Do you feel shameful for being a gambler?

In many cultures and countries is gambling consider as a bad thing which only the poorest and silliest ones do. Many gamblers try to hide that they gamble from their friends and families and feel really shameful for that. Do you consider gambling as a bad thing? Do you feel shameful or proud for being a gambler? If it is shame what you feel what do you about it? How do you hide you're a gambler and who do you hide it from?

No i dont feel ashamed for playing gambling because i gamble just for fun and hanging out with my friends. So what is the reason to me to be ashamed. I am just a gambler who loves to play, and i am not doing wrong.

I was also like you and never felt insulted or shameful for my gambling habit until the last tuesday when my parents saw my internet history and found out that I am just a gambler and nothing else. I had told them that I am doing bitcoin's trading and a lot more stories while actually in reality I was just a gambler. I could not even look into their eyes man.

Nothing last forever but dont forget that when you win it could be a life changing thing that happen to your life. When people only play for fun, they wont really feel sad when they lose or even stress. Some people try to have fun but they are too occupied with getting profit everytime they play which is very wrong

I believe you. The fact that you actually are earning from it tells you that what you're doing is worth it and if it's beneficial then by all means continue to do it. Being ashamed or embarassed should only be applied to people who are not doing it right and are gambling way beyond their means to gamble

Not everything you earn from is good my friend, because you can even earn money if you blackmail others, hack others and brine, kidnap others and so on. Similarly is gambling, you might be enjoying a short term profit but after a few years or sometimes even months you will get bankrupt and you will regret gambling your life.

Nothing last forever but dont forget that when you win it could be a life changing thing that happen to your life.

But I'm not seeing any gambler getting their life changed into better due to their gambling activities. They are finding their life struggling due to gambling and ending up feeling shameful for being a gambler.

lol you must be an under age , mature people will not experiencing something like this.

or you might live in an environment where something like gambling are really restricted and prohibited . i don't know what you are feeling since i never experience something like that. but one thing that i believe it must be really uncomfortable to live with that way .

When we involve our family in our gambling, than it create problems, I mean when we start to play gambling continuously and waste our all money in it, also our family expenses, than definitely our family have a problem with us. But if we play gambling only our money and don't disturb our family than everyone will be happy with us and also our gambling.

That's a good thing to do, not being ashamed of what you do and just be confident. I just think that being wealthy or an image of being wealthy is not sufficient, it's not something that you should feel great about. It's great that you admitted that and it's better to be the better man by repaying what you got. I still have my own sins to repay, and I'm humiliated by it.

I don't think people just feel shameful because they lost their money through gambling? That's not what the OP meant. We all do loose money through some stupid ideas one way or the other but the problem has to do with some people having inferior motives for gamblers and classify gambling for low life guys but I totally disagree with them and don't feel shameful one but because it's contributed to my countries economy and has provided income for workers of the respective bookies.

i think not all gambler will thinking like what you do because all gamblers is not living in the same country and maybe in their country, playing gambling is prohibited and if they are caught by playing gambling, it can makes them to feel shameful especially in front of their family.

It is very common and normal for the other countries that gambling was a bad thing to their country. But for others views according to them as long as your not doing any harm to your neighbor no reason for you to be ashamed of. But if you did something which is really wrong, that is very shameful of course.

It's great if you stop doing those 2 things. Because these two things illustrate how addicted you are to gambling. People have a lot of people who despise people who are desperate to borrow money just to gamble. Logically, they would have looked down on the person who stole just to gamble. So stop you from doing those 2 things is a tremendous change in you.

I won't feel any shameful for being a gambler because I am gambling with my own money and also I will never reveal any loss happened and any gains made through gambling. It is unnecessary to share personal information with others.

in some societies people even play with their own money but still they feel shameful because in their society gambling is not consider as Nobel activities and therefore such people who still play gambling they feel shame and therefore they try their best to play gambling anonymously so that no one can know about him that he is playing gambling.  to me i also play gambling online and the reason is that i also do not want any body to know that i am engage in gambling.

Are you using your parents money to gamble? are you underage? if none then why is it shameful? as long as you don't over do gambling/aren't addicted it's fine.

It is never about being ashamed of yourself . It is more of your self conscience. If you are going to make a living from gambling, atleast you should be sure that you are actually free to gamble in your own country so you wont need to feel ashamed or whatever . Im quite sure alot of people actually come from a country which is illegal to gamble in there like me
