Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

i do not hide that i am a gambler. but i play only from time to time and not excessive. thats why this is ok for me and my environment and i have nothing to hide.

I am from Russia and I'm actually hiding my gambling from my parents only. My friends know about my interests and we even play poker from time to time together in life. But parents are such people who think only negative about such things as gambling in first. I do not want to they worry about me and possible addiction, so I simply do not share with them.

That doesn't make you ashamed of gambling but you are only saving yourself from being criticized by your parents who might be right because they must have spent quite a fortune on you to become a better person than someone living on gambling and so you may appear to have disappointed them if they caught you gambling.

His parents might also not get disappointed if he was only gambling in an online casino and does not used that much money in gambling. If he just gamble with his spare money then there is nothing to hide and be ashamed to his parents.

Nothing can be justified for someone who still rely on others, parents in this case, to enter the world of gambling. People who still cannot meet their own needs are certainly very vulnerable to being addicted.

Parents are not negative mate, they are there to give advises on what is good in life and they know much than you that gambling is not good to a person because it could give trouble later in life and when have a family on your own. If you will heed to their advise then good and if not then gamble and be responsible and be sure not to fall to addiction on gambling.

If you would make gambling as your main source of income you would be broke in a short amount of time. Why would you ever tell your friends or family that you are a gambler they will look down on you once you find out your a gambler unless they know you do it for entertainment or they might probably think your just making excuse to gamble. it would be better to stop gamble your capital will slowly increase overtime the longer you gamble you might probably regret it on the end.

being a gambler can make a person feel shame especially if he lives in the neighborhood which doesn't like about playing gambling at all. he can still play gambling but he will play in the secret room without anybody knows and he doesn't tell what he did in that room. and if he caught by playing gambling, he only tells that he is curious with the gambling games and he wants to feel how it looks like and he is not telling that he is a gambler in daily.

each people has their own reason why they feel shame if someone knows that he is a gambler and maybe he doesn't want other people to ask about his habit. but there is a person that will not feel shame if other people knows that he is a gambler.

I never thought i will say that but yes it has made me to be shameful now.....because i lost my father hardly earned money and i am regretting it really much..my father worked hard for that...so now i have started to work hard as well and i promised him that i will earn back each money that i lost.

Just don't blame yourself all the time, you need to forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes so you can move on.
Sometimes we really make mistakes because in gambling the reward is very tempting and we forget our limit so consequences do happen.

We only feel shameful when we regret something and promise not to gamble again.
However, some of us cannot keep up with that promises, we still do gamble because we are enjoying gambling despite the fact we are losing.
We disregard the reality that we are losing, instead we just focus on the fun and convince ourselves that one day we will figure out how to win.

Gambling is not a steady income source as you cannot grantee of a win here. It depends more on a luck of individual and if your luck is not good, then you will probably have a hard time in gambling.

Not a time waster but money wise it's not a good way to lose it in gambling. Of course, everyone here likes to play specially if you're winning. Some play for fun while majority of us wanted to take that risk and take home profits.

If you are not addicted then good for you. But I'm sure that 90% got hooked and need professional help to get away from their gambling habits. But you have to be very cautious as well because addicted gambler first sign is denial, just saying.
