As long as you control your gambling habits it is good enough. All communities consider gambling to be a sin - it is only to protect you from the ill effects of gambling addiction or gambling in general. We have seen so many people lose their families and friends due to gambling and drown in debt. It is harmful for the person at least from a social point of view. If one has that in mind while gambling and does it responsibly then it should not be something to be ashamed of.

Not all communities do consider that gambling is a sin but accepting the fact that there are countries or places which do prohibit on playing gambling and there are some who do legalized it which means it depends on on a certain place and the people who do lives on it, depends on culture and beliefs but i strongly believe that gambling would be a sin if you already making bad decision and destroying your life gradually.

There are people living in legally accepted gambling countries that still sees gambling as a shameful thing because they have bad attitudes themselves and don't want to be seen wasting money in the public. If I were to judge a gambler online or offline player, I guess there is no problem of feeling ashamed being seen at public places, as long as the money used was from good source like a stable job or an earned bitcoin online. Irresponsible type of person is worthy to be having shame of himself if ever he did no suppor his family with enough finances, and the allocated money budget has been used for his betting with gambling games. It's more like corruption of family funds and end up a problem that is in worst cases that might not be acceptable with the community specially seen by people around us.

Well if you're losing your own money, then live up to it you make your own decisions and you son't have to be ashamed. Yes and I've observed that those that are ashamed to be seen gambling are not just ashamed of the gambling but the heir lifestyle and attitude they put out there; that's precisely what they run away from in order not to be seen wasting money on gambling.
