trouble.

Bitcointalk user cablez (USA), British supplier Shakmods and Icelandic supplier Icemodz all offer these.

Well it has finally happened. The first time the pci-e cable melted on the psu and I was able to avoid RMA.

This time the connector on the cube fried. One of the 6 pins is completely black and it won't power up anymore.

Sent support/rma request.

Your request (35659) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff.

I know KNC does not work on weekends. Will keep this thread updated with procedure and responses.

EDIT: The cables used are the stock cables that come with the Seasonic x-1050. These cables are 16AWG and state they are High Current on the box.

UPDATE:

1. November 1, 2014 (Saturday) Sent KNC support email informing them of the burnt connector and asking for official guidance/procedure. Request #35659

2. November 3, 2014 I got an email from KNC this morning. I have responded with the picture that has been uploaded in the OP.

Dear Marc,
We had already shipped PCI-e cables.
We are really sorry to hear about what happed and are going to grant you with RMA to replace the connector for you as soon as possible.
Could you please send us the picture of the connector that is burnt?
Thank you.

3. November 4, 2014 I received an update this morning. I have been authorized for an RMA. HOWEVER I must pay shipping the cube back to KNC. From Canada it costs ~$300 via FEDEX or UPS. Canadapost $150. I am disappointed that I should be responsible for paying shipping when this is a known defect with the Titan. I have asked, politely, that KNC provide me a return shipping label given the fact that this is a design flaw and no Y cable was provided as of yet. I am also worried about taxes on the way back. Since they are asking me to declare a value of $400USD I infer that they will in turn declare a non zero value when they return the fixed cube. That means I will have to pay another 15% of taxes on something I already own.

Hi,
We can at this stage offer you an RMA.
Please put RMA-T141104-01 in large writing on the box and send the cube back to the following address:
KnCMiner
Birger Jarlsgatan 33
11145 Stockholm
Sweden
We will review the cause of the issue and get back to you as soon as possible with a replacement or a repaired cube.
Please note that the shipment to us will need to be paid by the customer and we will pay for the return shipment. You should declare the value per cube at 400 USD.
Thank you,

4. November 4, 2014 I found a cheaper option with CandaPost. 4 business days guaranteed service to Sweden. This was their cheapest option other the economy surface which has an estimated 4-6 week delivery standard. I have since paid myself for this label and have modified my request to KNC from providing return label to providing a reimbursement for $95.34CAD which is the cost of the shipping.

Update:

5. November 6, 2104 I got an answer from Keith today saying that the only way the connector burns is if I didn't follow the guidelines they suggested or that I didn't connect the cable correctly and that is what will cause 1 pin to burn. However I asked for an explanation of what I did wrong since I used:

    1. 16AWG PCI-e cable was used
    2. Seaonsic cables are HCS with grimped terminals to 16AWG wire (as noted in OP with description from the PSU Manufacturer)
    3. I properly pushed the cables into the connectors
    4. Y cables have not been received so this was impossible for me to use.

I have replied again asking for reimbursement of shipping fees and an explanation of exactly what I did wrong from their suggested guidelines.

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in reply. We offer return shipping for components that are DOA or similar. We have provided recommendations and steps to ensure that the cubes port do not burn, they can usually only burn if the connector is not making full contact on all 6 pins as the power then only travels down a few of the pins and overloads them.

We will repair/replace the cube and send it back to you in the quickest way possible.

Med vänlig hälsning | Best regards

Keith Gurnett

As long as it doesn't require any work outside of normal office hours mon-fri and doesn't cost us anything and doesn't make me get up from this chair and doesn't make me have to root through a shit-ton of these damn cubes to find one that might actually work.

But, other than that, sure it'll be 'the quickest way possible.

Kurt,
I have discussed this with the ECC. They have read your TandC and the product description. They have informed me that I am entitled to cancel this order and that I am entitled to a full refund of the amount paid.

**has meanwhile been deleted got it wrong, but usually
Kurt removes any post pointing out that they behave illegal and that each customer is entitled to a refund in less than 20minutes - I smell fear

Can't see that cutting the mustard with KnC.

I know of people who have had to resort to emailing the Swedish Embassy in their country in order to try and explain that KnC are claiming privileges for refusing refunds that don't exist in the EU and asking the Embassy to explain if Swedish company law actually permits that sort of "you'll get what your given even if it doesn't perform as was originally promised" shitty attitude.

If only they'd use the right amount of plugs per PCB, and didn't use Chinese-sourced cheap plugs... then perhaps it would've been a decent product. Feel  bad for the folks who paid for this stuff.

Just to let everyone know here that bought their cubes and don't live in Sweden.

I have just confirmed several lawsuits against KNC.
Personally, I'm among them. Being a swede and having contacted a lawyer specializing in helping civilians against big companies it is blatantly apparant that they have breached their own contract (and Swedish as well as European laws) on so many points that it would outright become a joke if they aren't convicted in Swedish court.

At this point however, I doubt KNC will reimburse anyone that isn't ready to sue them, which must suck for anyone outside of Sweden. If you have a home insurance here, it pays for the vast majority of the court costs, and no, KNC doesn't have dozens upon dozens of lawyers - it's one. A single one.
They aren't a vast multinational powerhouse able to ignore the laws, yet.

So if you have cubes coming but you want out of the horrific situation us Titan pre-orders are in then a successful lawsuit is pretty much the only way to go. Do under no circumstances accept the package, tell them to return it to the sender and that you don't want anything to do with it (if you're suing). Accepting the package is the game over in regards to getting your money back.

Personally I say ban KNC, gut their company for their criminal behavior and ostracize them internationally, then let them sit and adore their broken hardware like they deserve.

Even if I loose my lawsuit, I'm doing this to prove to all you guys that ordered a Titan but accepted the "no refund" crap they're pulling, that KNC isn't invulnerable only because they cite non-existing laws and then cite that their "lawyers" did everything by the book. It's complete BS and they really can't do what they are doing and get away with it (yet anyway, we'll see in court).
Like my lawyer told me; It would be a mockery of the law if they were to get their way.

Titan owners need a judgement against KNC that INCLUDES PUNITIVE DAMAGES for deceptive advertising practices, late delivery and lost income. Not just a win, a victory.

I am not a lawyer but I'd expect KNC to appeal any such judgement hoping to avoid a precedent that would open the floodgates so any legal action against KNC is likely to be drawn out and expensive. Of course, KNC know we know this and they count on it as a deterrent. That is what allows them to abuse their customers with an attitude of impunity.

And there are still some Neptune customers waiting for refunds … KNC has been dragging their feet for many months in some cases. If you get an actual judgement against KNC you probably have a good chance of getting your money quickly but if they agree to a refund in order to avoid legal action your chances of a quick refund will depend on the agreement you make with KNC at the time. Given the opportunity, they will drag their feet.

On the other hand, they are likely to agree a refund when cornered in order to avoid a legal precedent. In this case, it is likely that KNC will attempt to get the plantiff's agreement to not disclose any settlement. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Shameful really ...

was just on the knc forum....www.kncminer.com

I get my Titan supposedly tomorrow eve 11/8/14.....

in the last 2 days of people getting their Titans  I saw like 5 folks (probably more I got discouraged and left) stating that their Titan not only did not sorta work..it basically
did not work at all..and the usual 'ship it back at your cost for an RMA' and the more recent slow power die in a week or so to the dreaded dead die issue...not good for
2 days of posts on knc forums imho....

I've already decided if it is a power plug issue someday..I will simply void the warranty and replace or as some suggested wire directly..no use sending it back
for a RMA in 2 months if KNC's company line is it is your fault on how you put the plug into their titan cube...I know a guy who does high end electronic repair
of medical/elec engineering components...so not gonna wait 2 months (their time line stated so likely longer) for an RMA on something like that?

I was told that if used 'correctly' (dab on metal female modular power cable ends ..when sliding male pins in they as they are also coated...or so I was told ...for a more secure electrical connection)

this stuff may help? advice?

http://www.amazon.com/MG-Chemicals-Carbon-Conductive-Grease/dp/B005T8ROWA/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1415336265&sr=1-1&keywords=MG+Chemicals+846+Carbon+Conductive+Grease

the above  cables with the carbon grease on shakmods 16awg Y cables for the corsair 1200i (i have two of them)

perhaps this is overkill but what do folks think of the above compound (or use?)

by the by anyone else have posts disappear on KNC forums when you post an ebay link for Titans new in box in hand selling for 4200 usd?

gee I wonder what happened?

here is a repost

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KNC-Titan-Scrypt-Miner-New-in-Box-ready-to-ship-NOW-In-Hand-/281483128725?pt=US_Virtual_Currency&hash=item4189b3af95

Has anyone successfully received a refund from KnCMiner?
I requested a refund more than 6 months ago, their order page says that the refund was "payed" yet no sign of my money.

When do I start to worry?
Has anyone received a refund from these thieves?
How long did it take?

Considering all my options, but it infuriates me when companies like this take pre-orders to finance production, then don't deliver on the products and ALSO don't deliver on the promised refunds.

I would avoid this company at all costs. They look like the next Butterfly Labs.

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)
