Hi btcjocan I am not surprised in your country a public lottery has a good acceptance among society. This is just why... the Govern could get money from people.
In Italy (where I live) the classical "lotto" (90 numbers up to 5 for win) is called sometimes: "Tax for stupid people" !
Also here there are also national campaign for advertise their games, but who pay this? Only poor people that can understand the risk of gambling and the risk of an addiction like this.
Therefore they not support to much betting on sports (probably due some scandals in the pasts, rigged match).

Definitely those people are not ashame for being a lotto bettor.  So I guess they do not feel ashamed playing and betting on that game which is right as long as they are spending their own free money.  I do not feel shameful too because i make sure that my gambling activities won't have any effect on my family and that I keep myself in check and have control over the situation.

Yes, be a gambler is not easy. Because there are a lot of people (around 95%) that can harvest from betting only:
-debts
-more problems
-other addictions
...so on...

Many gamblers want hide their addiction to bet, because they can't get anything good, they loss more money of what they win... of course is shaming if you waste your money without understand why (and just playing).

Personally after the closing of DirectBet I am not using placing a bet from several months. Literally no one. Probably I guess is related to my point of view on bets, more similar to a trader, and not to a gambler.

Do you consider gambling as a bad thing?

Yes I consider gambling a bad thing. Because if you don't have a smart approach, you are like trying to approach some vicious risky "drugs" with high risk to get addicted and lose a lot of money!

If it is shame what you feel what do you about it?

I am feeling good because I don't have any desire to play. Literally 0 interest. In fact after DB Closing I haven't place a bet

How do you hide you're a gambler and who do you hide it from?

In my country betting up to a certain limit is socially accepted.
So normally I don't need to hide as gambler (but I need to hide what I am playing and my stakes that are normally really higher than others players).

Its very hard to know someone with soo many good results wich is able to stop making bets, congratulations. I had gambled last time last year with bitcoin up or down dont remember well i made some tiny profit and left, i dont believe any gambler should hide at all, you arent doing nothing wrong, unless you loose control over the bets you make and the money you loose. Several people had lost the control and had ruined their lifes, soo always take care and never risk more then can afford to loose.

yeah we are not doing criminal things , people shouldn't be mad and act like to make us shameful sharing and play games for the sake of fun or even money. as long as you are not against prevailing norms. you don't have to worry and just run-of-the-mill . feel like nothing wrong , unless if someone feel bothered then it could be an issue.

See I am a gambler but I am not feeling any shy while gambling because it is another type income, will be decided with in minutes.
But we may lose money in a fraction of a second but at the same time, we may win gambling and it is completely based on luck.

Some people are ashamed of what they do but they keep on doing it which is incredibly lame. Some people feel ashamed because they lose and when they win they dont feel like that. Some people think that they are doing some nasty stuff because they lose money that they could have use some other place with better purposes

Exactly, you are right, man. I couldn’t just understand the psyche of gamblers. They feel so happy when they win. They feel so grieved when they had loss that is okay with everyone. But when they loss and someone asked them to play it again then they don’t make promises. Why? If you are gamblers then do it. Loss is the part of game. Don’t shy then.

it is just the matter of how your actual environment works .

when you live in a place where gambling are something usual then why you should be shame? people talking about betting here and there freely , joking about that etc. op just have a bad place to gamble openly. move from that place if you feel not comfortable , pretty simple.

it has always been like that in what environment the person grew up in and that has become great factor in his or her attitude and characteristics. Probably people become ashamed because they can't control themselves in gambling or probably they just don't want relatives knowing that they are gambling.

Human nature is a static thing my dear. Go to any part of the world, you will find same traits and emotions in them. Deep inside we all are same and nobody appreciates gambling. If you do play on a certain country on which gambling is somehow being prohibited then feeling of ashamed would really be there because people around you would really have different treat or views into you which we dont really like at all on which people would really see on this way.I feel like im being crushed but this thing cant really stop if you do like to and as you said as long it wont harm others it would be just fine.

Hey whatever makes you happy, you should not be ashamed. People just put a stereo type on people that gamble. They portray that gamblers have a bad attitude
and they are fond of wasting money in the casinos. But really if someone is a responsible gambler, then I don't see anything wrong with it. Why should I be ashamed?

Being shameful mean that's you are not proud of being gamblers. I don't ashamed of being shameful instead i'm proud of being gamblers. Because gambling is anywhere it makes feel great, and most of people are doing.. The main reason is just for fun only. I believe you. The fact that you actually are earning from it tells you that what you're doing is worth it and if it's beneficial then by all means continue to do it. That's right we should not be ashamed if we are involve in gambling as long as we make fun on it or probably we just want to have a good profitable result for the benefits of our purpose. There are many successful professional gamblers now a days and in fact they were proud of it. THat is great mindset. Gambling in the first place is not illegal and that is why government allows casino to be built in the country. HOwever, it is those that do not know how to control themselves are the issue.

Every one of us has already know that the gambling is not good to all of us. And here in my town gambling is illegal. Because one day the People who playing in our town has been raid by the police. So every now and then they feel shameful for everybody who can see that happen. So for me I consider gambling is not good to everyone of us.

No I don't feel shameful for being a gambler because it was my choice and my decision to make to be where I am. And I had stopped gambling already for quite some time now, it made me realize I am loosing much more than profiting from it.
