Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

I was also like you and never felt insulted or shameful for my gambling habit until the last tuesday when my parents saw my internet history and found out that I am just a gambler and nothing else. I had told them that I am doing bitcoin's trading and a lot more stories while actually in reality I was just a gambler. I could not even look into their eyes man.

Are you using your parents money to gamble? are you underage? if none then why is it shameful? as long as you don't over do gambling/aren't addicted it's fine.

Better question is why did he felt shameful, was it because he is gambling or because he actually lied his parents.
@Monnt looking at your post history it looks like your parents didn't punish you or restrict your internet activities so IMHO you are feeling shameful because you lied to them, and i think it hurts your parents much more than gambling.

I believe there is nothing wrong even if we will not inform our parents that we are gambling as long as we are matured enough to manage ourselves in gambling. Sometimes we also have to keep things private and for me gambling is a private thing which gives me satisfaction every time.
I have nothing to be ashamed of because it has not ruin my life, instead it gives me fun every time I feel bored.

Probably the statistics itself says that in most cases, gambling drives people to bad deeds, and this already starts to remind me of drug addiction.

I was ashamed of myself in the past as well because I used to spend a huge amount to gamble every single day, sometimes I win and ended up losing everything again. I was very stupid before and now I regret it , which is why now I only gamble for fun

exaclty i remember last time that i usually gamble a huge amount and win the first try but in the long run i tried again to gamble and in the end i lose it all. I feel pained in that time and now i learn some lessons that i did before so i just gamble also for fun only.

It's not that easy to move on rom the past especially if it affects you deeply, for example, being addicted to gambling you managed to destroy your relationship towards family, girlfriend/boyfriend, friends, etc. Not caring about anything at all because of gambling. That's why it's shameful, you should learn how to stop it and pray to God that he save you but its all up to you really.

Past is past and he did learned a lesson from it and that's for sure. If I were on his shoe, I'll feel the same but that's the result of being an addicted gambler. So when he was younger, he's addiction is severe. Take this as a lesson and I know there are more people that are experiencing this thing and if you don't want this to happen to your life, you should be responsible.

Many gamblers try to hide that they gamble from their friends and families and feel really shameful for that. Do you consider gambling as a bad thing? If I were a gambler why would I ashamed? First of all I am happy to gamble and to feel relaxed. Gambling is shameful if it makes illegal or you did bad things,more particularly if you neglect your family.  I do not need to hide if I am a gambler, as long as I know how to discipline  myself,know my priorities and the gambling  limits.

There's no need to be shameful if you are doing it the right way. And if you are using your own money to gamble then instead of being shameful you should be proud of it. I agree with you, we just need to control ourselves when playing gambling and considering it is an entertaining game, we will not feel ashamed when become a gambler. However I think we should not feel proud when using our own money to gamble because in a sense, gambling is wrong and illegal, this is a social aspect. Maybe now you are using your own money and you feel very proud of it but if you lose for a long time, you will use your family's money, this will be a shame. So I can say I do not feel ashamed to be a gambler, but I'm not proud of it
