Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

I don't feel shame at all for gambling, i think people that feel shame for gambling ar ones that are addicted to gambling, as everyone that aren't addicted to gambling never feel shame because they understand that gambling is nothing more than avtivity, which lets you earn some money. I don't think that gambling is different from playing games or reading books, so i don't feel shame while gambling.

I don't think that everyone that feels ashamed for gambling has a problem, sometimes it's just social pressure that makes you feel ashamed of gambling.
If people in your environment don't approve of gambling, you're going to be ashamed if you do it, it's as simple as that imo.

It seems to me that gambling is not a shame. Another thing if you are not in control of the situation and spend all their money in pursuit of the big jackpot. Such people are ashamed to talk about this issue, and it is a disease and it needs to be treated.

There's no need to a shame off being a gambler unless you gamble with the money of others. I do gamble with my hard earned money, I can do it whatever I want because I worked for it. I'm too old enough to handle myself when it comes to gambling. Just like some people who borrowed to you not knowingly they will try their luck in gamble. When they lost they will disappear like nothing just happened.

yes non addict people are not shameful in gambling while addict people feel shameful because non addict have control on their emotions and they know when to start gambling and when to stop gambling while the addicts stop only when they end up with their money.

That's too much of a bad result, it's like you are losing your life in that matter. Well, I do not have a car and a house yet and only my job is my treasure now, so if I lose this because of my gambling addiction, I also loss my family which I cannot even imagine. I would not say I'm proud to be a gambler but I'm happy doing it with my skills to control myself.

I guess, sometimes embarrassing if I say that I am a gambler, but I also feel that gamblers have a higher income than a person who works in an office. well, so I guess I was so embarrassed, or can be, I do not feel anything, because I consider that gambling also is work.

It's sometimes embarrassing if you are losing while being witnessed by a lot of live audience, I just hate that feeling and it will make me feel ashamed if that will happen to me again. In a way yes, because it is great to earn big amount of money if you own a gambling site, but, there is still a reason why we should be ashamed of being a gambler, no matter what excuses we are going to make, or ask to others opinion, and I know that most of the gamblers will say that there is nothing to be ashamed of, but the truth is there is. Of course every of our bankroll that will be use come from our hard work, thats so obvious. You should be ashamed when you actually use fund that was stolen from someone else. I think they also feel that shameful feeling while betting. They are aware that their actions are not approved by their loved ones and when they found out that all of their money was just gone from gambling, he's going to be ashamed of it. Simply thinking about that idea gives him the same amount of stress and the same shameful feeling. But since he's in the casino, he can feel all that shameful feeling but other people would understand since they feel it too. In a way, that makes the gamblers feel comfortable since they are surrounded by people feeling the same way.

A shared feeling of shamefulness makes it less disturbing and easier to bear.

Sometimes it is, but i think that people that are afraid of this pressure don't tell anybody that they like gambling or are addicted to it.  But you are right, usually people think that gambling is terrible thing and that gamblers are bad people, it is because many people lost everything thanks to gambling, so that what makes people to feel ashamed because they gamble.

In my girlfriend its a yes because my girlfriend hates me gambling. So everytime i play gambling we have lovers quarrel and sometimes he throw my phone. But my phone is strong eventhough it is android .

One quick advice, dont play when you are stress or such. When you lose, the aftereffect will be much harder. Although it might have no direct impact to the result however we do know that we might lose ( well it is just a precautions anyway ). It all depends on how you look at gambling, how you treat gambling, and where you live and how religious you are in the faith. If you do not think gambling is wrong, maybe you would not be ashamed of being a gambler. But you can also feel embarrassed if become more miserable because of gambling. You can also embarrassed even if you include people who are successful if you stay where gambling is illegal, if your religion forbids gambling. You also can not be embarrassed if you do not care.
